I've been to Galazio before and have generally had good experiences, which is why this visit was so disappointing. I came in specifically because I wanted fresh, brick oven-style pizza and did not want chain-style pizza. I ordered the Pandora pizza from the menu because it was advertised with pepperoni, tomato, and fresh mozzarella. That detail mattered to me. I intentionally chose that specialty pizza instead of building my own because fresh mozzarella has a very different taste and quality than the standard low-moisture shredded cheese used on many pizzas. When the pizza came out, it did not taste or look like fresh mozzarella was used. It tasted more like a frozen or chain pizza, which was exactly what I was trying to avoid. When I asked the waiter about it, I was told they did not have fresh mozzarella, even though the menu clearly advertised it. After going back and forth, the server brought out different cheeses, including what appeared to be fresh mozzarella, which only made the situation more confusing. They then remade the pizza with burrata, but it was not properly prepared. The burrata was just placed on top in cold/lukewarm globs and was not melted into the pizza. It was not appetizing and did not resolve the issue. The service got worse from there. After I raised the issue, the waiter stopped coming back to the table. The owner ended up bringing out the additional items I ordered, including dessert. When the bill came, they tried to charge me for both pizzas even though the first pizza was the result of their menu/service issue and was still sitting on the table. I had to push back to have it removed, and the response felt dismissive and unpleasant, as if I was wrong for speaking up. My issue is not that mistakes happen. My issue is that the menu advertised fresh mozzarella, the pizza did not reflect that, the replacement was poorly executed, and the service response made me feel like a problem instead of a returning customer with a valid concern. For pizza specifically, I would not recommend it. If the quality is going to taste like chain pizza, I may as well go to Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Ledo's, or Little Caesars and pay accordingly. read more

This was my third time coming to this restaurant, and I honestly couldn't believe the service and food quality this time around. When I walked in, the host -- who was not very friendly -- asked how many were in my party. I said "1," and she immediately told me I would have to sit at the bar, even though there were several open tables. I politely asked if I could sit at one of the two-top tables, but she said no because they were for reservations. I explained that I preferred not to sit at the bar. Looking back, I probably should have left then, but I was hungry, so I stayed. Once seated, I asked for the crab dip, only to find out they no longer had it. I then ordered the lamb chops, which I had enjoyed during my previous two visits. This time, however, they came out extremely pink and undercooked. I was shocked. The waitress told me they "don't cook them well done," but offered to take them back and have them cooked a little longer. Unfortunately, when they returned, they were still pink/red and literally bleeding. The waitress then said she was going to get "Mama" from the back. I told her that wasn't necessary if the restaurant simply does not prepare lamb chops well done anymore. I was very disappointed and didn't realize things had changed over the last few months. Despite being a weekday, the dining room was notably busy, buzzing with the energy of what feels like a family-run establishment. There's a warmth to the atmosphere, personal, lived-in, and authentic, that suggests a loyal local following. That said, it was clear the crowd may have slightly outpaced staffing levels. While the service itself was courteous and attentive, there were noticeable delays with drinks and refills, understandable, though worth mentioning. We started with the Southern Maryland Crab Dip, which delivered solid flavor and a generous blend of cheese and crab. I would have welcomed a bit more artichoke heart for balance, and perhaps an additional slice or two of bread. With only four slices provided, the ratio leaned heavily in favor of the dip, fortunate in abundance, but impractical in execution, as even those slices were quickly overwhelmed. The Chicken Kabob proved to be a reliable and satisfying choice, tender, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully plated. The accompanying sides of sautéed broccoli and grilled zucchini were properly portioned, with the zucchini sliced just thick enough to retain its texture and flavor. When deciding between the Makaronia Me Kima, Basil Pesto, Galazio Special Carbonara, and Pastitsio, I deferred to the waiter's recommendation. Without hesitation, he pointed to the Pastitsio, a choice that paid off. Comforting and familiar, it's a dish many have enjoyed in different forms without necessarily knowing its proper name. The portion was generous enough to leave me with leftovers, which made for an excellent lunch the following day. Dessert brought the evening to a high note with the Greek Chocolate Mousse Cake. Lighter than expected, it avoided the density often associated with chocolate desserts while still delivering richness and satisfaction. The portion was ample and easily shareable. Overall, it was a very good dining experience, welcoming, flavorful, and largely well-executed. One small disappointment, however, came in the form of a missed detail. When booking, the reservation notes requested acknowledgment of my GF's birthday, not a complimentary dessert or special treatment, just a simple candle to mark the occasion. Unfortunately, it went unnoticed. It's a minor thing in the grand scheme, but one that matters in moments meant to be remembered. Had I known it wouldn't be honored, I would have brought a candle myself. That aside, the experience was still a positive one. I would recommend the restaurant and expect to return. Overall I was impressed. It's been a while since I've visited Galazio's. The main reason for me going was the Captain OBO pizza. Yummy'! I wish it had a bit more crab meat but it was still good. I also had the calamari which was good but a bit salty. The crème brûlée could have been cooked a little longer. I sat at the bar and Claire, the bartender was great. She made an awesome El Dablio and was attentive. I love that the restaurant is small and quaint. It did however get very crowded for a Tuesday night. read more

