Truly nothing like this place - at least in Boston there are not many stores like this one. I'm talking floor to ceiling coverage of vintage toys, old school gadgets and board games, $2 magazines, action figures, legos, magazines, comic books, Halloween masks, furniture, the list goes on. This store feels like a thrift shop since you can buy things like a Pizza Hut x Care Bears (way cool) promo glass from 1984 so it was clearly once someone else's, or you can buy a used my little pony play set with the horses unboxed, etc. Definitely worth it to come and browse around. Nice comic and game store. Been here for some events that are generally nice. Saturday commander was disappointing because the store manager has a lot of rules, including kicking everyone out after 2 hours sharp--that meant my pod couldn't even finish one game. On the other hand Monday night tavern draft was fun, and went really late into the night. Good selection of stuff and a nice ambiance. read more

As a longtime customer who has spent $600-700 here over the years, I was disappointed during my recent visit when I wasn't allowed to spend time reading through $90 worth of books I planned to purchase prior to reading them at the store. Local comic stores compete with sites like Amazon by offering a superior shopping experience and community atmosphere. When that experience falls short, it really undermines the value of shopping locally versus online retailers with lower prices. I've always enjoyed supporting this business, but this negative interaction has me reconsidering where I shop. Hoping they can improve their customer service approach. read more

Collectors paradise right in Davis Square--there's really something for everyone here. They have comics, funkos, retro toys, and more. I even saw they even host games towards the back of the store which is really cool. The people working there are super friendly and helpful too. Check this place out! read more

Review for Warhammer enthusiasts and comparisons to other 3rd party indie Warhammer shops: The store is fun to visit, the selection looks really good in terms of comics and figures. The manga selection is also modest is respectable. The employee themselves are always nice and helpful. My only gripes with the store, and why I rated 3 stars, is because of the selection and value for the tabletop hobby; specifically for any of the Warhammer items. So far, this is the first and only indie 3rd party distributor that I've been to across three different States where they charge full pricing for Warhammer items; often times even higher than retail. Typically, indie stores are provided more leeway to charge less (usually 15% less) for Warhammer items as they are not bound to Games Workshop's pricing model. The problem with this pricing model is that there's absolutely zero benefit to buying from an indie shop. Why pay full price for Warhammer here when I can pay full price at an official store and earn exclusive miniatures, coins, booklets, and other merch? The advantage of Warhammer indie shops are two main things: 1. Lower prices and 2. More leniency on rules for gaming. This shop fails to address both. Additionally, the selection for Warhammer is also a bit lacking. Many of their items are still 9th or 8th edition models and the selection doesn't seem to expand beyond that. The store doesn't seem to keep in stock newer or pre-order items. Lastly, it doesn't seem like this shop has a play area for tabletop gaming. Unfortunately, the better alternative for Warhammer fans is the official store located in Brookline, MA. read more

I have to be really honest comicazi is without a doubt one of the best places to be at especially if you're into old, classic and retro some stuff they got so many from 80s, 90s, 2000s and even a few modern stuff comics, action figures and even DVDs this place is just wonderful I just love it a lot with a passion the most amazing comic book store indeed I have gotten a lot of stuff from here mostly action figures although some stuff are very and expensive some stuff I understand but a few others not too much but that's just me overall an awesome comic book shop for all your classic and retro stuff definitely a must go if you get the time. read more

