In late Jan., I reached out to Signature to confirm a dress listed on their website was in stock -- they confirmed it was. I went in the first week of Feb. in search of two dresses -- one for my morning religious ceremony & one for the evening dinner celebration. I purchased two: dress 1, a white flowy dress shipping from Turkey within a month, & dress 2, a red corset dress "already in the US." Both were size 12 floor samples despite me being a size 2-4, which I was fine with since my measurements would be taken to order the correct size -- though it was hard to envision them when I could only hold them closed from the back. The owner also offered dress 2 in dark green at no extra charge, pulling out a forest green silk sample & confirming both colors would arrive "immediately." I felt she was going above & beyond. I asked for an order confirmation or tracking number at checkout but received neither, & only noticed when I got to my car that the receipt had a strict 3-day return policy for store credit only -- never mentioned during the transaction. Twenty days later I followed up on dress 2, which was supposed to have arrived "immediately" in two colors. I was told a light green version had arrived -- not what we agreed on, but I went in anyway. It was bright seafoam, a size 6, & would need significant alterations to the corset top. When I asked about the red & dark green versions I was told they had shipped but "just hadn't arrived yet." I asked about dress 1 & was confidently told it would arrive the first week of March. This should have been my first red flag, but it was still February & I had two months until the event. March came with no updates unless I initiated them. On March 6th I was told "Dress will get to us in three or four days -- it's on transit." I follow up a week later, no reply. The next day: "Darling, I have to check the tracking number again. I know it's been shipped. Let's follow up Monday or Tuesday." Monday -- no reply. Tuesday -- no reply. I called Wednesday & was finally given tracking info showing the shipping label had been created THAT DAY. It had not previously shipped. I asked for tracking on dress 2 & received no response. Shortly after, I noticed dress 1 was held at customs due to inadequate paperwork from their importing agent. I called to flag this. A week passed with no action & no replies. I called again, increasingly frustrated, & was told dress 2 -- the red one -- had finally arrived. I went in first thing the next morning, anxious & hopeful. I was handed the size 12 floor sample I had tried on in February. I started to cry in the store. The owner assured me it could be tailored to fit. I was so distressed & so close to my event that I took her word for it, despite knowing there is no realistic way to make a size 12 corset work on a size 4 body. Dress 1 still had not arrived. She pinned me into dress 2 & scheduled a fitting. I cried all the way home & all evening. At the fitting, the bra cups were enormous & the corset didn't cinch the way it was designed to. The tailor told me privately that she was frustrated with the store owner & would not have otherwise agreed to such an extreme alteration -- but she would do her absolute best given how special the occasion was. I was also asked to pay for hemming on top of everything, with the store covering only the resizing. I agreed because none of this was the tailor's fault. The next day I arrived at my 11am appointment to find the store closed. I waited outside 15 minutes. Dress 1 had arrived but had a faulty zipper & still needed alterations. Dress 2 had a 5-inch rip on the inside lining, the bra cups had not been fixed as promised, & there was new staining on the corset that wasn't there before. The tailor was not present. I was sent to her home, missed two work meetings, & still ended up with a dress with pilling, residual staining, & bra cups "fixed" by adding material rather than resizing. It was not new. It was not mine. It was a damaged floor sample I paid nearly $3,000 for. Dress 2 was clearly never in transit as I had been told for weeks. Whether backordered, never ordered, or unavailable, I was never given a straight answer. Had they told me within a week of my purchase, I would have happily chosen something else at the same price point. Instead I was strung along with vague texts & false tracking for two months, handed a damaged floor sample days before my event, & left with a dress that did not fit on one of the most important days of my life. I have since purchased dresses from another store that had things in stock & delivered exactly what they promised. Unless you can find something in your size off the rack, there is serious liability in this store's ability to deliver what they promise & when they promise it. This was one of the most important weeks of my life, & the stress & heartbreak caused by this store was entirely avoidable. read more

