If you work in a corporate environment and want high quality pieces, made very well, that are going to stand the test of time, here is your store. These are timeless, classic, high quality pieces. You'll pay more per item, but you'll get years of wear out of them. I have never had to take these pieces to a tailor to repair a hem or seam that came apart due to quality issues. This store was wonderful. I usually buy pieces online but it was a treat to come in and try on so many pieces in person. Ebony was a delight to work with and she was very knowledgeable about the pieces, the different options, and how to dress items up or down. It was really fun to try on so many items and purchase pieces right there. I will make a point to stop by whenever I'm back in DC. read more

I attended an evening shopping event with friends where I got to try on items to see what looked best and how things fit, and as part of that event, I was given a gift card to use toward purchases. I bought two items and used the gift card. When I received my items in the mail a couple of days later, one of the items fit weird and did not look as good on me as it had in the store. So I decided to return it, but I kept the other item. When the return was processed, the store refunded to the gift card first and then credited the rest of the refund to my original payment. I did not realize this was their policy, though, after I reached out to customer service, they pointed it out to me on their website (and they were very polite). This policy makes sense if you only buy one item and then return it, because, of course, a person should not be refunded more than they actually paid. But it does not make sense if you buy more than one item and keep some items, because if I had only bought the one item I kept (a skirt), I would have gotten to use the gift card on just that one item. It seems like a secretive, underhanded way to charge a restocking fee. I regret purchasing from this company and will never do so again. EDITED TO ADD: I had initially given a one-star review, but today, I received a follow-up email from customer service resolving my issue to my satisfaction, so I am changing my review to three stars. I am not giving more stars, because their policy remains the same, and others may not receive the same resolution I did. So do keep in mind that if you return something on which you used a gift card, that return will process to the gift card first, even if you purchased other items. I am in DC for vacation. I took a tour of Georgetown which ended about an hour before this store closed. I walked in an explained that I was a customer who had never made a purchase. I did the bento box, but never approved the suggestions. I didn't trust that the clothing would fit me properly. The return process is always painful and these are expensive items. So, I asked the woman who greeted me to help me with sizing. She did a great job. She brought me options that were petite friendly and more expansive than my original request. So, I had several options to consider. I purchased a jardigan, 3/4 sleeve knit top in cream, two pair of foster pants, leather belt, and better than denim pants. Right now they are open by appointment only, and it was easy to schedule through the website. I have never done a fitting with a stylist before and it's about darn time. Faymi was great to work with! She provided good suggestions and methodically helped me work through the collections to narrow down my top picks. It was amazing because many of the pieces I wouldn't have given a second look on a rack and yet they looked great when I had them on. She helped me make outfits out of the pieces that were most complimentary for my body. She also set my expectations--they have pieces in their showroom that are samples, so not all colors are available in all sizes, which means that the majority of my purchase was going to be shipped to me. The clothes themselves are high-quality--most of the fabrics have a buttery feel. And I love that the clothes all have stretch, are wrinkle-resistant, and machine washable! Pro tips: 1. With an upcoming high-profile event on the hill rapidly approaching, I had two options: venture into Nordstrom Rack or Saks Off Fifth and search endlessly for hours trying to find outfits that worked for each day of the event, eventually collapsing into exhausted, frustrated tears - or let someone else do all the work for me. I opted for the latter. As someone who loves fashion, this is something I wouldn't regularly do; the hunt is part of what makes the perfect outfit so satisfying, and I typically don't want or need any help finding something to wear. But, we're all human, and sometimes we just don't have the energy for all that. In my case, I'm currently at a size I'm just not comfortable with or used to being at, so shopping isn't fun for me at the moment - especially when it's for a super important event. Just do it for me. Please. Cue MMLa.Fleur. You make an appointment ahead of time and fill out a form describing your