He is in debt of nearly $5,000 and refuses to pay, and now we are having to proceed into collections and obtain an attorney. Mr. Diaz was convicted today of operating a business without a contractors license. If you are an older person, as we are, be careful. He promises a lot, but does not deliver. If you are uncertain, check with the contractor's board or the Douglas County D.A's office. We pursued restitution and it was very stressful. We did this so hopefully, no other senior would be taken advantage of. Mr. Diaz pleaded guilty to operating his business without a contractors license, He operated under Battle Born Fence and now it is called Silver Strike. Same person. We just moved into a new house before we had the first windstorm, which caused part of our back fence to bow in and cracked a 4x4 from top to bottom. I knew about having postmaster supports put in from a previous house, so looked for fence contractors on the internet and found Silver Strike, who was also located close by. The owner responded right away and had the postmasters installed the same week. The cost was less than I anticipated, too. Unfortunately, I am having to retract my previous review. Seems after we had our big wind event in Washoe Valley a couple of weeks ago, my one post got upended by the tree next to it. Called SSF for an estimate to help repair as the was obviously outside a warranty issue. SSF came back with a very high price ($5K) which included the tree removal. When asked for just post resetting, I received nothing from SSF. So, I hired a tree removal company and had the tree removed and found that only, at best, 2 bags of concrete was all that was put to hold the 8' post. Needless to say not nearly enough to support the post and gate. But the tree was the issue. Without any other feedback from SSF for a week plus, I finally decide to re-install the post/gate with most work performed by my wife and daughter. Ended up costing one day's work and 8 bags of concrete. Way less than the $5k originally quoted by SSF. Even with the cost of the tree removal, I saved over $4k and the job was done within 2 weeks. One would think that responsiveness from an installer would be of importance to one's business. Too bad, but I am hard pressed to even consider recommending SSF for any future work to friends/neighbors. read more
