Walked in and seated pretty quickly, then sat for over 15 minutes without so much as a glance from a server. We got up and walked out (to go somewhere else) and 3 hostess watched us walk out, without a word! There were only 6-7 tables seated. Burtons Bar & Grill has a nice atmosphere, and the food presentation was appealing. I ordered the Classic Burger with fries. The burger was cooked well, the toppings were fresh, and the bun was soft. The fries were hot and crispy, which was a plus. Unfortunately, the burger itself was pretty average and lacked the bold flavor I was expecting, especially for the price. The cheese wasn't fully melted, and overall it just didn't stand out. The portion size was good, but I left feeling like it wasn't worth nearly $20 for a basic burger and fries. Service was fine, and the restaurant was clean, so I wouldn't rule out trying something else on the menu in the future. I'm from PG county but I just moved to Hyattsville about 2 months ago. My aunt wanted to take me out to dinner for my bday so I chose this place bc it was nearby and the menu looked good. We had the Cheesesteak Spring Rolls as an app, she had the Veggje burger w/fries which she really enjoyed and I had the Crab-Crusted Haddock mashed taters substituted for the rice. It was all delish and I'm happy I found a good spot to go eat in my new area cuz I'll def be frequenting this spot. They even brought me out a dessert for my bday and let me pick what I wanted off of the menu. We arrived at noon on a Sunday. Reservation not needed. The have plenty of indoor seating with some outdoor seatings. Our waitress Lia was amazing, full of energy, and attentive. We started with cream of crab soup - love! Followed by General Tao Cauliflowers with the sauce on the side. The Cauliflowers were perfectly fried and seasoned. The short ribs grilled cheese with truffle fries were definitely the comfort food I was looking for on this rainy day. We also got the General Tao chicken which unfortunately was not our favorites. Take me back lol It was so good!! I have to go back. Took my friend for her birthday and we had a good time. The wait was a little long -- about 30-45 minutes but I'd wait again. We started with the fire cracker shrimp. It came with cucumber slices marinated in vinegar and cilantro. So good! Would have taken this as an entree. And it's GLUTEN FREE! I got the classic burger with gluten free bun because I couldn't figure out what I wanted. But it was great. I had it with the lemon aioli (it's a lemon garlic aioli. Got the green beans on the side. The green beans were just okay. I will pick another side in the future. The kitchen was able to make a fried salmon burger for my friend with fries. She said it was amazing. It was a good portion. This is the first time I've been to this restaurant. I went there with two friends and we were greeted by the staff as we walked in. I can see that they were busy so we sat at the bar. Our drinks came promptly which was nice then we ordered our food. I ordered the harvest bowl, and my two friends got wings and the hamburger with Allen Brothers burger. We all were very pleased with what we ordered. My bowl was absolutely delicious, and I knew my friend's burger would be good because I have had Allen brothers steak and it's a melt in your mouth steak. I had a great first experience during their happy hour service at the Bar. The bartender, Mela (spell check) offered great service and friendly energy. We tried the bread service as a starter. I think the bread had a soft inside texture but too hard on the exterior. 5/10. We tried two of their bar bites: Sautéed shrimp (5/10) and General Tso Chicken Skewers (7/10). I think the shrimp sauce was bland and the chicken was a fried chicken tender + sauce. We had the Chicken Ceasar salad (8/10) and Braised Short ribs (8/10). The salad was a standard salad and the short ribs were tender. I enjoyed the short ribs with the mashed potatoes and substituted the brussel sprouts with broccoli. I absolutely love Burtons and absolutely love myself a good heartbowl, the Burton's Harvest Bowl to be exact. The bar is humongous and is always fun & jumping! During happy hour Mon - Fri from 3pm -7pm which features $6 drinks, $10 martinis and $7 bar bites so of course it can be hard to find a seat. I've had their Harvest Bowl too many times to count. It's super healthy with roasted butternut squash, brussels sprouts, veggies, goat cheese on top of broccoli rice & quinoa with your choice of protein. I have it with both blackened shrimp and chicken before and can't decide my favorite. The General Tso's Cauliflower and Firecracker Shrimp are awesome starters. Following the recommendation