Truly a 5 star experience! Dr. Lessner did my husband's procedure 8 years ago and he had great results, so I felt confident coming here. I was definitely nervous the day of, but Dr. Lessner was incredibly patient and explained everything step by step beforehand and during the procedure. He was kind and reassuring. When we were done, he actually came out to the waiting room to see my husband again 8 years later, and we took a picture together. That personal touch meant a lot to us. The entire staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience feel easy. Niki has such a gentle, calming demeanor, and Meghan was very kind and helpful when going over post-op instructions. Dr. Cohen answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable. Everything went so smoothly from my initial call for a consult through the surgery itself. The staff are all amazing. My issue is that I never got to see Dr. Shatz until the day of surgery and that was only for 30 seconds before the procedure. Never came to check on me in the recovery area, never saw him before or after surgery. I was not aware that I would always see another doctor on all visits. Most reviews said they see better the day of or the day after surgery. It took me a good month before I was seeing good. The first week or so after surgery everything was blurry. Could not even see the big E on the vision chart. I paid a lot of money thinking I would see Dr. Shatz. read more

I had cataract surgery at SightTrust on my right eye in 2013. Very nice staff; clean and attractive office. The procedure was NOT covered by my insurance, but the doctor and staff sold me on their "state of the art" procedure, and a finance plan. The doctor later told me 95% (99%?) of his surgeries are successful. I guess I was the odd man out. I was on the table not the expected 15-20 minutes, but closer to 45 minutes. The lens they were installing was too small (?) and fell through onto the macula at the back of my eye. They had to "fish" it out, scraping the macula, and then had to go to the storeroom to find a different lens. Meanwhile, they injected more anesthetic and I was feeling no pain, but experiencing AMAZING psychedelic visions...almost worth the price of admission. When I was able to take off the bandage, my vision was like looking through an old Coke bottle filled with urine. The doc said it was "normal" to not see too well at first. After a YEAR of repeated visits back to SightTrust, the doctor finally said there was nothing more he could do for me. Well. It took several YEARS for my vision to become more or less normal. A few years later, I finally went to another eye doctor to see if he could help. He noted a large amount of "floaters", including a very large blob that was blurring my vision at unexpected moments...a real treat when driving on I-95. He scheduled me for another operation with a needle that "sucked" the blob and most of the floaters out, and replace the vitreous fluid between the lens and the macula. So now my eye is in pretty good shape. So REMEMBER...this surgery is only good on 95% or so of the recipients; think deeply on what happens if you're in the unlucky 5% like I was. read more

Overall a very positive experience! I'm impressed by how professional and efficiently this establishment is run. Everyone is friendly and patient with my 101 questions! Dr. Shatz is very personable and knowledgeable. Nearly 3 weeks after my multifocal lens implantation surgery I can give this assessment: I see far + intermediate distances well, however my stellar close up vision is just not what it used to be. I was able to see even the tiniest writing, very clearly, before the surgery. I was warned I might lose this and need reading glasses. Despite this disappointment I would highly recommend SightTrust Eye Institute for multifocal lens implantation. If I had to do it all again I would. So nice not to have to deal with glasses and contacts. Wish I had done this years ago! read more

A great experience. For the review, came in, no waiting to see the doctor. Had both eyes done, even though had only 1 cataract. They corrected the other eye, so that I could read without glasses and had good distance. 1 week after the surgery, I went for my drivers license and was able to pass the eye test without glasses. Everyday for a least a month, I saw a day to day improvement. The only reason I did not give 5 stars, is that on the 1 day and 1 week exams, there was a long wait. Took about 1 hour to get in and see the doctor. That was disappointing , as I did not experience that before the surgery visits. This something I am very sensative to. read more

Tin my opinion this facility is only interested in making money. I have been a nurse for 24 years yet Dr Spatz refused to provide a consultation because I was not planning on having surgery at his institution . I had taken time off of work for the appointment and explained in detail my desire to have myself evaluated as a candidate for cataract and crystal lens teplacementsurgery. I was covered by my insurance and would pay for the service. Although the office staff was pleasant I was basically isolated in a room while they explained that unless I did surgery using their personnel they would not do the consultation. Is this ethical? I felt as though I was treated as a common criminal . I would advise you find an office who has some compassion for the patient. The office responded to my review saying they didn't want me to have surgery using another doctor's evaluation. Bull**** the doctor refused to meet me. Had cataract and corrective surgery 4 weeks ago at Sight Trust. The staff was professional, extremely competent and very friendly. Dr. Shatz was super. He sat with my wife and I and completely explained, in great detail, the cataract surgery procedure and what results to expect. My passion is fishing. Dr Shatz said that if I chose to have the multi-focal lenses that I could clearly see a lure being trolled 200 feet behind the boat and then look down and be able to tie a fishing knot. And he was right! One week after surgery I was able to do just what Dr Shatz said. I had both eyes done on the same day. Procedure took less than 30 minutes. No problems. Every step was totally organized. Now I am glasses free after 58 years. read more

I was told that I would never have to wear glasses again so paying the hight price to me was worth it. After I was sedated I was told that I would have to wear glasses and had to sign a form I couldn't even read. Before I had one pair of glasses trifocal, now I need a pair of glasses for reading, a pair for the computer and a pair for distance. Close range I can see except at night where I get a cloudy vision. They said it would be better with time but it's been two years and I haven't seen any improvement. So very disappointed. read more

"Coming to Dr. Shatz was incredible. I had a visit with Dr. Shatz that lasted nearly one hour. It took place after his technicians ran several tests of my eyes. They used the latest technology. They tested how well I could see and read. Then Dr. Shatz said I have two options and after checking the results we decided to do an IOL exchange. Dr. Shatz also said he would only do the surgery after reviewing the records of the original cataract surgery, the records of my retina doctor (I have wet macular degeneration) and my health records because he would only do surgery if it improves my vision. When I walked into the office, for the first time, I was nervous and concerned. From the front desk to the other rooms and finally meeting the doctor, all my nervousness disappeared. I never went for a second opinion because I knew this was the place. I am writing this without any glasses for the first time in almost 20 years. Dr. Shatz, his staff and his facility were state of the art and fabulous to deal with from the beginning to the end of my experience there for cataract surgery with intraocular lens implant. Having had LASIK surgery years ago, Dr. Shatz said it would be harder for him to determine the power of the lens to implant that would give me the best vision but he nailed it. I opted for the Restor lens implant and now have near 20/20 distance vision in the operated eye and can read without reading glasses, an amazing outcome for someone 65 years old. When my other eye gets to the point where cataract surgery is indicated, I am definitely going back to Dr. Shatz. read more
