The kinda cool place I imagine Bruce H. rides into for a solid meal after a morning ride on his Harley through the back roads of Irvine, but before stopping at Cook's Corner - iykyk. Not much activity when we stopped in, Saturday 5/31 just after 12:30pm. Locals reading newspapers at the counter and lingering over coffee, chatting up the latest gossip. Two ladies finishing a long catch-up conversation over brunch and low key, friendly folks cooking up good food. A shelf along the wall just inside the door is a welcome spot for helmets and two solo riders stopped in for a bite while we were there. Don't sleep on Silverado! Yeah, blink and you'll miss it, but there's civic pride and it's the type of small town Angelenos think of when they want to disappear for a spell. The Silverado Cafe has a lot of interesting historical artifacts, local lore and a building that may have been one of the first commercial buildings here. We were on our way to Arden: Helena Modjeska House and Silverado Cafe was the perfect place to stop for a bite along the way. Hubs selected the 2 egg w/beef patty, substituting crinkle fries for Country Potatoes, and I chose the 2 egg Popeye Omelette: Polish sausage, spinach, mushroom, onion & Swiss cheese, also substituting in crinkle fries. While I always hope I'm getting actual Swiss cheese, I rarely - hardly ever - do, so in a small cafe I expected, and received, processed "Swiss" cheese. Everything else was fresh and satisfying. Even Hubs' burger looked hand formed/fresh, so kudos for that! Prices were below what we've paid in recent months, and portions were plentiful. Staff stayed on top of coffee refills and pleasantly checking in on us without hovering. They know what they're doing here at the Silverado Cafe, so we shall return. Cheers! "CC"

What a great spot to grab a bite after a long hike. Friendly service, nice selection, and awesome staff make this eatery perfect for catching up with friends and gearing up for a great weekend. Seating is plentiful and there are options for large and small parties. The food was great!

Simple but solid!

Super solid cafe food, great service, old school interior that makes you feel like you're not in Orange County in a good way... reminded me of a simpler time! The onion rings were really good! The breakfast burrito was good but came with no salsa which was a bummer. Friends had burgers and said they were great.

A hidden gem filled with locals with a happy and friendly staff. Walking into the cafe sends you back to old school diner vibes. I ordered an off the menu machaca breakfast burrito. The beef was tender and tasty, the home fried potatoes were crispy and salted perfectly. My buddies' chili verde burrito was filled with big chunks of pork. The service was fast and attentive and great prices! Will definitely come back when in this area again!

Came here as we were at a dog show in Oak Canyon park and restaurant was listed as dog friendly. There is only 1 table available the chairs are disintegrating and you have to go inside to order. The food was very good tho and staff friendly when you can catch them

Charming, rustic, small cafe with great service and food. My go to when hiking in the area. Large, yummy portions at reasonable prices.

I really wanted to love this place but I think my favorite part about it was the service and the scenic drive out to it. It's a tiny little country diner nestled in a canyon in eastern Orange County. It really feels like you are leaving the city and it's very tranquil and quiet surrounding the restaurant. The food quality was honestly nothing special and being that I go to diners often every month, the meal itself was not very memorable, but we still had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant itself is pretty small, they don't have any outside seating, everything is indoor, but they do have booth, table, and counter seating. There's also a free parking lot attached in the dirt lot right next to the restaurant. Our server was really polite and we were actually the only two people dining for breakfast on Friday morning, which we thought was pretty unusual. We arrived around 10 AM as well so it wasn't at opening. I started off with a Cinnamon Roll for the table, and this is my favorite part of the meal. It was really tasty and very filling. I wish there would've been a stronger cinnamon flavor, and more glaze, but that's just my personal preference. For my breakfast, I chose the Chicken Fried Steak and thought it was overly cooked. It was almost too crispy so the flavor was really cooked out of it. The gravy on top also had ham pieces in it, which can be a nice touch, but I thought it took away from the steak flavor. My eggs were also a little overcooked so all in all the food quality was not my favorite part of the meal. I would suggest to anyone in the area to try it at least once because it is a really unique place to have a quick and casual meal.

Amazing rustic place . I just love this gem . It feels like you are in some Mexican cafe in a movie set . Priced fairly reasonable . Brunch will run you about $10-15 depending on your dish . I had the Chirazo & eggs breakfast . Would highly recommend any of their burritos . Service was attentive and excellent .