Galazios absolutely deserves five stars. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The manager and his wife took the time to engage with customers, help prepare drinks, food and were very courteous while training their new bartender -- it really showed their commitment to great service. The food was excellent, and the Greek chickpeas were the highlight of my meal. I'm used to curry chickpeas and usually not a fan of red sauce, but this dish completely changed my mind -- it was full of flavor and perfectly prepared. Hopping place on a Saturday night! This is where people come for a nice dinner out. In fairness, we came the night before Mother's Day and it was prom season - rookie move, us. They got us seated after a short wait and we perused the menu. After seeing the big brick oven outside, my kids knew they were getting pizza. My wife and I decided to eat Mezze-style, so we ordered a bunch of small plates and enjoyed them as they arrived. Everything was delicious! Dolmades with delicious avgolemono sauce, the trio of dips with pita, and of course, flambéed saganaki (my kids were fascinated by this. A week later when my child saw a small fire, he said "just squeeze some lemons over it!"). There is a decent cocktail menu (my wife got a the Greek Old Fashioned) as well as a respectable offering of wines (including many Greek ones). While I mentioned they were packed when we went, the staff busted their butts to take care of us and the other customers. I believe the owner was taking care of us and absolutely representative of the word "hospitality." Despite his haste, he took time to talk to us and make sure everything was great. Nice touch. I enjoyed my meal but for the first time I had to send my filet mignon back because it was over cooked. The waiter was visibly annoyed that I didn't want to keep my sides while I wait for my steak to be re-cooked. The second filet was cooked just right. Hands down 5 Stars, my Date Night of Perfection at Galazio! I had a wonderful couples double date at Galazio and was blown away by the entire experience. The atmosphere was romantic and quaint--perfect for a cozy evening out. The ambiance set the tone for an intimate dinner, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming or kind. From start to finish, we felt genuinely cared for. We kicked things off with a shared bottle of white wine, and I had the Dark and Stormy--a bold and refreshing cocktail made with Bumbu, muddled limes, sugar syrup, and ginger beer. For appetizers, we ordered the Keftedaika (Greek-style meatballs) served with house yogurt, and the Kalamari, which was lightly floured, flash-fried, and served with fresh lemon. Both were delicious and perfectly portioned to share. For my entrée, I went with the lamb over a bed of seasoned rice, topped with a rich red sauce and served with tender zucchini. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor--definitely the star of the evening. Every bite was comforting and full of that classic Greek heartiness. My wife had one of the pizzas. She mentioned it could've used a bit more sauce, but still said it was tasty. I was too full to try it, but it smelled incredible. Absolutely phenomenal spot! The tzatziki sauce was incredible -- so fresh and flavorful, honestly one of the best I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and everything tasted super fresh. They were a little stingy on the feta (even after paying for extra), but the flavors overall totally made up for it. I'd recommend skipping the fries and trying another side instead. The calamari, unfortunately, was a miss for me, but everything else was fantastic. We do not understand this restaurant we love Greek food and Greek chicken with Greek potatoes or some of my favorite foods. But they forgot the flavor and it was $24. It was a big piece of chicken. My partner had a pasta with a meat sauce for $24 as well and this one made no sense whatsoever. We didn't even get some bread and butter with our food. I do not understand this restaurant. Loving the decoration right now. Went in hungry left stuffed. We had a great family dinner apps of cream of soup , full of chunks of crab, hummus with excellent grilled pita, must be homemade tasted very fresh, and creamy hummus with great flavor. Hubby and I had kebab plates. The beef kebab was rib eye chunks grilled with green peppers and onions. So good. Loved the grilled flavoring. And hubby had the house kebab great lamb and beef with red sauce and tzatziki sauce. Daughters loved her grilled chicken plate with Greek fries. Like waffle fries but so creamy inside. And crispy outside. Waiter was great to with his suggestions. Overall fantastic meal. Oh oh. And we got a Pandora pizza and I love the flavor of the pepperoni. So great. It has been a couple years since I had last been here. Started out with the hummus. It did not taste like any hummus I had ever had before to include Greece. Had a strong cumin taste which instead of making for a refreshing appetizer turned it into a bean chili taste. Then ordered two pizzas. One was charred and one was undercooked. Tasted like cheap canned and pre-prepped from the supplier ingredients. Very bland and had to add salt. Wanted a good meal, so disappointing. read more