We found the perfect dress! This boutique is an absolute gem. After learning of my daughter's plans to design her prom gown, I decided to search the DMV and found Signature. The shop felt like Breakfast at Tiffany's for gowns, with an array of colors to choose from. My daughter looked stunning in every piece, but she eventually found 'the one' that was her "signature" prom dress. I love that they guarantee dress exclusivity for her school, saving us the stress of a custom design. With accessories, a purse and earrings that adorn her dress so well, she'll look elegant . We couldn't be happier. I noticed other reviews mentioned service. We were fine with me helping her in and out of her dresses. It gave us bonding time and it fit our comfort level, but I do understand what meets our needs/expectations may not meet someone else's. Everyone was polite and attentive (checking on us once the dress was on, (checking the fit, ensuring it met her taste, seeing her walk, even styling her signature dress with the perfect mom approved accessories - she can borrow the purse from me ;) and so on), during our appointment. Prior to booking an appointment I CALLED THE STORE to make ABSOLUTE SURE that #1- They carried gowns in my size IN STORE #2- They had a good selection of black gowns IN MY SIZE IN STORE and #3- They had veils to try on with gowns. I paid $25 for my appointment and despite arriving 15 min early, I was not taken into the main selection room till 20 min after my appointment. The salon was so packed with teens trying on prom gowns I could barely move. The person who worked there said she was the only person working that day. Seriously? If that's the case why did yall book so many PAID appointments when you lacked adequate staff and fitting rooms?? When I finally got a moment to ask her about the dresses I was interested in, I was told that they had nothing I saw online in store to try on, in fact they didn't have a single black dress in my size to try on PERIOD. If I wanted anything I was interested in, in my size, I was told I would have to order it online (the purchase would be non refundable and I'd only get store credit to use) or I would have it made totally custom (+$2000). I was offered zero assistance clipping dresses that weren't my size so I couldn't even envision how it would look on me and told by the associate to "just hold the dress up in front of me" if the gown was too small to even attempt to try on THEN order it online. He treated my niece like she was an inconvenience when she asked for assistance finding a specific style of dress. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT SIGNATURE DRESSES. I was so glad to support a small, female owned business in DC. Decided to shop here for my cousin's wedding instead of in New York. HUGE HUGE MISTAKE. They are THE most disorganized, inept, incapable retailer I have ever stepped foot in. Maybe they cater to the real housewives of nowhereville...but if you have any sense at all, GO ELSEWHERE. Here's why: 1. Made an appointment in January to first try on dresses. Got really no help in the store--owner was on her cell phone on speaker phone (should've seen this as a red flag). I actually thought she was an obnoxious customer and my friend and I were very surprised she owned the shop. Not a great introduction but I figured maybe I'm just used to bigger cities so I'll give this a shot...nope. Keep reading.... 2. Returned on March 11 & tried on a lime green gown, purchased it. Paid in full. 3. Upon payment I was told that the dress would arrive--verbatim from Gilda--"way before mid April" and in time to be tailored for a wedding early May. 4. April 1st, April 5th, April 10th come and go...no phone call. Nothing. I had to call them multiple times. Got no answers. They couldn't give me a straight answer and couldn't even tell me if the dress had been produced, shipped, or anything. Literally they have not a clue what they are doing. Keep reading... 5. Called again. Was told they put the floor sample I had tried on on March 11 for me aside. No mention of where my "new" dress is (or the fact it obviously never shipped, and they never bothered to track it, follow up, or do anything at all). 6. Went into the store with my mother (full disclosure, she was the purchaser), on April 13. They give me the floor sample, which now has a stain and two pulls as shown in the photos. 7. Obviously I'm not pleased but trying to be patient. Gilda asks me if I want an emerald green dress. I say well, no, I'd like the actual dress I purchased, plus the mother of the bride is wearing emerald so that's a no. She then offers to find me a hot pink. I begrudgingly say ok, as I think it's very wise now to order it as a backup. I really didn't want pink from the very start, but I also didn't love that my only other option was a dirty dress in this condition for $650. Gilda refused a discount for the floor sample when asked. More on this later. 8. Next week comes and I hear nothing. Its now a week later and a week and change before I leave. 9. I call the store, ask where the pink dress is now...Bobbi answers and asks me what I am talking about, that she thought the green fit me fine, asked me the same question about six times, before putting me on hold for over 7 minutes. She finally comes back on the line and (SHOCKER HERE GUYS) says she doesn't know where the pink dress is. This pink dress!!! 