I had came for lunch and to be honest the food felt lackluster. Bimbap was very underwhelming and was really only carried by the gochujang I added. The fried chicken didn't give me the strong taste of soy garlic I get from other restaurants. It felt more like a regular chicken wing. I got sick after eating the food there. Please don't go to this restaurant, there is a high chance that you will get sick too. They serve very bad food. We used to go to this restaurant all the time to eat, but its condition is getting worse and worse than before. The two of us who went to dinner yesterday were served such disgusting garbage foods. There were flies and gnats flying all over our food. There were no waiters, just an old woman. She didn't come to refill the water once, didn't pick up the plate after we finished eating, and didn't even take it away until we paid the bill. But even though we gave an 18% tip, she came back later to ask for the tip, saying it wasn't enough. From now on, we will never go to this restaurant. This is one of my favorite places to eat authentic Korean food. I believe it's owned by two sweet grandma's because I always see them and they help me whenever I order. They're always super nice and sometimes give extra side dishes when I order a lot for my family! I keep coming back here, and although I've always done takeout, I plan to eat inside eventually. The place is clean and very home-y. Honestly every single thing I've tried here has been absolutely delicious. But my favorite dish here is the seafood pancake and the galbi-tang. I went to this restaurant with my family, but I encountered an older staff member, who seemed to be the owner, speaking very rudely to me after I had already paid. The issue started because the staff wanted me to leave a cash tip, but I insisted on tipping via credit card. After that, I was scolded in what I believe was Korean -- I recognized it because the older staff member walked away from my table looking extremely upset. I felt awful about the whole experience. I first went here literally 20 years ago and just went back yesterday for the first time since. Same sweet greeting at the door, same delicious food. SCARY EXPERIENCE: just got home from visiting this place. I went with my disabled mother. We were shown a table and menus left on table. We ordered the BBQ beef and the kimchi fried rice. When we were brought a bunch of little bowls with tiny portions of "side dishes" I asked what one of them was. The waitress responded "potato" and turned away in split second, without asking if I had any other questions. Waitress had a stern look, never a slight smile, or a smirk. When serving the dishes she never looked at us, never asked if we needed anything else. Just dropped dishes and left. My mother mentioned the sort of rudeness from the waitress. The BBQ beef was very tasty, although the pieces of beef were tiny. Not worth the $40 paid. The rice was good, nothing extraordinary. As we were getting ready to leave, my mother asked to use the lady's room. We informed that the restroom was downstairs, had not walk several steps down. My mother could not use the restroom. My check was $60.90. Our service was rude to say the least. I left 3 $20 bills and one $5 bill. Usually the waiter takes the cash payment and brings back the change. But the waitress stood right next to me and said in a forceful tone: the tip is at least $11. The law in NYC says that the minimum is 18%, she continued. I responded that I was not obligated to leave a tip, and that I thought that $4 was tip enough for the service received. She started screaming at me extremely aggressive, while my mother looked on in shock. The waitress took my $5 bill and threw it at me. I took it and said well, you got no tip then. I took a $1 and left it on the table. She threw the $1 back at me. I took it and proceeded to walk towards the exit with my mother. Both the waitress and another female attendant continued screaming at us. When we reached the street, both attendants came out running and screaming that they were calling the police, that I owed them $1. I responded that the waitress had thrown the dollar back at me, so I took it. They were both yelling in Korean, so I grabbed the one dollar from my pocket and gave it to them. We turned and proceeded to walk and they continued to yell what I assume were insults in Korean. We feared being assaulted. I have read other comments and am surprised that other people have recently very similar issues with the horrible service and the demand for 18% tip. No food is worth the feeling of being threatened and disrespected by a service provider. I could not even take my receipt. If you want quality food and to be treated well stay clear from this place. My friend and I walked in and no one welcomed us, but that's ok we're just here for food, right? We get our food and they taste a little "old" and not all that good (we got the tteokbokki and bulgogi bibimbap) compared to the Korean food we get at Seoul tofu in flushing or BCD tofu house in manhattan (which I do recommend). Which even then is ok, we wanted to try a new local place near us and we found out it's not for us, no biggie. My problem lies in the fact that both servers were deep in their phones to the point where it took me a good ten minutes to even get their attention for water. And then when we were done, another ten minutes to get their attention for the check. In fact, several times one of them did glance at us and made eye contact only to immediately look away, hello? But fear not, all their words and attention suddenly appeared when it came time to sign our receipt and give them a tip. That lady all of a sudden did not shy away from eye contact, standing right next to our table literally staring us down. Obviously we didn't want to give them 18% being that their service was beyond terrible, but still we decided to give them 15%. She counted the cash in front of us and suddenly she was able to speak and let us know we actually owe her one more dollar. Really? For a dollar you had to act that shameless knowing how terrible your service was? Whatever, we gave it to them and left vowing to never come back and to write a review. And guess what? They didn't even bid us good night or even a thank you as we left. For $20 a dish, please go elsewhere where they actually care about your patronage and please read the other reviews if you don't believe me, all have said the same. This place has been here for many, many years and I've walked by many times. It's conveniently located right next to the 74th Street Jackson Heights stop. However, it wasn't until recently that I tried it. This is a very no frills Korean BBQ and is not that spacious, but is very authentic. My experience here was very pleasant overall. We had the bulgogi, kalbi, and bbq chicken. All three meats were well seasoned and very juicy. They also had just enough flavor without being too salty, which I have encountered at other Korean BBQ places. The usual side dishes were plentiful and tasted fine too. The prices here I would say are a little more expensive than the average Queens Korean BBQ, with a 3 meat BBQ combo costing $89.99. However, the portions of meat were larger than normal too. Quite convenient spot, just outside the Jackson height station. It looks like a super old restaurant and there is a smell of old furniture inside the restaurant. But to be honest I was quite impressive about their side dishes. Super yummy. Even they may all look in red but actually the way of seasoning is totally different. Like the firm tofu in spicy sauce is not spicy at all. And I quite like the texture of the firm tofu. The potato is bouncy and cooked well and flavorful. Just the way I like. The LA beef rib is well marinated. Tasted slight sweet and the beef is soft and well cooked. I could not believe that I finished them all. Been coming to this place for almost a decade now. My go to korean bbq place. Staff always friendly, the meats are well seasoned, and their banchan is always a surprise! We used to come here once a month when we lived in astoria. Tonight was our first night in a out two years. Few things changed since then (like no sushi bar and new combos). For the entrees, I ordered the "soon tofu jigae" and their soup contains 1 big clam, shrimp, beef, and tofu. It was very good and they didn't provide an egg to put into the soup. I should have asked for an egg to make the soup more rich. My dad ordered the "Kkori Gomtang" and it's the stew oxtail soup with somen noodles. Each of our entrees came with a bowl of rice. My final thoughts: this place also has reasonable weekday lunch specials. That's worth a try. The service was good as well. There isn't good parking space around the restaurant. This place is not so neat because I saw flies flying around and on top of that I saw some roaches and ants walking around in my table . One flies was not an issue at all but when I saw an ant walking in my table I couldn't eat my food. I just hope they do some changes on this. The staffs out here are very friendly and attentive .