You will be completely blown away by the selection here. They have a large selection of comics, but their toy selection is absolutely unparalleled in the area (if I am even close to wrong, please contact me, because I want to shop anywhere that even comes close to being Comicazi's equal in that regard.) I'm hoping my experiences are more of a fluke than the rule, but a friend of mine and I used to make trips here every few months with his son, and we always felt that the employees were more or less acting like we were not in the cool kid's club when we interacted with them. They were not outright rude, but more short and dismissive with us, and in one instance maybe a little sarcastic, though to be honest, it's also possible I took things the wrong way in that instance. The biggest problem we had was when my friend's four year old son remarked that he really had to pee. My friend asked one of the employees if his son could use their bathroom and they declined the request. I tend to think that you make exceptions to the employees only bathroom rules for kids that young, but that's honestly their prerogative not to. The thing that really turned me off was how dismissive and short the employee was with my friend and his son. There was no hint of empathy for the situation at all, no explanation of anything that might suggest they gave the slightest shit about the situation, just "there's a Starbucks down the street" and turning their back on him. Now I dunno, maybe it was just bad luck whenever we went. To be fair, this all happened close to 2 years ago, so maybe things have changed since then, too. We stopped going after that because there were just better places to go buy toys and comics with his son, where we were made to feel more welcome. I don't want to say I will never come back, because as I said, the employees there were not downright awful or anything, and the selection is absolutely amazing. But that being said, it's been close to 2 years, and I haven't been back, so I also can't exactly claim I'm in a rush to return the way I can about places like That's Entertainment. read more

Love this place! I'm not a comic book guy so this won't be about the number or quality of comic books. Although I did find G.I. Joe comics on my last visit. Since I have two young boys, one day we popped our heads in because of the advertised toys on tables outside. We gravitated to the number of classic Star Wars toys as well as many other toys from the 1980s and beyond. The staff is friendly, kind and helpful if you have any questions. I've been dying to check this place out for some time and finally found time to this week. While I was thoroughly impressed with the comic and toy selection, I seriously doubt I'll be going back on account of the staff. What caught my eye today was a table outside the store with a large $0.50 sign. This table had about six baskets of different little used toys. One of these baskets was old pez dispensers. After picking out a few things from the clearly labeled 50 cent table I took a look at the other outdoors table (not listed as $0.50 but just individually labeled) and found a neat superhero themed bottle stopper (like for wine and whatnot) I went inside with my selection and ended up just having a bad time. When I got to the counter the clerk was looking over magic cards and didn't really greet me. I kind of just stood there for a minute. Eventually I'm rung up and I notice I'm being charged $2 for each of the items from the $0.50 table. I politely asked about the difference and was shown a little $1.99 price tag on the bottom of the pez dispensers. I felt bad but pointed out that these were on the table that was clearly labeled $0.50. The guy just kind of looked at me like it should have been obvious that they weren't. He mentions this to a coworker who says that's wrong, telling me another customer must have put these three pez dispensers I wanted on that table. I politely informed them that no, there was a clearly organized bin made entirely of pez dispensers front and center on the $0.50 table. Already I'm feeling tension because these employees stated, not insinuated, that I was in the wrong. Not a great feeling for a first time customer. I honestly would have paid $2 an item, I didn't really care, I just mentioned it because the advertising was clear. While we're figuring out the pez dispensers price I get rung up for the bottle stopper and realize it appears broken. I ask the employee "is that a piece that separates or is it broken?" To which the employee stated "just use superglue". Sure, I might do just that, but to act like that's a solution when I'm simply inquiring about a trinket you're selling feels bizarre. I finally go to pay and am pointed to a sign that says no credit cards allowed. That's fine, but I was reprimanded for offering a card before I noticed. I had to run to an atm to come back to my broken items, and bizarrely guilted because I pointed out a sign that listed items at a certain price. I'm not coming back here and that sucks because the inventory is really good. I love comic people - I can't stand those who choose to be openly hostile to customers. Best of luck. read more

I've been a regular at this place for a while and believe me when I say this review is long overdue. This is a freakin' HAVEN for fans of old school anime, manga, kaiju series, Gundam, etc. They have a huge selection of vintage, nostalgia-inducing toys in display cases and they're priced extremely reasonably. They have a variety of comics, cards, 90s keychains, a gaming area, old alien merchandise... basically this place has everything. Every time I drop in I find a piece of my childhood to take with me or I discover something new... or I just wanna grab a new Zaku to add to my collection. The people are friendly, knowledgeable and always welcoming. Can't say enough great things about this place - hope they stay open til the end of time. read more

This is what a comic shop should be, not the sanitized Newbury Comics mall stores that carry all merchandise you can buy in Spencer's and only a very small section dedicated to comics. Here you will see endless walls of figures, both new and pre-owned to sort through. If I had more time to browse I'm sure I would have found a hidden treasure somewhere. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, and I just really dug the vibe of the place. I will return when I have more time to explore. read more

