Yesterday, on Sunday, August 23, 2025, in the later afternoon I took an Uber driver with my good friend Emily to the Villas Mexican Food Restaurant. Yesterday's weather forecast was very hot about 83 degrees outside. I was getting very thirsty and I wanted to order the regular size Horchata (Mexican) Beverage. This Mexican Beverage included 3 different flavors like Horchata drink us made with the flower Hisbiscus and sweet tea. These two other flavors are made with Cinnamon, White Rice, and White Sugar. The final flavor is Strawberry. All of these flavors are very delicious with natural ingredients and very refreshing on these Hot humid summers. My regular size Horchata Beverage price was $3.65. The next time I am shopping at this Grossmont Center Mall I will definitely order their Mexican Food. There were a husband and wife who are of Hispanic descent that served me my Horchata Beverage. Came here today with a friend planning to order nachos ($12.49). I had $11 on one card and $5 on another, which is pretty normal. The owner immediately said he "can't split payments" and walked away without explaining or trying to help. This wasn't my first off experience here either--last time I ordered, the attitude was already there, but I brushed it off. Today just confirmed it. The register is clearly modern, so the refusal felt more like unwillingness than inability. What bothered me most was the lack of basic respect. He seemed uninterested, rushed me off, and said he had other orders to deal with without addressing me properly. Meanwhile, I watched him treat other customers just fine. I didn't even end up eating here because of how uncomfortable the interaction was. Owning a business doesn't excuse dismissive behavior. My boyfriend likes regular ground beef tacos and surprisingly not many places offer that except for like, Taco Bell. Meanwhile, I love flautas and very few places offer that. Tip: there's a buy one get one on a lot of items through Uber eats. Tacos are ok. They are on the tinier side. Guac comes with the carne asada tacos. I will also add that the red salsa is like water with no flavor. I would get the green salsa, it's better. read more

I've been here over the years and it's consistent service, I get exactly what I ordered and the guy behind the counter is always very pleasant. When I get lunch with my kid at the food court , he always gets food from the same place, I tend to rotate between this place and the Greek one whenever the Filipino restaurant is closed. I'll be honest and admit that I have never tried anything with beef here, so I can't comment on that, but the chicken and vegetarian options are solid. Comes with rice, which was flavorful and delicious. 3. I stopped by Villa's while I was in the Grossmont Mall picking up a few things. It was Tuesday, and I was hoping they had a Taco Tuesday deal, but they didn't so I ordered the old staple, the carne asada burrito. The burrito was average in size and came with a good amount of carne asda. The meat was season well and tender for the most part, but it did have that texture as if it was precooked, put in a container, then quickly reheated on the skillet. The chewiness gave that away. The guacamole was good, a little liquidity, but it tasted good and so did the salsa fresca. The tortilla was good, but perhaps not as buttery as I have had at other places. All their hot sauces were good, and I appreciated that they offered fresh cut radishes and lemon and lime wedges, especially for a food court eatery. Oh yes, the deep red hot sauce was the hottest. Great food great service. For a food court Mexican eatery you can't expect anything more. It's a Mexican food place owned and ran by Mexicans. The owners are the cooks so you know they take pride in their food. It's not like Panda Express where there's no Chinese people working there. My wife had the Carne de Res soup which was delicious. I had the supreme carne asada burrito which includes beans, crema and guacamole at no extra cost. Most places only give you meat, guacamole, Pico de Gallo and cheese, which is really a tortilla wrapped around meat and condiments, a burrito without beans is hardly a burrito. Stay away!!! So, I came to this place yesterday because my husband and I was craving churros, since I'm already at the mall. I ordered 4 pieces ( 2 reg, 1 strawberry and 1 vanilla). I saw a rag on the counter, right next to the freezer. The middle aged man open the freezer and took 4 Churros BARE HANDS right were the rag was located( the cashier took the rag right before the middle aged man put the Churros). Then the middle aged man took all 4 Churros to the fryer bare hands still. Deep inside i was like .... okay the churros gonna be fry so the bacteria will get killed. But that did not end there. After frying, he had it drained from the frying strainer. And took the Churros 1 by 1 to coat some sugar with bare hands ( no gloves). The cashier handed it to me. I told the cashier sayin:.... Hmmm, i'm sorry but the man that was cooking the Churros was barehands the whole time. Did he wash his hands? She replied: saying yes, he washes his hands . Authentic Mexican food which can surprisingly be hard to find in San Diego. I love the rolled tacos here and they have potato tacos for vegetarians too. Breffie burritos are awesome. My only gripe about this place is that it doesn't open until 10:00. Sometimes I want a breffie burrito at 9:00. I think the mall sets the opening time though. Solid 3 stars because the customer service was not the greatest and the food was just ok. I came in for lunch time and there was only a small line of people ordering. Since I saw 3 star reviews I knew I had to it play safe and get only things that were recommended by others. I wanted to get a grilled chicken burrito but they were out. So I ordered a carne asada Burrito instead. I added guacamole (.75¢) and pico de Gallo to enhance the flavor. They have a salsa bar and I was selecting the hot salsa when my order was called (12 minutes later). I was pretty amazed since there were like two others ahead of me. I had to ask for a plate because the burrito came with only a plastic wrapper on a lunch tray. I sat down to enjoy the burrito. The meat was pretty good and it tasted fresh but I kept on looking for beans or other ingredients to give it more flavor but I could not find them :( I guess their burritos were only meat, tortilla and pico de Gallo. Where I come from burritos usually have beans or rice inside the burrito. I was happy that I had added guacamole and pico de Gallo. The hot salsa algo gave it a great flavor. If I ever come back to this Mexican restaurant I would probably add beans, guacamole and pico de Gallo to my burrito. The prices were pretty affordable ($7) for a carne asada burrito with guacamole. Oh, dear goodness. I was in there today and ordered a flying saucer chicken tostada to go. I literally walked out to my car and opened the container, only to find the fried tortilla absolutely limp and soggy - and flat as a pancake. From the counter to the grill you could see it was clean and the employees were really friendly and nice. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese burrito. it was a decent size and tasted great. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon hardly had any fat! The tortilla was by far the best part. It was so hot, fresh, and soft like it was just made. They weren't busy but still took a very long time to prepare my order of chilaquiles. The food was some of the worst dreck I've ever tasted but to my eternal shame I ate it anyway.
