I'm gonna call it quits with this one - the bulgogi kimbap is sometimes nice, but this time it tasted so off... enough that I was upset. Making matters worse I had the rice cake and dumpling soup and it was inedible. The dumplings tasted freezer burnt stale and ruined what would've been a nice broth. The bulgogi tasted spoiled and pickled at the same time. I always order an 8oz of their fish cake and this time it tasted like a not so great burnt jerky, saturated in some salty sauce that made it inedible. I finally got to eat at Doma and I realize now why it has taken me so long. They don't take reservations but it is literally so small inside they can only seat 4 tables at a time. I will say though, Korean food is not necessarily the best when it comes to vegan/vegetarian options, so definitely make any dietary restrictions clear before ordering. I did ask to make some alterations and our server seemed happy to accommodate. Even if the menu description doesn't say things have meat in them, it's likely you'll find a random beef dumpling or piece of pork/chicken in your tofu stew anyway. Overall, would recommend! Their sweet soy rice cakes are soft and chewy, and come with shredded veggies and mandu. I tend to order mine without the mandu because it becomes soggy in the sauce, and I prefer mine crispy. Just ordered delivery from Doma! I got the combo that includes dubbokki, donkatsu and kimbap. Overall, I think it was tasty. The only thing I didn't like was that the dubbokki had barely any rice cakes! A classic dubbokki has some veggies and mostly rice cake and fish cake. But I would say that it was 70% veggies and 30% rice cake :( The kimbab was yummy and the donkatsu was very good as well. I was craving Korean food while far from home, this spot seemed to be the right place to quell those cravings. The selection of Korean restaurants in Koreatown is probably more plentiful, but queens to Manhattan just for lunch is a bit of a trek, so I decided to stay in the neighborhood. Doma is a very small restaurant, there are 4 tables inside and 2 tables outside, at any given time they could not serve more than 12 customers simultaneously, it is the definition of a hole in the wall. When I walked in there was no one greeting me and the waitress didn't show up until a few minutes later which was a bit strange, I was considering leaving because I thought there was just no wait staff. There was only one person waiting tables and it was hard to get her attention as I was seated outside and she didn't check on me very frequently. I ordered spicy pork rice over a stone pot, and while the flavor was good, I gotta say the serving size was definitely way too small. It's a small restaurant with a few tables that seats 2-4 people. When we arrived there it was empty so we picked a table and ordered: Assorted Fried Mandoo (7 pieces) consisted of vegetables, kimchi, meat. Spicy Squid Dupbap -- way too spicy for me though my friend wasn't a fan Bulgogi Bibimbap - this was a big dish -- good for sharing Kimchi Jigae - soft tofu -- this was delicious. Soy Garlic Combo Fried Chicken - thick fried skin is my only issue but it's fried chicken! So good that we came back there week after to try ramen dish without soup. I usually order take out from Doma, but decided to eat in once and had to leave a review. The lady that was serving us was so kind and attentive. She always made sure everything was good. The food also came out very quick. I ordered the set 4 which is the Udong, tangsooyuk, and dukboki. I also ordered a spicy pork kimbap, my usual. The food from the set was good but similar to what you could find at any Korean place. Their complimentary soup is the best! It's spicy, refreshing, and I can literally feel my throat clearing up. Their spicy pork kimbap is also amazing, the flavor of the pork is very prominent. However, they add so much sesame oil that I can't eat it without a utensil just because the oil gets everywhere. It's still delicious though! Some of their dishes also have a lot of accessories like cabbage, mushrooms, eggplants than I expected. Their dukboki has around 10-12 rice cakes and everything else was the accessories that I didn't really want. I can't believe this place is so close to me and I had never seen it. Well I'm glad I finally got to try it because it's such a gem. I came for lunch and the place isn't big but it's cozy enough to eat in or you can always do take out. I had the beef bulgogi over rice and it was delicious. It was a stir fry of steak, peppers, cabbage, mushrooms and scallions with white rice. The portion was perfect and the flavors were amazing. I did noticed most of the other people at the restaurant were having a soup. My curiosity got the best of me and I asked what it was. This is a hidden gem! I ant believe I didn't know about this place until now. The place is cozy, maybe can only fit 10-12 people. Service was great! The waiter and waitress were so nice! Get the soy garlic chicken wings! It's the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and crunchy. Much better than UFC. L.A. Galbi box: galbi was good, not burnt like at Natural Tofu Restaurant. Even the vegetables underneath the Galbi was seasoned and tasty. I ate them all, and I'm a carnivore. The salad with black pepper dressing was good too. I never tried a black pepper dressing. But it made me more veggies. Bibimbap: all the veggies were fresh. Fried meat dumplings: I was surprised it wasn't greasy at all. It was very crispy and so good. Seafood pancake: it was like a deep dish Korean pizza. Ok maybe I exaggerated but it was a huge portion and they didn't skimp on the squid. There was squid in every bite, not just batter. Recently ordered for delivery & while my delivery was within the expected timeframe, my overall experience was just okay. The bulgogi was not what I've come to expect from other local Korean restaurants. It was more like some kind of 'Sarku Japan' beef teriyaki. The flavor of the sauce was not typical bulgogi & it was a bunch of cabbage (not meat). The galbi was greasy & bland, and also served with a bunch of cabbage & just ~ 5/6 pieces of rib meat. The wings were crispy & I appreciate that they send them dry w/ sauce on the side (which kept them crispy), but they could not make up for the other 2 failed entrées. read more
