The apple picking is no longer a revenue generator for this place because the orchards have been closed for weeks. Per the other reviews it's really a tourist spot but we had a blast. One of the most scenic and fun tractor rides we have ever been on. The animal farm is big (and smelly) but lots of room to walk around. The donuts are terrible. We may be bias being for MA but they were doughy, hard and not tasty. Otherwise we found plenty to do in our two hours here. Lots to see. read more

This was our first time to Silverman's Farm, but it won't be the last. We were looking for something like the lovely experience we had last summer at Alstede Farm in New Jersey, but closer to our family in CT. Finding this farm in google maps, we came across a truly mixed bag of reviews, with negative ones claiming everything from this being a tourist trap to rude staff to overly expensive everything. We were pleasantly surprised to find the negatives disproven by a really lovely fall day spent outside. Yes, you have to pay for the animal feeding part, but it was worth it for the large, well spaced, clean animal section. With bunnies, llamas, sheep, emu, goats from all around the world, and even buffalo, our daughter loved it! We were also pleased that despite the Native American section having tipis -Not the housing of northeast tribes - they included signs making clear that these are not dwellings typical of the northeast! They had cultural items from tribes across the country. After feeding animals, our daughter played in the smallish playground area. If your child is 5yrs or older, it is probably not enough to entertain them. But our almost 4yr old liked the slides, maze, and Thomas the train. About 30yards away is also a Duck Derby where up to i think 6 or 7 kids pump water to race ducks down a pipe- we all liked that one. And with some maintenance to fix the one leaky pipe, and the one just plain broken, it would be perfect. After the animals and kids play side, we crossed the street at the crossing guard, and our daughter jumped around in the Cereal Bowl - a large hay bale enclosure, maybe ten yards by 15yards, filled with dried corn kernels. She loved it, and it was like a giant sand box only we didn't have to brush sand out of her hair all night, just a few kernels of corn. After the corn pit, we were all starving and forced to overpay for food, because all that was available were a few food trucks - hence the one missing star. $4.50 for a microscopic slice of pizza is insane - and we live in NYC, so we know overpriced pizza! The meatball sandwiches were a far better bang for your buck, but overall the food options left a lot to be desired. We then went up to do some apple picking and it was all we could have hoped for And more! A lovely, bumpy tractor up to hillside orchards, encouragement to eat apples as we picked, and lots of other families, in a rainbow of diverse ethnicities and races, all wandering among the autumn trees. On our way out we picked up a pumpkin, you domt pick it from the field yourself, but that was ok. We wish the train rides had been running for kids, but maybe next season. Over all we really enjoyed ourselves. Between the cost of the animals feeding part $16 (plus about $1.50 in corn to feed them), and the apples bag (for kids under 4, as ours is, you don't have to pay for them to pick) of $19, and the hefty cost of the to-do quality food trucks (about $15), it was NOT a cheap adventure. But considering you could spend most of the day there, bring packed food from home, and that the cost includes a crazy amount of yummy apples, we felt it was worth it. read more

Holy high prices. Guess it's nice for kids with the animal farm and all. Lot of expensive pies, jams. Prices on the mums were nuts. The donuts and other baked goods were hard as a rock when I picked some up to put them in a bag, so I put them back (with napkin!). Love this place! We stumbled on this wonderful farm after doing a quick internet search and are so glad we did! They have it broken up into a few different sections depending on what it is you want to do. There is an animal area where you can feed goats, llamas, bison, cows, sheep and various other fun creatures which is always a big hit with the kiddos. Once you have had your fill of feeding you can opt to head over to the market to pickup a nice variety of fresh homemade pies, jams, veggies, fruits and all kinds of other great stuff. If you'd rather pick your own you can also pick fresh blueberries or raspberries straight from the bush which are not only delicious but also super fun for the kiddos. We have been a few times this year already and will probably go many more throughout the year. read more

CAUTION: wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty - remember you are visiting a FARM. They have made nice accommodations for the pandemic. Roping off sections of the animal farm making it one way travel so people don't have to pass each other was nice. They added several hand washing stations throughout the maze. And everyone wears a mask - even the kids. It felt safe and friendly as always. Great job to Mr. Silverman and the entire staff. read more

This place must be owned by a private equity firm or something because when you leave you feel completely ripped off. One "peck" of apples which amounts to about 15-20 apples costs $20 and each adult has to buy a bag of apples, while kids can buy a half bag. The picking areas are restricted and have mainly been picked over. What is left is rotted and not very appetizing. Silverman's also uses tons and tons of pesticide that coat the apples. Definitely don't let your kids eat them off the tree. The donuts are stale and the cider is like warm. This place is a disappointment and completely lacks the feel and experience of picking apples in New England on a fall day. Go elsewhere. read more

