Another local casino. It isn't the glamorous kind. Silver Nugget is a popular place for people living in North Las Vegas. Much different than other places to gamble. This actually closes at night and isn't always open. It isn't a very classy looking casino. It's at the end of a strip mall. There's no hotel attached to it so it's just a place to hang out. A major difference is their operating hours. This casino is actually closed sometimes. It closes at about 11 at night. This is about the only casino in the Valley that isn't always open. It kind of has a bad smell inside. Typical chain smoking. Besides that it's not that bad. They have cheap food if you're hungry enough to get it. Fun times in the bowling alley. It's family fun. Back in the early 90s I was a regular at this place and its sister property, the Opera House Casino just a little further up the strip. The Opera House was my favorite of the two properties. It was super small. But what it lacked in size, it made up for in filth, grime and smoke. It was the casino from hell: the dirtiest, most disgusting low-life casino in Las Vegas and, God help me, I loved it. There were maybe 100 slot machines, tops, and only 2 or 3 blackjack tables. I never saw more than one blackjack table operating at a time. The felt on the tables was so stained you could just barely discern it had once been green. For years the websites of both casinos had a button you could click to become an "email friend." If you signed up they gave you $20 worth of promo chips when you visited the casino. It probably was intended to be one-time offer, but the website designer messed up. You could sign up as often as you wanted. I signed up before every visit, and got $20 worth of free gambling action from both casinos each time. At the Opera House they made you gamble the chips. At the Silver Nugget they let me take them to the cage and collect a $20 bill. One afternoon at the Opera House I ran into a blatantly corrupt blackjack dealer. He must have been pissed off at the house because he was paying off losing hands. I hit on a 16 and drew a ten. He paid me. I was like, uh, what just happened? Then a few hands later, he did it again. I was betting the minimum, $2 a hand. I busted, he paid me $2. So, I think, hmmm, maybe I should tip this guy. He didn't pay all my losing hands, but often enough to keep me going and keep his tips coming in. By the time I finished playing out my $20 worth of promo chips I was up $30, even after toking the crooked dealer. This visit, I was already staying in North Las Vegas, so I decided to visit my old haunts. I drove up the Strip, past Jerry's Nugget. Past this place, the Silver Nugget. Just a little further to the Opera House. But it ain't there. They tore the son of a bitch down! There is no more Opera House. Nooooooo! Not the Opera House! So, I backtrack to the Silver Nugget. I pull in to the parking lot and do a search to find out what the hell happened. I find nothing. So, I search the Silver Nugget site to see if it has any information. Immediately its obvious the casino is under different management. This isn't Mahoney's anymore. I check the Yelp reviews for the place and I read the stories about the rampant bed bugs and other problems plaguing the place. Well, whatever, I'll pop in and size the place up myself. As I climb out of the car I'm aware of a loud and intense argument going on about fifty yards away. F-bombs are raining down and the storm is moving to my left. I bear right and skirt the edge of the system and make my way into the casino. Inside is almost as crazy as outside. There are nearly as many security people as patrons. Good thing, too, because they had their hands full. I saw three separate heated arguments inside. I spotted a machine I like to play. It's called Hexbreaker. It has a Black Cat theme. Minimum bet is 13 cents. It's tag line is "Change Your Luck." I put in $7. A couple spins later I'm up a couple bucks. Right as I was pressing the button to cash out, a hooker comes and sits next to me. For some reason, I am like candy to them. She wasn't the least bit subtle. In one quick motion I stood up, pulled the ticket for a cool $9.32 out of the machine and turned to walk away. As I stood up I noticed her pimp a few yards away sizing me up. OK, Silver Nugget, that's it for me. I spot a ticket changer and cash in. For me, the Silver Nugget is beyond the Pale. Why bother with this noise when Jerry's Nugget is so close by? First of all, The "concert" hall is so small... I bought the tickets to the event for ALEGRES DEL BARRANCO, MAXIMO GRADO Y MAS! It said on the ticket that they would open at 7pm.. I got there at 7:30ish and kid you not, they didn't let us in into like 9pm!!! I found out the NEXT DAY from another source online that apparently the concert was going to start at 9pm. When I bought the ticket it said at 7PM!!!! if I would OF had the CORRECT info when I bought the ticket, it wouldn't have been an issue. I show the ticket staff my ticket through my phone and they couldn't scan it!! Here they