The area this hotel is in is a bit sketchy but that's no fault of the hotel, just be aware when walking around especially at night.

The pictures do not show how small the suite we booked was and the "upgraded view" was of a wall about two feet away. There is nowhere to put your stuff other than the ground. the patio: half was closed and what was there were just a few tables and chairs. The staff: friendly but cannot compensate for the state of the rooms. We survived one night with the worst sleep while still wearing earplugs. We abandoned the rest of our stay and are eating the cost even though we did ask for a refund. We asked both the front desk and were instructed to email the generic line. We have not gotten a response.

This was an odd stay: at about 9:30 pm, we received a knock on our hotel room door. A man with…read morewalkie-talkie stood beyond the peep hole. I asked if I could help him and he excitedly responded, "Oh! Em, I'm just confirming that this room is occupied." I assured him it was and he scurried off down the hallway talking to someone on his radio. This was before the literal garbage fire. The hotel sits on the edge of less than savory part of town. In fact, our room overlooked a park that is frequented by unhoused people. This, in and of itself, wasn't a problem -- this part of town has several drop in clinics that become gathering points for unhoused people. It became a problem when, at 11 pm, I opened the curtains for one last look at the city, only to be treated by a trashcan in the park outside our window spewing smoke. Just as I picked up the phone to call Guest Services, the thing erupted into flames. There are trees in this park whose trunks are firmly planted in the turf across the street, but whose limbs brush against the hotel, so I wanted to be sure this was resolved before going to bed. When I told guest services about the fire, I was challenge with, "well, is it on hotel property?" I explained it wasn't, but it was just outside of our window, and the front desk staff advised me to call the non emergency line for the fire department. Now, we're from out of town -- thus our needing a hotel to sleep in for the night -- and deferring to the out-of-towners to report a fire close to the hotel seems a bit less than responsible; we don't know street names, or of this is a common enough occurrence with which to bother the fire department. I told the the fire department that I had called the front desk, and that they handed the task of calling off to me, and the dispatcher's response was a sarcastic, "oh, that's convenient for them. Well it looks like someone -- not your hotel -- called the fire in, so the firefighters are already en route." Was this an anomalous chain of very strange events? Maybe. But it's all left us feeling a more than a little uneasy.

However, my thoughts on the true quality of a good experience are how the staff and team manage the expectation. The "snug" room we were assigned at check in was too small for two guest in my opinion. The staff was able to move us to a different room for the remained of our 4 day stay. I offered to pay the difference and they declined - a nice gesture but not required on their part. Also, each and every encounter with a staff member either from the hotel, coffee shop, or restaurant was extremely pleasant. It's easy to say they were all just nice people (a big compliment in my opinion). I would come back to The Hoxton and recommend it to friends planning a trip to Portland. The hotel management was excellent too, very approachable. Overall we had a great stay which made our trip even more enjoyable.

Our room was standard king, narrow and long, not the super spacious one but good enough. Staff were polite and efficient. The hotel is very clean, dated , but it was kept up. No drama, no confusion, just keys in hand and off you go. The building itself has that great old Portland movie-era charm. It feels like the kind of place where a film star from the 1940s might walk around the corner at any moment looking for a martini. Instead it's usually just me looking for the elevator, but still... the vibe is excellent. Parking is on the next block over and surprisingly easy, which in Portland counts as a minor miracle. I've spent more time looking for parking at grocery stores. Now let's talk about the Driftwood Bar. Do not skip it. Curt the bartender is the kind of guy who makes you want to cancel your plans and just sit there all evening solving the world's problems over a well-made drink. Friendly, funny, and he actually knows how to make a proper cocktail. I wish I had more time to just saddle up to the bar and chat with him. Breakfast at Gracie's was also great. Our waitress Erin took care of us Wednesday morning when the place was mostly empty. Service was friendly, the food looked like someone actually cared when they put it on the plate, and the prices were totally reasonable. No $38 "artisanal avocado toast with existential despair." Just good breakfast done right. So what more do you want? Comfortable clean bed, reasonable prices, great bar, solid breakfast, and you're right in the heart of Portland. If you're staying in the city and want a hotel with character instead of a bland corporate sleep box, Hotel Deluxe is the move. I'll definitely be back...

