I left out of this place last Friday so full, content and 4lbs heavier!.....I know because I weighed myself when I got home; after needing a nap from the awesome-glutton experience. LOL One meal here will convince even the most skeptical, that Silver Diner is not your typical Granny type Diner. This place offers up modern hip food, diner classics and everything under the sun that's edible with a culinary twist! From Quinoa bowls...to certified Angus Beef, Buffalo Sliders, huge Cobb Salads that easily serves two....to Rib-eye Steaks, Amish Eggs, Pomegranate Yogurt Shakes, Homemade Deserts, Hand-Spun Super Thick Ice Cream Shakes....AND then there is last....but not least, an extensive menu list of Breakfast entrees and sides served all day! Ahhhhh.....Breakfast....my favorite kind of eats 24/7! On this particular day, I had one of the best Breakfast eats that I have had in a long time. The Silver Diner served me proper! I ordered the Country Scrambler. This meal was truly fit for a king. My friend decided on ordering the Lumberjack Breakfast Platter. I thought she was out of her mind. Now, don't get me wrong. I know some women can eat....but man this plate would put me to shame. I kept wondering where would it all go in such a small frame...lol. Both food servings and portions were huge...we almost could not eat it all! My plate alone included: Amish scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, cremini mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and jack cheddar cheese all scrambled together; then topped with a generous helping of sausage gravy. In addition, the dish comes with silver dollar pancakes, strawberries and toast. Talk about a lot of food!...and for only like $12 bucks!! I got the sausage gravy on the side because it is overkill in my opinion. Also, I substituted buttermilk biscuits for the toast. And, glad I did. The biscuits were buttery, soft, crisp-flaky like and oh...so good. For the meats, I choose turkey sausage and something very rare to find these days in a Diner....Ham Steak! If you've never had Ham Steak, try it once and you would be hooked! Both meats were cooked to perfection. The eggs and home fries, within the scrambler, were seasoned and on point. The silver-dollar pancakes were okay. On top of all this, I had the audacity to order a side of Corned-Beef Hash for the two of us to split!....You could have rolled us out of there because we were too full and couldn't walk when it was all said and done. The CB Hash was cooked to perfection--crispy potatoes and tender corned-beef. Seriously, everything...in all honesty was delicious about my meal. Great service too. The server was great as well. She was attentive and kept the hot coffee coming. In all, I am a fan and will be back. This Silver Diner location gets 4.5 Stars from me. Only a 1/2 star deduction because of the wait time; but in all fairness it was a short wait. This location is so popular that it can get crowded for sure on weekends and early mornings; but hey....that's what happens when good food --at a great value-- is in town! Forget IHOP....this will be my new "all-inclusive" Diner type spot for sure....when I got the knack for quick Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner eats! There was a line to even get to her . When we finally do , she said there was 5-10 mins wait . I gave her my name and asked are you guys short stuffed ? ( this was a conversation starter ans I completely understand if they were . I said that because I saw MULTIPLE dirty tables) she said Nope. I said oh it's just that I see a lot of open tables , she goes "they are all dirty". I managed a restaurant for years , and I would fire her on the spot or give her a write up for this kind of altitude. In a Customer Service Environment you have to help each other. There are dirty tables next to her , some with just glasses , is it too hard for her to help out the rest of her team and clean it up? You might argue she can't leave the host station which brings me to my next point .. 2- the waiter came and told her 2 tables are ready . She took the people in front of us and went in the back to the bar area talking about me. I know this because the people she was talking to started looking towards us. She stayed in the back chit chatting for about 5 mins with different members of the team while we wait . She finally came to say follow me , when we went to the back guess what we found 9 fully clean tables in the back . Seriously ? Do you not want the business. Had a class to go to, it was kinda late, not many options open, so we decided to hit up thee Silver Diner. I've never been, but I have heard great things. I mean who doesn't love a diner? Yummo food and breffis ALLLLLL day! It seems like thee SD has changed some things around, as they now have locally sourced food, and very in my opinion not very diner-ish options. I mean who has heard of edamame hummus or brussel sprouts and lentils at a diner? Hey, now worries, I dug. When we arrived there was no wait. There is a nicely sized menu with plenty of options. If you're looking for something light to something uber heavy, they got you covered. At first I thought that I wanted a salad, that was until I saw that breffis menu. Yes! I tried the power breakfast, which came with egg whites topped with cremini mushrooms, spinach, roasted tomatoes, and feta cheese. It also came with turkey bacon, now I wanted the full fat version so I got the home fries and the biscuit. The menu states that it comes with fresh strawberries and whole wheat toast, you know it was heart healthy and all. He got the flat iron steak and eggs. Once