were making me wait longer till they can scan my ticket barcode online. After 10min with NO LUCK, the staff just said to go head bcz people were passing me while Here I was waiting for the staff to scan my code! I was so mad bcz I waited so much in line for others behind me to just pass me like nothing just because the staff couldn't do their job(i dont blame the security staff tho, they did what they could. And i appreciate they kept everyth under control). Anways while inside, we thought the show was gonna start, NOPE. THEY PLAYED DJ MUSIC FOR ANOTHER 2 HRS. Recently came to the silver nugget event center for a concert and fair event with Banda Los RecoditioTo start the parking lot is tiny so as soon as I arrived I noticed a lot of people dress up ( like they were going to the event ) crossing the street from the other side where the theater is. Well I ended up having to park at the theater and cross the street also this casino and event center do not have enough space to accommodate events like this. Once finally getting over there was two lines to be able to "show" your tickets get id'd and head into the event. Well both were pretty long but the one that was going thru the event center did seem a bit short so my friends and I went to that one. Well security is so short staff and unorganized people were cutting the line and this wasn't just one person cutting it was groups of 4-6 so seemed like our line wasn't moving. They people started tipping to be let in first so even slower checking those people while were waiting. Under staffed to the point people started sneaking in and security didn't notice and even if they did it was to late people got in. Well maybe 3 hours later finally got into the event and it was okay .Events like this definitely need to be more staffed or just don't open this event for so many people ,to many fights and it was supposed to be a family friendly event. I went to the silver nugget casino for the first time today. I visited the Wrangler Grill and it was HORRIBLE!!!! If I could give it a -5(negative 5 stars if I could) stars I would. There were tables that were not cleared for over 45 minutes, my waitress was friendly but it took 25 minutes to get my beverages. They had 1 hostess, 2 waitresses and no bus person. My family and I went to the Swapmeet in North Las Vegas and decided to try the prime rib at the Silver Nugget. This was at 1:31 pm on a Sunday. The hostess said we could sit any where. The restaurant was not busy maybe 6 tables. I waited for a server but no one came to our table. They walked past us but no service. I waited for 10 minutes than went back to the cashier and asked her if I should continue to wait for service. She said " I'm sorry sir we have a short staff" A. The best part of the night was after we had a few rounds of drinks, we ended up in some room watching Lady Brandy and her band perform. She was performing all the blues classics, and when I say performing, GOOD LORD she was putting on a show! I felt like I was in Memphis or New Orleans at an ol juke joint with Lady Brandy performing. This casino, and I use the term loosely, has the rudest bingo staff, incompetent slot staff, and nastiest cafe food I have ever experienced all at one day in a casino. The bingo staff was rude to the handicapped neighbor I was with and did not want to answer a simple question for her although there was no line. A manager had to be called. The slot staff sent us the wrong way TWICE to find machines where the chair could be pushed to the side and a wheel chair rolled in. When we found some the slot staff said they did not know if they were allowed to move the chairs! A manager was called. A portion of my lunch was served to me still FROZEN!!! Absolutely the most disgusting bathrooms I have ever seen, worse than a 29 Palms roadside gas station. Every time I dine there I bring up the dirtiness of the facility and every time I return (hoping thay have rectified the situation) the bathroom seems the same. The coffee here is exceptionally bleh. The chicken salad is surprisingly exceptional. Impressive presentation and portion. the textures are well balanced. It even tastes very good. I went to the silver nugget to bowl with my family earlier today and I was bombarded with bad customer service. I gave the cashier $3 in change in order to receive 3 dollar bills to buy my family something from the snack bar . The cashier (an older short grey haired African woman) angrily pushed the change back at me said we don't take all this change! Honestly she was mad downright rude and unapologetic about it. I asked her if I could speak with a manager about it bc I just needed 3 dollar bills. She called security and a manager to the cage. The manager came and talked to her and I about the issue and he asked her if she would take my change and she quickly agreed. She gave me $2 instead of 3 and I told her she owed me another dollar. She gave me the other dollar and said to me "whatever big girl". I started to walk away but turned back around to ask her why she'd call me