Surely this is a must if you're in town. It's a bit of a dive but that's to be expected/attractive in a town that is all about off-roading and sand dunes. They advertise all over the place about their wings, so we ordered some. Are they the best I've had? No. Are they good? Yes! The food is good. If not for other components, I'd give the food 5 stars. The complexity for a first time visitor is ordering. In our current Covid-19 everyone has different rules or procedures. As we walked in, we were greeted and then told order at the counter or a order station. We were a group of 5, we wanted to look at a menu. So we went a little deeper and figured out were that was posted (not near the order kiosk). There were plenty of picnic tables around for seating. And I watched a young man wipe tables pretty quickly as people got up. (Great job!). As our order was ready, it was all in foam boxes and then bagged in plastic. This is lowering my rating a bit. The waste seems extreme on this. Not sure if we missed a "to go or eating in" option on the order board? It was the first day to be open for the season. I placed an order on line (very easy to do). It was ready in less than thirty minutes. The wings are delicious with out any sauces but the sauces are good too. I had mild and Partner had hot. Dipping sauces were blue cheese and ranch. They were commercial but good quality. Coleslaw was vinegar and slightly sweet style. And the beans were delicious. There were two types of beans in the serving for variety and it was flavorful but not too sweet. read more

Stopped here for a quick dinner tonight with 4 adults and 7 kiddos under 10. It is a perfect location for kids. Open air seating, place for the kids to run around, live music, a pond that you can feed fish at and casual atmosphere. They advertise the best wings around. I think they are good but I'm not dying to go back. The meat falls of the bone and is very tender. I wish you had the option of getting your wings tossed in a dipping sauce instead of just dipping it in various dips. My husband said the pulled pork sandwich was decent. We came to chicken shack because of all the help reviews. That being said we were disappointed in the chicken wings. They were very dry and the seasoning was ok not amazing. We also had fries that had a great seasoning to them as well as hot dog, chips and beer. The tan line beer by Ludington was perfect on this warm day. The food is served on styrofoam containers. Yep.. the chicken is very good. The chicken wings are good too and need no sauce but u can sauce if u want. You get good chicken at the Chicken Shack. All these high reviews are well deserved not just for food but staff were very nice for as busy as they were and the place was very clean. Someone wrote a bad comment that they had no boneless wings and I like boneless too... but I am concerned that anyone would remotely expect boneless wings off a chicken at a place that is cooking whole chickens. We went because of the reviews. Also saw the place each time we visited. The wings were tasty, but not as juicy as I had hoped. Good flavor, just a little dry. We also got the half chicken meal and it was dry. They offered soft drinks, beer and a local Michigan Root Beer that my son enjoyed. The sauces are on the side and I liked it that way . My son, who puts barbecue on everything, actually enjoyed the wings without it, which is a first. Friendly service that was quick considering we ordered 24 wings and a Half chicken dinner. We also got the baked beans and potatoes salad which that was good but I prefer more of a savory potato salad this was sweet.
