We got a "premium room" because they had no regular rooms left. And it was not inexpensive, but the room was just like any hotel room. Nothing really extra about it. The hallways smelled overpowering of vanilla and you have to haul your luggage quite a way to get to the lodge we were staying at. It is like they didn't think when they were designing the lodges and parking. We ended up helping an older couple who were exhausted and only halfway up the path with their luggage. Would I stay here again? Honestly, the John Muir Lodge where we stayed the night prior was much cheaper and the room was the same as this premium room. And the cost was a lot less. Considering they are only 45 minutes apart, I would do the John Muir lodge instead. read more

WUKSACHI LODGE is the in-park lodging inside SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK. It consists of several buildings that are split across a street, but are still very walkable to each other. You check in at the main building where the restaurant and gift shop is. You're not staying here so don't unload your vehicle. We stayed in the Stewart building, which seems identical to the building next door. The quiet I experienced while staying here is so peaceful. Totally lowered by blood pressure and heart rate. Our room was clean and in great condition. It's not new, modern or fashionable, but it is in excellent condition. Warning: No elevators in the Stuart building. The lobby is so cozy. Decked out for Christmas. I love it!! The restaurant inside the main building, though not serving Michelin star foods, has an amazing space with super high ceilings, with floor-to-ceiling windows so you can enjoy the forest outside. They have a large outdoor patio with picnic tables which is their "Pizza Patio" in the summer. The breakfast buffet looks great, but we knew we couldn't eat that much so we ordered a la carte, which was a provided option. Our server was super friendly and fast and patient. It's convenient to stay at WUKSACHI LODGE because you'll be driving up and down this highway to visit all the points of interest in SEQUOIA NP. There is no other roads to use if you want to see the points of interests. This will save you so much time instead of staying outside the park and then driving up the mountain to get here. By the way, that repair they're doing on the mountain road that requires one side of the road to stop at the stop light and wait for a whole 5-10 minutes so all the opposing traffic has passed? WORST Lodge/Hotel/Vacation Spot I have ever been to. My experience was so bad I swore I would leave a review. Let's start off with my rooms. I booked 3 different rooms for all my family members. Upon arrival, I was told that I only had one single room, and they were all sold out. (Keep in mind this is the day before their last day before closing for the season). The ENTIRE staff there (besides the male bartender) was extremely rude. From front desk, to restaurant staff. TERRIBLE SERVICE, if I could give this place 0 stars I would. After I was told "an Italian family just canceled" they were able to squeeze in another room for me and my family with a total of 2 rooms now for 9 people. The rooms smelled, had paper thin walls, and was extremely loud at night. My experience was so bad I left this morning and didn't even bother checking out to save myself the second nights money. I just got home and couldn't help but to leave this review. Do yourself and your family a favor, and stay away from this place. Beautiful scenery, but then again, the every angle of Sequoya was beautiful. read more

Maybe I've had better food, service and room, I still give this place 5 stars. Food: Great breakfast buffet! Got lucky and had a table with a view. Location: Fantastic, everything close enough, a lot of hikes and sequoias grove was amazing. Rooms: A bit worn out, mattress probably needs to be replaced but overall not bad. This was the best place to stay at sequoia national park with 2 young kids. Only had to go up the windy road once to get to a conveniently located, cute lodge - and to stay in the area for sightseeing. The lodge location is very close to the primary sites of the park. We got the superior room which was very spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and pillows. The walk to the main building was very close and easy to walk to with the kids, and food options were great for being in the middle of a mountain. Our dinner service by Izzy and then by Ethan the next day were excellent - and the fireplace in the dining room for dinner was a lovely cozy way to end our days of hiking in the snow. There is no cell service in the park and limited WiFi in the lodge lobby and the rooms. Before your ascent up the mountain, make sure you have maps handy! read more

We just visited for spring break. The room was perfect for the four of us. My kids slept in the pull out couch comfortably. Simple and cozy room but had everything we needed. We stayed in a superior room for the AC (window unit). The room was very nice, and the superior rooms have a small living room with a couch and huge tv. It made relaxing after a long day of hiking and exploring easy. Beds were comfy and shower was hot and had good pressure. This hotel costs more, but you get what you pay for. We had an amazing stay at the Wuksachi Lodge. It's tucked away (about an hour from the park entrance) so it wasn't in a highly populated part of the park. The service was excellent, and it was super convenient having two restaurants on site. We stayed in the Sillman building, and unloading the car was really easy since they had luggage carts right there in the parking lot. One of the highlights of our trip was the stargazing tour. It was absolutely stunning, and rightly one of the main suggestions when traveling to SNP. The purple shuttle line picks you up right from the lodge, so it's easy to get to other areas of the park without using your own car. I would definitely recommend due to the friendly staff and overall convenience. read more