event, size, etc. When you arrive, they offer you a glass of prosecco, gather more specifics of what you're looking for re: color and style, then they pick out stuff for you to try on. From my stylist's selection, I found two dresses and a "jardigan" that worked within maybe twenty minutes. In the end, I only got one of the dresses and the jardigan because the total price tag for the three would have been $600+, which seemed unnecessary to spend on a two-day work event. But it was fine because the single dress I bought is simple enough that I can just acessorize it differently two days in a row and be good. MM.LaFleur has an aggressive marketing approach with paid ads on social (isn't that how we all learned about them?) and as someone in marketing myself, I pay attention to taglines... which is why I have to take a minute to discuss one of their favorites, "Your clothes should be the least interesting thing about you." I'm gonna be real here - if you regularly outfit yourself with MM.LaFleur, your wardrobe will absolutely be the least interesting thing about you, lol. They're not wrong. Their items are extremely classic and definitely perfect for the hill, but they're not exciting or creative in any way, which is why I can't give a five. Unless you have an extraordinarily uptight job (and life), you should probably not get ALL of your clothes here. I've been wanting to try on M.M. LaFleur clothing for a long time now and made an appointment for a Sunday early evening. I filled out the questionnaire, providing necessary details, and let my excitement grow. Well, besides the store being absolutely beautiful and Jasmine, my stylist, doing her best, it was a pretty disappointing experience. I arrived 5 minute early for my appointment and was offered a drink, which was a nice touch. After a few minutes my stylist came over to say hello and while she referenced my questionnaire, we verbally went through each question again, including talking about my size while out in the open in front of the receptionist and a woman who was just browsing the samples. I thought there might be a bit of discretion when you are supposed to be having an experience where the focus is on your comfort. Jasmine had not pulled any items so I sat for another 10 minutes and my appointment didn't start until around 5:15pm. Given the other reviews I had read ahead of time, it just didn't feel like I was expected or very personalized. The clothes just aren't for me. They have interesting fabrics and I think it's amazing that most of them are washable and wrinkle free but they are also very form fitting. I just don't think they are very body friendly for those that don't have a perfectly slim figure. I did appreciate that Jasmine kept bringing out new items and was definitely listening to my feedback but I told her that in most of the clothes I felt like I was doing an impression of someone else. I appreciated that there was no pressure to buy anything and that the whole process was explained clearly. Jasmine did note a few items I did like so that they would be in my profile moving forward. This clothing is overpriced; the material is washable BUT wrinkles very easily and for what you're paying, the fit is NOT flattering. Ladies, go to Nordstrom and save yourself some heartache. This company, with their fancy stores, social media campaigns and advertising shenanigans- has managed to entice the busy working woman to buy into their garbage and I was one of them. $125 top washed once and now looks moderately worn. Clothing is very wrinkly and requires lots of maintenance to keep fresh. $200 for pants, $300 for shoes, $125 for a simple sleeveless. ??!??!??! At these prices, I'd expect no-iron fabric, usability (easy to get on & off), etc. NOT THE CASE. Their return policy is strict. Do not waste your money here. A complete rip-off. And, there is no way to post a review on their website. How ironic - they certainly don't want real customers like me (not paid models advertising their crap) complaining and impacting their sales. As another Yelper mentioned, "their largely cheap-fabric clothes aren't worth the price and their service is shameful." Couldn't agree more. Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, J.Crew, etc., all have washable office apparel that are more affordable and their stores provide expert service if help is needed. If only you could give Negative stars. Worst shopping experience I've ever had. Received my Bento Box. Found one top that I really liked. I liked several other items but they were all Sooo over priced. So sent everything else back after placing my order for the shirt online and paying. When I was billed, discovered that they also charged me for a $195 pair of slacks that I had sent back. They said there was a new system at the warehouse that made a mistake and they would refund my $195 plus tax. That they just assumed I had changed my mind and kept the slacks. Then they came back and said they were unable to refund my money because I had disputed the charge on PayPal. I contacted PayPal and they said there should be no issue at all with the refund and that they could call them for help. Gave the stylist the PayPal number and case number. She claimed she contacted them but was still unable to refund my money due to the dispute. I was advised by PayPal to leave the dispute on until they sent the refund. This company was supposed to make shopping easier but the headache is unbelievable. read more

