Nice little place to stay for the night - I went up with my family on an overnight trip from the front range. It's refreshing to not stay in one of the "big box" hotels or motels. The motel was clean, though not very updated. The hosts are a very nice German couple - nice to have a place that's family-owned with personable staff. One of our rooms had a good, large TV with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was old, and the shower head was probably 5'6" off the floor... hard to get a good hair wash in. Amenities are provided, but the towels were less than satisfying. Our other room was spacious - it was the "pointed" room on the US50 side of the motel. The bed was also comfortable, but again, the bathroom was not desirable. Big TV there too. There was an interesting retro fake firelog that glowed a warm orange color... The "deluxe breakfast" was some fruit, some pastries, and baked goods. Nice to have a bit of food, but look for breakfast elsewhere. Overall a nice place to stay in a great location with friendly hosts, and the rooms are decent if you're looking for a one-night stay with comfortable beds. $100 per night per room for us. (one with two queens, one with a king). read more

We felt lucky to have noticed this motel driving into town. Owner operated, it is spotlessly clean. Four pillows on each bed-more than enough for us! Our room had a nice view out the back and a small window so we could notice it and regret the necessity of laying out motel rooms to face the parking lot. Our room was large enough to spread out our yoga mats and do some stretches before bed and in the morning. Set far enough back from the street that we didn't hear street noise in our room. The owners don't use heavily scented cleaning products or spray the rooms down with "air freshener". Thank you for letting your spotlessly clean rooms speak for themselves! The owner checked us in and gave us a great tip re where to eat dinner (Rivers Edge in town). After scanning the breakfast options in the morning (basic motel offerings) we returned to Rivers Edge for a real cafe breakfast. The gardens around the motel are lovely, adding to the charm of this place. This is a really clean and very nice inexpensive motel. It has no pretensions to be a "luxury" hotel. This was a very nice place to stay. Very comfortable rooms that came with a fridge and microwave. Rooms are very clean and the staff is very friendly! My only complaint was that the doors need to be adjusted and they need a small table in the corner to put stuff on. Would definitely stay here again!!! Quiet place! read more

Have been to Salida a dozen times over the last 10 years and we always stay here. Great location, reasonable/seasonal rates, and always clean. Owners are cordial and always helpful. (especially since we backpack/hike/raft and our plans seem to always change.) I see where Dave W. gave it a one star review, but you can't hold business owners responsible for wildfires and communication difficulties as a result of cell towers going down. We spent 3 nights at SRL last week, and will definitely stay there again next summer. The river/downtown is 1 mile away, but an easy walk or you can catch a cab for $7. Also, it is across the street from a brewpub and there are several restaurants within a 5 min walk. Take a chance, worth the experience. read more

For the price you get clean rooms, staff that are knowledgeable about the area, and concerned for your well being. Very cool old school motel. I travel for work and spend about 200 nights a year in hotels so I have pretty good perspective on traveller needs. This motel is one of the cleanest I've stayed in both inside and out. I like they keep the retro vibe of the motel as well. Very quiet and convient to locate. Very disappointing. Wifi, beds, windows are low quality. Noise fr the road is audiblewith windows closed all night long. We couldn't get on the internet and take care of business because the wifi was so poor. The beds are old, one can feel the coils. We are exhausted. Last but least, we are traveling with a service dog, and were made to understand we were not welcome. Finally we were denied a late checkout. The only positive is our room was clean. read more

My friends and I stayed here for one night, just passing through to go rafting the next day. Clean, comfortable, plenty of space, and easy to book (via phone call). Close to local restaurants and shops, hot springs, Wal Mart, and downtown. The price was great, considering we split it four ways (for a room with 2 Queen beds). We enjoyed the more modest accommodations (i.e. microwave, bathroom colors, shower curtain, smaller TV) and we will come back if we're driving through again! read more

