I spoke with Ivy who was really communicative and amazing with helping book the appointment for a 90 minute massage. I did mention it was really important that the masseuse working with my mom focused on her feet. My mom even circled it on the sheet we were handed before the massage so the masseuses could help address our concerns (translation was written underneath). I also mentioned the importance of her feet to the masseuse when she started the massage and she replied"okay" and nodded. I communicated it to my masseuse as well so he could make sure to pass along the message, but less than 5 minutes was spent working on her feet. While I enjoyed my massage and would come back, I wish the masseuses took the time to look at the sheet. I also wish the employees lowered their voice while in the hallway as everything can be heard from inside the room. read more

The place looks like it's been recently opened. Very clean. I've ordered deep tissue massage with specific areas to focus on. Oddly enough the room didn't have a hanger,so I was offered to put my clothes into a box on the floor. The masseuse was trying to do her job,but some how followed her our scenario despite my request. The massage in general was super plain and quite shallow. It was just a quick second she touched quadriceps,which required the most attention. I felt like $5 tips would be just enough, however masseuse got offended and demanded $5 more. I wondering why volunteerely tips became a mandatory? Bottom line.... Never again. Good place for a no frills massage. Come in, take you to the room, get your massage and leave. I like these kinda places when I'm just looking for a good full body massage without having to pay $100+ This time I was looking for something to target specific areas that have been troubling me. The website was a little misleading as they say they take 10 mins for a consult to find out what your needs are. I was looking forward to this so that I could pinpoint what areas I really needed. Instead I just circled on a card what my trouble areas are, but they weren't focused on. So kind of useless. However, I've been here a couple of times trying the different massages that they offer. Unfortunately, I've come to the decision that it isn't worth spending my money to go here if I still have knots from my massage especially with a deep tissue massage which should remove at least one knot but it didn't. I agree with another Yelper's review. It is very cold inside, no heat whatsoever. The massage bed is also not heated. It was a nice massage however I was uncomfortable the entire time and had goosebumps. Not sure why heat was not turned on at all. read more

I had a massage from Selina. It was a 90 minute massage, and for the entire 90 minutes she worked hard on my shoulders, back and neck. Those were the three places that I wrote down and said needed the most attention, and she found my knots and worked the hell out of them. At no point during my massage did I think she was just "going through the motions". She put effort into the massage and it was felt. The next day I felt sore (in a good way) around my knots and shoulders. This is exactly what I wanted. When I first walked in, Selina came to the front, had me fill out a little laminated page with a marker and then took me straight to the room. I changed and then she came back into the room and went straight to work. Yes, she spoke in broken English, but communication was not a problem at all. I will be going back again for sure. read more

Received a couple's massage for wifey and myself from kid #1. Wow, what a great gift. What great timing, I didn't realize how much I needed it. I had been refereeing a lot of soccer games and have been using the hot tub, but obviously a deep tissue massage is much more effective. Although they asked what areas needed additional work, I got a whole body massage. I didn't realize my legs and back needed so much work. I'm trying to figure out how I can work this into my budget. I got this for Christmas, so I can see myself giving my wife a couple's massage for Valentine's Day, Birthday, Mother's Day, Anniversary... you get the point. Worst experience ever. Had booked an appointment for my husband who was having some back pain for a deep tissue massage. Had asked for a male massage therapist. He said the deep tissue massage was fine on the upper back but when he moved lower specially towards the leg the pressure was too much and my husband had asked him to reduce the pressure but the man spoke very little English. He somehow managed to good on till it was over. But at the very end the therapist came and caught hold of his patella and moved it side to side using a very strong grip. My husband was caught totally unaware. He has been suffering from a terrible knee pain since then. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Ever!!! read more

Great value for the price, and good coverage of a lot of areas massaged (they were able to do a lot in an hour compared to other massage places). Ivy is super friendly and sweet! Love the decor in the reception/waiting room, but ambiance could be better in the massage room. My masseuse went a bit hard and fast in the beginning, which made it difficult to relax. But I did choose the firmest pressure deep tissue massage. They let you choose the firmness you like before you go into the massage room and the areas you would like them to focus on, as well as the problems you are experiencing and what you're looking for. Next time I'll ask for lighter pressure but the masseuse was able to adjust the pressure when I asked him during the massage. I had some pretty big knots that took a lot of work to get out but two days later (after the soreness wore off) I feel great, no more knots! Thank you Silk Road! This Massage Spa misses on a few points: 1) the western music has got to go. We want to feel transported to another world when we visit, not to a shopping mall soundtrack. I could not relax to a smooth jazz piano version of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You". Instead, play some light Traditional Classical Chinese music. And keep the volume low enough so that I can hear my breath. 2) I never understood why massage businesses would ever set up there location sharing walls with another noisier business (ie restaurant). There will be no peace in those rooms where we've come to relax. 3) The masseuse(s) has to be more than technique when working on a client. There has to be SOUL in those hands. Heart and hands can work miracles. 4) I would like to know ahead of time if the room I'll be in is going to be shared by a different client(s). I would like the option of saying "no". read more

I really wanted to like this place, it's what Danville needs in a open-late inexpensive utility massage. The rooms have open air ceilings exposed to adjacent rooms and the hallway so it's not quiet. By design, fine I can understand why but it's kinda weird. Really not quiet since it shares a wall with Los Panchos so the crowd noise is high, birthday songs don't make for a serene scene. My appointment started late. I heard other complaining loudly of similar problems (see ceilings). The way I heard conversations and doors opening/closing they definitely seemed in a rush. Too much so, I'm pretty sure my masseuse didn't wash her hands between appointments. The massage itself was bad. I asked for deep tissue but it was anything but. There was no focusing on what I asked, or working through knots, it was frantic pushing and pounding. Was able to call and make an appointment the evening before for the next day afternoon. I had Sophie and she was great. When you arrive, they give you a short form to fill out asking what areas you would like the massage to concentrate on and for what reason (tension, pain, relaxation, etc) and what pressure you prefer (light, firm, firm to deep, or deep). The first therapist I had had NO idea how to give a massage. She basically just smoothed oil on my skin. No kneading or getting into the muscle tissue at all. They gave me a guy instead who spent about 15 minutes rubbing the back of my neck with his thumbs, not much pressure and acted all weird about bringing the sheet down to work on my back. Neither therapist had any technique. Of course, neither spoke a word of English and sign language and doing strokes myself on their arm didn't get thru to either one. Nope!
