ORIGINAL REVIEW: Bought a silencer. Waited 2 weeks, and they clearly weren't in any hurry to send it to my local dealer. (it should ship to my dealer today - 3 weeks after my order - a process that should only take 2-5 days) Finally I gave in and did the whole form 4 stuff through them, even though I would have preferred to do it myself. They apparently aren't opening mail because I mailed fingerprint cards to them a couple days after the purchase. Had to pay $40 to get my fingerprints done at a kiosk because I was still getting emails every other day that I needed to submit fingerprints. I signed the documents a week ago, and they still haven't mailed off the form 4. I don't know how it takes over a week to print some papers and stuff them in an envelope. If you're soooo busy that you can't drop an envelope in a mail box in a timely manner, then maybe you should allow your customers the option to print the form and handle it themselves. Or send it to the local dealers to complete. I would have submitted it within a day, but here I am 3 weeks later and Silencershop is still holding up the process. FOLLOWUP COMMENTS: Mike at Silencer Shop explained to me how their process works. My local dealer was wrong when he said I had the option to submit my fingerprints to Silencer Shop or complete the form 4 and fingerprints with him like we always have in the past. Maybe he misunderstood my question or I misunderstood his answer. Silencer Shop requires the form 4 to be 100% complete with fingerprints and tax paid before they will process a form 3. This ensures the customer is committed before the local dealer has been paid and the silencer has shipped. It makes sense for beginner silencer purchasers who might change their mind when they find out about the $200 tax. I am not a beginner; I've just never bought from Silencer Shop. I am used to dealers processing the form 3 immediately, and once the item ships, our transaction is complete. Then I do the form 4 with my local dealer and write the $200 check myself. That's all I wanted to do, so the unexplained delay on the form 3 bothered me. I prefer to be more hands-on with the application, so now I know Silencer Shop is not right for me. Silencer Shop is a distributor, not a dealer, which is why their process is different from every other silencer I've ever purchased. With their sales volume, they have to automate the process, and they've decided it's best to require the fingerprints and tax stamp before any forms are processed. After they explained everything I feel they deserve two more stars. They didn't do anything wrong; they just weren't what I expected. read more

I can't even imagine what this would have been like without the kiosk and the SilencerShop.com storefront. One of the experts at the FFL I use walked me through each step, with detailed and robust explanations through every part of the process. I then received email notifications clearly guiding me through the signature and tax stamp processes from SilencerShop, so all I had to do was follow the kiosk guided experience at the physical store with my FFL, sign a couple of online documents, buy a couple things via intuitive interfaces, and then I was called in to pick it up about 7-8 months later. The hardest part is really the waiting... NFA Tracker helps with the wait time expectations, but nothing can really prepare you for that lengthy, no idea about status other than "Pending". All in all, for the $5-50 you maybe save by using another vendor or store, you're going to spend A LOT more time running around chasing forms and fingerprints and pictures, etc. Just sign up for the SilencerShop account, find a storefront/FFL that has a kiosk, and let them guide you through the whole thing. I don't care what your "guy (or gal)" says at your local spot, there is absolutely no way that it can get any easier than doing it through SilencerShop - no amount of praise or glowingly positive review will do it justice vs. the manual process. Besides, these guys usually have VERY competitive pricing, if not some of the best, AND the inventory is tremendous. Buy your can through here AND run your process with one of their partners near you via the kiosk. The time you're going to spend looking for negative reviews and seeing what went wrong isn't worth you just signing up and buying something already. I own several suppressors that I purchased directly from the manufacturer. A friend reached out to me for advice on obtaining a .22 cal suppressor. I told him I'd heard good things about Silencer Shop, so he purchased through them. From placing his order to taking it home from his FFL took 11 days. He said the entire process was very simple and that he had a great experience. I have been waiting for the CAT ST to be in stock for almost a year. Three weeks ago, it became available. I made my purchase through Silencer Shop. I called and opted for a callback. Less than 10 minutes later, I received the call and asked if they gave a military discount; they do. The program is called Sound Off. David said that he would assist