The positives: The clothes are extremely well-made and the fabrics appropriate for the price point. The K Street store is a gorgeous setting. Customer service was responsive and helpful when I had an issue with my first order, think Zappos level exemplary. The negatives: Nothing. Is. Ever. In. Stock. Ever. It seems this has been a known issue based on an interview I read with the Founder from over a year ago. It is unfortunate because I would love to be a fan but waiting months for items to come available, without a straight answer if it ever will, is a rather absurd and unsustainable business model. Resolving inventory issues would go a long way. The Stylists at the K Street store are also hit or miss. Some are extremely helpful, everything you would expect of the experience while others provide no feedback on fit or what works with your body type and what doesn't, which is kind of the point of the in-person appointment. read more

I am the worlds laziest person when I comes to clothes and every morning I pretty much want to sleep as much as possible, throw on something black so the inevitable coffee stains don't show, and look put together without thinking. I also recently transitioned from working in a retail environment where I wore jeans and a t-shirt every day to a more professional one. I made an appointment with MM and let them know all of this. When I arrived, the stylist had pulled things that fit that bill perfectly, as well as a few things that stretched it. She was incredible about finding alternate sizes or items for things that just don't fit or work for my body. I ended up finding several items, one of which, the Aditi, has become my "badass-world-conquering" dress. I will be purchasing this in multiple colors. The customer service after is also fantastic. I put myself on a waitlist for an out of stock item, and a stylist emailed me and asked if I wanted to order it when they got it in stock. Ordering was as easy as replying to an email. Also, after about two washes, the hem of my Sarah dress came out and within 48 hours and about two emails, I was offered a refund to take it to a local tailor or a replacement. I opted to take it to a tailor, and the money was back on my card quickly. I think they might have changed the hemming method, though. I bought my Sarah around February/March and the Etsuko I bought a few weeks ago has a different hem, almost like an adhesive. read more

I admit I was skeptical at first about the prices of the clothing and the idea of wearing only a few pieces interchangeably through the week (though that idea is not new to me--my significant other has been practicing this uniform approach after he "broke up" with clothing sometime last year!) Let me tell you: the process was amazing. Even at a bigger size, my stylist worked with me to figure out what I liked and didn't like. I had already listed a few things that I liked and didn't like in my online appointment, but my stylist, Madeline, went even further and suggested styles that would look good on me that I never dreamed of in a million years. I had my significant other there for a second opinion, and they made him feel right at home, involving him in the process as well. I walked out with 6 beautifully designed and made pieces that work well as both day and evening wear (the long cardigan is my favorite piece, and probably my most coveted). I have multiple MM dresses, and while the styles and fit are wonderful, the quality is pretty awful (especially for the price point). I have two machine-washable styles, the Annie and the Emily, and I noticed several seams beginning to come loose after the first wash of the Emily. I've tried delicate cycles, hand washing, and even switched to dry cleaning that dress - the seams are continuing to come undone in random parts of the dress. The Annie seems to get stretched out in the neckline/shoulder area every time I wash it, so I've switched to dry cleaning that one as well. The two dry-clean dresses I have, the Peche and the Emma, are both not the best quality either. The Emma is super restrictive in the arm/armpit area - even though the dress feels somewhat loose in the shoulders and sleeves, I can see the fabric starting to fray/pull when I lift my arms over my head. I really want to like this brand, and it's unfortunate that the quality is so subpar. read more

