Hidden gem! I've passed the signs off Santiago Canyon for years now, and finally made it a point to go into the canyon to try it out. The route is breathtakingly scenic, making you forget that your minutes away from the hustle and bustle of OC. This is a true mom-and-pop diner that places like Danny's and iHop pretend to be. The food tastes deliciously home made, and priced at a more than reasonable amount. Their burgers were deliciously meaty, and you could tell all their ingredients are super fresh. Great spot for food after going up to Santiago peak. It's right off the road when you're driving through Silverado/Silverado Canyon. We had a group of 6 and the staff was friendly and very quick too. The inside had about ~10 people inside and we sat outside with our dog. Food was delicious! I had a chicken quesadilla, I wasn't expecting to have sour cream and tomato's added in - yum! This is a really small place I believe it's 150 years old. The food was pretty good although our order was completely wrong. His toast was on my omelette and my toast was on his omelette. By the time I took my second bite and realized this is in my omelette. My husband had already drenched what was my omelette with hot sauce, and was already halfway through. We didn't say anything and didn't send it back as we were in a rush to eat and get out but it's just annoying that a simple mistake of not paying attention whose toast you put on which omelette made it I couldn't enjoy the food I ordered. Just a good old fashioned greasy spoon. This place looks like a literal shack from the outside. Old wood paneling, random old timey decorations on the outside, and a small dusty parking lot. Walking inside is like stepping through a time portal into a cozy breakfast spot from the 70's. I was in rush so I sat at the counter and ordered a basic breakfast. Two eggs scrambled, two sausage patties, and breakfast potatoes. This also came with toast, but I declined. No fancy frills, just a super simple breakfast. It was good, but lacking in the flavor department. I added salt and pepper and we were back on track. The guy next to me ordered the chili verde pork burrito and I became instantly jealous. It looked amazing and it was huge! My food took a little longer than I anticipated, so I inhaled it without snapping a pic. If you don't live in Silverado this has to be a destination because there's no other reason to be out in the middle of nowhere. This rustic little country diner has character and has a fair number of characters as customers. After having repeatedly passed their sign on Santiago Canyon Road for months I decided to drive down the winding road to Silverado for breakfast one rainy morning. I parked and slogged through the muddy unpaved lot and walked inside to see several booths and a long counter. I decided to sit at the counter near a television tuned to the local news and directly across from the open window to the kitchen. There was just a cook and a server/host on duty and the two of them seemed to handle the few customers in a timely and pleasant manner without a hitch. I ordered a cup of coffee, a cinnamon roll, one egg and a side of bacon (5 slices). Soon my order was placed by the cook in the aforementioned window and was quickly served to me. The coffee was a no-frills, standard cup of joe but oh-so-good. I have no idea why it was so great; it probably just comes from a can of Folger's or MJB but who knows? The cinnamon roll was big & soft with plenty of sweet frosting and cinnamon. Better than a Cinnabon. The center was heavenly. Someone should open a shop in Beverly Hills selling these cinnamon roll centers and charge $8 apiece for them. CinnaCenter? The bacon was thin and crisp and the egg (over easy) was perfectly done. I don't know about lunch or dinner here but the breakfast is mighty fine. If you want to get out of the stressful, stuffy city atmosphere and have a fun, relaxed, rural diner experience, this is the place. read more