I may be biased because I am a fan of this type of cuisine, but nevertheless, they're truly a treasure to the area. Something that makes them special is that they provide free Thanksgiving dinners to the community. So let's get into it. The service is neighborhood quality with a smile. Our food has always arrived in a timely manner, hot and delicious. The cost is fair as compared to other Greek/Mediterranean options in the DMV. Galazio is, in every sense of the word, a neighborhood restaurant. Meaning, the decor is simple, yet unique to the intended mood, it's located in the middle of a strip shopping center, and there's really no need to advertise. They are, quite frankly, a part of the community. As for the food, some of my favorites are the chicken kabob dinner, the feta cheese burger (so good), or gyro dinner. (I'm literally getting hungry as I list these options) Be sure to get the pita/naan bread with the kabobs, Also, the Greek fries are a must. So check them out!! Food is pricey but worth it as the portions are larger and the food is delicious. I've had the gyro wrap as well as the souvlaki platter many times, and it is consistently delicious. The Greek fries are good as well if you prefer that as a side. The tzatziki tastes like it's made in house and it is so good! I love it with the pita bread. The picana steak and beef Galazio kabobs are also good options to try as well. The restaurant gives off a cozy vibe and is dimly lit. It's more of a local spot and due to the usually larger groups that frequent the place, it is very animated inside in terms of noise level. They also had an outdoor seating area but unfortunately it is adjacent to the large parking lot. However, it is nice to have the option to dine outdoors when the weather permits. Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for Greek food! read more

We visited on a Saturday night. When we arrived there was no wait and we were able to be seated right away. On the way in we noticed a specials board sitting outside, but didn't see them posted anywhere inside. Our waitress took an extended amount of time to come to our table so we went outside and took a picture of the specials so we could look at all of the options....and it's a good thing we did that because she never told us herself what they were. We were brought water, was told she was bringing bread for the tables, and then waited a long time for the drink menu before she disappeared again. We put in drinks and an appetizer, and before we could tell her we were ready to order our entree also she walked away...and was gone for a while!! The owner finally came over and took the order for us, and covered our table for the rest of the night. We had the calamari appetizer which I thought was good but was just a little too heavy on the breading for me. I ordered the Captain OBO pizza which I thought was pretty good. And another person at the table ordered the lamb special which was also good. We never got the bread that the waitress mentioned, so I'm not sure if that's included with the visit or not. We went on a lunch date today and tried out Galazio's for the first time. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy. It's a cute spot. The service was great. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was good and portions were generous. He got a chicken pesto pasta and I got an Athena burger with Greek fries. The drinks were decent. The wife and I took my sister for dinner, I had heard the food was good and wanted to try it. We were all amazed, The portions were big and delicious even the side dishes were amazing. We were served by Ricardo, who didn't set your food in front of you but made it a presentation. Ricardo did not hover over you or forget you were there, he made himself available and was a hand gesture away. We even split a piece of chocolate mousse cake and espressos. We stayed for over an hour catching up with my sister, the atmosphere was warm and light. One of our best restaurant experiences in a long time. read more

Their patio wasn't busy when we visited for lunch but I can see it packed here on a nice day. Decided to come have lunch out on the patio today. The food is ALWAYS amazing when I visit. This time I remembered to do a review. As you. A see I already started digging in. Lamb chops are grilled and seasoned just right. The zucchini was grilled as well and had a light seasoning to it. Every element of my meal was perfect and not overlapping. The owner who was very pleasant checked on us a few times and I can tell he takes pride in the quality of everything. The waiter was also cool. Galazios is always well worth my money. Wonderful food, service and comfortable atmosphere! Stumbled on this while driving on our way home from vacation. Our dog was welcomed and our waitress knowledgeable and attentive. The owner also spoke to us. Great wine selection and cocktail menu--we had a glass of Malbec and an old-fashioned. Tasty hot crab dip appetizer, followed by a perfectly cooked filet mignon and grilled salmon. Sides (greens, spinach, rice pilaf and broccoli between the two of us) were also excellent. The baklava was stale. The Moussaka was slopped into a container unrecognizable. The spanakopita was too dry. But it was a nice-looking restaurant and quite dismissive of my carry-out order. I would probably have rated this a 5/5 if the service was just SLIGHTLY better (and they fly attacks) but the food was absolutely amazing! We came here for my dad's birthday lunch/early dinner and he was very please I order the brick oven pizza and the creamy spinach. The pizza was just the right amount of spice. It reminded me a lot of a crab dip pizza, except BETTER! The creamy spinach had a sweetness to it that balanced it well. I did try a piece of the steak which was seasoned extremely well and the shrimp had the PERFECT amount of seasoning/spice. Overall I would definitely come back to try some more Mediterranean dishes, but hopefully with better service and less flies. read more

Galazio had outside seating, so we frequent this place a lot It is a very quaint Greek restaurant located on Rt. 301. Customer service is always on point. The food is always excellent. They have a extensive wine and drink menu. This time I chose the lobster ravioli which I will definitely recommend. My sister chose the shrimp dish I can't remember the name of it. This place was just okay to me, but overpriced for what you get. A soup, salad, and appletini ran me about $40 after tip. The crab soup was okay, but just okay with not a lot of crabs chunks- very cream heavy. The salad was refreshing but $9 for a lot of chunks of tomato that weren't bite sized and awkward chunks of cucumber make working thru it a bit difficult. The set up, although in a dated shopping center, is quaint, cute and has a unique vibe. Fun selection of Mediterranean wines inc ones from Greece. The outdoor seating area has lots of hanging flowers and lights- would make a good date spot esp considering the area (not a ton of options).
