The wine at Silver Dollar is excellent! This was no "experience" though. We simply picked out wines and tasted them. No educational component whatsoever. We even had to ask for a list that described the wines but even then they didn't match what was on the tasting menu (names were different). The pours were off-- my friend's tastings were twice the amount of mine. The cheese board was a joke. Old cheese that was dried and crusty and some crackers. This place has lots of potential. Visited this place for the first time today (I have been meaning to since it opened!). I will be back when I'm not in a large group for certain. The atmosphere was great, the service and employees were better, and of course the wine was delicious. My friend and I sampled 5 wines for $10 and then bought a glass to enjoy. (I did buy a bottle of the cab to take home as well) Their food menu looked delicious but I already had dinner plans so I had to avoid that indulgence. I will be back to try another flight and the wine ice cream that other customers seemed to be raving over and some munchies for sure. read more

I came here on Casey's first Yelp party. I love this winery! Who knew Bedford could have something so cool? The winery is so adorable on the inside and is actually bigger than it looks from the outside. The atmosphere is very laid-back (as a wine bar should be) and cozy. Perfect spot for a date night or GNO. My favorite wine was the impeached wine named after Bill Clinton. It was sweet and fruity but not too sweet. I also liked the Bella Rose wine. So I love my home town. I do!! I really really do! I feel like we are the last little somewhat small town area left in the metroplex that isn't touristy (like Grapevine), so I LOVE when we get a cute quaint, mom and pop owned place. AND WHEN THAT PLACE IS WINE!? Holy woah, I am in HEAVEN YA'LL. Silver Dollar Winery sits right next to the Bedford School House and the old Bedford water-well. My pretend country girl, old fashioned heart loves everything about it! I have driven by Silver Dollar Winery several times, but just haven't had the chance to stop in yet. Its been around for several months now, and it is just the cutest thing ever. Its owned by Bedford residents Richard and Melanie, both of who I met yesterday. They're friendly and welcoming, just like their little wine bar. Cindy, another bartender who helped wait on me said several times "we're all family here", and that's really what they treated me like. There were a couple of regulars there, who the owners knew my name, a couple having a wine tasting and using a Groupon (I'm storing that knowledge away for a rainy day!), and myself. I had good conversation, good snacks and REALLY GOOD wine! There are cute little wine barrel tables, or a bar you can sit at, WiFi if you need to work and a little boutique through out the shop that sells wine goodies- toppers, aprons, cocktail napkins, cutting boards...cutesy things! You can order wine by the glass, or taste by the flight, or take home a bottle of your favorite. AND THEY SELL WINE ICE CREAM!!!! I didn't taste it, but I just feel with wine and ice cream you cant go wrong! They also have a selection of snacks, particularly homemade dips that Melanie makes herself. (I know because I asked!) Can we just talk about the Bacon Blue Cheese dip? A smooth, super hearty cream cheese dip with blue cheese crumbles and bacon bits, served with large dipping crackers, and garnished with a mixture of grapes. I didn't even need dinner! It was amazing. I had one glass of the Texas Legato Family Reunion... a Merlot, Malbec, Cab Sauv, Verdot, Sirah blend. Crazy huh? I went out on a limb there, thinking it might be a bit heavy for me. Went there with a groupon and had a cheese/meat platter, flight of wine and wine ice cream. I really liked the ambiance, having wine barrels serve as tables is a neat idea and the wine was good. The owners and server were nice as well. Certainly will be back for another flight of wines or just a glass of wine! Now, why didn't I give 5 stars... We tried the Riesling, sparkling and strawberry, spice and chocolate Cabernet ice cream. Spice and the strawberry ice cream were the best, but honestly none of them tasted like wine? Don't get me wrong, they tasted good but just expected more of a wine taste. The cheese/meat plate was also not what I expected. It mentioned Genoa salami, prosciutto, port cheese etc. and the meat and cheese were sliced ham,roast beef,pastrami,pepper jack, cheddar etc. similar to what you get at any supermarket deli. You can get these meats and more special cheeses even at Aldi for a fairly cheap, so I expected a bit more here. So next time, I'll just stick to the wine (which would be the primary reason for coming here anyway!). To the owners: Maybe consider offering complimentary crackers when tasting different wines to clean the palette :) read more