The greeting was subpar (which was one of my favorite moments of each stay) and then what I experienced in my room was well below the standard I would expect: cracked window, scudge coming down the bathroom drain, stained carpet, a slip cover on the couch because the couch was in such bad shape, etc. I ran into the manager in the elevator and shared what I was experiencing and invited him to see the room. Instead of moving me to a different room, he offered an upgrade for my next visit. Why would I come back. In addition, he shared that the front desk person isn't great at hospitality and she is leaving. This is his hotel... and he threw her under the bus. There were many more moments: Going to get my car only to find the garage door locked. Someone should have let me know to call in advance to have access to my car - I was carrying all my bags and had to walk back to the hotel. And my experience with the bar service and food was subpar. I will not be returning.

The soaps in the showers were top quality and smelled lovely - Rooms were very quiet and the whole hotel had a luxurious feel. - The staff were INCREDIBLE! Special shout out to the front desk staff who helped out immensely. We did have to change rooms in the middle (our reservation, not the hotel's fault) and they made it seamless. - Extra special shout out to Richie in the valet service. All of the valet guys were incredible, quick and kind. - The food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was delicious and relatively affordable for the quality. - Wine hour (free wine from 5-6pm) was a nice touch to get our evenings going in the right direction. The wine wasn't the best but I can't complain about free wine and appetizers. - Our only criticism was the lack of water stations on the hotel floors. Not sure if we couldn't find them - they did have ice machines - but we did have to go back to the lobby and into the fitness room to fill our bottles. Not a bad thing, just a little inconvenient. Overall, an excellent stay and would recommend this location greatly!

I braced myself for a balmy room -- and got the opposite. The front desk had already checked, already planned, already made sure I'd never feel it. That's the difference between service and *care*. They gave me real information, not scripted apologies, and my whole stay stayed pleasant because of it. The little touches worked: the cards for tipping and amenities made everything simple. The room was clean. The bedding was immaculate. I slept deep and woke up comfortable. Inside, the hotel was quiet, calm, and still somehow fun -- with plenty of workspaces to choose from. My window faced the river, and there's something that settles in you about waking up to water. There's something else, too, in hearing regular conversations, watching regular people head to work or stroll the waterfront. That's real. That's a city letting you in. The location made everything easy -- right downtown on Morrison, steps from the waterfront. I hopped the train and went where I needed to go without calculating an Uber every time I stepped outside. I enjoyed the drink chip and the snack or treat left for guests in the lobby during happy hour. Hotel Rose is my home away from home, and the Portland crew gets my rave review.

While I kinda like different cultures, the Swinger's club they are associated with may have encouraged the nicotine smoke smell in the curtains/ walls- per rumor, but either way- I should have negotiated a lower amount after they didn't use the right treatment after mentioned. I was so happy to see they had sensible showers for a boutique hotel. It was also nice and quiet. The rooms had everything we needed. I enjoyed the breakfasts we got here. I especially liked the coffees. The servers were very kind and accommodating. The final day I asked if I could use my beverage credit to get a bottle of wine to go and I thankfully was. I would definitely stay in this hotel again I had such a great experience.

An OK upper scale hotel disguised as a premium one in Amex FHR program…read more This hotel has some unique and thoughtful arts and designs, which distinguish itself from budget hotel brands like Fairfield and Hilton Garden Inn, but it is no way a typical FHR level hotel. The staff here were not as rude as many others have experienced, but I wouldn't say they're friendly either. I firstly arrived at 1PM but they said it's too early to check-in - a potential Amex FHR benefit not honored. Yes the benefit is "12pm check-in, when available" but it's still disappointing. The guy who checked me in went through the Amex FHR benefits but claimed that I could only get free breakfast for one because I was staying alone. I've stayed tens of Amex FHR and Chase The Edit hotels and have never heard this before. After pushing back he agreed to honor breakfast credit for two. He didn't mention anything about upgrades and I didn't get it, either. So it's like they didn't want to provide anything not guaranteed in Amex FHR. The person who stored my backpack was impatient and almost like I interrupted his rest. He just opened the door and asked me to put my backpack in the room by myself. The room condition was fair. There was no bad odor or obvious dirtiness, but the headboard was damaged. By looking at the bathroom along, you won't believe you're staying in an Amex FHR hotel. Finally they failed to apply the Amex FHR food credit and billed me the full restaurant charge. I had to stop by the front desk to have this corrected. It's almost like they just tried to list themselves on the Amex FHR program to draw more bookings but really tried hard to squeeze the cost by providing minimal benefits possible.

The bathroom was clean, well lit, and I enjoy not having the little bottles of shampoo and conditioner, and instead the larger containers for less waste. It was generally quiet in the room, though you could hear the light rail go by. Wasn't a huge fan of the fact that the mini fridge was full of things that if I touched it would charged my room. If you wanted to bring leftovers from nearby restaurant, you can't because there's no space in the fridge to put things. Overall it was a good place to stay while in Portland.

