    We eat Korean bbq a lot so I think we have pretty high standards. Sik Gaek was so amazing! It wasn't all you can eat but the quality of the food really came through. All the meat cuts we had were great but our favorite is always marinated kalbi. The starter salad was also a favorite. It's a fun ambiance for family dinner (a little noisy with the kpop music) but they were very nice and turned down the volume upon request. They cook the meat for you. The service was very attentive and kind! Mike was super helpful and taught us the Korean ways of preparing the lettuce wrap or to combine the meat with daikon. I can't wait to come back!

    Just had an incredible dining experience at Sikgaek--and honestly, it's now one of my favorite Korean BBQ spots in NYC! Located in Woodside, just minutes from Manhattan, this cozy gem has been serving up authentic Korean flavors since 2010. They've recently refreshed their menu (seafood is out, more K-BBQ goodness is in!) and the space is beautifully decorated with warm vibes and super friendly staff. We went all in with the Sikgaek Prime Combo--featuring Prime Short Rib, Prime Ribeye, and Prime Brisket. The meats were so tender and flavorful, and the best part? The staff grills it all right at your table, so you can sit back and enjoy every sizzling bite.

    Side dishes were stale. Dressing on the salad was gross. Kimchee stew was decent (can't go wrong with that), Bulgogi was dry.

    Came in on what looked like a slow Monday afternoon -- only one other table was occupied in the whole restaurant. We ordered a few dishes, and honestly, everything was pretty mid. Portion sizes were decent, but that didn't make up for the lack of flavor. We didn't even bother trying the KBBQ grill because the prices were ridiculous -- over $90 for just three types of meat? For that price, you could get all-you-can-eat KBBQ elsewhere. Makes no sense. It almost feels like good service is reserved for the people who spend big on their overpriced meats, just because that means a bigger tip. But honestly, even if the food had been good, it still wouldn't have made up for the poor service. Our server, Mike, took our order and then vanished. I'm not exaggerating -- we saw him chilling in the back, fully tuned into his computer screen, smiling and laughing. Just because it's a slow day doesn't mean you get to check out completely. Meanwhile, the couple next to us -- who did order the grill -- were getting great service. Maybe it's because they spent more, or maybe Mike just didn't vibe with us for whatever reason. Either way, it was noticeable. As a paying customer, I'm not just here to eat -- I'm here to dine in. That includes being taken care of. I might as well have done takeout. I had to literally wave Mike down just to get the check and boxes -- something that should have been offered without asking. And when he finally brought the boxes, he didn't even include a bag. Like... how am I supposed to carry four containers on the train? Does it look like I've got four hands? I can't imagine what service is like when the place is actually busy. Mike seemed totally checked out, and it definitely impacted the overall experience. And when the service is bad, it makes the food taste even worse. Long story short, Mike needs to seriously improve by doing the basics of his job -- checking in, being present, and treating all customers like they matter, regardless of how much they spend.

    Great local Korean in Sunnyside, Queens! They've revamped the menu and it's as great as ever. Check out their dining in lunch specials are not to be missed and best part of it all it's only $24. Great value for the meal and all the sides.

    I recently had dinner at Sik Gaek for the first time with my husband and brother, and it was somewhat of a mixed experience. We had ordered delivery once before during but hadn't been in person (we usually head to Flushing or K-town for Korean food). I will start by saying that it was rather busy for a Sunday night, and there was only one server working for the first hour that we were there. He was visibly overwhelmed and I felt really bad for him, so we willingly grilled our own meat, which he seemed to appreciate. The food overall is decent. IMO the quality of the meat isn't as great as some of the spots in Flushing and K-town, but it's certainly way better than Wonder Pig. I liked their kimchi jeon and kimchi jigae as well. I wish they brought out steamed egg and cheese corn on the house like other places, but it wasn't a big deal to pay for it. I do really wish they would improve their banchan game (including refills) and bring out raw garlic and jalapeños with the lettuce. Also, the lettuce we received had seen some better days and was brown in spots. All in all, I would give this place a 3.5 but am rounding it up to 4 because I feel sorry for the staff and because it's a decent Korean spot for this part of Queens.

    This is a great place to eat and drink with friends late at night. Atmosphere, staff, and service were all great! All of the food we had were delicious. The bbq items were expensive so we didn't order any of that. The watermelon soju pitcher was quite worth it as you get an actual watermelon filled with soju.

    The food here is so good. I will definitely be coming here again. The servers were so attentive and brought us the food pleasantly fast. The place itself has enough tables we didn't need to wait to be seated and the ambiance is pretty quiet. When I'm in Woodside I be thinking of this place

    I had a very nice dining experience last Friday. The food was very delicious, they have a variety of lunch boxes to choose from. I had the tofu soup and chicken combo which was very good. The staff is very friendly and attentive. And the atmosphere is very cozy, relaxing and enjoyable. I highly recommend Sik Gaek whenever you are in the area! :)

    Use to come here like 20yrs ago when it was still good. But things went downhill. The seafood hotpot was just made up of a lobster some clams, mussels, 1 small lobster, crabs, 1 abalone and bean sprout on the bottom. Pretty expensive for $99. Flavor was mediocre. Will not come back.