Every piece of clothing that I purchased from MMLafleur is PERFECT for my work world and make me feel empowered, confident and beautiful. I am a big fan of their classic dresses ie. Sarah, Aditi and Etzuko which match my body shape and style nicely. The shoes ( finally they added shoes) are also great . The CON.. the price I think is too high for the quality For example the lovely Albright Jacket that I acquired only a few months ago is fraying . For $300+ jacket this is disappointing. I'm on the fence. I don't know how I feel about the 'buy more clothes so that you can call yourself a minimalist' fad, but I do try to limit my closet to quality pieces that are flexible and will last for many years. I've been burned in the past by companies that promised durable machine washable clothes (nope: still had pilling after a few washes) or high tech breathable fabrics (nope: still uncomfortable) so I came in wanting to pick just a piece or two that I could test for durability before investing in a full work wardrobe. My stylist had pulled pieces in my favorite color, which I noted in my appointment request. That was nice, but it was the high note of the whole appointment. I don't think that we clicked somehow and she really wasn't as helpful as I hoped she might be. She also wasn't very familiar with the care instructions for the pieces. Luckily I checked before purchasing, because the Jardigan is apparently dry clean only. I ended up buying a Gayle dress, which although not dry clean only does have some wording on the care label that implies that I will ruin it if I do not hand wash. I booked my MM visit a few months ago, as soon as I found out I would be in DC for business. I love their clothes, but I have had trouble with Bento boxes lately. I am petite and everything I pulled out of the box seemed to made for a giant. That is why I was so excited for this appointment. I would have a chance to look, touch and try on so many different styles. Briana was a champion, I could tell she felt my pain. She pulled styles that leaned toward petite and I walked away with so many fantastic pieces. Including pants!!! I am very curvy and never thought any of MM's pants had a chance of fitting me correctly. I was wrong. She also helped me develop a wish list and was just a delight to work with. So fast and easy, please, if you have the time, stop by, you won't regret it. I see some complaints about the quality, I have had many pieces for about 3 years now and never have had a single issue with any of them. Where to begin... I love this MM Lafleur. It is shopping made easy. In my busy life this works. I always find several items in my box that fit perfectly and work well for my body shape and size. I feel the designs are thoughtful and intuitive. The best thing about MM Lafleur is that I don't have to shop at all anymore for my business/work clothes. What a relief! I would have to agree with some of the other reviewers that the price point is a little high. If the price point were a slight bit lower I think I would buy more pieces. This is something I have had to budget for to be able to afford. There have been some isolated quality issues that I have been able to remedy myself without returning items but over all I think the classic design, great fit and convenience out weigh the periodic quality issues. The clothes are high qualify and fit well but they supposedly offer complimentary alterations which, thus far in my experience does not appear to be true. I purchases a pair of leggings and called Customer Service for information on how to go about getting them altered. I was told that there was no complimentary alterations and to tke the item to a local seamstress. The next day I called Customer Service again and this time I was told that thet did offer complimentary alterations through a company named Hemster. I was sent an email with a link that I was told to fill out, which I did. But it was difficult to tell if the information actually went through. After not receiving a reply when 5 days had gone by I called CS again. I was told that the information submitted to Hemster did go through and that I should hear from them in 2 days. When I told the CS rep that it had already been 5 days she said that they were busy and that they would eventually call but that this was a separate company that she could do nothing about the fact that they had not replied. It has now been 1.5 to 2 weeks and I still have not heard from Hemster. From my perspective the advertisement of complimentary alterations is simply untrue. And the reps at CS do not provide consistent answers or meaningful help. read more