This was my go-to shop for comics and games for years. As my two young daughters came of age, we would love to all go down to Davis for an afternoon of comic shopping followed by lunch and bubble tea at one of the many cafes and restaurants surrounding the store. Staff are friendly and helpful, and great at suggesting new subscriptions based on previous orders. We moved away which is the only reason I still don't go here on a weekly basis, but any time I'm back in Cambridge I always make it a point to make a stop here. read more

First things first, I am not a comic book kind of person. I have no idea about comic books. I have no idea about most of the games at Comicazi. But, what I do know is great customer service and Comicazi has it. I was doing some Christmas shopping about a week before Christmas, I am a fan of Davis Square and love to support local businesses. I decided to check out Comicazi since my fiance has a penchant for stuff that I thought Comicazi would sell. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the store on a Friday night and was helped out by the owner, Mike, and showed various T-shirts. I was looking for a specific one and I actually was able to find it in my size, which is always nice. Then I looked at a few more T-shirts and bought my fiance a cool "Winter is Coming" T-shirt since A.) Winter was coming and B.) it was from Game of Thrones - a tv show that he is obsessed with. There was a dog in the store too, and I am usually afraid of dogs but this dog was friendly. The prices seem fair here and I can't say enough about the strong level of customer service. One important thing I cannot dismiss....they have a life size statue of E.T. -- as in E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. I saw this move in 1982 in the movie theatre with my parents and I think my baby sister. I was four, I was HORRIFIED watching that movie and to this day I cannot look at that creature. I even called my fiance when I was in the store to tell him that I was going to cry/scream/run outside and have my first ever panic attack! But. I kept it together. I even had Mike take a picture of me with my phone so I had photographic evidence that I saw E.T. and have a picture of me and E.T. to prove it. I think Mike may have thought I was crazy. Boston is pretty spoiled for decent comic book stores, but this one is my favorite to peruse. The selection of comics is absolutely stellar, and whether you want the latest and greatest, obscure back issues, or something you've never heard of before, they've got it here. The staff is super helpful and friendly, and they're running events all the time. They clearly love what they do! The big draw for me here is the walls and walls of toys in the back - while I can't say I've ever bought any of them, browsing them and seeing toys from my own youth, my dad's generation, or more recent ones is always a great time. There's even a recent addition with more figures and classic comics on display, and that feels as much like a comic book store as it does like a museum. On top of all of this, they even have a decent selection of boardgames, RPG books, and Warhammer models. I wish they had the tables/terrain to actually play Warhammer in the back, but I'm coming there to buy comics, the occasional gaming thing, and to peruse all the cool stuff on display, not play games. Comicazi is a highlight of Davis Square, and I make a point to visit it as often as I can. read more

Such was their skill at stocking and slinging transforming-robots that I was soon all-too-frequently checking in to meet their new arrivals and get my latest fix. Soon too, I came to know their super-friendly staff. David, Comicazi-Mike, Bob... and the nice girl with the dyed-hair (sorry, I am blanking on her name) are all good folks through-and-through, each with their own speciality. Comicazi has long been a fixture in the Davis Square area and it's clear that they care about their customers and the community, organizing events and get-togethers, reaching out in a true comics/toys/games trifecta. read more

While I know little of what makes the difference between a good comic book store and a bad comic book store, Jesse assures me that this is indeed a good one. We stopped in here a few weeks ago before seeing a movie, and Jesse was content. The selection was good (I was told), they had a good number of action figures, and there was certainly a lot to look at-lots of kitch. As a pure comics shop, these guys are great. They'll give you a deal on your subs and they get to know you when you come in. Disclaimer: I just opened Hub Comics in Union Square, Somerville. But this was my main shop for a while. They have an AMAZING selection of action figures here. If you're looking for toys, you need to go to Comicazi. They have all the requisite trades in stock, and their new-issue stock is strong. Mike and the bunch there are great guys, and have strong opinions on comics. Check out their podcast if you want to see what I mean! They hold various events periodically, like costume contests and raffles. Parking is a bit of a hassle during the day and weekends, but they're in Davis Square, so there's no good excuse to drive. All major forms of public transit are available. The only problems: - In their new location, they don't have well organized back issues: just the dollar bin and 50%-off trades. There is lots of great stuff to be found there, but you have to dig a little, since they're in no particular order. This may be remedied eventually, as they supposedly have more room in the back of the store to open up into when the landlord gives them the OK. - I never liked the store attitude of "the bad kids." They have signs that say "Buy some f@%^&ing gift certificates!", for example. The guys are nice enough when you get to know them, but I get the feeling that I'm not their target audience. All in all, though, a solid comic shop, and the best place in town to buy action figures! read more