Nice deck to eat on, but that's about it. Wish we checked out the reviews before we came because then we would have brought our own food like everyone else recommended. the rooms are nothing special. hard to believe they didn't install decks for each of the rooms because the landscape is nice. Pluses: Clean. In the middle of the park. Beautiful scenery. Close to General Sherman (5 miles?), Moro Rock, Giant Forest Museum, Lodgepole market (closed for remodeling) & Visitors center (2 miles). Free Shuttles to General Sherman, Lodgepole, Giant Forest museum, etc... from Wuksachi Lodge Cons: Front desk (older lady) could work on her hospitality skills. I paid for a deluxe view and when asked if my assigned Room (#113) had a view she dismissively replied, "ALL our rooms have a view." End of conversation. Why advertise for a more expensive room if you you're not going to honor it? My advice to you is don't fall for it-it's a scam. Not enough people working in the restaurant. 15-20 people waiting in line to order and one person at the register. Luckily we brought fixings' for sandwiches and some Top Ramen so we went back to our room and had that. I highly recommend bringing your own food. Please note-Lodgepole Market is closed down for remodeling. The second night we made sure to get there before the dinner crowd. We wanted to avoid the long line and wait time for food. Maybe you're depressed like so many others are right now. Maybe you're hopeful as Ms. Sanchez above suggests. Please be hopeful. If you live in SoCal, put Wuksachi Lodge on your possible bucketlist of places to visit either now (COVID restrictions are well in place) or as soon as this mess goes away. A two-day visit here may or may not be plenty enough to enjoy a restful peace in one of the tidy, clean rooms with or without your dog, visit General Sherman, and drive to other beautiful and interesting places within the park. If you don't bring your own cooler, there is the Peaks restaurant just a short walk away, but be forewarned. A front desk employee explained to me that it would be open at a specific time the next morning, and it was not. So we got free coffee from the lodge, then later went to the Lodgepole Market a short drive up the road for some cold, pre-packaged sandwiches and other snacks. I reserved a room last minute and was never able to get a hold of the front desk to try for a better rate. A standard room for 2 adults and 2 children with 2 queen beds and their "pet friendly package" set me back $263 not including fees and taxes for one night. The pet package was supposed to include "room accommodations, $25 pet fee per night for each pet, and a stylish bandanna and pet treat as a welcome amenity" but we never received a stylish bandana. Ha! Even with the smoke from nearby fires, it was nice to get away from the city lights and late night frights (sirens wailing & train horns, etc.). FINAL TIPS Wifi in our room (Sequoia lodge on the second floor #320) was adequate enough for my two kiddos to meet on Zoom for school and complete their assignments through Google classroom. Also, I did not get any coverage through Sprint (T-Mobile). I think my brother has Verizon and he didn't get service either. Hope that helps. Thanks for reading. read more

We stayed 2 nights at the Wuksachi Lodge! Awesome place! Breakfast buffet was awesome for my husband and 25yo old! I had GF DF options for me and my daughter loved her Burrito! The park is awesome and we walked around 16 K steps so we were hungry and tired for dinner time and the food was perfect at the Peaks Restaurant! My sons's ribeye was very good and my daughter had filet mignon! My husband and I had the trout with pilaf rice and asparagus (GF,DF for me)! The house Margarita with blood orange was very good too! There were only 6-7 tables with customers out of approximately 30 tables BUT we never had a waitress come to our table. Lou was supposed to be our waitress but never showed up. Excellent location inside the park. Customer service was amazing and everyone wanted to pet me. Rooms were clean but wish they could remove the brown carpet and install something more hygienic hence 4 stars. Otherwise, a great place to stay and explore. The pawrents and I have stayed here many times. Did I mention they love pups and dogs are allowed with a pet fee? All the employees were super kind to me I guess it helps being cute. We camp in Sequoia every summer and have wanted to stay at Wuksachi Lodge for years. We decided on a winter trip this year and splurged on a stay here. While we were underwhelmed by our room, the staff and location were amazing. The room had all of the basic necessities, but it is very outdated and the beds were horribly uncomfortable. We went to the restaurant in the lodge for breakfast and were disappointed that we couldn't order from the menu- there was only a buffet available. However, after chatting with the super nice server (who we later found out was the manager) we learned that due to COVID and other issues beyond anyone's control, the lodge was severely understaffed. If you are exploring Sequoia and Kings Canyon, staying at Wuksachi Lodge will provide the basic amenities necessary. However, it is not the upscale experience one might expect for the cost. read more