So when you come in, pass the valet riveters to the left, and take the elevator up. The check-in process was fast, but the elevators took longer than they did. To access the elevators to the room floors, you need a key unless you're going down to the 1st floor or lobby. There's a restaurant on the 15th floor that had a line at the elevator because they wanted to access it without a key, and I think that's what kept the elevator area busy. The rooms are pretty big and spacious, with your usual amenities and mini-bar items. The couch was a good size. However, the TV does not move, so if you are on the couch and watching TV, the angle is sideways. The in-room dining menu is limited, with little selection, and even the restaurant/bar behind the lobby has a limited food menu. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were very flat when you lay on them. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and nice

Then I came across PDX Fun and my search was over! Each bounce house and slide is unique and unlike anything I've ever seen before. I rented the ultimate dance party bounce house with an attached slide, and it was a hit! Larger than life, super colorful, disco ball and amazing light show inside the house. I was able to play music from my phone via Bluetooth for the ultimate party experience. The delivery and set up was pretty seamless. I didn't have to lift a finger. Benjamin and Kathryn were very respectful of my home and yard, very friendly and non-intrusive. I will definitely be using them and recommending them to everyone I know!

Picked this place to stay because it was walking distance to lots of fun shops, restaurants and bars. Great price and only a short cab or uber to downtown Portland where you will pay way more money for a hotel. Rooms are clean and staff is very friendly. Free WiFi was nice and be aware there is no tv in the room.

Suited my needs perfectly! I took the metlink from the airport and had no issues! It's also close to bus stops and other rails. I took it all over the city! There are 4 rooms for rent and you share 2.5 bathrooms. I never had any issues using the bathrooms when I needed! Everything was kept clean! There is also a small kitchen area where there are items available. I however did not eat anything since I was eating my way around town! Soo many options and not enough stomach space . There are also lots of food places around the corner as well as a Trader Joe's. Works perfectly! Definitely a gem.

We enjoyed another great weekend stay at Cambria. Great rate at a great location…read more This time I did notice a couple of quirks about the room: The lamp partially blocks the corner of the TV. The cord is not long enough to just put the lamp down on the bench, so we had to improvise and use an upside down trash can to put the lamp on to prevent it from blocking the TV. The phone to TV screen sharing feature (can't recall if it was airplay or Chromecast) kept cutting in and out. So we ended up just watching the end of the Mariners game on our phone. The toilet paper is located on the back wall, instead of a side wall, so you have to twist around quite a bit to reach it. None of these things would discourage me from coming back. They were just odd. The lamp set up seems like it'd be the easiest to fix, while changing the toilet paper placement would be the most impactful. Tip: There are plenty of lots to park your car overnight in the area. I recommend checking out Spothero. I think we paid about $10 for 24 hours with in and out privileges. It beats having to plug the meter every couple of hours. We've noticed that this area of Portland is very strict when it comes to ticketing for parking.

Staff was friendly and the hotel was clean. However, hotels are for sleeping, and I got a very, very bad night's sleep due to a faulty motion-sensing bathroom light-- which is apparently a problem in many rooms of this hotel. In short, the bathroom light turned on at random throughout my stay -- including when I was trying to sleep. I made one call to the front desk, followed their tips (it's a known problem!), that didn't help, then another call and a visit to my room by hotel staff at almost midnight. I asked about a different room and was told the issue could not be guaranteed to be better in a different room. The staff member figured out a temporary fix. This little gem in the neighborhood feels like overnighting at your favorite Aunties house!…read more We stayed for 2 nights while on a business trip to Portland, and this apartment made all the difference. The bedding is super cozy and we slept so well! 5 stars alone for such comfy sleep! The kitchen truly has everything you need. I stocked the full size refrigerator with 2 bags of groceries from Trader Joes and was able to cook 3 fresh meals each day easily. The location is in a tree lined neighborhood. It is quiet and surrounded by lush greens everywhere. We picked a few blackberries in the driveway getting into our car :). Parking is in a generous sized drive up, just a few steps from your door. Jane, the owner and host, was genuinely gracious. She was prompt with communication, very helpful and made us feel personally welcome. Like I started this review - it feels like staying at your favorite Aunties house! Jane would be that Auntie! The suite has all of the professional expectations, and so much more. This is a home away from home and we sure do look forward to returning.