10. Bobbi calls back saying the pink dress will be in "tomorrow" or AFTER TOMORROW. I mean... what is happening anymore. I no longer have any faith in these people. This is pathetic! 11. I slept on it and made the decision to go to the store on April 20 and pick up the dress as shown in these pictures. I now had 5 business days to get the dress tailored. I had paid in full, had also bought two other backups that didn't work sadly. But also just try getting a refund from this woman It's basically highway robbery. Oh, Gilda did begrudgingly cave to a very very measly 10% discount that "would go towards alterations" after trying to convince us the pulls would come out with a STEAMER. Somehow she forgot to mention this when she began calling and texting me from a number I wouldn't recognize. She called me only after I came to get this dirty unacceptable garment, and only to ask why I didn't wait for THE OTHER OPTIONS! I could go on and on. I was so embarrassed for Gilda during the entire process (it was so painful!!) , and genuinely cannot believe how this store stays in business. I've shopped all around the world--Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Hamptons, Palm Beach--you name it, I've shopped there. I grew up in the garment industry, my family owned an international dress company for decades based in Manhattan--trust me, I know what I am talking about. This was the WORST retail experience I've ever had. I say this with all sincerity--do yourself a favor and SHOP ELSEWHERE. They'll ruin the event, your wedding, whatever it is you have planned, and you'll be lucky if you have anything to wear after you're done with the saga this store created for you. I got better help from the IRS during tax season--I kid you not! P.S. The owner responds typically to these negative reviews with excuses, puts it on the customer, and says some canned response about customer service. I was upset reading the other negative reviews of how she also ruined people's events and caused such headaches and devastation for one wedding in particular. We've disputed 20% back on AMEX, too. I am not one to leave negative reviews, but after my pathetic experience at Signature Dresses, I feel obligated. I paid for a mother of the bride appointment for my mom to pick out a dress to wear to my wedding. We were excited to go, and chose this store based on the variety of MOB dresses on their website. Instead, this experience ruined our weekend. When we arrived the owner seemed nice when she thought the appointment was for me (28 yr old size 4 female). When she realized it was for my mother (62, size 14) she spoke to her for less than 5 minutes about what she was looking for, pulled the ugliest dress in the store for her to try, and then told us we had to wait for a dressing room to open, and she would let us into one when it did. We waited about 20 minutes until the owner asked how the dresses were fitting. We still hadn't been let into the fitting room at this point. As my mom was trying on the gowns, after we were allowed into a room, I asked if anyone could clip her into them so she could get a better idea of the fit (the straps were all very long on her). I was told no. We were ignored the rest of the time we were in the store. As we were leaving the owner gave me her card and said I could order whichever dress she liked online. She never took my mother's measurements and made a scoffed comment about how she is certainly bigger than anything she would carry in store when I asked which size she would need to order. It was clear we were not welcome in this store from the beginning, and the owner does not cater to anyone besides petite prom dress shoppers, yet she advertises other services and CHARGED me for this "appointment". I am appalled by the whole experience and how she made my mom feel less than and unwelcome. She could have said from the beginning that she did not carry the sizes we would need and refunded me the appointment fee. Instead she treated us like an inconvenience and mocked us for even thinking that we could shop there. I hope no other brides fall for this money grab. I didn't want to need to write this update... But I'm changing my review from a 5 to a 1. Buying the dress was fine it was after that was terrible. When I bought the dress I asked if it would be extra to have the missing crystals and beads replaced, I was told no, it was not extra and they would do this when I came back to have the dress bustled. Two different employees told me this was the case. When I went to have the dress measured for the bustle I again checked that all the crystals and beadwork would be fixed, I was again assured yes. After 4 weeks the dress came back with black ink numbers written on the outside of the dress (from the bustle) and the few crystals that were actually put back were so sloppily sewn! They even took clear beads and added them where a crystal should have been! Other spots had new crystals on top of the empty