The sign at the front desk says that if you stay three or more nights, you get room service. As I mentioned, we stayed three nights. When we went to the front desk to request clean towels and garbage service, she looked up our room number and informed us that we have to stay four nights in order to receive those services. It seems like she was intentionally choosing not to help us. We ended up taking out our own garbage, buying toilet paper at the store next-door and carrying our own linens back up to the room so that we had fresh supplies. On the morning of checkout, we left our room at 7 o'clock to go next-door for breakfast. When we returned at 8:15, our keys had been disabled and we were unable to enter into our room. Checkout time is 10 o'clock so I'm unsure why they chose to disable our keys so early in the morning. Again, we went downstairs and had to deal with the old lady up front. She did not seem interested in helping, but grudgingly gave us keys so that we could get back into our room until checkout time. It's unfortunate that such a beautiful property is being micromanaged by someone like the person at the front desk. Such potential being wasted on horrible employees. We will not be back.

For one night, it served its purpose perfectly well. But honestly, if we had stayed longer, I probably would have agreed more strongly with many of the other reviews. The rooms definitely feel dark, outdated, and a little dingy. Not terrible, but very much the kind of place where you say, "Well... at least we are only here one night." The biggest frustration was the reservation situation. At check-in, we were told we had booked the wrong date, even though our confirmation through Booking.com clearly showed the correct reservation date. We ended up being charged, and now we have to sort it out afterward through Booking.com, which is frustrating because based on other reviews mentioning similar issues, it honestly seemed more like a property-side problem than ours. Now for the surprisingly good part: the little café upstairs, which I believe may be associated with the lodge. That place was actually really enjoyable. Great views, a lovely outdoor yard area to sit and eat, and genuinely good food with huge portions. And when I say huge, I mean the burrito could probably qualify as emergency wilderness survival equipment. If you order it, prepare yourself. That thing could easily feed four people, no exaggeration. We may still be digesting it somewhere between Mono Lake and Death Valley. Overall, this is not a luxury stay by any means, but as a practical overnight stop near Mono Lake, it worked well enough. Just double-check your reservation details carefully and maybe arrive with realistic expectations about the rooms. Oh! And bring your own soap, they have this little quarter size soaps who are you kidding? My hands were laughing.

It took a lot in me to not snap back at her. Also, she immediately dismissed my cousin's question on if they had a restroom & directed him "OUT THE DOOR 50 YARDS DOWN". She could have simply let us know that they only allow the white customers to use restroom inside, instead of telling us that they didn't have one. As we waited for our food, I watched a white customer head past a blue draw curtain that lead to the restroom. Lastly, my daughter watched the man in the kitchen drop a cooking ladle, pick it back up, & put it back into the pot on the stove. He threw a towel down to the floor from the counter, nudged it around with his foot to wipe the spill before he tossed it back onto the counter. He then used that same bare hand to grab my son's hotdog off the flattop to place it in the bun. We did not eat the hotdog but we also didn't waste our time confronting the matter when it happened. I'm so disappointed in this place. It's disgusting.

I'm kind of a…read morecampground snob, meaning I like to scope out all the sites & pick the one that is most secluded, shaded, near a water source & bathroom, but not too close. Unfortunately due to a last minute change of plans I didn't have a choice as this was the only campsite available within 50 miles or so. It turns out, most of the sites in this little campground here are very nice & only a few are undesirable (exposed, near the road, very little room for a tent, etc.). Honeymoon Flat is one of many campgrounds on Twin Lakes Road just a few miles from Bridgeport. If you have never been to this part of California...GO. It is just gorgeous with the expansive green, grassy valley that runs right into the massive Sierra Nevada mountain range. It is really breathtakingly beautiful. We scoped out a few other campgrounds on Twin Lakes Road & Honeymoon Flat is one of the best. It is small (only 28 sites) and right next to Robinson Creek. Many of the sites are right on the creek & you can fall asleep to the sound of rushing water. The bear bins, fire pits, BBQ's, & picnic tables were all brand new. Such a clean campground! The only downside are the bathrooms (pit toilets). They were clean enough but full of flies. Not much you can do about that. I scoped out the best sites for next time...3, 5, 10, & 11. They are all on the river & very secluded. Don't miss the nearby hot springs, Bodie, Mono Lake & hiking in the Hoover wilderness!

It…read morewas the perfect base to get to everything between Bridgeport and Lee Vining, including Mono Lake, Twin Lakes, and Bodie. Between the Lower and Upper grounds, there are plenty of neat, well-maintained campgrounds available for reservation and for walk-on. It's $20/per night for a site, which gets you one parking spot, one square sand lot for your tent, a picnic table, fire pit, and some sort of metal tray thing. The vault bathrooms are kept clean and stocked (albeit stinky, but what can you expect from a hole in the ground), and the drinking fountain is really a faucet outside where you can go about your abbreviated cleansing rituals. I would recommend getting a site near the creek as some other reviewers suggested as the gurgling helps mitigate the sound of RVs rolling by on the crunchy gravel. The host makes his rounds throughout the day to check on all the campers. Ours was super friendly and we asked him for directions and bear sightings (there was one the first night). Our second night, a small mob of six deer was watching the grounds intently probably on the same mission as the bear. The campground is surrounded by hills and mountains so it gets REALLY cold at night, with quite a bit of condensation collecting on our tent. Mornings were on the other end of the spectrum, the heat and light making it impossible to sleep for long (unless you're like my boyfriend who could sleep all day). The sandy ground makes for a much better sleeping experience, but we both highly recommend getting inflatable sleeping pads to make it even better!

Also, $40 per night to camp if you have two cars.