This motel was a decent place to stay with a convenient location and the price was reasonable. However, after staying in other very similar lodging, I'd have to rate this a bit lower. The heating system was not the greatest. Basically, you could freeze or burn up and nothing in between. There was a tiny, ancient heater in the bathroom that basically just warmed the toilet paper to 90 degrees but did nothing to warm up the bathroom. I actually loved the teal green retro oval-shaped bath tub, but I'm a bath freak. The other bathroom fixtures were new and everything was super clean which is important but just didn't do enough to wow me on this place. It looks like they're spending most of the maintenance budget on beautifully manicured landscaping, and for us that was really NOT important. I'd rather have better appointed rooms and better lighting! They could also lose the plastic hummingbird figurines and rose print wallpaper. There was a coffee maker, sweetener, and cups in the room, but no coffee. Edited to add: HOLY moly, I just saw another Yelp reviewer posted photos of the bathroom and bedroom areas in Room #10 and let me clarify that the rest of the motel is NOTHING like that whatsoever. I'm guessing that's a special suite. Our room was practically "gross" by comparison and I wish I'd taken in-room photos! read more

Silver Ridge Lodge - on the edge of the landscaped lot (which had 2 workers manicuring it until dark) - Hotels Near Me - Salida, Colorado

We generally seek out independently owned hotels or lodges more on the quaint side and this one was right up our alley. We loved it. VERY clean and spacious rooms and although it is an older building, there weren't any musty smells. I had absolutely NO fear of getting any bedbugs from this place. The beds and pillows were very comfy and soft, but not too soft where it gave me a back ache. The grounds are very well kept with beautiful flowers and cute little birdbaths and such all around the garden areas. The spa room has a nice clean hot tub and a cool vintage sauna. The hotel is located about 5 mins driving distance from the main downtown area so if you want to walk out in the morning for a Starbucks you'll have to bike over or take the car. The price was reasonable and if we ever stay in Salida again I would definitely stay here. read more

I liked it! It was like a time machine took me back to the good old 70s-80s when I was a kid vacationing with my family. In fact, it is likely that not much has changed here...and that is a good thing if you are looking for reasonably priced, modest accommodations (I don't need a flat screen or fancy breakfast). There was a large deck open to guests (great for meeting new people, having a few beers, and staring at the clear star-filled sky) that I definitely took advantage of. The grounds and landscaping were lush and someone was working on them constantly...yes, the owners have a lot of pride in the appearance of their hotel. They were always outside working on something...love it! The pool was being "remodeled", so we went to the Super 8 next door and jumped in their indoor pool and 3 hot tubs until getting booted out at 10pm. Hot tub-hoppin' (#hth) The hot tub at Silver Ridge was tiny, as was the sauna (my daughter reported to me that she thought it was a sauna for cats because of its size. No way a 5 ft tall person fits in there! Big, clean rooms, rates under $100/night, Great location, great views, great town. read more

We stayed here in September 2013. The room was acceptable with the exception of not having warm/hot water including in the shower. The girl at the front desk was aware the entire wing of the hotel didn't have hot water. Many of the guests asked to speak with the manager when we checked out. However, the girl told us he was on vacation and she could not get in touch with him. She refused to offer a refund without speaking to her boss. She appeared to be terrified of her boss. It was quite sad to see her so frightened. We explained to her she did nothing wrong we would like to speak with her boss about the lack of hot water. We left our number with her to have her boss call us back. The manager/boss owner never called us. I will never bring my buisness back. Especially since that poor girl was so frightened of her boss. read more

Yes it is an older motel, but it has all you need for a good night's rest and a kick-start in the morning. It is a typical Colorado Mountain Motel that was probably built in the seventies. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were superbly clean albet simple. Location was a deciding factor for us. We wanted to go back to Monarch Pass near midnight for photos yet traveled to Buena Vista and Leadville the next morning. Accept it for what it is, and enjoy your vacation read more