We were underwhelmed with our experience for the amount that we were charged. Shortly after unpacking, we visited The Peaks for dinner. Unfortunately, multiple items that we attempted to order from the (admittedly small) menu were unavailable. The food we did order, both that night & again the next evening, was average in quality & certainly not deserving of its rather high cost at a restaurant that claims to offer a "full menu using the finest ingredients and locally sourced meats and seafood." Every single staff member we encountered was friendly & hospitable, but there were some issues. We had a 2-night stay. When the room attendant came by during the middle of the trip, we asked her to return in 1 hour because we were still resting. When we came back to the room late that night, it was immediately clear that the room had not been cleaned. Because it was late & we were tired, we just pushed through it instead of asking for an after hours cleaning. The front desk supervisor (at check-in) & manager (at check-out) both seemed underprepared in their roles. The supervisor was unsure about basic policies at the restauraunt & also told us he wasn't trained in processing the gift certificate that we wanted applied to our account. I was told to wait for the manager, but when I met him at check-out, he too said that he didn't know how to process the gift certificate. I had planned to tell the manager about our poor experience, but the final straw was when the person in charge couldn't handle something that I thought wasn't a tough task (I have spent over 2 decades working in hotel operations). I lost any faith that he could help rectify our situation. We enjoyed our time at Sequoia National Park itself & will be back soon, but will not return to Wuksachi Lodge - or recommend it to our fellow travelers we meet - based on this experience. read more

The location inside Sequoia National Park is what you are paying for. It's about a 10 minute drive to the main attraction trails like General Sherman Tree, Museum, etc. However, the lodge is old and food options are very limited. Peaks Restaurant, the only place that has food on premises, is average American type food place inside the lobby, which is about a 5 minute walk from the rooms. About the rooms- one warning if you have allergies- this place allows pets and the cleaning staff is not very thorough. (No offense to the cleaning staff- it's an old place inside a national park-we cannot expect top notch cleaning services). So you will have pet hair and breath in pet dander. My nose was itchy this whole time in the room. This place is essentially a high end wood cabin in the forest with running water. "Roughing it" for those who don't camp in tents! Staff are nice. We got the Superior room with a king bed and the extra space was nice. There is a microwave and a fridge! Views were nice. Also would suggest bringing a flash light to walk around. It gets pitch dark and you'll be using your phone light if you don't. read more

Because we travel with our dog we were assigned to "Sequoia". A warning to older folk or disabled: there is no elevator. Our room was on the second floor and it was quite something to roll / carry our things up the stairs. We weren't told about this when making our reservation other than a quick question: "Can you handle stairs?" Well, yes, but not easily while carrying ALL of our luggage and the dog at the same time. Also: there is a long cement path (with a switchback even) to push the luggage cart (by yourself). This trail is actually interrupted at a couple of points by soft sand - not helpful while pushing the luggage cart! Also: at night after enjoying a (very good) meal at the restaurant there is a certain amount of walking to get back to "Sequoia". There is almost NO lighting. Tripping is a major concern! Take a flashlight. These are surprising errors. read more

It has a relic system of ordering food which will leave you in a line for about 30 minutes and if your thinking of ordering alcohol think again.... They have a LONG LIST OF OUT OF STOCK.... Absolutely no beer in stock, NO WELL DRINKS... we kept getting told they were waiting on a delivery that never showed during our 2 night stay! They also have a menu with about 1/3 of the food being out of stock..... when you book a room here you think of the convenience of everything being handled efficiently and being in stock.... Unfortunately we were disappointed. The rooms were ok, the water pressure for the shower is below average. I hope the management reads this post and realizes that for people spending the money to make the voyage up here want to be met with the expectations that their website promises. read more

We loved staying here. It was an older hotel but met our needs and we loved it! We did not get a room inside the main hotel, ours was in another building. Just a short walk to the main building. It was clean and comfortable! Make reservations for dinner and breakfast for all the days you plan to stay as spots fill fast! The breakfast buffet is wonderful as is the dinner menu. Take advantage of the free shuttle and go to Morrell rock first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds! Loved staying here! read more