Fist time here with a group of colleagues. We ordered Cinnabon as appetizer. Oh wow! I bet my their chef that the Cinnabon is fresh made every morning. Why ? Because I haters Cinnabon and the moment that I accidentally had a bite of it ... it had all of my attention, didn't wanna share it with the team and grab the whole plate to myself. So their Cinnabon is a MUST try! I also enjoyed their hot-chocolate. Well it's not that hot, but the flavor is light and soothing for someone who doesn't want harsh drinks like coffee in the morning. It's not too sweet and it's not too thick. The whipped cream made the flavor even more soothing: Such a get-away breakfast for a relaxing weekend! I personally think so. 2.5 stars because the drive was an adventure and the food was pretty good. Even though my husband said the Al pastor tasted a few days old but still edible. The service however was not what I was expecting. We got greeted by Andrea and she said we can sit wherever we'd like. It was not so busy so we were happy about that. As we were sitting looking at the menu two other couples walk in and our server goes to them FIRST and gets their order. I really felt like she was only attending to "locals" or "regulars" because I had to wave her down letting her know we were ready to order and she just goes on and says "just a second" when we have been there before the other families. Jonathan however was very attentive and helpful. Even though I had to wave him down to get refills it's not his fault because he's not our waiter. Andrea never came to us to check on us we only saw her when she brought our food out but even then my plate didn't come till minutes later and she could've told us "it was coming right up" or ANY update. I really didn't like her service.. By the time we got our food the other two couples that came after us had already finished their food and left. Not a very good first impression for my first time going to that cafe. I didn't feel like I was important enough to be a paying customer. When we wanted to pay.. my husband called out for Andrea several times and she ignored us. He was pretty loud and it's a small place... she was right by us. We got up to the register and and she just told us our total from about 10ft away from the counter while someone else was still there. Like she's just trying to get rid of us. I asked her for her name and I feel like she knew why I was asking for her name. That's when she changed her attitude and said it's a "family business" "my father in law and husband are in the kitchen" you would think we would get treated differently and make us feel comfortable. So we ordered and the food was way under par. The food is usually good not great but we like to go for the remoteness. My Garbage Burrito was just that "GARBGE" Margerie ordered a French Dip and th meat was so salty she could finish it. While eating we were overrun by some small insects. I asked the waitress to wipe them up she replied that the table we were sitting at has that issue. No apologies made upon our leaving! LOVE this place! super cute, small town feel cafe with the besttt drinks. the foods really good for the price and the workers are just the best. whenever my friend and i come in they alreadyyy knoww we're getting mimosas and they treat us soo well. sometimes it gets busy and since there's usually only two people working, they're busting their butts off trying to accommodate everyone and they do it well. such a fun place to go sit at the bar and just catch up with friends since it doesn't feel like you're getting rushed out of there, a slower dining experience i'd say but that's right up my alley. read more

This is like the good ol country food you crave any time of day. They have breakfast, lunch, dinner options. Breakfast served till 2pm. We came for breakfast. I would suggest French toast. I want to know how in the hell does this place have high ratings? These ratings must be done by friends and family members because no where near the 4 stars. I'm being super generous by giving 2 stars. Let's star with the service. We sat for about 20 mins and we were about to get up and leave when someone came to our table to ask about our drinks. Decided to stay. But totally regretted it after. Sat another 15 mins and had to call to the waiter that we were ready to order and asked for refill of coffee and they must of forgot about that too because by the time they remembered I was finished with my breakfast. Another party decided to leave due to the lack of service, they didn't get a chance to order and said "the hell with this"! Another table received their food at different times and the customer had to go up to the front to ask for syrup. The waiter should always be available. The food wasn't even that great. I ordered the chorizo with potatoes combo. I almost chipped a tooth! Found bone in the chorizo. (Pic enclosed) The chorizo had a different taste from what I'm use to but I ate it anyways because I wasn't about to send it back and wait another 1/2 hour for my food. I honestly could of made a better dish at home. I hate when we try new places that have high ratings and it turns out being a bad experience. Come on people.....let's be honest! hell yeah, 5-star watering hole all american beauty of a cafe nestled in the sunny silverado canyon.

We arrived at Silverado Cafe at 8pm tonight. Closing time is 8:30pm. The restaurant's lights were on, and door was open. I figured we either had time for a quick meal or could get something to go. We entered and half the inside lights were off. Two guys drinking beers, said the cafe closed a half hour ago with the cook nodding his head. I said the cafe is suppose to be open until 8:30pm. "Not tonight, no people" says one of the beer drinkers as he lets out a belch. Cook says "The grill is closed. No food to go". Apparently, the cook didn't view us as customers. We walk out with one of the beer drinkers sarcastically saying, "I'll bet they drove 10 miles to get here, to find out the restaurant was closed. Isn't that funny ?" While I could have said something and made a scene, I figured it wasn't worth it. This cafe basically couldn't care less about their customers (unless they're locals) and changes their hours at the drop of a hat, for any reason. Not like the restaurant is anything to write home about or the food is anything that great. They don't even have a website. I guess they rely on the huge population of Silverado CA (861 people) to keep their shack restaurant going. They sure couldn't care less about customers outside their closed minded, little town.