They have WINE ICE CREAM!!! The Port and Chocolate Cabernet were so delicious!! The Port is more like lavender, on the subtle side and chocolate is pretty self explanatory but it was one of my favorites. Terrible service. It took 45 minutes to have someone acknowledge my girlfriend and I, and another 30 minutes to get someone to take our order. The food was mediocre at best, the wine was not my vibe at all. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Ok usually our experience (my husband and I) is really great, great vibes, awesome customer service and great wine etc. Except just a moment ago. We walk in and immediately the vibe felt a lil off but seeing as we've always had a good experience coming here we both ignored it. We got to the counter and the young lady behind the counter with dye red hair asked for both of our ID cards now mind you we both have never been asked to show both of our IDs. The only time someone asked for identification is the first time we went to this place and even then they only asked for my identification card not my husbands. This time i did not have mine on me, so the lady hesitated to sell us the wine even though i walked in and asked for a specific wine and she replied with "the sweet red" and we agreed "yes that wine". Again we were there the night before buying the same wine we were trying to buy tonight. She made us feel Soo out of place, like we were some criminals. Not saying it was because of the color of our skin but that's exactly how she made us feel especially after me trying to explain what we saw in that establishment the night before and to top it off she tells us to wait a minute and bring this big guy wearing camo and he immediately gives us this "we aren't selling you anything and get out" stare even after i told him about the party that was there and him still not believing me he finally pointed out the lady who sold to me the night before and thank god she recognized us and agreed that we were there. I found this gem last May (2017) when I was preparing for a wine and cheese party. They are amazing! This place is great for dates, after work happy hours, or simply going solo to enjoy some wine. I love the decor. Most of the staff seem very knowledgeable about wine. I've never really been a sweet wine gal, but I do like theirs. "I'm Peached" is my favorite white and I believe it has won awards. My guy and I enjoyed a bottle of the "Dead Man's Malbec" last night and his first word was "smooth". It was really really good. Their Chocolate wine and "Calamity James's Busted Cherry" (port), are interesting and fun, though quite sweet. They make wonderful gifts. Which is why I'm here today. I'm picking up cases for client Christmas gifts. Definitely stop by for a wine tasting. Become a wine club member for phenomenal promotions, I did a year ago and its always a fun day during on the "Wine Pick up Party". We had four different flavors including red raspberry Chardonnay, sparkling strawberry, Cherry Merlot, and white peach Zinfandel. My friend and I went there last night. We've both been there before and each time we've had good experiences. The wine is really good and the good is good. I'd rather support small businesses and local wine over large restaurant chains. The only disappointing thing was they had live music which in this small of a place makes it hard to have a conversation, which is mainly why we wanted to meet and have a drink and dinner. The live music was actually not really live. There was a lot of pre- recorded tracks the band and singers were playing along with. We noticed the singers were not even keeping up with the track which was amusing. But all good fun for those who were enjoying an evening out. We wished we were able to talk more and yell less. We were at a nearby restaurant, Cafe Sicilia, and found that it was a BYOB type. A friend who had visited Silver Dollar Winery said lets go get some, only a short distance down the road. We immediately headed to the Winery. What I found there was a fantastic ambience and settings. We found round tables seated with two to four persons in a seating area. Our wait was limited as the friendly staff came to us at the counter and engaged with us as we defined our needs. We did not have much time there. I'm not a Karen that goes out of my way to leave negative reviews, but our visit was outstandingly disappointing that I felt like I had to. We did a wine tasting, the wine was good, however the service ruined the experience. We had to go up to the bar ourselves for each new tasting, which is fine, no complaints there. However, the employee was talking with a group of regulars for 5/10 minutes at a time with her back towards us, knowing that we were doing tastings which take a few minutes to complete. I was having to wait on her to return to the bar each time, having to keep an eye on her so I caught her at the right time; I was waiting on her vs her waiting on us. One time I was standing at the bar for our next tasting for a few minutes and she finally walked back to the bar and said "oh you scared me I didn't see you". At the end I felt like I should be tipped instead of her because I put so much effort into the wine tasting. You could tell there were regulars there that encompassed her attention and new customers were blown off. --After writing the first part of my review I wanted to add I saw another review that said something on the lines of "you have to be a wine club member to be treated well here". Our 4th visit.../Friendly, quaint place, thoroughly enjoyed the different Texas wines!!! my favorite bottle was the "Fight night" by legato. We loved the smoke Gouda dip and the meat and cheese trays... After some awesome wines we top it off with wine infused ice cream it's a must try and take a pint home with you. Such an exceptional winery. I've been to a lot of wineries, but this one exceeds all standards. The staff was friendly, engaging, and helpful and the wine was not only delicious, but also fairly priced. The ambience is relaxing and has a rustic charm. There was a wide selection of wines, meat/cheese treys, dips (the smoked Gouda and the raspberry chipotle dips were delicious) and not to mention the WINE INFUSED ICE CREAM!
