DO NOT BLINDLY TRUST THE REVIEWS! The Short: Use to love Silencer Shop Was given the run around. Told to bad not much else we can do through months of frustration and nothing getting done. Before you give Silencer Shop your money read on different forums and sites about whats going on with this store DO NOT BLINDLY TRUST REVIEWS. If i knew that I would have waited theres plenty of evidence that this eform has been causing lots of issues. If that doesn't convince you call their number and hit that option for existing order customers. Let your phone sit there and you can see later how long it took before the representative answered and hung up. It'll usually be around 2 hours of their system saying 20+ minutes. If you have questions about it, or a problem expect that wait. Same with the chat feature. *** MAY UPDATE*** My dealer called saying the suppressor is back on his system. I watch the computer as the process is going. A big page saying POWERED BY SILENCER SHOP comes up and says waiting for an agent. The process goes fine until it says FAILED TO COMPLETE TAX STAMP. We try a couple more times and fail again. Dealer says you gotta call silencer shop. So I waited 2 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES ONLY TO BE HUNG UP ON. I sent an email demanding a supervisor reached out to me. I'm updating this review so y'all know how a troubled purchase is going. I honestly hope no one ever has to deal with this. ******HEY SILENCER SHOP IM WAITING ON YALL TO CONTACT ME!!!!**** The Long: The experience with Silencer Shop has become an increasingly frustrating one. I purchased my suppressor with this company end of November last year. That's when the company informed me that they were switching all purchases to eFile automatically and boasted that it will take about 90 days to get the approval from the ATF. The new year rolls around and going into April and have heard NOTHING. I had called around February and Silencer Shop was quick to blame the chosen dealer saying it's their fault and that I should reach out to them. When I spoke to the dealer they informed me that other dealers have been having these problems with Silencer Shop as well. Stuck in limbo I decided to wait it out giving Silencer Shop time to get things figured out. April is here and finally on the 14th I'm told to go e certify. IT'S BEEN 5 MONTHS. Had I just done the paper version we would almost be there! Something goes wrong with the system and my suppressor is deleted during the process. Dealer says call Silencer Shop. Calling Silencer shop is an aggravating experience. You have to wait 2 hours on hold or wait for call back which puts you in a different que and can take even longer. The representative says some specialist will get in contact with me in 24 hours to fix it. Then I hear nothing. A week later I reach out to Silencer Shop again through their chat and am told over and over that a specialist team will handle it. Frustrated I call and wait another 2 hours and am given the same response. At this point I just want my money back to be done with this. TOO BAD it's gonna cost you. The other options are file through paper or transfer it to another dealer and restart the process OR wait it out and see if things get fixed. That's what they told me! Where did my money go? I cannot believe what is happening. This USED TO BE THE GOLDEN STANDARD. I'm beyond frustrated and disappointed and I spoke extremely highly of this store as It's local and they had excellent customer service. I honestly hope your experience is better than mine. I'm just here to worn those who take the time to read this. Do your research and see if this company is getting it's self together. At the least call to see the wait times. read more

I purchased my first silencer through Silencer Shop. The purchase process was easy but I wish they were more communicative. When the eForm 3 was submitted, I was not informed. I had to email and ask. They told me I could call the ATF for an update, so I did. It was already accepted. Was never informed the eForm 3 was accepted. Emailed and asked about shipping to my FFL, and was told their shipping department was in the process of moving and backed up. NBD. I emailed the next week to check status. It was delivered the day before. Why was I not informed about the shipment or delivery? Good news, it's with my FFL now and just waiting on the ATF. read more

I think that if Silencer Shop handles all the paperwork from start to finish as in preparing a trust through the end of the transfers they probably do an acceptable job. I already had a trust when I went to them for two transfers. They screwed up the name of my trust in the efile system and cost me an extra year. Reading is not one of their strengths. They accepted no responsibility for a mistake that was undeniably theirs, and never even offered an apology. They exemplify the worst characteristics of companies that only care about customers' wallets and not the respect and honor that can be built by ethical behavior. If you can afford to waste a lot of months and don't mind dealing with people who will never admit mistakes then Silencer Shop may be for you. Not me. read more

I have used them on many prior silencer and sbr submittals, without major issues. I work for an SOT and have sold hundreds of suppressors using their system, most without any problems. I do not want to use e-forms, I want paper forms with REAL stamps on them. I started the process mid April. We docusigned on our end on May 20th for 2 suppressors, was told because I wanted paper stamps they were delayed. My dealer didnt get the docusign for a couple weeks. I contacted the NFA branch to see if they had received them in the Middle of June, they had not. I contacted Silencershop in June and was told they were still backed from the "free stamp" event but would get on it. Imagine my surprise when I called the NFA branch today, and they still havent received my paperwork or money. The customer service agent at Silencershop today tells me that they are waiting for my dealer to sign the form. Then comes back and tells me they seem to be having a problem with the docusign email not going to the dealers, but they can efile them for me. I dont want fake stamps. Was told it will take a while but I will have to redocusign. Sorry for the inconvenience, but basically start over. I asked for a manager to call me, but when asked who and when they would call, was told there wasnt an ETA. However I was given the number to call the compliance manager directly. I called. Voicemail. Doesn't there system notify when something is stuck in limbo? They showed in progress on the site. It is only a 2 month delay because I called to check on a stamp that is due any day now. I wouldn't have called on these for at least 6 months. When things go smoothly, they are great and take your money. However when there is a problem, good luck getting a hold of anyone that will give you a good answer or call you back. They still take your money, but they are short on solutions. Still waiting for the manager to call, maybe another 2 to 3 months....... update: they finally sent my packet and check into the ATF. I was notified by email. Not one attempt was made to return my calls. Still waiting. Been 3 weeks. read more

