I brought my dog to the ranch specifically for the barn hunt clinic and practice sessions. New to this sport, I emailed the ranch the day prior and Tina was very helpful and quick to respond. The ranch itself is picturesque. Situated in Beautiful rolling hills with a small can of sheep and chickens, it is a dog's dream. The staff was friendly and professional when we arrived, and I really appreciated the detailed information we receive during the clinic. One of my concerns about barn hunt was the potential harm to the Dogs or the rats. I believe Tina cares deeply about both issues and the rats appeared to feel safe and Also curious about the dogs. Most importantly, my dog appeared to have a really great time. Looking forward to additional practice sessions. Regardless of where you go, I think it's important to find shared activities with your dog because that's what really develops and strengthens the bond and keep them sufficiently stimulated. I wanted to give a shout out to Tina and her staff at Silver Rose Ranch in Chino Hills for taking care of our dog while we were on vacation for 9 days over spring break. I had not had a dog for over 30 years and my family rescued our dog about 6 months ago so I was unsure how she would do without us. Tina is very knowledgeable with dogs. I learned a lot from her and she is very nice and I will be taking my dog back her when we go out of town again. The dogs have a good sized kennel to sleep in at night and get out in big play areas spread throughout the property to play all day with other dogs. When we got our dog back she was so exhausted from playing with all the other dogs for over a week. I have to recommend this place to any dog owner. The results speak for themselves. I am 4 weeks into the 6 week obedience course. And I have seen the biggest improvement in my 2yr old Australian cattle dog mix who was re-homed because of severe anxiety and fear aggressive behaviors. Tina and Ian not only train the dogs but they focus in on helping you as the trainer build the confidence to handle your rambunctious pup. I'm sharing this review before the completion of the course, because earlier today, my pup ran out of the car after coming home from the park. Usually I have to chase her up and down the street 4 or 5 laps before she's tired enough for me to catch up to her. But today was different! She ran up the street, and I was able to recall her to me for the first time ever. We often bring our dog here for boarding and daycare and the staff know what they're going and can handle her, whereas many other places have turned us away. read more

I did the meet and greet to board my puppy at the ranch. But after meeting Tina, I decided to find a different place. Through out the meet and greet, Tina made demeaning comments about my puppy and myself then immediately after praised her own self and slipped in that she can correct the problem if I joined her training class. Very unprofessional. Very rude. I did not come to sign up for training classes or to hear her talk down on me and my pup. I just wanted my puppy boarded in a place where she will receive play time while I'm away. I didn't mind Tina trying to get me to sign up for her classes, but her sales tactic is horrible. It leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. After meeting Tina, I will never go to her to train my dog. A dog trainer needs to know how to socialize with dogs as well as PEOPLE. Also during the tour of the kennel conducted by one of the employees, there was a boarded dog that was barking incessantly as we passed by. The employee shouted "quiet!" as we walked by and continued to shout "quiet!" even as we walked along the back of the kennel where we couldn't even see the dog. It was obvious the dog was not going to stop barking, and the employee's command was not doing a single thing. Is this how they treat the dogs? It's not even correcting the problem. That made me wonder if my dog was going to be well taken care of. Furthermore, while Tina and I were in the office, one of the dogs on the Ranch followed in with us. As we were leaving, Tina paid no attention to the dog and turned the lights off and closed the door on him, locking him in. She was completely oblivious to it and just kept on talking as we walked back to the car. Luckily, the employee let us know the dog was still in there. And Tina's response to that was, "He's a smart dog. He should have known better." Red flag. That response does not sound like someone who will take good care of my dog while I'm away for a few days. I am so glad I witnessed all of this. I am going to stay far away from this place. read more

