Before the alerts and sirens, we were shopping. We went into the HIC store - we love this nastalgic brand and made a point to stop in. This location had such a fun vibe and so much to choose from for the whole family. Here is where we met Merv! He was super nice and helpful with things we were intersed in purchasing. We left happy with our items. Shortly after realizing these alerts were to take serious and we would need to get to higher ground, we headed for our transportation, which was the bus. The bus wasn't coming anytime soon and we knew we were far from our hotel. Something told us to rush back to Merv! Thank goodness we did, he and Hunter graciously let us hitch a ride into their town Mililani, where we would be safer while we waited things out. Merv's kindness just continued and he and his family gave us shelter into their welcoming home! They showed us Angelenos what the Aloha spirit is. If you are on Oahu visiting, go to the HIC store in Haleiwa and you just might meet a real life hero - Merv!

Though no guava is found here like the fruit some of the items are found here in Hawai'i as this Hale'iwa Store Lots shop is filled with various cute items for women it's a great place to find items to gift or to add to your wants. Browsing around I enjoyed the various items the carry from beachwear and accessories to jewelry and various totes and even a fun puzzle postcard sharing the aloha spirit is very fun and unique here along with shirts with the local fun sayings had me smiling with a fun way to express your vibe for the day. The service here seems very friendly as she was very into the conversation with a guest that went on and on is great as I was busy browsing some of the items was quite pricey though do carry some unique items but it was a nice and comfortable place to shop. I shop there regularly, and even if I don't need anything, I always pop in when I'm in the area because there's usually something new. The girls there are always so friendly -- and it's consistent. Every single time. The store is impeccably clean, easy to shop, and their clothing fits my vibe 100%. I always leave feeling good about what I bought (or at least inspired). Such a great local shop in the Matsumoto's shopping center. If you appreciate well-made pieces, good energy, and supporting North Shore businesses, Mahina is a must. They do have other stores across the island but not only is this one close to me on the North Shore, it's a vibe also sets it apart. Oh! Now that I know what it's really all about, you have to appreciate both the clothing and the mission. :) Although I wish they had a few more styles, colors, and/or clothing options, I am not complaining. I bought a great shirt that fits well with a simple but tasteful Hawaiian design on it. My wife purchased a tank top that she really likes, too. The store, which is fairly small, nonetheless has two fitting rooms so that you can try things on. The staff was friendly enough, and the products are neat and well organized. Pricing isn't cheap, but it's not higher than you would expect either. Many of the T-shirts are marked as fitted shirts, but to me they are normal. I don't fit into fitted shirts too well, and even after a wash, the shirt fits perfectly fine, so you are unlikely to have to size up. If you're in the area and are on board with the mission and message, you'd be remiss not to stop in!

Has…read moreme quite sad to know that I remember many of the logos and biz that used to use them and for some biz that used to be around that time and era is not called vintage...sigh! Not quite sure why it's called Malibu Shirts as is located in Haleiwa Store Lots right up North Shore and is filled with all things Hawai'i from the Elvis Blue Hawaii and Pan Am days to some more familiar places like Rainbow Drive Inn and doesn't stop with the incredible choices of shirts but mugs, totes and many other fun accessories as well. Walking in I did love the vibe of the shop as the decor includes lining the shop with grass hut look and surfboards hanging up the industrial ceiling but this cute and organized shop was fun to browse around the various designs to remember what was and made Hawai'i what it currently is now. The style and design wasn't what I was looking for. The greatest thing of all is that shipping is $10 on their website! That's not bad! Pakaloha Bikinis has a variety of styles, colors, sizes for tops and bottoms. Try it all to find what you're most comfortable in. You'll look great in all of the styles. IMO The bikinis are very flattering to your body. The tops are on one side and bottoms on the other. If you're not sure, just ask. The staff are very helpful. In the dressing room, there's a QR code to accumulate points to get $$ off the next purchase. It's simple, quick, and FREE! I'm so glad that I came to Haleiwa to find Pakaloha. I didn't know the other location closed down. I'm sad to hear that one of my favorite bottoms will be retiring, but I'm looking forward to what Pakaloha has in store for the future!