The most authentic, one of the oldest relic from the past when Mexico was the ruler of this piece of heaven in the edge of the American Western Ocean front real estate, the northeastern region of old Irvine Ranch now hosts few scattered town made up of old cowboy homes and bars and this Mexican American Diner. When someone says that they ate at a hole in the wall diner, they most likely mean this place. The place is the model of a dive. Every little bit of this restaurant is a true representation of Hole in the Wall, Relics of Old, The Divest of Deep Divey restaurant. And the best thing about it is that it's the best breakfast and lunch place in Orange County. Bar None. For $17 you get a huge tenderloin steak, potatoes, two large eggs, five habaneros sauce and two large wheat toast. I strongly recommend that you try this Divey five stars restaurant.

Awesome little gem hidden here on Silverado Canyon Rd, on Santiago Canyon Rd. Parking sand lot is a bit small, but the restaurant doesn't get too crowded. There is also parking available on the street. We've been here twice already, but this is our first time actually coming into this restaurant. The look is very rustic, very old, it goes well with its surroundings. I bet this restaurant has been here for more than 50 years at least! Coming inside, the atmosphere is very relaxed, also, very old style. Not too noisy inside, just perfect. You come in, seat wherever you like, then wait for the waitress. Booth seating, table seating, and bar seating available. Our waitress's name is Kisha (Hope is spelled correctly), she was friendly, giving us excellent recommendations. My wife tried the $12.25 Eggs with chorizo plate (Red skin potatoes, beans, chorizo, and corn tortillas), and I tried the $11.50 French Toast combo (4 pieces of French toast , 2 eggs, and choice of bacon or sausage). It was delicious, crispy bacon, fluffy and soft French toast, fresh scrambled eggs and flavorful chorizo and beans plate. It was all good. We'll come back next Sunday and try this place a second time! Also, our phones had "Zero" bars around that area. As soon as I turned into Silverado Canyon from Santiago Canyon Rd, cellphone reception was zero.

Atmosphere 100% Service 100%…read more Presentation 110% TASTE 1 ZILLION PERCENT!!!! One of the first things that I noticed was that there were absolutely no condiments on the table. Not even salt and pepper. I didn't ask for it because I knew this was intentional. What I also knew, as a home chef, is that, the food was going to be prepared and served to me exactly as it was supposed to be eaten. Which I thought was very ballsy but I respected it at the same time. Everything, every taste, every bite, every flavor was like a interactive art experience! I personally ordered their smashburger. No condiments. Prepared precisely as the chef intended it to be eaten. Hands down, including burgers I have made in my own house, this has got to be the best cheeseburger experience that I have ever had! My husband had chilaquiles that was absolutely to die for. With the green chili by the way. My mother-in-law had fish tacos that were absolutely divine according to her! My sister-in-law had tacos de camarones and she ate both of them which is a miracle in itself! She said it had to be the best shrimp taco she ever had in her life! Everyone at the table was blown away by their food! I could taste the citrus that was a part of the seasoning of my perfectly cooked wagyu cheeseburger!! Then they brought out desserts. Lol!!!!!!! I want to call them amuse-bouche but the portion was bigger than an amused bush but it lit my mouth up with extreme happiness and joy that only homemade churros and homemade dipping sauces could do! We had some kind of a moose cheesecake with it seemed like a hibiscus sweet and tart gorgeous purple sauce smeared across the dish with edible rose petals and whatever the sauce droplets were had just enough spice to make it sweet and spicy which is an absolute delight for me! PRESENTATION 100% FLAVOR LEVEL 100% It was such a pleasure! The food is worth every penny, the time that it takes to get there, and the entire experience! I strongly suggest you make a reservation and take someone you really really like with you! Oh and by the way, all of the ingredients are locally sourced. They literally have a produce garden across the street on the hillside and whatever is in season is what you are going to have on your plate. And I guarantee you it's going to be done perfectly for you!