So I went to see this place the website made It seem like it was a friendly and loving place for your dogs. So I get there no one was around the dogs started barking then a worker came from the back. I asked the lady for info she said she wasn't the the owner for me to email her in a rude tone as we are talking she's yelling at dogs to be quiet!! Not a good first impressing oh the thing that topped it off she snapped her fingers at my daughter and and called her missy!!!!! I recently started taking my dog here. Love, love, love this place. I utilize the daycare services and have kenneled him twice. Silver Rose Ranch was recommended to me by co-workers who have taken their dogs here. I am totally satisfied. Every morning when I drop him off someone is there to meet me, and when I pick him up in the evening someone is there waiting to bring him to me. So convenient, clean and my dog seems to really enjoy himself! He comes home exhausted from his day of play. I make my dogs food, so when I kennel him I bring it frozen and Silver Rose Staff feed it to him. Very organized and cost efficient. Very professional and courteous staff. We have been taking our 7-year old Kona to Tina for most of her life. She can't wait to get there and play with the other dogs. Kona can be a difficult girl at home, but when she gets to the ranch, she falls in line immediately. Tina has complete control of any situation and Kona absolutely adores her. We wouldn't even consider taking her anywhere else. She does come home dirty and tired from so much playing, but she always has the best time. The dogs go outside during the day to a secure area to play and socialize with other dogs, and are then brought to individual kennels, complete with crates inside, to spend the night. They always have fresh water and exceptional care. If you've never taken your dog to the ranch, give it a try and see how he/she is when you pick them up. I think you'll be happy you did. It's so nice to be able to head out for a weekend or few days' trip and know my two dogs will have as much fun away as I will... at the Silver Rose Ranch, a real ranch that has animal lovers (and experienced animal care-givers) to take care of my best friends. I have used them about 6 times for boarding, from overnight to a week, and my dogs have a great time. It's hard to arrange a pet sitter at the house, and here, my dogs get to go out and play with similar-temperament dog friends, then come in and spend the night in a clean kennel with blankies and TLC. The staff have always been very friendly and Tina, the owner, is very good with dogs- she's able to evaluate temperament and keep similar dogs in play groups. My two always come home exhausted, happy, sometimes a little less groomed than they left (because they've been at 'camp' with their friends, wrasslin' and playin'!) and while they're glad to see me, I know they have not been cooped up in a concrete cage while I've been away too. Highly recommended if you want your dogs to socialize, play, and get personal attention. If you're an obsessive dog parent who wants to call your dog twice a day... they'll be too busy playing with their friends to take your call! A friend took her puppy to the puppy class at Silver Rose, and had a very positive experience with that, too. Silver Rose is getting to be so popular that I have to remember to call ahead when I make MY hotel reservations, so my dogs can have their stay reserved too.! read more

Took my boxer here to be watched for the day. He loved it, came home very dirty and tired! This place is really nice, I love how the dogs get to run around most of the day playing, beats most places where there in a kennel pinned up. Like they say on there website this is not a foo foo place, it's a ranch so be prepared for your dog to need a bath from playing in the dirt all day. I have never been able to find someone who would care for her while on a vacation, but Tina has agreed to take her in and spoil her like we do. Finally my husband and I will take a vacation together. One of us always has had to stay home because of Lucy or we take her with us. Lucy met with Tina and both were happy and got along fine. I would not let just anyone take care of her, but since my 2 pit bulls have been going there for 2 years and I have come to count on the ranch, Tina and the staff, she will do well and be happy. We found this place after trying a couple others. Our HIGH energy chocolate lab was trained at K9 Companions in Lake Matthews but they are TOO far from us for boarding and they charge alot because they have a minimum number of days you can board your dog. Silver Rose is great. Your dog must be fixed but I promise, it is worth it. Before you can board your dog, you have to bring your pup for a "meet and greet". It's actually a temperament test to see how your dog acts in a pack. They give you a tour and you can see for yourself how the dogs are treated. They have several different people looking after the dogs and horses (they primarily train horses but they train dogs also) but you can tell that all the people there are serious about what they do. Your dog pretty much spends all day outdoors in a playpen with a pack of other dogs. The playpens are huge and there is shade and water. It's great because if you have single dog like we do, they get to be around other dogs and they actually learn a little discipline from the pack. They get a physical as well as a mental workout while they're there. The kennels are outdoors but they are roomy with a doghouse in each one. You can bring a pet bed but if you do, have one that you use only for boarding because it will get dirty while it's there. The owners are super nice and they will look after your dog like its one of theirs. I have to admit, we spoil our dog and we treat him like a kid but I also understand that he needs to be treated like a dog and be with other dogs. The accommodations at Silver Rose are the best I've seen and when we go out of town, I have no worries whatsoever leaving our dog there. The prices are reasonable too. I highly recommend you check it out for yourself. Everyone's dog care needs are different. If you're looking for a doggie hotel with one on one play time, this is not the place for you. But if you want your dog to be in an outdoor environment, playing and interacting with others dogs, getting dirty and tired, check this place out for sure! read more

If you're one of those people like me who hates the thought of your dog spending days in a cage while you're on vacation, this is your place. Free roaming dogs with supervision and tons of play time. Silver Rose Ranch offers great classes for your dog. We took our pup for basic obedience and we learned so much... As did the dog. Tina, the owner and instructor is great and knows her stuff. She showed us the best techniques and ways to teach our dog. She works with every owner and dog's needs. Now we are taking our dog to agility classes. We've been bringing our German Shorthaired Pointer once a week for about a year now and he absolutely loves it. In our house we're not allowed to say "the ranch" with out taking him because he gets THAT excited. He may come home a little dusty but it's worth it. Our dog is also extremely exhausted the following day from running around all day. Everyone who works there is very nice and I recommend it to anyone who's looking for a place for their dog to socialize and being able to play all day. read more

We have been taking our dog to the Silver Rose all his life. It's the only place we will take him. He is not in a cage all day he is outside with other dogs his size playing. Tina is great with dogs!! I have left my dog here for boarding and day care about two weeks in the past and each time I pick up my dog she is happy as can be. She is usually dirty and exhausted, which is exactly how I want to find my dog when I return from out of town. My dog literally slept for about two days straight when we first returned from Tina's. When I first dropped my dog off I was worried because she tends to be anxious and fearful around people and big dogs. I wasn't sure how'd she do in a big play pen but when I returned from my trip, my dog was playing with dogs her size and dogs bigger than her. I was shocked. Since we've been back, my dog has been a completely different dog. Less barking, more independent, goes up to other dogs and strangers. I don't know what Tina did but I am beyond grateful. They also offer obedience classes here which I am going to be enrolling in due to my dog's already changed behavior. I highly recommend this place!! read more