the order was placed, it didn't take long for the food to arrive, once it did...nice! Pretty large portions, and everything looked yummy! My eggs were cooked well, and the vegetables that were added were nicely seasoned, and having them mixed with the feta cheese was just great. The potatoes, I liked, but they were a wee bit under seasoned for my taste. The biscuit was great, can't get any better than that. The turkey bacon- not my fave. I think I would have liked full fat bacon or ham.... Now on the flip side, he was not happy at all with his food, stating that his steak was less than seasoned as was his eggs and potatoes....I mean it looked good though. This place was just Great! We are visiting the area and our hotel staff recommended this 60's diner. You can play music at the table on a juke box 25 cents per song. But not only the music but the atmosphere is great. We ordered BLT with fries and cole slaw. It was the best! My husband ordered Carmel French Toast and it was the best he has had. Better than IHOP. Never again. It's 10:30 at night, so I check the Doordash options for late night. After ordering from Wawa , waiting 30 minutes and they never show up, Doordash cancelled the order. So now it's crunch time, bc there are less options available. After Silver diner scammed me, I was reluctant. My son even asked me, "Mom are you sure? Remember what happened last time." But I figured, the thief was the waitress that worked in Silver Diner when they ran my card. This time it would be Doordash processing my card, so I went ahead. Here's the breakdown: caramel challah french toast--horrible and dry. All they sent was 6 slices of bread, no caramel, no flavor, no glaze, nothing! 2 biscuits--Seriously guys, you sent me the same biscuits from the morning? they were hard as a rock!! I would have been embarrassed to send these to anyone. They went straight in the trash. Lite lemonade--I get the lite lemonade from Chik Fil A all the time! It actually has flavor and tastes of lemon. Silver Diner's was watery, and again lacking flavor. Chicken Wings with ranch--Ranch was nasty and wings were satisfactory--not good, not tasty, but when it's 11:30 at night and you're starving, you'll eat them. Luckily, I threw out whatever they were passing off as Ranch, bc I had my own. Maybe this place is better in person. Maybe they are just not equipped to do late night orders--and that's totally fine, but then don't offer it!! Especially if all you're going to do is throw whatever into a bag and not even quality check it! Then don't bother! I was surprized that the whole menu is now organic/local. The food is awesome! The turkey sliders with pesto, red pepper and balsalmic vinegar was great. Best milkshakes ever! They promise that they use only local farmer's products and even offer gluten free, and low calorie meals. You gotsta love that! I enjoy this place for the old school feeling. They are open until 3 am, and the music is awesome! The service is inconsistent tho. One week, I get my quaters-worth of music and get the best service. A week later it takes 30 minutes to get water and none of my quarters are working. Once they get that consistency thing down, they will be a great place and they may be able to keep the people. If you have dietary restrictions, ask about substitutions; the staff is also very accommodating and usually helps with suggestions. We had a ball! We had a server named Ronnie who was 21 years old and fantastic! I was impressed with his ease of conversation, memory of the order and fun attitude. We started with the bruschetta and lamb meatballs. Then we had the shrimp faro dish, baked cod dinner, and the pastrami sandwich. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals! It was fantastic service and presentation. We then decide to have some of the bread pudding, chocolate cake and hot fudge sundae. Silver Diner is where we sometimes go on Sundays. Usually, the best time to go is around 9 but definitely before 10. Local churches seem to get out around then and this place will pack out. We've had service that is hit or miss here, but it's usually great service. The food is great. The way that Silver Diner sources as many ingredients locally is awesome, and more restaurants should do this. You can go buck nasty here and get as much food as you want, so you end up feeling more like the cow that you just ate for breakfast, or they also have a "lighter" menu that will help you count calories. I like to stay in the middle usually. It's true that Silver Diner is a chain, but as with many chains, there is generally a passable standard of food quality that doesn't vary much. I don't feel disgusting after I walk out of here, and they serve beer and wine. Saweet! There might be better choices for diner food around the area, but this one works for me. read more

Oh Silver Diner you always have something for everyone. I've been going to this silver diner over a year and it never disappoints. The staff here is always very friendly. They check on you frequently but without being overbearing. There is a good amount of parking in the front and a large spillover parking lot behind the diner that is shared by the mall. Every time I come it's comfortably full inside nice never had a long wait if any regardless of the crowd or time that I come by. The food is always well prepared and a good temperature. All the ingredients are always very fresh. They seasonal updates are a nice addition and helps to keep the menu fresh and exciting. The menu sports classic comfort foods such as the Koch turkey platter and twists on comfort foods like the ridiculously hearty and flavorful homemade chicken pot pie. They also offer tuns of vegetarian and vegan options. Even the pickiest eater is likely to find an amazing meal at Silver Diner. The jukebox is probably one of my favorite features. Every table offers a real mini jukebox that controls the tunes in the whole restaurant. It offers classics from the past 6 or 7 decades at the low low price of a quarter. Anywhere I can play classic Jackson 5 and Backstreet Boys is fine by me. read more