me with anything I needed help with, and he gave me his cell number. Not sure if this is because I am in Sound Off or not. I bought the CAT ST, and it took exactly two weeks from purchase to be ready for pickup. The website and David are epic. I had zero issues. The best part is, once in their system to make additional purchases, all that is needed is to sign the Form 4 because they already have my trust, fingerprints, and photo. I am now waiting on the CAT MOB HUB TI to be approved. As previously stated, the entire process was streamlined and only took a few minutes to complete. David walked me through submitting a Form 1 for $50 through the website; it couldn't have been easier. I'm sure I could have submitted the Form 1 on my own and saved $50. I purchased my silencer on December 24, 2021. On January 12 I got a email titled "Ready to Certify: Your Latest Update as we continue to submit ATF eForm 4s". In the email I was told to be on the lookout for an email titled "Ready to Certify", which would give me detailed instructions on how to proceed. Now I thought, surely this could not be the email this email is instructing me to look out for, that would be stupid...right!?!?! So I waited. January 20th,I decided to email support to clarify that I was not supposed to be doing anything yet, and I waited.... January 28th, I still haven't heard from Silencer Shop so I decided to call... When I reached the # I was told that the wait would be 20 minutes, and that I could have them call me when it was my turn, and I waited.... 1 hour 20 minutes go buy and then I get the call. The guy who was on the line seemed put out by having to talk to me. When he looked me up he tells me that my silencer has been waiting at the gun shop they hooked me me up with. So I call the shop owner to set up a time to complete the forms and send them off, he tells me he hasn't set up the software yet so it would have to wait till the next day. I work the next day so that would not work and Sunday the shop is closed, so Monday, hopefully I will finally get my forms out the door only to deal with the ATF...SMH. I do understand that with covid, along with e-filing being new, some slow down could be expected, but the terrible communication has my already long wait extended by a month without so much as a "sorry".If you do use them, stay on top of them. This was my first Suppressor/NFA Item purchase so I wasn't sure what to expect. I am so glad that I went through Silencer Shop for all of my needs with this process. The purchase was a snap and the website recommended that I purchase the trust on the same product page, which simplified my understanding of what was needed. I used the kiosk to finish up the order and with the new eForms it wasn't difficult to complete the process. Now I am just hoping that the 90 days they (ATF) claim will actually happen, but I have my doubts because they usually work at the speed of government. LOL. I have called SilencerShop three times now to ask a few questions and they have returned all of my calls within 20 minutes. I explained to the customer service agents that I spoke with that this was my first purchase of this type and they were all incredibly patient and very knowledgeable, answering all of my questions in detail. I have gotten a few emails from them letting me know where we are in the process , which is nice to see from a company this large. I plan on purchasing a few more items like this in the future and will definitely be ordering all of them from SilencerShop. I've ordered 11 suppressors from Silencer Shop and even when it was done by paper, they made the process completely painless. Now that it's eForms, it is even easier. I just bought a FNH PS90 and wanted to have the ability to change it to a short barrel, but of course then it would be classified as a SBR, so I have to get my tax stamp before I'll even purchase the parts to do it. I like that they keep all my electronic items like my picture and fingerprints which makes the form submission seamless. I like that they carry so many different brands to choose from, which is something that their main competitor does not, and one of the reasons I stay with Silencer Shop. I don't care that you can deliver my suppressor to my house if you don't carry the brands I want to purchase. Now all I have to do is wait almost 12 months now for the ability to then order the parts and change over to the shorter barrel! As of today (Feb. 2023) I'm having to wait 9 months for the suppressor tax stamps to come through. I've had 3 of them waiting at my FFL for just about 6 months already--ugh. I am not one to shop anything expensive or as sensitive as a rifle silencer online but once I googled the silencer shop, I felt this was going to be ok. well, I ended up getting by far the best possible customer service I've had this whole year combining any and all places that I have shopped. Jay was extremely courteous and patient explaining all the details of the product and the process to get the silencer ordered so I felt so comfortable that I immediately