1/5 -- Great Ambiance, Questionable Barbering…read more Let me start by saying this: Hammer & Nails in Leesburg has a NICE setup. The ambiance? . The bar? Cool. The chairs? Comfortable. The whole place makes you feel like you're about to have a luxury experience. Then you ask for a fade. And suddenly you realize the bar is the only thing getting a smooth finish. I'm not even trying to be disrespectful, but if you're going there specifically for a haircut, PLEASE manage your expectations. If you want a drink, a manicure, a massage, or possibly a blowout, you might be in the right place. But if you want a CLEAN fade? ... RUN. I genuinely believe you'd have better luck giving yourself a haircut using your front facing camera and a pair of kitchen scissors. At one point I was looking in the mirror thinking, "Maybe this is just the first stage. Maybe they're cooking." Nope. They weren't cooking. They were microwaving. I'm not naming names because I'm not trying to ruin anybody's day, but let's just say this: if you're walking in there specifically asking for a fade, make sure whoever is holding the clippers has demonstrated that they know what a fade actually is. Because I didn't ask for a fade. I asked for a faith-based experience. I had to pray over this haircut. And the funniest part? You walk out looking at yourself like, "Maybe I'm just being dramatic." Then you get in your car. You turn on the interior light. You look again. And you realize... "OH. THEY REALLY DID THAT." So yeah, Hammer & Nails gets a solid rating for atmosphere. But for a simple fade? I'd recommend somewhere else. Honestly, you might have better luck asking a blind man with a lawn mower to give you a taper. At least then you'd know what you were getting into.

I've been getting my haircuts here for a few years now. Andre and Luis are both phenomenal barbers…read more They really listen to their clients to ensure you are satisfied with your cut. Very courteous, professional and skilled. I arranged for a manicure for my mom and pedicure for my dad, both done by Jacqueline. She was very warm, polite and professional from start to finish. Both of my parents really enjoyed it so I will be bringing them back. You're always greeted warmly by the front staff with choice of a beverage. The vibe is upscale but not too stuffy.

I treated myself to the Premium Haircut with Lawrence and the Premium Pedicure with a talented young lady whose name I, unfortunately, forgot--but her skill and care were unforgettable. Lawrence delivered a top-tier grooming experience with the Premium Cut. Every detail was handled with precision--from the razor outline and warm foam to the aftershave massage and relaxing lavender-infused hot towel. I walked out looking and feeling my absolute best. The Premium Pedicure was equally indulgent. From the warm soak and peppermint sugar scrub to the massage and paraffin wrap, every step was designed for total relaxation and care. My feet have never felt better. I also enjoyed the Premium Manicure, which was the perfect finishing touch. The exfoliation, hydration, and attention to detail were exceptional. To top it all off, I was offered complimentary beers, which added to the upscale, laid-back vibe. Hammer & Nails isn't just a grooming spot--it's an experience. I left feeling refreshed, pampered, and appreciated. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their self-care routine. I even purchased my membership. On a side note: I would like to have one closer to me in Gaithersburg.

I went to Salon Quency again after 8 months, and I left wondering why it's been so long and…read morereminding myself that the distance is totally worth it. When I entered, the individual at the front desk greeted me kindly; seriously, I don't even want to say that they train them well (though they probably do) because I get genuinely good energy from everyone in that place. About my haircut and barber: I showed Quency a picture from last year and told him I wanted something like it, but I'm so tired of the cowlick and I want another option. Let me tell you, he understood what I wanted, but KNEW what I needed. He asked what I thought about a style totally different, but cute, trendy, and fairly easy for me to fix at home. I'm of the mindset that you only live once, so why not. When he got started on a faux hawk type cut, I told him I'm surprised he thinks it'll work out since I have relatively plain hair without much volume. He paused and told me that that's his job! I put my trust him when I took off my glasses, and he got to work. When we were done, I was honestly really surprised. My hair, which usually feels textureless and honestly quite burdensome, was stylish and contemporary. I am so glad that I trusted his opinion and went with something new and confidence-boosting. He walked me through the steps to fix it up right and made sure I was happy before having get me up. He matched my vibe and got me what I needed by avoiding any cowlick issues, so there were lots of wins today.

I read rave reviews about this place (specifically the owner, Quency Valencia) on Yelp and Reddit,…read moreand booked an appointment with Quency online on the salon website. Everything from front desk reception to ease of booking to haircut quality and styling is absolutely top-notch, and for very reasonable prices. I've lived in a few places and needless to say everyone who has moved around knows the stress of finding a new hairstylist. In my case, I also wanted to find a stylist that knows how to work with wavy hair and didn't cut my hair too short/with a fade like a lot of barbers do. Rest assured, you have found your go-to place right here. I really appreciated that Quency set aside time to do a quick consultation before my haircut and was very mindful of my requests for layers, feathering, not too short length, etc. I like that he makes sure to honor clients' requests while also offering potential ideas for what might suit the client's hair best. He is exceptionally detailed, efficient, and wants the best results for each of his clients. After I had told him what I was hoping for in a haircut, Quency told me what he was going to do and visually demonstrated which areas he was going to trim/style and how. He told me his goal was to emphasize my natural hair volume and texture, that I was going to feel like I had even more hair then ever before, and that I was going to love it--and he was totally right! Quency gave me a quick, easy to understand tutorial of how to style my hair in less than 3 steps (I had said earlier I prefer a minimal routine). When he handed me the mirror at the end, I was stunned at how voluminous my hair was and how much wave he'd been able to get with only sea salt gel and a little bit of curl enhancing lotion! An incredible haircut for only $60 (that only took half an hour!) Quency is a master at his craft and it clearly shows in his work. He and the other stylists are very friendly, and you can easily tell that he wants all of his clients to walk away feeling happy. His salon is clean, well-run, and he clearly chooses all his staff with intention. I was briefly helped by Sary and Maribel as well while I was waiting for Quency to finish with the client before--both excellent. I cannot recommend Salon Quency enough!
