Tom is a great trainer. When I inquired, he called me and wanted to understand what I wanted for my dog and what my concerns were. He told me to come early so he can evaluate her. Tom let me know he had a class that started two weeks ago but that I can come participate and watch and can decide if I wanted to join. I came late and I stood behind away from every dog because my dog was very fearful and reactive, barking at everyone. Tom let me start that day and told me I could be continue to come and would be added to the next cohort at the end of the month, he gave me those extra weeks without charging me extra. I have been going every session since 1/8 M-Th and my dog is doing very well she is less reactive and is finding a purpose. She gets excited to go because she puts her collar, leash, and jumps in the car. I also found out a lot of her reactivity and fear was because I was scared and she was feeding from my energy and also that she just wanted to play with the other dogs, I have learned how to read her body language she is progressing very well. I am in week three of an online beginning obedience program with this company and so far so good. Had placed a deposit with a local trainer(live in Las Vegas) I have used in the past with my last Rottweiler but because he contracted covid 19 and is having serious issues decided to give Tom's online class a try. Tom was actually the breeder of my puppy's mother. He was a great source of information during the decision making process as well. Long story long, online videos are straightforward to the point. No corny jokes or bs. Have learned consistency, practice and empathy are the name of the game. There are certain sayings he has like where the head goes the body will follow. Day 0. I am writing this review based on one day consultation, and will update this at the end of 9 weeks after we complete the course. We have a cute 6 month Golden. I call him Cujo since he does not act like a golden and has bitten me. I called Tom, and we spoke on the phone. He was not rushed, and asked a few questions and gave pointers on the phone and invited me to meet him. On the initial meeting he sets the tone. Gets a training collar on. My puppy jumped on him and he corrected him. For the uninitiated, it seems harsh, but it is tough love, and we were clearly not doing this right. Tom invited me to watch a class with him. I can honestly see an improvement in one day. Tom, I regret to inform you that I will NOT be completing the rest of this program due to the discrimination you displayed against me in front of 40 plus people. I was humiliated, treated like a second class citzen, and called a BUFFOON in front of everyone. I don't know how many other ethnic people of color you call monkeys, but I feel passioned to let people know that you would stoop so low to mimic a 73 yr old Filipino's walk in front of a large group - for a laugh. Read the Facebook reviews of the eye witnesses who were there and the reviews of the other owners/dogs involved. Either the dog becomes the ALPHA or the owner becomes the ALPHA. Tom Fishers method does just that. He trains the trainer how to be an ALPHA. Come to the classes and see for yourself. See how Tom trains a class of sometimes 10-20 dogs all by himself. As a professional trainer, he has to also take the responsibility to make sure that dogs do not attack each other. He has to do what is necessary to prevent this. Sorry but I wrote the review based on what happened. Yes, our dog was dragging us the whole time when we brought her to you. And yes, we did not bring a muzzle but we said that we will just come back when we have a muzzle. But you told us to give you the leash and you said "Let me try" and when we handed it to you, after walking one step our dog noticed that you were holding her leash and that's when she tried to bite you at your underarm. You then let go of the leash and called her a piece of shit. And that's when you proceeded to tell us that if she was your dog, you would put her down because she is a liability. You even said that something is wrong with her head like she has a neurological issue. I appreciate your professional opinion regarding putting our dog down but thank God we did not listen to you and we searched for another trainer. And regarding the vet that you are saying I bad mouthed on yelp? Let me tell you what he said. He took an xray of our dog and after waiting for an hour he had his tech come out to the waiting room and told us that she has spina bifida and that she needs to be put down. But clearly, she does not have spina bifida and again, thank God we sought for another opinion. It's amazing how you suddenly forgot how that evaluation of yours took place. I am plainly speaking from experience on what had happened that day. Yes, we brought her to you before and she was not aggressive yet and yes we did not bring her to you after so many months because her chiropractor advised us not to undergo any training that would cause some jerking on her neck due to her injury. Why would I make a negative review on yelp for no reason? You really think I could make that stuff up? I am sorry that I had to make that review but that is what happened. I have brought my dogs to Tom's classes for 5 years. You can't find a better trainer anywhere. Convenient days and hours. You pay for one class but are welcome to participate in all of his classes. He knows we don't go home and work our dogs like we should, so the more classes you can attend the more practice you get. I was afraid of aggressive dogs 5 years ago. I feel completely safe in his classes. I have learned he is always on top of the dogs and aware of their mindset. Tom is by far the best trainer. After going through several trainers, Tom has taught me how to be a better trainer. He uses verbal praise as reinforcement, no treats and my dogs now no longer rely on treats. Which is GREAT! I take all my pups to his training now. Tom Fisher is hands down the best dog trainer! I rescued a 2 year old Aussie that had lots of issues. Tom was able to evaluate him and explain to me why he behaved certain ways and he taught me how to help him overcome his 'issues". I have a "drop kick dog" as most people will call morkies. A lot of people think that little dogs cannot be trained but attending Tom's class that myth was broken. My dog is very well trained and i'm glad that I came to this dog training. He knows exactly what he is doing and he helps not only the dogs but helps the owner be a better training.