crown of the past crystal, making it stick way out. They were able to get most of the ink out from the train, but you can still see part of the number 1. The owner refused to honor what multiple staff told me regarding properly replacing all of the crystals, saying that it was too much work. I wrote to the designer in Australia, they agreed to send the needed crystals, but I could only get the shop owner to agree to replace the largest crystals that were missing. She said she would give me the rest and I could have it done somewhere else. When I went to finally get the dress, I was handed 5 crystals and she said she didn't have any others to give me.... There are over 300 missing on my dress, which she knew because I marked each one with a pin. The designer told me over the phone that they shipped a large number of crystals to the shop, the crystals aren't on my dress, but they're somewhere. All of this took over 2 months and there is now not enough time to have everything fixed by someone else before our event. The dress will still look beautiful, but it's definitely missing a good deal of crystals. The shop carries beautiful gowns, but not honoring what the shop staff tell you and the lack of a talented seamstresses to fix anything is not a good way to run a high end dress shop. I've had much better seamstress work done at David's Bridal! I would not recommend buying anything here, especially if it has beading or crystal work. read more

So far I am very pleased and excited with the service I received at Signature Dresses. I went there on a recommendation from a friend in search of a mother of the bride gown for my daughter's wedding in August. As soon as I walked in and told them what I was looking for, they immediately went to work and started pulling gowns for me to try on that not only fit the occasion, but were flattering for my body type. The shop is very nice and up to date and her dresses are in trend. I definitely left there with a sense of relief that I had finally found my MOB gown for my daughter's wedding. Gilda was beyond rude to her and had no disregard for the amount of $$ that clients are spending there! Then ordered the correct dress only to go in and find the size was again incorrect. I had to call several times to see if it had arrived. Update: Miracle of miracles. My dress came in overnight since I wrote this review. And knowing I was on a serious time crunch, no one bothered to call me, but instead packaged my dress to mail to me. It was dumb luck that I called them to ask about that missing tracking number...to find it was "boxed and ready to mail". The dress is beautiful. The stress lines this experience has added to my face, not so much. Original Review: On my first visit to this store, I found a great dress. Unfortunately, the tag they had attached was for a different designer, size and price. I'm so glad we noticed it at the register so we could make sure to order it in the correct size and pay the correct price. I should have taken that event as my cue to just stop and leave. Sucker that I was, though, I didn't. I ordered the dress after being told it would take three weeks to arrive. I was skeptical because we were just coming out of the pandemic, but figured even if it took twice as long, I had plenty of time. That was January 26. Today is April 26 and my event is in 9 days. I've been pretty laid back, not calling to harass them, etc. My phone records only indicate 6 interactions over the past four months. The reason I'm writing this review now is that I've learned they will tell you whatever they can to appease you. They are also very adept at making anyone who happens to be around in their shop think they are helpful to their customers when they call. It's all a sham. The only person who ever called me back was Gilda, the owner....once. I called last Saturday and was told, again, it was set to arrive this week (4/25/22). I was asked to call back on Monday for an update. When I called, I was told she had a tracking number. I asked for it. She said she would email it. She didn't. I called, again, Tuesday to ask about the missing tracking number/email. I was told the person who had it wasn't there. I asked when they would be in. I was told "before closing". Again, no email. No phone call. But best of all, no refunds. So, since I have no recourse, I will just make sure to yell loud...far and wide...and hope no one else finds them in my situation. I came to this store to buy a dress for a dinner at a three-star Michelin restaurant, where my boyfriend is planning to propose to me. Obviously, this is an incredibly important moment, and when I first came in to the store, I mentioned that to the saleswomen. However, my experience here was not up to the standard I was hoping for. Prior to coming in, I had called and asked if they took appointments, because I was hoping to receive individualised attention. Whoever answered the phone told me they do not accept appointments. Upon arriving, it was clear my salesgirl was managing multiple different customers at once. This was disappointing. If I'm trying on