STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS AT ALL COST. -- Your rep dropped off my fridge's computer board yesterday 3/19, 5 weeks after you pulled it on 2/14 to send it for repair. You did not send the board for repair as you had misrepresented multiple times in writing, but instead intentionally, maliciously, and negligently held onto it. I have paid you $1296 since your first visit on 1/12 for "repair" of my fridge that's been dead since then, and you have clearly failed to provide those repair services. Appliances manufacturers are no longer or currently making this type of fridge, in this size (due to covid). So we either had to buy something that was not authentically pleasing to the wife or try to repair our 15 year old fridge. After extensive research and consultation we decided to go with a repair. After assessing the issue, a broken compressor, Steven the owner of Magic outlined our options and gave us a reasonable quote. We moved forward with the repair. He spent over 7 hours, 3 visits to our home and tried to fix with several new compressors. After all this, he discovered that the fridge had more serious issues and needed an even bigger investment to repair, another $1000. Essentially the cooling coils were not working, which had caused the orginal compressor to seize. With this conclusion we were all very frustrated. His initial quote to repair was near $1000. Which was acceptable for fridge which has a replacement value in excess of $5000. After all his time, his labor and all the parts he purchased, he declined getting paid, even though we insisted he get paid something. We were insistent. However he declined. His honesty and integrity with this repair job is very impressive. Very few people in the trades, especially in NYC, would have walked away from this disaster without expecting to get paid. Steven is a first class businessman and a all around good human. The negatative reviews here do not add up. I would highly recommend him, his business and his employees (who have also done great work for me over the years) to anyone looking for referral for any type of appliance or AC repair. Magic is a good business. Sad more people are not so honest as Steven at Magic.

I've learned over the years that installation services provided by companies that sell appliances a) try to do the fastest job possible (not the best job as they get paid by how many they do not how well they do them) and b) cannot do anything besides just plug in the appliance (if anything extra is needed, they will not or are not allowed to do it). Therefore, I prefer to hire someone to handle my appliance needs. I called about 10 different places - most were unavailable or unwilling to come to where I live. Steven's called me on the phone quickly and met me the same day. They clearly explained what I would need to complete the installation (including instructions for electrical work needed), purchased the necessary parts and within 2 days the job was all done. ' That might be "check mate" for many 40 year olds, but because I'm still in touch with the youth... I knew to get on "Da Amazon" Even with my extensive knowledge of everything hip, including online shopping... I was unable to match the right part number and I could not be sure I'd be getting the right belt. As much as I'd wanted to give up at this point and hit the couch for some NAScar! But..... I was able to recover and stumble across of cross a very convenient and easy answer to my problems that had Already taken up a good part of my early afternoon. After a 2 minute phone call with a very nice salesman I had learned that the store was 1 town over, they had the exact part needed in stock and they'd be open for a few more hours. (This left time for a mandatory White Castle excursion... But that is a horse for a different rodeo!)I must have passed by this exact location a 1000 times without ever noticing AFCO. was there. By looking at the lettering on the signs I could tell this location HAD been there my entire life, the store gave me a special nostalgic feeling it even shares its storefront with a travel agency!!! I felt as if I was walking back into my childhood as I walked in the door. Once inside AFCO I was greeted by a very nice and knowledgeable saleswomen, the very same from my earlyer phone call, who did remember speaking to me earlier and had my belt put aside Within 2 to 3 minutes I had paid for the belt and I was on my way with full confidence that I had exactly the part I needed to finish the job If I had known AFCO existed it would have been my first stop and will definitely be my first stop going forward... before the big box stores or the Wild Wild West of the internet! Sometimes the shopping giants cannot compare to the service, knowledge, and convenience you get from a mom and pop type of location.. He said this particular washer is foreign and he is not able to work on it, so I said thats fine and proceeded to call other appliance repair shops. Everyone said the same thing "its foreign and they don't work on these particular washers" I was running out of places to call, and thought it would be better to buy a brand new washer.