I always leave Comicazi happy, even if I don't end up buying anything. The main reason for that is how out-of-this-world awesome the staff is. The first time I went to Comicazi was the weekend right after the Boston Comic Con. I'd read a grand total of four trade paperbacks when I stopped by, so I really had no idea what I liked or what I might even be looking for (other than some rad t-shirts, of which they have many). Bob and Dave were both there that day, and each of them spent a TON of time talking to me about where to start. Their enthusiasm was completely infectious; I left that place crazy-stoked to start reading. I especially liked that neither of them was just trying to push me to make a purchase. It really seemed like they were most interested in helping me find something that I would truly enjoy -- they encouraged me to sit down and read for a bit before I bought anything. Beyond the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, the shop is just cool. Even if you have no interest at all in comic books, I promise that you will find something that catches your eye. They have all kinds of toys and action figures, and a decent selection of tv/movie merch. Definitely worth a visit. Or ten. read more

Up here in Somerville for the weekend from NYC, who knew I'd find the such a killer shop with the amazing combination of a great comic book/manga collection, awesome variety of board games, vintage and new figurines, and tons of stuff for your CCG needs? Comicazi has all of the above, with some really cool and friendly dudes to help you out. Looking for a back issue of a comic? Just leave the name and issue number with them and they'll order it for you! These guys are knowledgeable and the prices are decent. You'll find some deals here, whether it be $5 comic book bundles, $10 figurines, or $1 Heroclix.. that no one actually uses to play Heroclix, but as figures for D&D. My friends and I spent quite the while sifting through those boxes. The board game selection is pretty great, too. There are some classic games for the casual gamer, as well as more intense/rule-heavy ones for those who like Arkham Horror/Mansions of Madness. Other miscellaneous stuff they carry include t-shirts, magnets, pins, boxes of loose matchbox cars for .50, and more. This place is definitely a must-see in the area, and a definite pit-stop any time I come up here again. read more

I was at this store twice this week. But I don't want anyone reading this to think I am biased. I have been to all manner of comic book stores in the New England area, and having that much experience I feel very comfortable endorsing this shop above many others I've been to. When one walks into Comicazi, at first glance it looks kind of like a book shop. But it is so much more. Turn the corner and you will see all sorts of loose toys in the window. They have a nice selection of board games, and as you move further into the shop there are many shelves of comic books. The sections of comics are separated by small display cases of toys as well, allusions to what you'll see if you head straight down the back. The back of the store is home to thousands of action figures. If you need a particular figure for your collection, odds are that you could find it here. Star Trek, Star Wars, Walking Dead, Marvel, DC, different movies that had figures made for them over the years.... They just have so many it's staggering, and even more so when you see they're piled to the ceiling. I have bought three figures here now during my two visits. The prices are very reasonable. I actually asked the owner if one of the more expensive figures could be discounted at all. He said no initially. BUT when he realized he did not have a bag big enough to hold it, he did take 10 dollars off the price. Which was very nice of him. Comicazi is your friendly neighborhood comic store, and if you live within 20 miles it's definitely worth the drive. It is one of the best comic shops that the Boston area has to offer. read more

Awesome comics and collectibles shop! The dudes that work there rock and did you know they put on local comedy a couple times a month? This place has everything you could want in nerdom. TARDIS mugs? Check. Peewee Herman figurines? Check. Abstract indie comics and local zines? Check. Their bathroom has a Green Lantern toilet seat cover and a creepy yoda poster. It adds character.