We've stayed here several times after my first review. As I understand it, the couple who owns the place - a great American immigrant story by the way - have semi-retired and the place is now run by... a son and wife?... daughter and husband?... son and daughter? I don't remember now, but the place is still run great, the rooms are wonderfully retro, and very clean. In our last room there was a new small refrigerator, new microwave and something I've never seen before; a bathroom kit for men. It had deodorant, soap and shampoo & conditioner for men. They now have a great area near the office with tables and a hot tub to relax. This is really a nice place! Come here, stay here, you won't be disappointed! read more

We paid $80 to stay here. The room was a bit outdated with some funky wallpaper. Our heater was incredibly loud and made it impossible to sleep with it on. We ended up turning it off and dealing with the cold. The shower floor is coated with some sort of very rough, rocky material. It was painful to stand on and made taking a nice, long relaxing shower impossible. In fact, I tried to get in and out as fast as possible and nearly considered skipping the shower in the morning. Speaking of the shower, the water took forever to heat up and once it did heat up, it would sporadically go from scorching hot to freezing cold without touching the knobs. The towels were tiny and very cheap material. The hair dryer was on the very highest shelf in the room. Thankfully my boyfriend was there, otherwise I definitely wouldn't have been able to get to it. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again if there are other options in the area. Breakfast was decent and the staff were nice. read more

As others have written here, this was a bit of a mixed bag. We got a good price, as compared to other local places. The room was generally very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, the staff friendly, the grounds very nice with lots of flowers. The free breakfast was a pretty typical continental breakfast, with boiled eggs, but no real cream or half-and-half for coffee. Fortunately, there's an excellent breakfast joint just a couple doors down. There are plenty of businesses in the area, in walking distance, and downtown is only about a mile and a half away. The doors didn't have the automatic closing mechanism so common in motels, so we didn't have the typical slamming door sound keeping us awake all night, though we did hear every step from overhead neighbors and talk from others. Our room was in a sort of back corner, so we had no road noise. The free wifi worked just fine for us. There was no bath tub, but the shower was large The head was very low, which was awkward. I'm pretty short, but had to crouch down to wash my hair. The shower temperature also kept going from very hot to barely warm. The sink drain was very slow. We told management at checkout, but that really should have been kept up with already. The towels were small and thin, with just two for the two of us---no extras for the pool or hot tub. Then again, the hot tub wasn't very hot, and was covered with a dirty-looking piece of rubber that looked like a floor mat, so we decided to skip that. The do-not-disturb indicator is built into the door, kind of a neat feature until you realize you can't leave the room with it on, which we like to do to skip maid service sometimes. The room also had no iron or hair dryer---surprising in a room that has a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Our second morning, we had an odd ticking noise, that sounded like water dripping, or something like that. We never determined what caused that, but it was disturbing. read more

We stayed here on an overnight drive from Colorado Springs on our way to Telluride. It was your average lodge. The TVs could use an upgrade, I mean how many years old are those things? The service was friendly and accommodating, the amenities were all the usual things. I thought it was strange how they provided shampoo yet no conditioner and the lotion was frozen, no joke, I had to pound it on the counter to get out even a dime sized amount. The shower head was too low and only came up to my shoulders, so I had a difficult time washing my hair and I'm 5'7" which isn't that tall! The breakfast was a good spread and we were definitely full from all the morning delights that were provided. Our one night cost us $55 so we weren't expecting luxury, but seriously, a little conditioner & lotion can only help the world of frizzy hair and ashy elbows. read more

Our second stay was as good as a few years ago. A family run independent this place is extremely clean and I find it comfortable & peaceful. The decor is somewhere between 1965 and 1990....but the beds were comfortable, the reading light bright and it was quiet. Windows front and back open for cross-ventilation, so you can enjoy the mountain air. Didn't hear any highway noise or noise from adjoining rooms. Breakfast is standard--cereal, juice, packaged pastries, toast, & hard boiled eggs..we were satisified. There is an expresso place and the County Bounty restaurant a few hundred yards east on US50 for those who need more variety. Silver Ridge Lodge is located across the highway from the municipal hot springs pool which is open year-round. There is a one story wing and a two story wing....so specify if you don't want folks overhead. read more