Ordered a Ruger silencer when I saw that it was in stock. Requested a transfer to the local gun dealer. Sure they tell me, we will take care of it. Two weeks later, the silencer is "Out of Stock". Hey wait, you have my money for the silencer and the Tax Stamp. Oh, sorry, we are out of stock. WTF! Now I have to wait longer until you get restocked????!!! I have used silencer shop through my FFL dealer. No problems. I have purchased accessories from them for my existing cans. No problems. Recently, I used them to convert my legally owned, braced firearms into SBRs. I paid their fee for providing the electronic interface. No problem. But here I sit waiting and waiting and waiting for the eForm pages to load. The problem is with the electronic systems used by the AFT staff for approvals. Why in the world does it take so long to get an approval for a Class III item? Oh well I am still waiting... Thank you Silencer Shop for your assistance. Horrible company to deal with. After the sale, they simply will not/can not provide service. Not over the phone, not via email, not even via chat. Once you've purchased a silencer there, or a Gun Trust, you are on your own. Your hardware will ship out to an FFL, and then it's up to you to deal with the ATF. Silencer Shop, it you can even get hold of them, will simply say it's out of their hands. No solutions offered, nor advice given. It took them a month to send paperwork to the ATF, and then it took the ATF an additional 9 months to approve an eform tax stamp that was supposed to take 45 days. I got a call from my FFL that my tax stamp was finally complete, and I could go pick up my silencer. No word from ATF to me directly, and checking on Silencer Shop website shows no update on the progress of my tax stamp. The silencer is in my possession now, but Silencer Shop doesn't reflect that. As for the gun trust, it's complicated, seems incomplete, and calls to Silencer Shop go unanswered. Leaving a message (as directed) to get a callback is useless. They NEVER call back. For the second day in a row, I've attempted to start a chat, where "agents are waiting to help." I'm 40 in line, and not moving for the past half hour. Will not use this company again. read more

This is my second experience with Silencer Shop. Original contact was when I purchased by Daniel Defense short barrel AR15. The rifle was put into a trust all of which was done on the SilencerShop kiosk. It was very easy for all members of the trust to photo, fingerprint and file the completed paperwork. This next go round, was the addition of a silencer for the same rifle. I was in direct contact with Silencer Shop on two occasions, both of which the agent walk me through finalizing my paperwork and completing the order. With everything no finalized its the waiting game on final approval . I placed the order in 11/21 for the tax stamp and suppressor. It took 5 months to navigate the Silencer Shop process, and my confusion contributed some to that delay. It has been in the hands of ATC for the last 8 months awaiting form approval. Setting expectations correctly can be a tricky proposition, with current projection for the ATF running anywhere between 90 days and 1 year. Of course SS only wants to point at ATF and not their 5 months of delay to begin. I think Silencer Shop was completely overrun and could not keep up. Telephone wait times were measured in hours and chat sessions were ignored all together. Maybe they are doing better now, but here it is 13 months later and I have nothing but credit card receipts. read more

If everything goes smoothly they are great to work with. They have made purchasing NFA items much easier than it used to be. However their customer service needs significant work. I had a circumstance that was out of the ordinary and it took a lot more work than it should have to finally get help and get the help I needed from their customer service. Phone calls take forever to get ahold of anyone and emails took weeks to get a reply. Their live chat function on their website worked best, but even then the person I talked to seemed less than friendly. read more

First the good stuff: The digitization and automation of the otherwise overwhelming paperwork is fantastic. The kiosk experience for the initial fingerprint recording was smooth as well. The processing of the initial paperwork on their side is faster than expected. They deliver as advertised, and they are pretty clear on the process. Now the not so great stuff: Online inventory is inconsistent. Unclear if out-of-stock items are permanently no longer to be expected or if there's any on back order for future availability. Didn't get to interact much with the customer service, except a few times on the chat, and OMG the dude that handles the chat from their end is horrendous. Rude, brief, patronizing, impatient and not very helpful. Almost feels like he is on a mission to turn customers away rather than keeping them happy or informed. Yikes. The certification process, while automated for the most part, is very clunky. Maybe not totally their fault as that's probably dependent on the interface to the gov database or so, but still - clunky. The app - not sure what's the point. Just to take a selfie..? The Silencer Shop submitted an incomplete ATF Form 4 on my behalf that was disapproved due to one unchecked box. Now I have to resubmit on paper and wait 9-12 months. Shame on them. read more
