Loc maintenance with two strand twists
    Etta H.

Everyone at this business is thoughtful, kind and gives great consideration to who you are as a person. They are prompt and courteous with their care and you don't feel rushed as if you're just another means to an end. I really enjoy coming here and will recommend this salon to anyone who cares about quality service and their hair health. I came in with a considerable amount of color damage and hair breakage. I worked with Rasha and had a great experience. She was very knowledgeable about my hair health and what measures I should take to manage the color damage. She reassured me that I will eventually be able to re-color it later on the future, given proper maintenance and an expert technique with the next color. I really appreciated her thoughtful consideration and the extra time she took to address my concerns. I will definitely be coming back!

I had the best experience with LocLov. I began my loc journey here and have no regrets. The shop is unassuming with a low key chill vibe. The first stop is the shampoo room and it was divine‼I received a 30 minute shampoo and conditioning that will put you to sleep . After the shampoo my stylist Dacari was simply amazing. He was gentle with my hair, explained how he would start my diamond pattern twists and engaged in witty conversation throughout the process. . I definitely recommend this place to start or maintain your locs.

Loc Lov was referred to me through a friend when I became interested in locking my hair. My first appointment was a consultation with Salih who inspected my natural hair, answered ALL of my questions and gave me some reassurance about the process of starting my locs. I then came back for my real appointment with Zee and was able to get two strand twist starter locs with diamond parts. Every time I'm at Loc Lov I feel SO at home with the style of the salon and it's afrocentric vibe. Everyone is so friendly and tends to your every need. Whenever I go for a retwist, from the time I come into the salon till the time I leave I feel like I'm at a spa. Loc Lov will be the place I consistently get my locs tended to while I'm in DC.

Update: they were too tight I had to take down & unravel them to take some pressure off my scalp. I want to keep my Locs yah know I really enjoy this black owned hair salon on Capitol Hill. I was in need of a real loctician & I found that on yelp on 4/15/2018. Ive been blessed with Bonnie because she was available ASAP. She's awesome, the first & second time I visited she repaired some of my locs first. Then I came back for a third and received an amazing, wonderful, caring wash by Billy & Bonnie whipped my hair into shape with a Maintenance & style. It's beautiful style too. Pictures coming soon I do recommend them. Dope energy, dope people & dope conversations!

I'm new to the area, I took a chance I made the phone call the receptionists was very professional Taking time to listen answering any questions I had getting me with the right style that fit my needs. Walking through the door everyone was smiling they greet you This is a very upscale shop good products. The receptionist took time to walk me up stairs to the sitting Area. Shortly after the Two gentlemen are up there they acknowledge you they let you know they're going to wash your hair. Let me say this you feel like you're in A-day spa as you start getting your hair washed conditioned. They get a gold star. Went downstairs my Stylist was very professional my hair turned out wonderful. I cannot say enough wonderful things regarding my experience here other than to say I may my appointments for my next Visit. A little FYI Download the app for Parking$$

I was referred to Loc Luv by a friend who is a friend of the owner. The person that I spoke with on the phone texted me and we exchanged pictures of how I wanted my hair cut. The first pictures are of how my hair was cut. The last two pictures are of what I wanted. And I had plenty of hair before the cut. I showed pictures to the stylist of what I wanted and she did something completely different. The staff is gracious and helpful but I would only let them do my hair if I had dreads.

I need a hair cut, not a Sephora ad in my face. 3) the prices are not commensurate with their skills or products and the customer service is tone deaf e.g., why would I want to let them "fix" my hair when they were the one who created the problem? Unfortunately they refused to give me any refund (aside from the money back they charged me for time not spent) and my chase sapphire credit card was no help to recoup any of the costs. I had to shell out an additional $300 to remedy the unfortunate hair situation they created. Save your money and go somewhere with stylists who know what they're doing.

I decided that it's finally time to make a review of my experience. My appointment was with Eunice. I had done a ton of research about where to trust my hair now that a former stylist of mine stopped cutting hair for a living. She recommended this salon. After reading all the stylists instagrams I decided on Eunice. I arrived on time and was seated in her chair. She had the worst attitude and demeanor as soon as I sat down. She asked me about my hair routine and I told her I used Keratase hair oil as a finishing product and she scoffed at me and said "you put hair oil on dry hair?" like I was some sort of idiot. "Um, yes, this is common," I thought. But I was so shocked I just smiled. Then we were talking about what kind of cut I wanted and I asked her if she had any suggestions and she literally said "no, that is up to you." This woman was literally charging 125 for haircuts and would not give me any suggestions. I totally regretted making this appointment at that point but I thought it was too late, and didn't want to be rude (I think I was the only one). I ended up getting a cut that was fine, and when she blowdried it she made no effort to style it. Simply dried, no real volume, nothing. The whole experience was 45 minutes start to finish. It was a haircut I probably could have gotten for half the price elsewhere without the horrible attitude. When I went to checkout, it is the only hair stylist EVER that I did not tip. 125 for the cut was already too much (and I've paid more for haircuts). I think she charges more now. Perhaps the other stylists here are better but I have no interest in going back to a salon where this type of behavior is ok (based on my reading of reviews, I am not an isolated case).