proceeded with the purchase. I called the following day to ask about a different silencer "primal" that I heard about at the gun shop and Mike (manager) picked up the phone. At this point, my only intention was to get information but Mike made me feel so comfortable in understanding that this other can was the perfect addition and with its versatility, I could use it on various rifles that I also ordered it. Silencer Shop is by far the best and easiest place to order, and most importantly, successfully get approved for ATF Form-4 (NFA items) and other firearms needs. I have purchased 7 cans from Silencer shop, and they do a fantastic job of getting all of my paperwork processed correctly and efficiently. I wholeheartedly recommend Silencer Shop to anyone looking to purchase a suppressor (or other firearm items). These folks know what they are doing and they do it very well. Depending on the SOT you choose, the prices for the suppressors can fluctuate up and down (I also have experience with this), but the cost differences are all within $40. My guess is each firearms shop has some sort of standard markup baked into these suppressor costs for their own keeping (basic capitalism), so the price difference moves up or down based on that. If you live in an area with multiple SOT's, maybe try switching the the shop names as your default and see what you get regarding prices. It won't be something crazy different, but a few bucks saved never hurts. read more

I've been looking for Surefire SOCOM suppressors for quite a while in Tennessee. Out of frustration, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered them from Silencer Shop. Superb process... quick, much easier than expected and very efficient. Suppressors were transferred to my local SOT in about 10 days. My local SOT, H&M Armory, in Dunlap, TN, was superb and completed the Form 4 certifications and submissions while I waited, maybe 10 minutes at the most. Now the NFA jail wait. It helps the process if you've been through the NFA wringer before and kinda know what to expect. It is imperative to have an ATF eForm account set up prior to buying the suppressor. To gain experience with the eForm process, why not submit a Form 1 to make an SBR AR-style rifle on your existing receiver! Reading some of the other comments regarding the Form 3 transfer, in fairness, Silencer Shop advises you at the time of purchase that any follow ups and contacts will be through your local SOT. If your going to buy a hush pipe, this is like the ACE Hardware store for them. SilencerShop is the helpful place. Using their kiosk takes all the reasons why you may have not gotten a suppressor. (Finger prints, going to the sheriff's office ect...) you literally go to the nearest kiosk (usually a local FFL cool enough to have a SilencerShop kiosk) and follow the steps setup from a QC scan they give you. After you buy one lead pipe trap the 2nd and 3rd become easier. They are your stamp collection dealer. I'm on my 3rd hitman accessory and my only complaint is the kings blessing takes too long. Rest assured if SilencerShop could fix that they would. Your in good hands with Silencershop. In fact with free shipping, low prices and no transfer fees, it's like saving 15% for switching to silencershop.They know alot about suppressors because they've seen alot of suppressors. read more

Although I don't have any experience in terms of buying suppressors from this business, they did make my first online FFL transfer incredibly easy and hassle free. I purchased a firearm from gunbroker, which was my first time buying a gun online, and had it shipped here without asking if it was ok in advance. The guys there were nice and the atmosphere was very laid back. There are a lot of cool guns to look at while you wait, and if you need any info on NFA purchases they seem to know it all. My gun arrived at their shop in the morning, and I was able to pick it up when I came in at 4:00 PM. Also, I shouldn't have to say this but I love that all the staff don't care if you're wearing a mask. This is how all freedom loving gun shops should be, especially now that the great state of Texas doesn't force you to put a piece of cloth over your face. read more

This Process, compared to the old process of going out and getting fingerprint cards, going to get passport photos, filling out the paperwork etc., is transformational. The ease of use of using a kiosk is a complete game changer. Especially if you plan on buying more than one suppressor. your fingerprinting and photos are saved in the secured database and used for any future purchases. This means you only have to do it one time, and then every subsequent purchase after your initial one is that much easier. The fingerprinting on the kiosk is tricky, but if you are patient and take your time, its not a big deal. put the side of your finger on first, roll it over to the other side. done. next finger. If this is your first time dealing with NFA items, its probably a good idea to get help from an employee of whatever store your kiosk is in. read more