VERY surprised with this place. Family run. Slowly renovating. LARGE rooms. I really hate to recommend this place because I don't want all the good rooms booked up. My son and his family, totaling 6, stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with plenty of room for them all to sleep and large bathroom and a separate living area. We stayed in the king suite at the front of the hotel. I was worried it was going to be noisy and to light because it was right on the road, but it was just right. Need a couple of more pillows and better grade on the king size bed. But they are undergoing remodel. so we are hopeful. Breakfast was not anything worth staying for, but there is a great pancake place right down the road. If you are going to use the hot springs hotel, stop at the front desk and they will give you some towels to use, so that the shower towels are still dry and fresh for you to use in the am. Parking is a little tight if you have a big truck (we have a dually), but otherwise we will be back again. read more

Skeptical when booking online but great place in person! The place is nostalgic and retro, giving travelers the feeling of stepping back in time to a less hectic life. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the rooms are cleaner than what you would find in most large chain 2 star hotels. Deluxe breakfast is a plus. Only a few things to improve...new towels and some the lighting is out of date. The shower heads are placed a little low for most people. Other than that, great place to stay. You park your car right in front of your room. Will return if ever in the area again. read more

This was a difficult review to write. On one hand, the property is very well kept. It is probably the cleanest place we have ever stayed in away from home. On the other hand it is a bit dated (very comparable to a cabin we stayed at near Estes Park however). The owner lives on property and works very hard to keep everything in tip top shape. Our family of four stayed in a double queen room that was spacious. The pool was a comfortable temp and clean. The breakfast was a fairly standard deluxe continental breakfast. All of that said, the property is also very dated. It reminded me of a restored classic car. It feels like a blast from the past. The old microwave and fridge, the old air conditioning unit, the old keys etc. I think that if we had gotten a better price on the room, the value would have felt higher. However we went during the FibARK Festival on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park and stayed for two nights here. We paid $144 a night which was a bit high. The WiFi was Free which was good. The shampoo available was the cheapest packet from China available.There isn't an iron/ironing board. Would it hurt to have a slightly better amentities offering? In the end, I give this three stars for average. I would stay again, but only if I got a better price. read more

Very clean. I have stayed in a lot of big chains, all sorts of motels and lodges and hotels and this is very very clean. It was comfortable and every room I was in, including the check in office, the breakfast area, the hot tub, and our room was sparkling clean. No bad smells, no dust anywhere, and just a very comfortable feeling. I have a very hard time falling asleep in hotel beds, but I fell asleep right away which shows how clean and comfortable I felt. The front office lady was very courteous and helpful. I asked for extra towels and she was very nice. Obviously, this is a locally owned and operated business and you can tell with the care and amount of detail taking into maintaining a very clean, efficient hotel. The appliances are a little outdated, yes and the shower head is a little low, but I don't really care for that. The heater worked and my bed was really comfortable. Also, very friendly guests also staying here. read more

I've stayed in Salida many, many times at a number of different hotels. My family and I go there 2-3 times a year to ski, ride mountain bikes, climb 14ers, float the Arkansas River, etc. I've stayed at the Silver Ridge Lodge twice before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, our last stay was very disappointing. We stayed for two nights and after checking out had a very unfortunate experience with one of the managers. My family and I rode the Monarch Crest Trail the day before and our bikes were very dirty, so we used their hose to wash off our bikes. It was an old-fashioned pump hose that unfortunately, I was not familiar with. My wife held the hose as I pumped it up and down for pressure. All of a sudden, the owner/manager came out an yelled at me, "What are you doing?" I was quite startled, shocked and taken aback. I looked at him and said, "I'm not sure how to work this." He then responded, very angrily, "Well then, why don't you ask?" Again, I just couldn't believe he would talk to a customer that way who didn't understand the mechanics of an old-fashioned pump hose. My wife was startled, as were my kids. None of us could understand why he simply didn't say something like, "Here let me show you how it works." Or, "May I help you, please?" It was just too depressing of an encounter. His wife was very nice afterwards though. She apologized, which was appreciated. read more
