It's been a while since I've been here. Me and my buddy came here and wanted to try a lot of food. We started off surf n turf burrito which was spectacular. They ask you if you want Mexican guac ( pure avocado ) or American guac ( avocado & sour cream mixed ). The shrimp is marinated and the asada is fresh and tasty ! Then we shared the hot Cheeto carne asada fries. After that we each shared a half of carne asada torta ! Very delicious. Last item was a carne asada quesadilla supreme which was loaded ! The food is always great, and I come here about twice a week. I always order the same thing, and it's consistently good. Today I called ahead because I was extremely hungry and was about 5-10 minutes away, hoping my order would be ready when I got off the exit. The person who answered the phone told me I had to pay over the phone before they could place the order. I completely understand why they have that policy since some people place phone orders and never show up. I wouldn't have minded paying over the phone, but I was driving and didn't feel comfortable giving my card information while on the road. When I explained that I'm a regular customer, they were very understanding and even gave me a discount when I came in. I really appreciated that gesture and the way they took care of a regular customer. Great food and great customer service -- I'll definitely be back! read more

My favorite spot in El Cajon. Been living in El Cajon for years now and every time I'm craving a Cali burrito I come here. Order is always, Cali Burrito, double protein, no cheese, double sour cream and Mexican Guac. I'll tell you what, this thing after you order it isn't for the faint of heart. It's massive, it's filling and most importantly it's mighty good! I'm sure it's all about preference of places you'll go to, but I always come back here. Don't forget the red & green salsa. It's affordable and the meat/cut always tastes great. & There's never any fat in the meats, so, I highly recommend the store! I was going to give this store a 4/5 because sometimes the workers have attitudes like dahyummm. Especially at night too like son im crine too for you but i just want my food :sob: But today there were workers who I've never seen before and they were extraordinarily friendly and nice. & I think additional toppings are free, so that's cool! I got cilantro toppings on my carne asada fries and it was free so that's a win. + They gave me 2 forks for my carne asada fries which is really nice of them for thinking im gonna share BUT it's all going down in my belly LOL Portion sizes are big. it sucks that some people didn't like what they ordered ! Other than that it was me & my family first time trying this taco shop, we were getting our tires done across the street & decided to eat & wait some time there. I loved the sitting area outside on the side :) the lady at the window was friendly & she asked if I wanted America guacamole or Mexican I didn't really know the difference but let me say I'm always going get "Mexican guacamole" lol me & my son ordered carna asada fries & he loved it mind you he's picky so that was a plus , my husband got a torta I believe & he liked it as well . Update: been back to Silvas about 3/4 times since my last review the 1st time back I ordered well done fries. Excellent choice Silvas was back being my top favorite. 2nd /3rd times I forgot to ask for well done fries and fries werent too bad but def could have been crispier. 4th time I tried breakfast burrito with asada and bf got breakfast w/ bacon they were . Of all the years I've been going to Silvas I've never tried their break fast burritos and I can't believe it. They were so bomb will definitely be back for more and will try and remember if I get California burrito or fires to get them well done. Service was also super nice. read more

I've been here before for breakfast burritos and they were good but I decided to try something else and was not impressed. We got a pollo asado torta and carne asada fries. The torta was put together super sloppy and the meat tasted off. Seemed like the bread wasn't toasted and everything was just falling out after a couple of bites. I'm really concerned as to why their Mexican guacamole is like a neon green and same with the green salsa. Is that the cilantro? I've never seen anything like it. Next up the fries. They were just alright. I asked for beans in them and they weren't put on. The meat wasn't seasoned well and overall just ok. Wasn't great wasn't terrible but just ok. read more

Old school Taco shop located here in El cajon. I've been coming here for about 10 years and love their burritos! They also add in a side of spicy carrots and fried chilies as well for the burrito which I really like. I usually get the same thing every time I come which is a pollo asada California burrito. I haven't really tried other things on the menu since coming here but I decided to try the chicken California fries and they were pretty good. I also really like their red sauce. Service is usually quick unless there's a huge line then it can take about 10-15 minutes longest. There is seating inside or outside. read more