They source from 15 local farms in PA, MD & VA, making this a place I am proud to support. As for this location in particular, I've had nothing but great experiences each time I've stopped in. Food has always been delicious, fresh & hot, but the customer service is what stands out the most. Our most recent was after a long day, everyone was hungry & attitudes spent. Our server, I sure wish I could recall his name, offered us patience, smiles & funny commentary. It really was much needed, even when we weren't laughing & mean mugging him. For me, the great service coupled with a hot, juicy hamburger & a side a sweet potatoes fries had me feeling much better & not like the monster I walked in as. Thank you for giving my a day a 180! Silver Diner can be hit or miss. Most times I really enjoy myself. On my most recent visit I sat at the bar and ate alone--this gave me a front row seat to the behind the scenes antics. Idk. They waitresses weren't very professional. One kept singing to the others. I sing to my friends as well, I've even done it at work, but never in the presence of clients. I got the chicken & waffles. I had to order it twice though. This was my fault--I didn't realize the waffle had nuts in it and I can't eat that. So the waitress ordered me another on the fly. The cooks do not take "on the fly" seriously at all. My food took quite a while to come out the second time. At least it was hot, but my chicken was so burned. I've gotten the chicken and waffles 2 or 3 other times and it wasn't burned those other times. I think the oil needed changing. Anyways, I have Silver Diner Greenbelt 4/5 stars. I love Silver Diner. Always good and a wide selection of food. Best part they have breakfast all day long! I came here on Sunday evening and almost every table was taken. We were seated right away. Our server was great and friendly. We ordered the lamb meatballs as a starter and that was delicious!! The rest of us ordered the Ruben, BBQ burger, and Maltese Turkey burger. Diner food like you have never seen before!! While driving back to NC we checked out the menu online and decided to stop here for lunch. Wow, the Brussels sprouts appetizer was delicious, the flavors of cinnamon, apricots, pecans, and cranberries made the dish! What a combination. The crab and corn chowder was delicious. The ancient grains shrimp bowl was refreshing, again the unique combination of flavors took the salad to another level! I can't wait to eat the leftovers tomorrow. Yesterday was my first time ever in a Silver Diner, it was 10am Saturday morning. The one I visited was in Greenbelt, Maryland. What a wonderful experience. I was attracted to the bright shiny steel front doors, with such a great '50s design and once you went through those doors you stepped back in time. The place is so wonderfully decorated with that retro feel of popping color and shiny steel accessories. I wanted a few of the light fixtures that hang above the table for my own kitchen. They are a cross between a schoolhouse pendant light and something George & Jane Jetson would own. The "atomic age" feel is resplendent. What I *really* loved is how clean the resto was. The place was packed, all tables were full. Yet there was no random food on the floor, our table was wiped completely clean as were the booth seats. That made me feel good about eating here. I'm a stickler for cleanliness. Onto the menu. Lots of menu choices and plenty of healthy choices. In fact, some of the entrees sounded so good but I passed by because they were made with egg-beaters instead of eggs or low fat sour cream or low fat/no fat cheese instead of the regular (fat) food item. I watch my fat and food intake, I don't need them to. So I wished there was a choice instead of the dish automatically being made this way. Still the selection of items is vast, and plenty of items for vegetarians, healthy eaters, and those wanting regular diner food. I did order the crabcake & sweet corn 3-egg omelette which came with a flaky sweet biscuit and home fried potatoes. The little biscuit was tasty.The potatoes were good, not great, but good. The omelette was DELICIOUS! Of course it was huge so I ate 2/3 of it as I couldn't finish the rest. The coffee was free-flowing, hot and good flavored. I really liked the little coffee cups too :) This Silver Diner is very well appointed. Quite a lovely place to be. And the staff is A1 super-friendly, courteous and they were happy. The hostess was friendly and speedy in taking our seating request. We had a short 10 minute wait. Our waitperson was Papa J (Jerry) who was so welcoming and warm you felt like you were a guest at his house. He was also very knowledgeable about the ingredients and origins of the various food being used to create the healthy, quality ingredient dishes at the Silver Diner. I was quite impressed with this diner. It is not your regular diner fare. This food is of higher quality and a lot less salty than other diner food I have eaten. I will go again. Silver Diner in Greenbelt, Md get's it right. When you go out to eat you want a good experience. I can make food at home so it's not just about the food.