that. That's when the manager Dominick came and told me to talk to him outside. Outside he told me to go leave and don't come back and I asked him why I'm just here bowling with my family I don't understand how this escalated so quickly all from the cashiers horrible customer service. That she called me a big girl and called security on me all bc she didn't feel like taking my 3 dollars in change. There are no signs or anything about not taking change or a certain amount of change. The manager was very one sided defensive and uncaring. Honestly I have never experienced customer service this bad. I suppose the manager was doing his job but he did not care what happened he just focused on kicking me out The casino..The cashier was rude called me out my name and was completely unprofessional. This small casino is a great place to play a few slots and stop by to eat some delicious food at their Hometown Kitchen. Our server was Teshia and she did a fabulous job recommending all the good food. Their $5.99 steak special is on point. Definitely recommend this place plus it has an AMF bowling lane. read more

ABSOLUTELY NOT !! NEVER AGAIN !! Regrettably, I am sending this information on an incident that occurred 11 Oct 2016. We were visiting this casino (just left Nellis AFB), the Silver Nugget, and while waiting at the cashier window to cash in a combination of chips, change and a ticket voucher, a couple of men several folks behind me, engaged in a bit of 'baiting' while the window was temporarily closed for about 10 or 15 mins? I tried to politely ignore one guy who was constantly talking loudly in an intimidating manner. After about ten minutes or more of this happening, the security guard (twice my size) came over, asking me to step away and, I asked why. Having not had one cocktail or drink of any kind, it seemed odd to be asked that. At that point the security guard wrapped his arms around me pulling me towards the door, tossing me on the floor in front of everyone. It felt like he had attacked me. He successfully (I had thrown my back out just two days earlier, so I was still feeling the pain while this was happening) got me outside. The security guy, who is twice my size, was told about 3 times that I have a bad back. His response was "I don't care." Meanwhile a third party woman that was behind me on line at the cashier window pleaded for him to stop, having witnessed what I described above. Once outside the manager Dominick, tried to speak with me, but I was pretty hysterical...and when my friend collected my money and spoke to Dominick, he said "people complained about my behavior"??? The same woman tried talking to the manager in order to explain that the guys behind her were the loud ones, but he stuck to his story. What other 'people' were there to complain?...The security guard heard the other two men, but decided I was the disruptive person and this was totally unacceptable. Personally, I think the woman in the cashiers cage (skinny black woman with some graying hair....mean and nasty person) is the sole reason for this. She closed the window right in front of me after waiting for a while and then tells me to go to the machine to cash out....i told her I can't cause I have coins, vouchers and chips. I think she got the security guard to remove me like he did to another woman back on 6 October on this Yelp page....see down below in these reviews on yelp. You can imagine how I feel: humiliated, accosted, manhandled and extremely surprised as we had had a great time up to then, having planned to eat in the restaurant and play afterwards. How can such a situation occur? To make matters worse, my right shoulder is now out of wack and I can barely raise my arm. What a great birthday trip this was turning out to be (next day was my bday). We were actually staying at Mandalay Bay. My friend and I are in our 50s/60s......we surely are not immature people; both college educated and really totally astounded. Also, the Manager, Dominick, while able to speak with my friend, wasn't readily available when the security person reacted so violently and unnecessarily. As an aside, I'm Caucasian and was the only 'white' person on line and felt singled out because of that. I am hopeful race is not the reason people would ever act this way, having never experienced anything like this in my life. I sent an email (twice) to the management company for this casino (Jeffrey Fine) that he or a representative of his please review the security footage tapes and that the security guard be disciplined for what happened. Come to find out this Jeffrey Fine also owns/franchises several other businesses in Las Vegas which I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN. Those businesses are: Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Daily Kitchen, Jamba Juice, and Lobster Me. (all under Mr Fine's Lev Restaurant Group). Based on receiving no response from Mr Fine or anyone else from his organization (not even an acknowledgement of receiving my email complaint) I am posting to YELP. read more