I recently became aware of MM. LaFleur after seeing their ads on social media. I was immediately intrigued by the clean, classic, professional look of their clothes and absolutely LOVE the fact that almost everything is a crisp, solid color. My conundrum was the sizing, as I tend to be a challenging fit as a very tall yet curvy woman. When I saw that there was a DC showroom, I immediately booked an appointment and am so glad I did. The showroom is well located, lovely, clean and elegant. My stylist, Brianna, had already put together some items based on what I'd requested over the phone - so I was able to start trying on items without wasting any time having to look through endless racks as you would in a typical store. Just as I'd guessed, I wore vastly different sizes in various items, based on the cut. I do agree with some of the other reviewers and think many of the items are cut for thinner women with fewer curves. Brianna was terrific at switching things out though, and had a great sense of which items/sizes would work for me. I am also thrilled that this company includes a full array of sizes and hasn't turned their back on the plus size market, in the way that many upscale clothing lines have. As a result, I ended up putting together a capsule wardrobe of fabulous staples, which was just what I had been hoping to do. All around this was an outstanding and efficient experience. Really enjoyed my appointment here. I was matched with a stylist that was also petite so she had lots of truthful recommendations about which pieces fit best. It was all very relaxing and no pressure - I felt like I initiated the sales process more than she did. Items shipped fast (within a week) and are great quality. Clothes all kind of look the same after awhile and are very "DC" in many ways. I wish they had bolder prints, colors, or patterns but I suppose the have to cater to a wide range of folks so the basic DC business professional look has to work for the masses. I have been buying M.M.LaFleur clothes for five years now, after giving up on Banana Republic, J.Crew and Ann Taylor in frustration. Reviewers that say those brands' clothing are on par or better than MM are 100% wrong. The first time I put on an M.M.LaFleur dress I could immediately see how much thought their designers put into things like fabric, seams, draping and cut. I call it "M.M. Magic" when I put on a boring-looking piece and it turns into something fabulous on the body. Cut to five years later and I still have that first M.M. dress, plus a closet full of other M.M. pieces. My coworkers don't even bother asking me where that fabulous new dress/top/knit/pants came from anymore. Never going back to Ann Taylor, I'll spend the extra $$ for the magic!! read more

I went in looking for suits, only to be told that they didn't have suits, or a large selection of separates that could be made into suits. Quality of clothing is so, so and 90% of it is synthetic material. While the idea behind the business model is great, I found the options they had in their showroom to be frumpy. My stylist didn't seem to really understand what I needed, while I am a very picky shopper, I expect a service that markets itself to " the professional woman" to understand body types, business formal and also be honest about how things look. I originally found MM.laFleur on line and was going to order clothes from them but when I found out they now have a DC store I made an appointment so that I could see how the clothes fit, and how they were made. This company knows what is important to working women! The clothes are knit blends or ponte wool and can be tossed in the washing machine! The clothes are stylish, flattering, and comfortable. The stylist is waiting for you, she has pulled out a dozen items for you to try on to gauge what size you wear in their brand (they run a little small) and you go from there. I prefer V necks to high round necks, but they do not have that many, in fact most of their blouses just have too much fabric for me. I ended up buying 2 dresses, a knit cardigan jacket and a blouse. I get compliments with both dresses immediately, the blouse I will return for a different color than they had in the store. Terrible customer service and policies. I'm so disappointed by your shady behavior, because I thought this would become my go-to brand. I bought a pair of $200 pants using a $100 gift card. I chatted with a stylist and decided to buy it in two sizes and return one, because I wasn't sure of the fit. When I returned one of the sizes, they took $50 off the return credit saying that the card was applied proportionately to each pair, so I lost $50! That is NOT how gift cards work! I had to email three times before the agent "gave" me a $50 credit toward my next purchase. How about you return the $50 that you essentially stole!? Given your response, I never want to purchase anything from you again-- what good does a $50 credit do!? I expect far better. read more

Great marketing and beautiful store, however the quality of the clothes did not seem too impressive. In fact I would say their quality of clothes is poor, only slightly better than H&M. I found this surprising because the price of M.M.LaFleur's clothing does not match the cheap quality of their clothes. One black dress I bought began to unravel at the seem on the first wear, after one gentle wash (the label said it was wash friendly). I contacted M.M.LaFleur & they said that has not happened before to their knowledge, but they exchanged it. The same thing happened to the second dress. I ended up having professional mended by a tailor. My first purchase of two dresses, a blouse, and a skirt will also be my last. read more