Although the indoor dining area is small, it is well decorated with interesting pictures and posters if you want to eat in. we always pick up and take home. Silva's is an old school San Diego taco shop. Their food reminds me of the carne asada burritos and rolled tacos of my childhood in El Cajon. They make their food the way we remember from he 70s and 80s. In other words, if you are a native, they are old school legit. The employees are so kind and so chill. I'm really happy I tried Silva's today for the first time. The place is clean and colorful with plenty of parking. I ordered the bacon california burrito and ate it there. This burrito was delicious and filling! Just the right amount of meat, fries, bacon and sour cream. I got the red salsa and it had a super tasty slow burn to it. They added a really flavorful green chili and carrot slice next to the burrito which was a delightful surprise when unwrapping, great presentation. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and you can tell that care and soul goes into the food. For all these reasons, I'm now a fan of Silva's and look forward to my next visit! read more

I was in need of a delicious burrito to help with a hangover and Silvia's California Burrito hit the spot! I can be picky with California burritos, but theirs is yummy. The carne asada is juicy and flavorful and the ingredients are well disbursed through the burrito. Plus they don't try to put any weird ingredients that don't belong in a Cali like some other taco shops. The red salsa was very good as well, I didn't try the green as I prefer red. I've been coming here for 20 years, my parents used to take me here when I was a little kid and I've been coming back ever since as a grown up. I always order their breakfast burrito. It is rarely matched by anybody else. And they have one of the best red hot sauces in town. I have not ventured off and ordered much of the other items on their menu but I'm sure they would be good as well. I've literally been ordering the same breakfast burrito for 20 years. The only issue I have is that they changed their packaging of the burritos from Styrofoam plates with aluminum foil to just paper and aluminum foil which makes the burrito kind of soggy quick. I went to Silvas last night for the first time after years of passing by. The first thing I noticed was the strong smell of raid. That should've been my leaving point but I had heard good things and wanted to give it a try still. My boyfriend got the "big" taco for $7. It was the size of a regular taco and was mostly lettuce. The carne asada was flavorless and had almost none in it. I for three rolled tacos with guacamole. They were mostly soggy and again, the meat and guacamole had no flavor. The red and green salsa were also disgusting. Some of the worst we have ever had. We ordered from the outside window and couldn't even hear the lady inside from the traffic noise. That's not their fault but when several customers have ordered and you have to repeat yourself every time maybe make an attempt to speak a little bit louder instead of getting visibly annoyed that you have to repeat yourself. Ultimately I would give this place zero stars if I could and I won't ever be back. It was extremely expensive and the most subpar Mexican food I have had in a long time. read more

No stars should be given Silvia's in El Cajon is HORRIBLE, the hard tacos were soaked with greasy beef and the bottom of my taco was so mushy. The rice had no flavor and the beans were hard. And they had the audacity to charge ridiculous amounts for horrendous food. Never again read more

This little Taco Shop has been at the corner of Broadway and Anza in El Cajon for nearly 40 years. The son of the original owner now runs the business and in the same honest way. Good food for a good price and always a smile on his face. My parent's home was several blocks away so every trip home or family reunion we would stop in for the Carne Asada Tacos and Burritos. As we say in Hawaii "no ka oi", none better. My husband was always a fan of the Machaca Burritos. So this trip the tradition continues. I stopped in for lunch, two Carne Asada Tacos please. I forgot how big those babies are....not the minuscule street tacos, these are huge but I managed to eat them both while the owner made and wrapped six burritos (Carne Asada of course) for me to take out. Those six burritos are currently residing in my brother's freezer for me to take home to Hawaii. Always fun to get them through security at the airport but my family is already salivating at the thought of their arrival. Great to see they're still here and the food is still awesome. read more