    We love this place! They were so nice and friendly, we really enjoyed this vibes. And they were doing seafood, but they are offering KBBQ now!!! So yummm!

    I hate to be an outlier in the plethora of pleasant reviews, but I had a mediocre Korean BBQ experience here on a Sunday evening. The ambiance is 10/10 though with plenty of group seating available and a large TV screen showing K-pop music videos. We got the takoyaki as a starter and given this is a well-known Japanese snack, we should have known better not to order it in a Korean spot. The takoyaki balls were way smaller in size than any other takoyaki I've had elsewhere. There were barely any dried bonito shavings and no green seaweed sprinkles on the dish. The batter was a bit undercooked and the diced octopus slice inside each ball was quite small. I wouldn't recommend this starter. For kbbq, they don't have a ton of different combo options: 2 beef and 1 pork option to be shared between 2-3 people and 1 mixed option for 3-4 people. We opted to get the non-combo option as the combo prices were higher than Manhattan prices (think on par with and maybe even higher than Jongro). Note that if you order two different meats, your bbq will not get cooked in front of you, and if you order beef brisket, they require for you to do a minimum of two orders since the beef needs to be sliced once you order. Needless to say, this was a rule heavy menu, making it hard for us to select different meats without breaking the bank. We opted to get two orders of the beef brisket to get our meat cooked in front of us. The brisket was thinly sliced, but still had lots of chewy and tough parts, not dissolving in your mouth at each bite. The kbbq did come with 2 orders of rice, lettuce, and some onions and mushrooms to be grilled along with your meat. The banchan was varied and overall solid. The portions of banchan in each bowl were quite small though, which made it awkward for us having to keep asking for refills every time. They have a good selection of drinks, including a few flavors of soju and makgeolli. The grapefruit soju is delicious and cut the grease of the meat perfectly. I'd want to try some of their stir fries, hot pots, soups, and other classic Korean dishes before ruling this place out. I came here back in the day when they weren't serving bbq and remember the hot pots being solid. I even had the raw octopus here back then, which has since been removed from the menu.

    My friends wanted KBBQ in Sunyside that was NOT AYCE. I had noticed this restaurant while riding the 7 train decided why not. At worse, we will just go to Wonder Pig next time (an AYCE nearby). Food + Drink: 4.5/5 You should really go here with someone who has experienced KBBQ before because it will help you order strategically. Most of they grill items need to be purchased twice so double the price tag (see menu pics). For grilled items, we went with a combo with a side order of pork belly. This is a restaurant where they will grill for you and give you a great ban chan (an assortable of small sides). We ordered some appetizers (Jap chea + tteokbokki), the raspberry wine, and watermelon soju punch bowl. My disappointment were the Jap chea was really small (it seemed to be more veggie than noodle), and most of the meat seemed overcooked, as a medium rare steak lover. Still my group was happy we went and hopes to come back. All in all, I would go back. However, this place is not for those with light pockets. My group of four spent around $200 on this adventure but do not regret. This offers a calmer environment than Wonder Pig.

    Is live octopus still available for dine in?

    No, when ordering delivery there is no ban chan included unfortunately

    Do they still serve live octopus?

    Is it weird if you only order the live octopus and nothing else?

    It is not weird. That dish is 30$. A lot of people in Korea just order that with rice and eat the samplers they give you. Also comes with a fried egg.

    Is it easy to get sitting? And is parking bad? Also how full do they tend to get?

    It is quite busy and we lucked out. Parking, I'm not sure where.. B/c we took the subway and it was like a minute walk from the train stop. Maybe try them during the week? But most definitely the weekend nights are busy.

    Do they ever run out of the raw octopus legs?

    No, they have full tank of it. And not that many people order them.

We used to go to this restaurant all the time to eat, but its condition is getting worse and worse than before. The two of us who went to dinner yesterday were served such disgusting garbage foods. There were flies and gnats flying all over our food. There were no waiters, just an old woman. She didn't come to refill the water once, didn't pick up the plate after we finished eating, and didn't even take it away until we paid the bill. But even though we gave an 18% tip, she came back later to ask for the tip, saying it wasn't enough. From now on, we will never go to this restaurant. They threw away the garbage and put octopus dust in our food. This is a restaurant run by people who can't afford to eat. If the tips are low, the shameless ones come back to beg.

The Korean fried chicken (soy garlic) is an easy go-to as is the bulgolgi burger, which is a pricey guilty pleasure. I appreciate their inclusion of (various!) jajangmyeon and tangsoo yuk, both famous from their Korean Chinese roots. Though the portions could be more substantial, I dig their jiggae lineup of kimchi, seafood, and budaejiggae. They've also got pajun, mansion, ramyun and naengmyeon as well.