of the bartender Will, I decided to switch it up and go with the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. It's a hearty, well seasoned and straight up juicy sandwich. I'd say the apps aren't very shareable-for example one slider or a dip with only 4 breads seems bare to share with someone. However the bang bang broccoli is shareable and worth a try. I got the chicken risotto which doesn't look very appetizing, but it's very tasty and if you love garlic. This is the dish. Thoughts on the food? Well, the hash browns were on the cool side and a bit rubbery. Waffles...quite overcooked for my liking, a very deep golden brown and dry. Fortunately there was syrup on hand to rehydrate the waffles...holy cloy Batman...this is the absolute, without a doubt, sweetest syrup I've ever encountered. I've got a sweet tooth, but this stuff was over the top sweet. The chicken (fingers really) however had a very light breading and were cooked nicely. The chicken sandwich was good...it had ham and guacamole too. +1 on that. All this said, I'd go back. Is one of the few places that I would allow my wife to go back to over and over again as we like to try new things. The staff is friendly as well in every server we had was great. Tips 1. However ... the manager straight up LIED TO OUR FACES tonight when he said that it's a county law that restaurants cannot serve alcoholic beverages to people who are 21 years of age and older but have a vertical ID card. No sir. That is not a law. You absolutely can serve an alcoholic beverage to a person who is 21 years old or older who has a valid ID, vertical or otherwise. You choose not to. Do not tell me it's a County law. I am not a fool. I prefer not to be lied to. He was super attentive, made the best Arnold Palmers and always asked if his recommendations were good! & yes indeed they were. Also we ordered the firecracker shrimp, a side Caesear salad and the crab-crusted haddock with a side of rice and brussel sprouts. We asked for the brussels to be seared dark, and they weren't. Just overall were just average, even after request. Overall, my friend and I (party of 2) had a good time here. Upon coming again, I would order the shrimp and maybe sit at the bar instead. We went around happy hour and I think there is a different mood, a better one, in the restaurant once the blinds shut (the sun hits the building in a place where the blinds get shifted with the location of the sun). The upscale restaurant of the area. We went on a date on a Saturday evening and had been wanting to try this spot out. It did not disappoint. The place was very clean and there were plenty of lively customers. We came later in the evening so we didn't have to wait too long for a table but a reservation is recommended. The food was delicious. The jumbo firecracker shrimp was so well seasoned and even though you only get 5 pieces, they are pretty large. The crab soup was also pretty good although we felt it lacked in crab meat just a bit as we've had more at other restaurants. For the price we wish it came with a little more. The Crab Cakes were a little small but they were almost completely crab meat. There was very little filling. The crab crusted haddock was also very delicious and was cooked perfectly. The sides were not to die for but they were decent. The drinks also came out good and strong so they were worth the price. Overall, this place is somewhat expensive but the food is very good. I really enjoyed coming here, the drinks were amazing and I had a great time with my friends. I enjoyed the short rib grilled cheese, especially with the au jus on the side which carried a lot of flavor for the grilled cheese. We sat at the bar and the bartender was funny and really helpful with drink recommendations, and accommodating to all food allergies that we had. The side Caesar and spinach dip were ok, but I shared an order of the cheesesteak spring rolls and firecracker shrimp with my friends, and those were really good. If you decide to come, I would definitely say get one of those two. The music was nice and wasn't too loud at all so were able to hear each other while still being able to vibe to the music. College basketball was on so I could watch that but I also could clearly hear my friend in conversation which I appreciated. The server was friendly and attentive. It's disappointing that some of the items I was most excited to try they were out of. I went with steak frites instead, and it was good but I should've gotten the lobster roll instead! I tried a bite of my friends and that is fully the better dish. If you're in between, get the warm lobster roll for sure! The calamari was good! And the bread service was delicious.
