The restaurant is not located in a place we go often but very easy parking. The server (and maybe cook?) was absolutely fantastic. The tables have white tablecloths and very nice dining chairs except the chairs do not have much padding. The napkins are paper towels. The FOOD is absolutely delicious. The rice is great and the meat is very flavorful. With that said, the prices on their menu are higher than what I had seen initially online so it does seem like prices have gone up quite a bit recently. We had not been to Silver Skewers for probably 10 years just because we had numerous other places that are closer to us. However, we are glad that we went because the food was as good as we remember!! Everything was was fresh, tasty and well prepared even though we went at 2PM. The salmon was a little overcooked (dry), the lamb was perfectly prepared and the chicken was just slightly overcooked. The grilled vegetables were excellent but we thought the serving size was a little small. The rice was excellent and plentiful and their tperian iced tea is superb. The server, Martin , was excellent and attentive. Like the ambiance, the place looks the same as it did when we used to go many years ago but it still looks fresh and clean. I was shocked that Waldorf, a fairly depressing area, had a restaurant like this. Silver Skewers is warm and inviting, with an amazing owner who is so friendly. The menu is small and high focused, which is appreciated. We loved our dinner. We ordered chicken, lamb, and kubideh kabobs, which come with rice and vegetables. You are started off with bread and salad. Everything was great. I don't think I can choose a favorite kabob because they were all delicious. I really enjoyed the spicy green sauce and the generous use of sumac. The rice is excellent. Nestled in a small strip mall in Waldorf this restaurant offers delicious tasting food that is rich in seasonings and topped off with a very spicy, but great tasting tandoori sauce. Our meals came with a complimentary salad and warm bread, the dressing was oil based and tasted great. For our meals I had the ribeye and house kabob while my wife had the chicken. The ribeye kabob was cooked to perfect, a nice medium rare, and the house tasted great. When topped with the tandoori sauce these two are rich in flavor. The meals however are saturated in oils, and butter, if you're not fond of rich tasting food, you may not like the amount they used because it's heavy. But, when you top it off with the tandoori sauce you'll get a rich tasting of sweet and savory just spicy. My wife had the chicken kabob which was also perfectly cooked. The rice, and veggies accompanying the meal were grilled and grilled well. Too often I've had over cooked veggies, but these still had some crunch to them meaning they were pulled off just at the right time. This is my favorite restaurant in Waldorf. Food is delicious and I love the two sisters that own it. They always say hello and check in which is very rare these days. I left stars because of service Now the food, when we were ordering we were told the house kabab was all out (restaurant was open for like 30 mins and half empty) ok no problem we ordered another combo that was not listed because pretty much every combo came with the house kabab which was unavailable. Anyway, we get our food, and the portions are SMALL! 4 pieces of chicken, 5 pieces of TINY lamb, and literally 7 spoonfuls of rice (yes, I was petty and counted!) This is NOT the Persian way. Even the fancy Persian restaurants in DC have bigger portions for the same price point! I found the lack of rice highly offensive to my culture. Anyway, long story short, we get the bill, and instead of being charged for a combo price, they charged us for "pick any two combos," which is almost $8 more per plate. How is that ok when you didn't have what we wanted and forced us to pick any two?? Not ok! I wanted to like this place, but the nickle and diming of patrons left a bad taste in my mouth, plus which persian restaurant has such small potions?? I've never seen it this small before. Even the people next to us felt ripped off. I didn't complain because I don't think it was on Bree, and management should have better systems in place. I would drive to Vienna, VA, and pay the same amount (less even) and get delicious food and then some for leftovers. read more

Then came covid, changes in staff and inability to eat on premises for what became a ridiculous extended period of time while other restaurants were becoming back to normal they continued to operate like ft Dietrich. After reopening finally it was noticeable their food had changed and no longer was as fabulous as it had been in the past. I typically order to go but this time I decided to eat in the dining room. My mother and I were asked what we would like to drink. We both said water with ice. We were brought bottles of water. I should have asked why but didn't. When I went to pay for the food, we were charged $8 for the 2 bottles of water. I inquired why and was told that they could not serve tap water - it was supposedly in the news about it. I wish they would have informed me in advance that there was a charge for water - $8!!!!