long, heavy gowns, I'm going to need someone to zip them up, pin them, etc. and because she was dealing with multiple people at once, I had to wait for her to come around. Throughout my time in the store, her and another associate kept trying to sell me on other dresses/outfits, which was also annoying. I finally decided on a dress. I bought a store sample for $900 and some jewelry, and with the cost of alterations the total was $1400. I was promised the dress would be ready in two days and that they would call me. After three days, still no one had called. I called 2 times that day to try to get the status of my dress/alterations. Customers should not have to chase you down or call you multiple times. You should be on top of your orders and reaching out to your customers before they can even think to call. To make it worse, every time I called the saleswoman kept saying it was my "prom" dress. I'm clearly not in high school, and this just further reinforced the fact that customers do not get individualised attention and care. I was finally able to pick up my dress 4 days later, and was rushed into and out of a fitting room because there were multiple customers in the store. I have worked in a custom gown store and have been a customer at one, and this is the very reason you are supposed to be by appointment only with a dedicated salesperson. I ending up paying $180 in alterations, and I still need to get the dress hemmed. I did not particularly enjoy my experience here. I wish I had read previous Yelp reviews before coming. If you're going to spend over $1000 at a store, you expect more. I don't intend on returning. read more

They were such problem solvers, and quick, accommodating yet taking the time to make it special. There are three sales women, but please work with the lady from Asia as she is an honest sales. We were working with the Asian lady from the beginning, then the WHITE girl (another sales) involved with. During the process of making purchase, we were not sure if we like the blue boutique or red boutique, the Asian lady told us the blue boutique price is $358. When she tried to find the price of the red boutique, the WHITE girl almost yelled her and told her the price is $499 - it makes me felt weird. The good thing is - my daughter always compares the price over the internet and she found out the red boutique is priced as $398 and the blue one is $358. As a matter fact, my daughter really like the blue boutique in the end, so, we just use some excuses to buy the blue one. read more

I purchased a beautiful Jovani dress as my second dress from Signature. The owners daughter (sorry I forgot her name) was super helpful in assisting me virtually as I lived in New Jersey. My mom went to the store the week prior to me coming into town and she was very patient showing me dresses and jumpsuits on FaceTime! She even set aside the dress that I liked so that I could try it on the following weekend. I was able to find the perfect dress, they priced matched the price I found online and gave me an additional discount because of a special they were running on white dresses for that day. I recently came from Houston to visit D.C and decided to visit signature dresses to look for my prom dress after having no luck in my home city. I agree with both of the reviewers. The selection is great, and the staff is great also. But the price! I was so pissed, falling victim to the classic "yeah the price is like $0238273 in store but it's on sale for 84." Actual retail price of the tank top that I bought? $89. I'm very surprised to see all the low ratings on this boutique. My daughter and I went to Dubai and found a gorgeous Tarik Ediz dress but we were flying back a few days later and they didn't have her size in stock. We looked online and every place we looked was unable to deliver the dress in time for her May 17 prom. I contacted everyone from Tarik Ediz Instagram to Facebook, I even had a friend who was in Istanbul at the time whom I asked to go check to see if the store there had the dress. I lastly reached out the showroom in New York. The gentleman suggested for me to give the Signature boutique a call and that "Gida" would get the job done. Without any hope I contacted the location and a day later I received a call informing me that the dress would arrive first week of May. We knew the dress and the size we needed so I just paid the amount over the phone and immediately received a payment confirmation via text. I then received a call yesterday, April 29 that the dress had arrived. A week prior to the original date. We went there today to try it on and it was perfect. The owner and another lady (both very nice and beautiful) were present when we arrived. I would certainly recommend this place based on my own experience there today. I also will say that their dress collection was almost identical to the one in the Dubai Mall. I typically have a difficult time finding nice gowns and if it wasn't for the gentleman from the NYC showroom I would have never even known this place existed. Thanks again! read more