I generally wear weaves, but wanted to switch to a more protective style. Since my stylist, doesn't do braids I looked up a few styles and decided that I wanted someone to give me Marley twists. On a relatively late, Thursday night I found myself outside of Crown Royal Hair Salon. I had already been disappointed once, because after booking an appointment elsewhere I was canceled on very unprofessionally. I walked in to Crown Royal, and was greeted warmly by a stylist working out of a private room. She informed me that they had a braider on site, but she was unable to do the style I wanted. However, she gave me the card of a woman that was able to do Marley twists. I was deflated, because I figured since the stylist was off, she wouldn't want to come into the salon to take a walk-in client...but I was wrong! I called the number I was given, and was consoled by a very sweet woman named, Awa - who agreed to come to the salon to do my hair. I was surprised, given how late it was but glad I would be getting my hair done after all! The salon has a great set up, I appreciated the fact that every stylist has a private suite with a television, sink and styling station. It made the experience very special for me. I got to get my hair done, and watch my favorite television show too! Awa is amazing, I have relaxed hair and was concerned the style I wanted wouldn't support the weight of the braiding hair but she did a wonderful job. Very neat, quick work, she's also very meticulous about detail (she trimmed all the small hairs off of all of my braids!) and doesn't cut corners. I'm not sure if it is a salon wide deal, but I was offered $20 off for my first service as a new client with Awa. Definitely a great perk if you ask me. There's a barber shop next door, so you and your boo can get your hair done at the same time. There is also a beauty supply a few steps away, so if you need to run and buy something for your hair appointment you're well within reach. Hungry? Chick Fil-A is right across the street! LOL! Soooooooo It is very important to do your research and make sure you know of the stylists work…read morebefore they do your hair. Lesson Learned for me. So this past saturday I went in looking to get a quick weave, I've never got it before. However, I've seen it on others and it looks nice. So when I walked in I looked for someone since it was my first time there, and the lady in the first booth as soon as you walk in asked could she help me, so I replied yes, I was looking to get a quick weave and she said she could do it and it would be "100" dollars. I said okay fine and I was ready to get started. As I sat in her chair and she was going through my natural hair she said, "you have a lot of hair and your hair is long." well my hair isn't that long to me it touches my collarbone or a bit shorter. Anyways, so she said that and I said well would it be a problem? she replied no. Mind you I know many girls with longer hair who get a quick weave. So I got my hair washed and she took my leave out and put gel and some sort of lotion I believe and got under the dryer, oh my hair wasn't put in a ponytail or anything the hair in the back was tucked under like a one braid type of thing. Anyway, I get in the dryer gt back out she puts a hardener on it then after that she glued the tracks. End result my hair Looked Great! from the front because my leave out always blends well with any hair. So fast forward to the next day, a track came out at the bottom so as i felt my hair, I noticed that my hair was out, like basically a fro, with nothing securing it. I was like wtf but I was like hey maybe i can fix it. But when I get to work I asked my co-worker hey can you take a pic of my hair, some reason it feels weird and I cant see. THe face she made was like a shocker she was like Kris, what in the hell? and it wasn't until I looked at the pic I was so embarrassed. So i quickly text the stylist " Sharon" and told her what happen, she said I can fix it.. but at this point I felt so stupid and embarrassed because this shouldn't happen only after two days. I told her I do not feel comfortable with her doing my hair again due to this experience, and I don't trust her. So she was saying things like I'm being dramatic but how am I being dramatic when I just got my hair done and it looks terrible, I didn't even go on my outing with friends. So anyways she finally says I will refund your money no problem. I went to a professional stylist and she was so upset she said "Oh hell no get your money back." she also said I got played because the lady didn't even put a cap on my head, and if she knew my hair was thick and long it was supposed to be cornrowed down. I asked three other girls that do hair, and they were shocked as well to know I didn't have a cap nor was my hair in ponytail or secured. so basically I got played!!1 So after work I call her to meet up, and she then tells me I'm only refunding you 80.00 dollars, mind you I paid her 100 dollars plus a 20 dollar tip! yeah a tip. So i said well can I atleast get 100 back i did tip you, she said its for the shampoo cost, but um isn't that protocol, but I said okay so the tip should cover that, but she said no "like she said she will pay me 80.00. and that i said i liked my hair when I left, ofcourse I did it looked good from the outside. when I met her she had the money in her hand, I said okay do you wanna see my hair, I turned around and showed her and she said "okay nonchalantly" I thought she would say I'm so sorry this happened, this isn't my best work or something but she didn't care. not only did I lose 40 dollars but I also lost money for the hair I purchased so total I lost on 90.00 additional dollars. To conclude, this post is not to bash the salon itself, but the professionalism of the stylist, I felt advantage was taken because I am naive and too nice, so its my fault, but you don't do people like that. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
