This little Taco Shop has been at the corner of Broadway and Anza in El Cajon for nearly 40 years. The son of the original owner now runs the business and in the same honest way. Good food for a good price and always a smile on his face. My parent's home was several blocks away so every trip home or family reunion we would stop in for the Carne Asada Tacos and Burritos. As we say in Hawaii "no ka oi", none better. My husband was always a fan of the Machaca Burritos. So this trip the tradition continues. I stopped in for lunch, two Carne Asada Tacos please. I forgot how big those babies are....not the minuscule street tacos, these are huge but I managed to eat them both while the owner made and wrapped six burritos (Carne Asada of course) for me to take out. Those six burritos are currently residing in my brother's freezer for me to take home to Hawaii. Always fun to get them through security at the airport but my family is already salivating at the thought of their arrival. Great to see they're still here and the food is still awesome. read more

The breakfast burrito here is amazing. I was heading home after spending a weekend with some friends and family in el cajon, but before the drive home I was in need of a good, filling breakfast burrito. The fact that this place had beans in the breakfast burrito already gave me all the green flags I needed. I couldn't wait for my order and to my advantage they were very fast. The first bite with the red and green hot sauce made me almost cry because this was exactly what I wanted. The beans, cheese, egg, and crispy potatoes were cooked to perfection and the green sauce gave that extra wet flavor while the red sauce made it the right amount of spicy. Unfortunately I do not have any photos of the burrito or the restaurant, but I can assure you this place is absolutely a must if you're in the area. They have a nice clean area to sit inside, but it is also seems to be a great to-go option since you order outside through the window. read more

After reading the reviews I decided to give this spot a try. I called in my order ahead of time and got the big fish taco and the TJ adobada tacos. When I got there the order was super fresh and they gave me a good amount of green salsa. When I got home the order was almost too hot to eat. I had the fish taco first and it was a good size portion of fish. Then I had the adobada, the adobada was flavorful and juicy. The green salsa was pretty spicy. Once I get past people looking at me crazy my order has totaled over $20 and tasted subpar from everywhere.... Tried this place today!! I will be back here every day. Fajitas don't even need salsa the flavor is amazing. They added lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole, so I still got to eat a variety of flavors, and both the red and green salsa taste amazing! Burritos are just the size they should be. We eat them at noon and that gets us through a 7pm Varsity football game. Look, no shade to this place, but... they add food dye to their guac and salsa. The first time I ordered from them, I noticed their green salsa was neon. The second time, my friend ordered and all I wanted was a side of guac. What I got was a cup of what I'm assuming is sour cream? And you can see the fluorescent green food dye that was added to make it green. I really don't know who they're trying to fool with this, but I won't be eating here ever again. read more

A true SD landmark. The best meal here is definitely the carne asada fries. What makes the carne asada fries here stand out from other carne asada fries is the type of fries they use here. They use a more thin and soft fry and it makes a huge difference in taste and quality. My favorite part of this restaurant is the sauce being served in bottles!!!! It reduces the use of plastic containers for sauce and I swear the sauce just tastes better lol. The carne asada plate is really good! I recommend ordering it with tortillas, it's the cherry on top. I had recently given this place a five-star because the employees that I had come into contact with and the food were amazing. They work really hard and fast to get everything out to you hot and in a timely manner. The reason why I'm dropping down to two stars is because The last few times I had gone there there was this one guy working behind the cashier that would talk about girls EVERY SINGLE time I saw him. He would talk about a girl that was just in line before me, a girl he was with last night, or some other weird misogynistic stuff that I wasn't trying to hear from some random dude, I just wanted a burrito.