I recently checked out Xacalli Kitchen in Silverado Canyon. It's definitely a destination spot, and…read morethere isn't much else to do nearby on a hot day, although Cook's Corner is just down the road if you want to grab a cold beer before or after. This isn't your traditional Mexican restaurant, and that's perfectly OK. If you're expecting combo plates with rice and beans, this probably isn't the place. I would've liked to see a few more traditional Mexican dishes, but I get what they're going for. The menu takes a chef-driven, farm-to-table approach, pulling inspiration from different regions of Mexico. The first thing I noticed was they were a little short-staffed, but every employee was hustling. There wasn't a hostess standing around. One employee was carrying drinks, seating guests, and calling out, "We'll be right with you!" I respected the effort because everyone was clearly working hard. I stopped by on a Tuesday around 6 p.m. Parking was easy, and I grabbed a seat at the bar. Service was good overall, though I could see things slowing down if the restaurant got much busier. One thing to note: the online menu didn't exactly match the menu at the restaurant. I ordered the Alambre tacos. They were good, but there was more linguica than steak. That caught me by surprise. I must've missed it on the menu because sausage isn't really my thing in tacos. I'd rather see the steak take center stage. The house margarita was excellent, although $17 is a bit steep. The atmosphere was nice. The restaurant has a fresh, modern feel, the A/C was ice cold, and the bar was a great escape from the canyon heat. I almost missed that they had beer on tap because the draft setup blends into the bar. Next time I'll definitely check out the beer selection. I'd also love to see a few more local Orange County craft beers instead of the standard Voodoo Ranger IPA to better complement the farm-to-table vibe. Overall, I can see what they're going for. Xacalli offers a fresh, modern take on Mexican cuisine that's different from most local Mexican restaurants. It's a cool spot with a lot of potential, and the hardworking staff left a positive impression. I'll definitely be back. I've heard the weekend brunch and smash burger are worth checking out, and those are next on my list.

The food is a solid 3, the service is around a 4, but I'm giving this place a 4 because it's just adorable - and independent - and has the best location. Super popular, so I'm so glad we had a reservation for our dinner. The portions were generous; managed to take a bit home for lunch the next day. Definitely take advantage of the chips and salsa; as Jeff B. said, that's maybe one of the best things about the place. I do look forward to dragging my husband back here, totally for the ambience, and secondly for the food. Gem of a place buried in the canyon! 2026: 54/100

We also ordered the queso fundido and were very happy we did. It was so freaking good! The wife and I split a Carnitas burrito and couldn't finish it. It was absolutely stuffed with meat. The cilantro lime sauce on top was perfect. The cilantro rice did need a little salt, but that's personal preference. We finished off our meal with their fried ice cream. It was fantastic as well. 5 STARSSSSS FOR A RESTAURANT MAKING AN AFFORDABLE WHITE MEAT CHICKEN BREAST BURRITO!!!!…read more I'm particular, but I've been on the hunt to find somewhere close to where I live and work that offers a good-tasting, high-quality white meat chicken breast burrito that doesn't cost $16-20+ and I have FINALLY found it here at LA Tia Tacos! For $10.75 you actually get a good-sized white meat chicken breast burrito, with rice, beans, onions, cilantro fillings AND they give you some chips AND they have an open salsa bar with condiments on the side! I could not be happier to finally find a spot to replace my previous favorite (Sharky's) which has been long gone from OC and is now only in LA unfortunately. I know why restaurants use cheap, poor quality dark meat but I don't know why people prefer dark meat over white meat. It's gross and does not taste any better and you get gross gooey bits. LA Tia uses clean, marinated, high quality chicken breast and it will make me a recurring customer! I've already been coming each week and as long as everything stays consistent, I will be a longtime customer. My only small critique, although not a complaint, is that it would be nice if theh could add a few more chips to their meals. Sometimes they are a bit sparse and it would be nice to get some more. Now let's compare this with the overrated and over hyped Crapotle. Here at La Tia, you get better quality meat, free chips and a salsa bar that actually has good tasting salsa varieties to choose from, whereas at Crapotle, you get cheaper, low quality dark meat gross chicken and you have to PAY extra for chips and salsa on the side and their salsa choices suck anyways. Altogether, you would pay more at Crapotle for less quality. If you're a real chicken lover who understands and appreciates the white meat superiority, this is the spot you should go to! For under $11 you will not be disappointed! I'll be back again this week to get my burrito fix!

It is very clean and neat, the salsa bar is stocked and ready for you to pick and take as much as you want. Their fountain drinks are also self-serve. You get in line to order. I got their birria tacos with consume, a kids plate of steak tacos, plain fries, and chicken taquitos. The birria tacos and consume surprised me! They were delicious! It's hard to make good, authentic birria and consume and they hit it out of the park. The order came with 3 and I wanted to leave some for my husband but it was really hard to want to share. It was so good! The chicken taquitos were meh for me. I usually love those but I didn't care for these. They didn't taste like much. I would have preferred tacos or more birria instead. The kids plate came with rice and beans and their beans were phenomenal! I wasn't expecting that either. I didn't get to try the steak taco because the kids ate it all (they hardly ever finish their food). I also ordered a few tacos to go for my husband (he really enjoyed them!) Their horchata was just the right mix of milk and cinnamon. Not too thick and not too sweet. Right after I got my food, they were flooded with orders and were doing their best to keep up with demand. People were not patient and some were rude but I think they did a good job at being professional and giving out chips or whatever they could to keep customers happy. The whole family was working it seemed- the uncle or dad on the grill, mom prepping the plates, son or nephew going over the orders, other nephew packing them up or running plates, niece at the cash register, daughter cleaning up the tables- I love that. A family that works together stays together. What a great example for our community! I was very pleasantly surprised at how great everything was, even on such a busy day! Can't wait to go back.

