We called for a quote after a crazy winter, where the snow had built up on our honeysuckle and pulled our chain link fence over. Discussing all of our details with Benjamin Florence who worked with us initially for our estimate. Our property is in South Lake Tahoe. Ben was a great listener to capture all of our needs for the high end fence. He was very detailed oriented with the estimate contract and follow up computer generated details of our design with gates, etc. Very professional. I contacted Florence Fence company a little over a month ago to get a quote on a chain-link fence for our backyard. My call was returned right away and they were able to schedule my FREE estimate for the next day. Ben showed up right on time, was friendly and thorough. I also learned that this is a family business which is always great to work with! I got the fence quote (with a nice breakdown of the pricing) in about a week. The price was less than other quotes we have gotten for the same size fence which was nice to see especially since they are the ones to do the install...they don't contract out. Ben contacted me to follow up a few days later to make sure that if I had questions, I could get them answered. While my family is not financially in the place to do our fence immediately, we now know how much to save and which company we will go with when the time is right. I purchased everything from Lowes and thoroughly botched the job. My posts weren't plumb, they rose and fell in height, and zigzaged along my string line. They fixed the mistakes I made, they worked with all the materials I had already purchased, and they didn't mock my shoddy job. Florence Fencing installed over 400 feet of wire fencing on a very uneven and rocky hill for us in December 2015. It was a challenging project and we expected several problems. However the fencing was installed in a little over 2 days and it exceeds our expectations. We contacted several local companies to get an initial estimate but only Florence Fencing was prompt in responding to our request. The estimator measured the project and provided a written estimate. Our only hesitation was the fact that they were really booked up for several weeks. However once I explained our desire to get the job done sooner they were able to work us into the schedule. We were lucky that they had an unexpected gap in their projects. At the completion of the project the work site was left clean. The workers were hard working and on time both days. My mom had florence fence rebuild her gate. They gave her a bid of 1005.00. That included new posts. When they showed up to do the job the man told her she didn't need new posts. My mom took his word for it. Well within 2 weeks we had a bad wind storm and it ripped the new gate off the supposedly good posts. When my mom called them back they charged her another 500.00 to replace the posts that she already paid for and didn't get. When she told me about it I called them to straighten things out. They said there was nothing they could do about it they don't guarantee damage from wind. Long story short they wouldn't budge even though it was there fault for not replacing the posts in the first place. Had they replaced the posts the fence would be still standing. I would not recommend this company to anyone terrible customer service. I gave it 1 star so it would not be deleted. read more

Florence fence jerks people around. We had a price for a fence post replacement and when we got down to their office within 30 minutes to get a written bid they raised the price $40. They seem to always be changing their mind on prices. Verbal agreements are not worth anything because you can't get them to put it in writing. read more
