But I needed a cab service to pick up a meal for my elderly aunt quickly and during the corona quarantine, as it was for her birthday (in Branford, CT). I called Heritage and spoke to the owner Jerry who is not interested in being super charming. He is simply a polite, soft spoken businessman and that was not a big hurdle. I did have to 'email' him permission to use my credit card (he did that to cover his tracks) and i sent him the cc information via email. He then briskly went to the restaurant for food puck up and delivery, as instructed. Jerry picked up the food and dropped it off for my aunt at her residence. He was very polite to her. And his cost was reasonable. He didn't charge me for 'waiting' for the food either. Instead, he asked me when the food would be ready and he headed right over at that time, so as not to overcharge me. He was very nice. Yes, he is older and a little old-fashioned, and he doesn't use PayPal or Venmo. Other than that. He was efficient and reasonable and polite.

They helped me after missed connections and got me home after I literally took a boat, a plane, a bus and a train. The drivers were always professional and courteous, if I was silent they left me be, if I wanted to talk they obliged me The one and only time I had a problem was when they didn't show because I was in the shower and missed the courtesy call, my fault for not paying attention. When my car was a no start they were here in minutes to get me to work and later tonight they will bring me home after I leave it for service. If not for them I'd be looking at a long, very cold walk.

This was my return trip from the airport to my home, two days later on Saturday evening. Landing at 9:30/PM, retrieving baggage and contacting Uber at 10:00/PM. The least expensive Uber was $136.00 and the prices went up according to vehicle. That is "quadruple" what I paid two days earlier. This fee is/was, nothing but a scam and a ripoff. Totally taking advantage of weary travelers who want to get home. I would not pay the fee. I did not book an Uber. I took a taxi for $77.00 which is also expensive - but I had little choice, I paid. I will find other alternatives in the future, like hiring a neighbor.
