As a parent, especially with a child this young, I expected the dentist to take the time to clearly explain what was going on, what treatment was being recommended, and why. Instead, the entire appointment felt extremely rushed. I was told that my son has multiple cavities and that five teeth may need to be pulled, which is obviously very concerning to hear about a 2-year-old. However, I did not feel that the dentist took the time to thoroughly explain the situation, discuss the different treatment options, or help me understand what would be best for my child. When I asked questions, I felt like I was met with an attitude rather than patience and reassurance. When you're discussing potentially extracting several teeth from such a young child, parents deserve clear explanations, compassion, and the opportunity to ask questions without feeling rushed. I left the consultation feeling uncomfortable, uninformed, and disappointed with the lack of communication and bedside manner. I will definitely be seeking a second opinion before making any decisions regarding my son's dental treatment.

They are truly redefining the dental experience--transforming what is often a dreaded visit into something that feels more like a relaxing dental spa. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the front desk team and invited to relax in a cozy waiting area complete with comfortable seating, a TV, and complimentary coffee. It was clear right away that every detail of the experience is intentional. During my first visit, Dr. Hemann took the time to really listen, ask questions, and clearly explain my diagnosis and treatment plan. Her calm and caring approach immediately put me at ease. Kirby Smiles clearly understands the common fears and pain points associated with dental visits, and they go above and beyond to make the experience as comfortable and painless as possible. My hygienist, Stacey, was amazing! She made sure I was comfortable with a blanket, a pillow, and even a selection of movies to watch during my treatment. She walked me through every step of the process and even followed up with a call the next day to check on me--something I've never experienced before. The entire team is knowledgeable, patient, and great at explaining things in a way that's easy to understand. You truly feel like they're partnering with you in your dental care. I feel so blessed to have found Kirby Smiles--and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Our experience at this dental office started out fine, but things went downhill once my daughter was referred to get braces. Over the course of the year to year and a half that my daughter had her braces on, she started developing cavities. I understand that this can happen with kids who have braces because it's harder to clean underneath the brackets. What's unacceptable is that despite frequent visits and constant x-rays, this office completely failed to catch the extent of the problem. This office takes x-rays almost every time you come in. We were there regularly for six-month checkups and often even more frequently for cleanings because she had braces--sometimes every three months. After repeatedly reviewing x-rays, I was told my daughter had only three to four cavities. That turned out to be completely wrong. I eventually started looking at the x-ray images myself and could clearly see multiple areas of decay. Anyone who has ever seen a dental x-ray can spot cavities pretty easily. Concerned, I took my daughter to several other dentists for second, third, and even fourth opinions. Every single one of them showed me on the exact same x-rays that my daughter actually had over 20 cavities. Over 20. The most frustrating part is that the dentist took absolutely no responsibility. When I asked directly how something this serious could be missed, the response was essentially a shrug and a comment that "sometimes things get missed." Missing one or two is one thing. Missing twenty cavities, especially when you're taking x-rays almost every visit, is completely unacceptable. Because of this negligence, my daughter now has to go through extensive dental work that could have been addressed much earlier if the x-rays had been properly reviewed. I honestly should sue for negligence. Please do yourself a favor and think twice before bringing your child to this office--especially if they have braces and are at higher risk for cavities.

Office feels older and a little run down…read more I took both of my kids for cleanings. They took each kid back separately and had me sit in a waiting room. Keep in mind they are young- 7 and 6 years. My kids were scared having to go back without me. What really upset me was that they recommended a tooth pull, three crowns and a filling for my daughter and five crowns for my son. I never met the dentist. I am guessing that the dentist examined my kids after their cleaning but she never approached me, introdced herself or explained her exam or recommendations. This feels very wrong in a pediatric setting. The front desk staff told me this information while my daughter was crying. It was very unsettling hearing that my children needed this much work without hearing it from the dentist and being able to ask them questions. I listened to my gut and got a second opinion. New dentist said they each need two fillings and no crowns or teeth being pulled. That's a huge difference. For young kids who have a lifetime of dental appoitnments in the future, I want to create as little traumatic dental experiences as possible. Lesson I learned- listen to my gut and get a second opinion when something doesn't feel right. Warning to anyone going to this dentist who may need a lot of work. Don't let them take advantage of you. Also- they charge 25 dollars per patient to forward records. I imagine this is an effort to dissuade patients from transferring dentists. This also feels wrong as patients should have access to their records.

Back in July, my 15 year old daughter needed a sealant, the treatment plan had an $85 charge for sealant on one tooth; however, I knew my insurance covered it. They said it didn't. I called my insurance, spoke to a rep, and he said sealants are covered until their 16th birthday. He offered to call the office with me on the line, but the front desk person said the insurance coordinator wasn't there. They said they would send out a PRED that could take up to 2 weeks to come back. I followed up and they confirmed the sealant was covered. She had her appointment today for a cleaning and sealant, but the sealant was not done. My husband took them to the appointment, so when they came home and told me the sealant was not done, I asked why. They said the the assistant "forgot to do it" and they were sorry. They wanted to reschedule during a school day, and I said no. They came back and said that the sealant is not covered--AGAIN! This is not the first time they try to charge me for something that is covered. At this point, I just asked for the process to get a copy of the dental records, and we are moving on. I don't have time to do my job and the dental front desk's as well. I would look elsewhere for a pediatric dentist. Mine are at the age where they can go to a regular dentist, so that's what we will be doing.
