Food was ok- not spectacular. Portion was decent sized. The flan was disappointing though.... See photo. I ordered take out in person. There weren't that many tables but I waited about 10 mins before someone was free to take my order. No big deal- I wasn't in a hurry.

Huge proportions, food is just OK imo. Got an Asada burrito, steak was pretty tough to chew unfortunately. GF got a bowl (!) of chicken tortilla soup, it must've been at least a quart and a half. Ended up taking a whole quart container home. The creamy green salsa they serve with the chips was unbelievably good, five stars for that.

As someone from Houston, Texas, with access to hundreds of Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants, I was initially skeptical but really enjoyed this place. The service was excellent, and the food quality was impressive, featuring great flavors and fresh vegetables. I would definitely return.

The only reason to make the drive to Breckenridge from the Springs is to stop at Casa Sanchez on the way home. Last ski season, my cousin introduced me to this gem, and we've since converted several other friends. It's now a tradition: Ski all day, then reward ourselves with the best food, biggest portions, friendliest service, and most delicious margaritas on the drive back. From the outside of this converted old cabin featuring a handlebar mustache logo, you wouldn't expect a hot fireplace and the best margaritas in Colorado, but trust me, you will become a believer in no time. The chicken tortilla soup can feed a family of four easily. I recommend sharing dishes or going a la carte unless you want to take home leftovers (we always do, which suits us just fine). Don't forget to put in your coffee order before you leave, too (it's still quite a drive after a long day of skiing unless you're staying in Fairplay). Salud!

    Carnitas and chicken burrito.

Delicious! First of all the portion size is enormous. The prices are more than fair. They serve two salsas with their chips which are unique and flavorful. We had great service as well. We received a "Mexican Dessert" on the house. It's a tequila shot. Lol. We can't wait to return.

The little restaurant next door is El Burro, a coffee, drinks, and breakfast fares. The two restaurants share a single outdoors area.

We were so excited to be passing by South Park where the town and buildings look just like they were from the TV show. When we saw this place we were like, "Ohhhh shaitttt, it's la Casa Bonita!" Traffic wasn't moving and one of us had to pee so this unceremonious visit didn't come with high expectation. This little restaurant was authentically Mexican, down to the waiter who spoke broken English and wore a shirt that said, "Kiss me I'm Mexican." Not sure if that line ever worked on anyone. We weren't even hungry but ordered a couple of popular dishes anyway. When the food came out, boy-o-boi were we surprised! The tacos were so flavorful without being overly seasoned. The Mexican rice was fluffy and well-cooked and the refried beans were nothing short of perfection. We especially love the ginormous carnitas dish. In fact, everything was ginormous at a reasonably cheap price. (Believe you me, this Texan know good and cheap Mexican food. LOL) Other pluses were the nice and clean bathrooms, no automatic 18%+ tip suggestion, and a nice dog-friendly patio with both covered and uncovered areas. Also, go have fun with the South Park cut out next door.

Lunch is more than enough for two or for two meals. I had the Burrito with shredded beef and my husband had the carnitas Burrito. Both had tender, well seasoned meat and the beans were super authentic. The server was quick and the service was super friendly! Definitely a family restaurant atmosphere. A fabulous Mexican meal in an unexpected small town!

I took a bite before the PIC! Fried Chili Relleno the front right, chimichanga behind that, rice and beans on the left.

What a find when we were out on the road. Small town but a great place to eat. It's old and small but the service was fantastic, the food was the same and even though it was old, it was clean. I had the Two Option Plate with a fried Chili Relleno with shredded beef & cheese and a Chimichanga with shredded beef. The Chimichanga was very good but was filled only with beef, lots of it. A good cheese sauce covered it with some veg on top. The fried Chili Relleno was the best I've ever eaten...anywhere. It was short and fat with a not too hot chili, wonderful, shredded beef in amazing, melted cheddar cheese. The batter was crispy and light, giving it a great texture contrast with the rich cheese and beef. The bite with the crispy chili, tender shredded beef and a smooth, rich, melted cheddar cheese was simply sinful. Do yourself a favor and stop in if you are passing through. I will say though, they give big portions and I should have only had the single choice option.

It makes you instantly hungry and has a way of making you forget about skiing or any other plans. I went with the two street tacos for $20. I chose the Elk and the Steak, opting for double black beans instead of rice to keep the diet right. Both were fantastic; the succulent steak provided a perfect balance to the leaner elk. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by its chips and salsa, and Mi Casa delivered a great trio: a fresh pico, a solid medium verde, and a "light you up" option for those who want the heat. The bar serves a solid Ranch Water with true Topo Chico instead of club soda from the gun, and my son gave the kids' quesadilla a strong report. The interior is well-executed--it transports you without feeling kitschy. The staff was attentive and friendly throughout. Overall, a reality-based "win" for a post-mountain meal.

Needless to say while walking in, the restaurant is huge but there was a bunch of empty tables. Odd. Our poor waitress was divided between 2 tables because our party of 9 couldn't be sat together. So I'm only assuming it threw her off her game some. It was a disaster. We ordered cocktails from the bar and everything came out scattered. My drink was okay but it wasn't strained properly and still had ice floating around. For entree, I got the chicken enchiladas with a red sauce which comes with a side of rice and beans. It was meh. Tastes okay for where you're at but nothing great. Half our party on one table was served way earlier than our half. So it felt very unorganized. Even when we finished eating and walked out, there was a bunch of tables empty. Pretty sure they could've sat us all together. Not to mention even though our group was split amongst 2 tables, we were hit with a 20% service charge.

No dogs allowed in the patio unless it's a service dog fyi. They have a little patch of artificial green grass next to the patio. For you dog to chill and whine at you. We were served by at least four different employees and everyone was pleasant. They were honest about what was good and what wasn't and we needed up with cheap margs and great food. I had the Herradura Trio which was exceptional amount of food for the price and cooked perfectly. Definitely worth the price and too much for one sitting. Lots of leftovers if that's your thing. The taco and enchilada combo was good too especially if you are not THAT hungry. Chips and salsa were great. Bottomless. So is the soda. We had HH margs for $7.50 that got us buzzed fast. Afternoon breeze in the patio was perfect and made for a much better experience than our mosquito infested campground. lol They can accommodate groups up to 25+ and they have plenty of staff to get the job done fast.

Had a spice to it and consistency was good. The steak burrito was large and had three different sauces. Margaritas were large and sweet. Spicy Mango marg was a bit too sweet but the Blackberry was perfect. It's a mountain Mexican restaurant, a little dive-y but a lot of locals. Appeared to be an old Burger King maybe? The clutter could be picked up and it would look much nicer.