Wifi internet service- non existent, spotty at best, I'm not complaining just warning those who cant live without it. Restaurant at the lodge is ok, food is ok, service pretty amazing, ladies there go above and beyond. Breakfast was better than dinner didn't have lunch so i don't know how it is. If kids want to sled head over to wolverton- this is where you park to take shuttle to General Sherman tree. Great spot for a picnic ao take chairs and snacks. My bf and I met up with his brother and wife this past week in sequoia. We were originally staying 2 nights but the hotel was able to book us for one more night. The lady who helped us was super sweet, all the staff members were friendly and helpful. They were also able to put our hotel rooms ext to each other. Due to Covid there is no coffee machine or microwave in each room. Luckily the mini ridge worked. You can still get free complimentary coffee from 7am-10am. Our room was the Stewart lodge. (There are no elevators or any other way to get your luggage to the second floor). We had to carry all our stuff up and it was a struggle.) the room itself was okay. There is no AC, just a ceiling fan. Luckily we didn't get too hot in our room. The carpet was a little dirty so I recommend bringing sandals or to wear socks in the room. In the bathroom the shower head sucks. Its like the water is coming out of a little hose. Also, due to Covid there were no other restaurants open. We had to get our food from the restaurant connected to the hotel. For breakfast we tried the breakfast burrito and lumber jack breakfast. The burrito was not good, it was very dry and has no sauce. The lumberjack breakfast pancakes tasted a little hard. For dinner we had the pizza, salad, cold cut sandwich, herb roasted chicken and baked potato. The pizza, salad, chicken and baked potato were okay, definitely overpriced but they tasted fine. Do not get the cold cut sandwich, it is disgusting. My bf and I took one bite and threw it away. I couldn't get myself to eat it. The sandwich itself was a little soggy with barely any meat in it. You can tell the sandwich was just sitting out for a while. Dinner is from 5:30-8. Make sure to get there early, otherwise things sell out. Also, there is a free water refill station inside the lobby area in case you need to fill up for water bottle. The hotel is located in a great area. It's close to the main attractions such as moro rock, Sherman tree etc. The price is a little expensive. Over $300 per night for no ac, weak water pressure and no microwave or hair dryer. Also, beware of bears. We saw one right below the restaurant deck. Overall my experience here was good. 1 Star for the staff who was able to give one additional day on short notice. 1 Star for the location. 1 Star for the staff enforcing social distancing. I would argue if $300/night was justified for the limited activities & amenities .. bummed there was no planned countdown or event for guests to celebrate. They could do things to spruce up the vibe here. Get bigger/smart-tv's maybe instead of the teeny 32" screens. Improve the entertainment service options cause we had absolutely No channels/internet during snowfall. Adding more landscaping lights to illuminate the outside would make for a way better view and visibility at night. Entryway section of rooms should have stone/tile instead of carpet as it's a sure cause for the moldy smell after tracking snow. Just my opinion. Other than that the main lodge and restaurant are cozy and well maintained. The cashier at restaurant was so bland with her demeanor, she could try to smile for customers more or not make it obvious she's over her job. Dinner was great and drink options were fair. I stayed here for one night due to the beautiful scenery and great location. After a short trek to the room I am amazed at the spectacular view from my room! The mattress needs to be replaced as it was lumpy and caved in on one side. Articles of clothing were left behind by a previous guest. An old coffee pod was left in the coffee maker. The bathroom is in need of an update. The caulking around the shower separated long ago. The water pressure was so low it took over 20 minutes to rinse my hair! read more

Rooms have a slight level of dinge, a little dusty in some areas and a stale/old smell when we first arrived. Dont recommend breakfast especially families with children, pretty much everything is over priced, ex: the breakfast "buffet" you pay $23 for is essentially what you'd typically get for free when staying at a non-luxury hotel. (eggs, that floppy kind of bacon/sausage, toast, bagels) AND there was a "build your own waffle" on the menu for $10 which was again, typically the waffle you make yourself for free at standard non-luxury hotels (you literally are building it yourself by making it, there are no customizations available). Dinner was fantastic though, a bartender let us know that typically she recommends dinner to guests as it's the best meal of the day there for them. Bartender was friendly, but did leave a piece of straw paper that fell in my drink. I didn't think much of it but know some people might not like that. read more