Tina and her staff are amazing! I went here for the basic obedience class for my two little rascals. My family all needed some help with them. Not only did she help train them but she trained me. I've learned that's most important. Thanks to her my two Boston Terriers have made strides of improvement. I'm better at handling them and they know how to listen. I have had wonderful experiences at the Silver Rose Ranch. Tina is a no nonsense, friendly, and helpful dog trainer. She trains me to be able to teach my pup, Ivy, a pit bull mix, to want to do as I ask. She has wisdom and insight, of which I have not heard at other training facilities. I truly appreciate her and her husband for our training lessons. I also participate in Doggy Day Care. Where else can you leave your dog for up to 11-12 hours a day... TO PLAY WITH OTHER DOGS... for hours on end, nowhere I know of. Socialization is SO important for pups, so they easily get along with other dogs.Silver Rose Ranch has 5 acres with numerous play areas, loaded with dogs that will placed together, according to their observed personalities. I would not pay attention to the low rated reviews, sometimes it is just not meant to be...they need to let it go and prioritize what they want to accomplish. This is the best boarding and training facility ever - if you want your dog to stay and learn in a fulfilling, stimulating and dog loving environment. (If you are afraid that your dog might come home covered in dirt because he/she had so much fun playing all day with the other dogs, this might not be the right place for you.) My dog Tanner and I took the basic obedience class and we learned so much from Tina. She knows a lot about dog behavior and teaches with that in mind. She truly loves the dogs, and animals and humans learn from her with positive reinforcement. We also made use of the day care and long term boarding many, many times and I always felt comfortable leaving my dog in their care for a day or week of fun and exercise. My dog was always so happy and positively tired out at the end of the day and I felt less bad not having been able to take care of him myself that day/ week. In summary, I understand that people are nervous when they first drop off their best friend for the first time at a boarding place (I was as well), but after bringing my dog here for many years, I feel extremely comfortable and do not know of anyone else I would trust with my dog's wellbeing more than Tina! read more

recently moved to the area and decided to try this place based on the amount of good reviews BUT totally had a different experience from others. not sure if they had a promotional offer to get people to write good reviews but i bought the 10 day pass, used it, never came back. 1) the owner was rude and threw some subtle jabs during our early conversations 2) orientation was in the parking lot, was not given a proper tour of the different play areas but the person before me went on a full tour 3) first day of daycare, i arrived in the morning and was not even invited to see how he reacts with the other dogs 4) called multiple times with no answer - usually a bad sign if i can't get in touch with anyone that's looking after my dog (its almost like having a babysitter not answering your call when your away) 5) dogs are kept in a caged dark barn. although the dogs are in the shade, they are exposed to the outside humidity 6) i also dont know the amount of water they give the dogs and you know some dogs like to pee in the bowls to mark their territory so the water might not be clean 7) based on the amount of labor that was working, the dogs might be unsupervised as the labor was mostly doing yard work 8) the greeting staff is nice read more

Pulling up the the ranch, it looked like a wonderful facility, and I was excited for my dogs to get to roam around open space with other dogs. Once there and out of my car Tina told me to go wait in the training pen and take my dogs off their leash. Tina came out once someone reminded her I was there. She was friendly, but I could tell she was a tad skeptical about my two pitbulls. We sat and talked about my dogs and she immediately asked why I have their ears docked, and said that dogs ears and tails should be left alone, because they look MUTILATED once docked. Then she asked if I fight my dogs. I was shocked that she was so blunt about that. I said absolutely not, and she questioned me again. Then said, "they don't have any scars, so, I guess." I felt attacked. Just because the breed I have chosen is known for their strength and bad history people put them through, she assumed my dogs were the same. I understand that people associate the breed with bad news, and I am fine with that, it's a decision I have made and will proudly support my breed, but when you accuse me of being a dig fighter and saying my dogs look mutilated, oh no. I had mentioned that my friend brings his golden to her and she replied with, "yes, but Maggie is a golden" *(yours are pitbulls)*. When she brought her dog out for the meet and greet, they were all friendly. Sniffing each other and tails wagging. Her dog growled a little bit, and Tina got that under control, then my eight month old pup "pushed his chest on her dog and showed dominance" and I was told to quickly grab them and let her dog leave the area. I understand she is protecting her baby, and preventing a potential bad situation, but immediately after she suggested that I bring my dog to her training classes. Um, my dogs were just verbally attacked and I was accused of being a dog fighter, there is no way she is getting one dime from me. Even if the meet and greet would have went well, I would not have had my dogs stay there. No way. read more
