You cannot contact anyone in this actual office. While only 50 dollars to me, fraudulently adding charges after the fact may not be so easy for a lot of people. Save your money. This is a big box type vision practice. You do not matter. Lorraine called 70 time to remind me we owe 50 dollars or we cannot have the prescription. 2 weeks later I can't even pay it just to get the prescription because you cannot get a call back or reach an actual office.

Here's my story, sad, but true: Suspecting I had cataracts, I went to SightMD and after going…read morethrough many tests, Dr. Avni (Port Jeff) confirmed I indeed had cataracts. He said he would work on the left eye first, to be followed by my right eye later. I opted for a variable lens which would make the continued need for glasses unnecessary (Yahoo!). After the operation, Dr. Avni said my cataract was denser than anticipated, and just as he removed the last piece (pulverized by a laser), he heard a 'pop' and the chamber behind the lens which contains vitreous fluid, ruptured. Google states that 98% of cataract surgery is routine with no problems. Unfortunately, I landed in the 2% with problems. Bad luck or bad surgeon? Who knows. Dr. Avni had to insert a thicker mono lens instead of the variable lens. After this, I decided to change ophthalmologist. I saw Dr. Basalice (also SightMd but in South Setauket). My left eye is now at best 20-60 and I will have to wear glasses for reading and close work. Dr. Basalice asked me if the previous doctor told me I had macular degeneration. "No," I said. Went to a retina specialist and on a scale of 1 to 10 where ten is blindness, I am at a 3 for now. Prescribed PresserVision to keep it dry and not wet (bad). Dr Basalice worked on my right eye and he also found a very dense cataract, but he completed the operation without any complications. My left eye is still 20-60 and eventually my right eye should be 20-20. Glasses will be needed for reading. The regimen pre and post operation between Dr. Avni and Dr. Basalice was night and day. Dr. Basalice required medicated drops before the operation and his restrictions for post-surgery were much more comprehensive than what Dr. Avni required. Also Dr. Basalice performed the laser portion of the surgery, instead of a tech who did it for Dr. Avni. All in all, I am very confident in recommending Drs. Basalice/Conners office in South Setauket/Wading River.

Setauket with Valentina Blaine OD. when I arrived, I did the self check in at the kiosk and waited in the lobby. I could hear the reception area and how much fun all the staff was having, they seem to be extremely friendly, which is a far cry from the Port Jeff staff. IJS. When I was called into the office, the nursing staff that I encountered was extremely friendly and very nice. The doctor came in, put drops in & examined both my eyes. She then asked me if I had allergies and I told her yes, I take Claritin daily. She asked me if I ever take eye drops I said no need to since Claritin works. She stood up as I was still leaning forward with my chin in the cup for the exam. Valentina said "I don't see anything, OK?" I reiterated that "Something is still in my eye, and it has nothing to do with allergies". I specifically remember when the object hit my eye. Valentina reiterated the same and then left the exam room. I walked out confused. Never in my life have I ever had a doctor not have a plan or remedy. Even if they had no clue of a diagnosis for a patient. Her behavior was atypical at best. I went to the receptionist & asked if she could find out if there was any type of tx plan for me. She returned & told me to get eye drops. When I asked for some, she said OCLI doesn't have ANY samples to give me. I left in the same condition that I arrived in. I called OCLI on the phone and told them about what happened and I don't think it's fair that I didn't even get my eye flushed. I was placed on hold and office mgr Jackie spoke to me on the phone and tried to encourage me to return to the office to get further assistance. I told her no thank you, and referenced how I wouldn't even return food in a restaurant; I'd rather leave due to poor service. I told her I will go to the urgent care and get the proper treatment, which I did and everything is great! I called my insurance company and told them that I don't think OCLI should be paid for this visit. I was told that I can appeal the decision of the visit when they see the claim, which I may do. I will make sure anyone that I know is aware of the treatment that I received from Valentina Blaine OD. I would never give her the satisfaction to be called a doctor. She should be embarrassed & ashamed of the way she treated me as a patient with such dismissiveness. Valentina Blaine was a disgraceful experience that I wouldn't wish on any patient. I will never return to OCLI because of Valentina Blaine & how disgustingly she treated me as a patient. I question if she even took an ethical oath when she got her license to practice. She needs retraining or needs to return for internship to see how it's properly done. Sad that she's part of Catholic Health Services. Her morals need to be reevaluated.