Without a question the worst dress shopping experience I have had. Was forced to come here to get bridal party monstrosity (think lavender with flounces). Despite many promises that a size 16 could be remade into a size 4, the final product is badly constructed and ill-fitting. And they failed to keep the first two appointments they made for me to come in and try on the dress. And they failed to attach the straps, so I am still here waiting. Please do yourself a favor and never, ever set foot in this store. read more

I have been purchasing dresses and gowns from Signature for years. Walking into that store is like walking into Walt Disney World. I always tell them it's the place of dreams. I feel like a little girl every time I walk in the store. There are sparkles and sequins everywhere! I end up buying dresses before I even have a place to wear them just because they're so beautiful. I recently took my daughters there for a special occasion. We all tried on several dresses at first. When I explained to the owner what type of look we were going for, she brought out dresses for my daughters that not only made their eyes light up, but made them look absolutely beautiful and glamorous, without being inappropriate. The owner recommended a dress for me that I never would have tried on, but she was right- it was perfect for me. I highly recommend Gilda and her team at Signature! I just got my prom dress today and it was a great experience! All the employees were so nice and helpful. I was able to find the perfect dress with my size in no time. We had a most disappointing prom dress shopping experience at Signature. On our first visit, we found a gorgeous dress. It was a size 4, however, and my daughter is usually a size 2. In addition, there was a 1-inch rip in the zipper area. I asked the saleslady to order a new one in the right size. She informed me that the dress was discontinued, but that she could sell me this floor model for a very good discount and that she could have the dress altered (for free) to fit my daughter and that she could also fix the rip. The saleslady measured my daughter and pinned the dress up herself. She also took full payment for the dress. She promised it would be ready in one week. It was not ready for more than 2 weeks. When we finally went for a second fitting, I found that the rip was still there and the zipper was faulty. The saleslady pinned the dress for the hem and again promised that the rip would be fixed. She failed to inform me that there would be a charge for the hem, and she never quoted me for the hem. On our third visit to Signature, which is at least 45 minutes from my house, the dress still fit poorly. The bodice was simply too big, while the waist was too small. The zipper was still faulty. At this visit, they informed me that I owed $80 for the hem and will owe additional money (undetermined) to fix the fit issues. They refused to refund me. This time, the shop owner Gilda pinned the bodice and said they would let out an inch in the waist. I told them that the saleslady promised that the dress would be fixed to fit my daughter and that it was dishonest of them not to honor their promise. Gilda told me they don't have in-house tailors and they have to outsource the job and she has to pay those tailors. She also said the saleslady "did her best" in measuring and pinning my daughter for fit. In my experience, dress shops have in-house tailors who personally measure clients. Sorry, but I am not paying for a non-tailor who "did her best". By this time, both my daughter and I are so disheartened and frustrated by the situation, that I asked my husband to come in for the FOURTH visit. While the bodice fit this time, the waist was still too tight. And the rip was still there and the zipper still stuck. A different saleslady, a sweet Spanish-speaking lady (didn't get her name) helped out this time. She was actually helpful and the only bright spot in this saga. She knew that we needed the dress by the weekend and personally fixed all the issues and steamed the dress so we could take it home that day. She seemed like the only experienced seamstress/tailor in the whole shop. The dress now fit and the last issue was whether we would pay for the additional alterations. After a lot of discussion, we agreed to pay for the hem, but not the other alterations needed to make the dress fit. I still think it was shabby of them to spring on us the price of the hem after the fact, but we were so exhausted that we just wanted to be done and take home the dress. Gilda also tried to overcharge us on sales tax for the alterations. Sketchy! TL/DR Don't shop here. Out-sourced tailors bad. Spring extra charges without notice. PS--any 5-star reviews here may be influenced by the 10% discount given in return for a good yelp review! read more

The outcome of this entire ordeal........ we never received the wedding dress or the fabric that we paid for. We were refused a full refund and only offered jewelry worth about 1/4 of what we paid........ this was after months of lies and arguments with numerous staff members and the manager.