They have lots of food to choose from but we stuck with the traditional combo plate : Cheese enchilada and carnitas taco - mine was a crunchy and hers was soft taco ( both were delicious). I also ordered a delicious blended strawberry margarita and it didn't disappoint. Our servers were : Enrique and Alfonso both were great . They brought us extra bean mixture dip for the chips as their dips and chips are AMAZING as is their food . If you haven't tried this place, you must try this place as not only is the food great , the people that work here are really amazing and that made our time here even better . We checked their hours and found they are open ALL DAY something like 8AM for breakfast -10 PM like what ??? Not everyday but most days , this isn't fast food either ... You have to try this place and for those who want to eat inside it's nice inside or sit at their bar or sit outside at the really big outdoor eating area , you can't go wrong ... Stop by after a Target run it's near by !! Thank you to you all for helping us and our pups - Enrique and Alfonso we will be back for sure !! Thank you again ! Prices very reasonable! Location corner in center - plenty of parking Margarita $$

Love this place. Nice service, nice food, very interesting…read moredrinks. But they had not fix the Lorem ipsum text on menu =p

(Drank/Snacked 06/27/2026 SA @ 10:00pm): This was a monstro feat as we all ended up in a beast of a…read morewhale's belly for drinks! After our party of six chatted over cocktails and preyed on pupus, we moved to a "secret" room tucked in the back of Stowaway and walked into a Belly Of The Beast. The founders and co-owners of Stowaway, Leonard Chan and Dominic Iapello, created this extension to the tiki bar with a wildly interesting Pinocchio theme and the famed encounter with Monstro the whale all the while serving the same offerings in Stowaway but with also an exclusive limited menu just for this adventure. With its proximity to Disneyland and its Enchanted Tiki Room, with the very niche underground-like society of tiki culture they found a consistent customer base and the thrill of island escapism through colorful cocktails, pleasurable pupus, tropical trimmings, and nostalgic know-how. How would my belly handle the beastly drinks concocted here!? PURCHASE(S) Gepetto's Last Words ($16.00): Intrigued by the cocktail's name, this elixir was crafted with Fid Street Gin, tangerine, creme de violette, lemon, and cucumber, it was a citrusy refreshing sweet drink that was decorated with bright yellow petals. It was nice, but for whatever reason it just didn't quite hit the spot. [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($9.00): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the catsup wasn't needed but used. SERVICE While in Stowaway, we informed our male server to let us know when we were allowed to enter the belly. Once inside and situated, we had the place and bartender to ourselves. After we all perused the menu, we placed our orders, and everything arrived within ten minutes. The rest of the time was spent chatting, picture taking, and our bartender checked in on us also giving a Dole Whip taster. All was casual, chill, and somewhat on island time - aloha and mahalo! PARKING (FREE): They shared a medium-sized private lot with several other businesses who were closed at this time with plenty of spots - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE "Hidden" inside Stowaway which was located within a strip mall, the entire theme was based on the Pinocchio story, the interlude in time spent inside Monstro, and as we entered it felt like the beginning of the Disneyland "Storybook" ride as you road a canal boat into the mouth and sharp teet of a whale. There were several marionettes (appropriate and non-appropriate) that hung from the ceiling and belly walls, along with other Disneyesque memorabilia, a few sitting booths, and a tiny bar at the end of the roo. No natural lighting whatsoever while an assortment of extremely low-lit electric lights and table candles glowed. There were no TVs while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Although I was actually dressed appropriately for the occasion in an aloha shirt, linen pants, and flip-flops, this place was totally casual, so a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops would suffice. OVERALL Belly Of The Beast was an adventurous fun evening with friends, it left me feeling childlike with the need to watch "Pinocchio", and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their awesome-soundling elixirs. I generally loved all-things Disneyana, and this new wrinkle, albeit probably not approved by the mouse ears brass, caught my fancy. My one drink was tasty but just didn't hit the right spot, the onion rings were very good, the prices were a tad elevated, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service was friendly and professional. They had an extremely limited menu, and there was some doubt whether or not ordering from the Stowaway menu was an option. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
