Update on my prior review. Walter called and texted me and stated he would refund my service charge of 92 dollars on Monday......that never happened. Also regarding his response to my prior review, he never offered to come over to get the part number after the model number could not be read. He was about to order the wrong part which cost 100 dollars more. Also stating that i had to give him an answer so he can secure the part from his supplier which would take a few days to get. How does this story end. I ordered the part from an online authorized dealer $173. Part was delivered Monday. Eight screws later and my oven is back up and running. He was in a rush according to my wife. Was on the phone with another customer telling hum he would be right over. If he just would have taken a few minutes to remove the cover the part number was right there (see photo). 92 bucks for absolutely nothing, 10 minutes time. I feel that I was scammed. Walter, very nice, came over, never looked at my oven and said I needed a control panel. Charged me $90 dollars. Called the next day and quoted me $511 for a wrong part. I had to give him the correct part number so he lowered the price to $411. Part cost $173. I have no problem paying for work or parts. He initially told me that the service fee will come off the total price, that was a lie. Please be careful using this company, at first they promise you the world but in the end they lie. My gas dryer stopped working (spins but no heat) I called Walter. Gave him make model and age of dryer. He said he carries many parts and there was a good chance that he could fix on one trip. He showed up and changed his story. Told me dryer is so old there may not be parts available. He did not do any troubleshooting (e.g. he could have and should have tested the thermal heat fuse with a multimeter) He said he was going to see if he could get parts and call me back. He spent only a few minutes here and collected $75.00 I then did some research online on common causes of spin no heat. Top on the list was blown thermal heat fuse. Google with my model number for parts and found several sites that had parts for my old dryer. I bought a fuse for $15 plus shipping. That particular fuse is common part for many different model dryers, and you would think an experienced repair person would know that. The site had a video of how to replace it. I changed the fuse and the dryer works again. More than a week later and he never called me back as promised. read more

Oven stopped working. Repairman came soon after, diagnosed the issue, worked diligently to get the needed part, and came as soon as the part came and fixed our oven. He even stayed until 9 PM to make sure the job was done. Highly recommend! We've used them before, but Google won't let us review twice. read more

Unfortunately I had a very poor experience with First Call Appliance Service today. I got their name through my home warranty company. John from First Appliance called me two days ago to tell me that they had an opening to troubleshoot my dryer from 3 PM to 8 PM today. John called yesterday to confirm that I was going to be here between three and eight today and I told him I would be. I had to rearrange my schedule to accommodate this. Today at 12 o'clock I decided to head out to do some errands and I called him to double check to make sure that I would be home when as he said the tech would arrive between 3 and 8 pm. John assured me that the tech would be there much later because he had many calls and it was going to be late in the day so I continued with my errands and arrived home just after 4 PM with no word from John as to when the mechanic would arrive. After waiting until well after 7 PM for a phone call I called and left a message two times and got no response until finally John called me to tell me that the mechanic was not showing up today because the tech apparently had some kind of fugazy emergency. He also tried to blame it on me that I wasn't home. If anything, I over communicated. After all I need my dryer fixed. I said I would be home whenever he needed me to be home. Poor communication and a somewhat suspect excuse as to why his mechanic wasn't here today. Then JOHN tells me that he has an opening tomorrow in the afternoon. I asked for a morning appointment but that wasn't possible. Some people have to work. This is unacceptable so I told him that I did not want to deal with him any longer. I'm sorry but when you make a commitment to have someone there between three and eight and I spend a whole day waiting for that appointment to happen and it never happens, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. My dryer broke the other night and I was upset - need my dryer. A friend recommended First Call Appliance Service in Elmont. I called and Walter from First Call responded promptly. He was at my house the next day. Fixed my dryer and took time to explain to me what he did and how to work my dryer so I don't have any more problems with it. He was so nice and very professional and very clean with the repair. And The repair price was great. I heard a lot of horror stories about appliance repair services. Walter at First Call changed my mind about this. He was great. He did a great job - great price - I highly recommend them. I will definitely use them if anything goes wrong with any of my appliances.