I'd recommend this place if you have very small kids who want to see the animals/petting zoo, or who don't care what kind of fruit they pick (only that they get to pick something off a tree or a bush). Don't come here anytime soon unless you are actively TRYING to catch Covid. Crowded as a country fair. Only half the crowd wearing masks. The line for the petting zoo was around the parking lot and people were standing 1-2 feet apart and nobody was enforcing distancing at all. We left within minutes. Reckless, dangerous atmosphere. Appalling and awful. Drove there with my kids from NJ last week after calling to confirm that they were open and had apples. On arrival, we paid $30 and took the tractor into the field where literally all the apples were deformed and diseased looking. We asked the workers where the normal looking apples were and they directed us to take apples from bins placed near the tractor stop. We spent an hour looking through their post apocalyptic fields for normal apples, as we did not drive over an hour to pay for the privilege to buy shop rite apples from a bin, but alas, there were only disgusting apples to be found. I complained to several workers who did not seem surprised by my experience. I can't believe the other customers were not complaining. Maybe this is what people are used to in CT? We have wonderful places to pick apples in NJ and I'm sorry I tried something new. My kids were so disappointed. I emailed Silverman's customer service and did not get a response. We enjoyed an evening at Silverman's Farm! The small peck was 6$. We enjoyed the scenic view from the top of the hill while riding on the tractor. We were greeted by a tour guide. He was friendly and pointed to the endless selections of apples! Also, he included which apples are perfect for pie or jam! We crossed over to visit the animal farm. I was charged 12$ for both my son and myself. He was scared to feed the animals but enjoyed the small playground. Overall, we had a wonderful time. We created beautiful memories! read more

Spacious and fun family activities to do here! Orchards, Animal farm, free folk music, some pastries at the bakery but no apple cider donuts when we got there. They also had some random meatball truck but didn't really appeal to me. We only bought small 8 oz. Apple cider in cute little bottles shaped as an apple (shown in pictures) $2.50 - small but worth it if you don't want to spend $8.50 for a gallon. Nice place to walk around, pretty photos to take here, very scenic, hayrides as well but you have to pay to get on it just as the Animal farm. They have a playground area called "The Cereal Bowl". Kids and adults of all ages play in the bowl filled with corn kernels (never seen that) but looked safe and clean for the kiddies to play in. Also, parking is pretty quick, very organized. Traffic wasn't so bad, took about 5-10 mins to get on main road. FYI: Get here early, cider donuts get sold out very quickly. You'd think with the volume of people that come here they would have some left at 2pm on a Sunday. For me, that was a total disappointed but who knows, maybe we were here on the wrong day! read more

This farm is absolutely awesome! There is so much to see. There are animals on one side of the farm. Goats, alpaca, sheep, pigs and more. The kids absolutely enjoy feeding the animals. It's not expensive to enter. Across from the farm animals is a hay ride through the field which can take your group Apple picking. There are also pumpkins in all sizes. It's beautiful. This place is definitely family oriented and made for kids. I did not try the donuts or any beverages because I previously had breakfast but everyone looked happy with ciders and donuts. I went there today with my 86 year old friend. She didn't want any apples, just a peach pie $17.00, and I wanted the smallest bag $11.00 for picking apples. My friend had never done this before and was looking forward to it. So.... for $28.00 we were getting a small bag for apples and a pie....but NO! In order for me and her to go into the orchard we each had to buy a bag for another $11.00 making a total of 39.00. What my friend doesn't want any apples and I don't need more than 8-10. So why? What happened to this place? year ago we had a nice visit at the Silverman's Farm, beautiful pumpkin arrangements, food trucks, cleanliness etc. Today we decided to come back - low key, Tuesday. Boy, did we regret it. One would thing that at the peak of the season local farms are trying to win the contest of "who can do best" as fall season is shorter with longer and more beautiful summers. Not the Silvermans... Place is so run down, I doubt they pur ANY effort to freshen this place up before this year fall. I will share picture I took today and just simply advise you to find different, nicer farm (i.e. Ambler) instead of coming to Silverman's - a run down, dirty, filthy with garbage, dirty diapers and dog poops in pink baggies under the falling apart (!!!) picking tables. Super unsafe for families with kids, rocks at the bottom of their filthy slide, the "AMAZING" MAZE with falling apart sign, puddles of water on the way - I really do not understand why the caretakers would not throw some mulch etc to get rid of the puddles? How on earth kids suppose to run through this? Its not over: many sharp and dangerous falling apart rotten (!) tables, fences, one hands water station OUT OF ORDER with a water pipe sooooo rusty and broken that created another puddle that you have to jump over... no comment. There is wooden frame that imitates a good old polaroid frame - so called "picture moment" with trains and tractor playground - well now is just a off white frame, barely standing there, just take a look... And a store across the street.... there is nothing in there but some regular white label products that you can buy in any grocery store. Old donuts, $2 during coffee and apple cider. Well - they do have a great apples from their (I'd assume) orchard. We did buy a quart of apple cider, but when asked for a cup so we could pour it to our 3 years old son, we were told that they were not allowed to give out cups for ciders!!!!! OMG! that was it. So you suppose to come with your own paper cup? I just got a cup for my coffee and was told that I cannot get another one. So sad, pathetic and just wrong. Did I mention the portable potty section? Just take a look... Nobody cares in that place. Such a shame. Planters are filled with weeds and old, dry mums and other flowers... One would really think that in the peak of season owners would care to make a great impression, especially those days... Shame on you Irv Silverman and crew. Just a terrible place. As an Easton native, I was so excited to plan a classroom field trip to Silverman's farm this year. I called five times over the past 3 weeks asking to speak to someone about field trips. The first three calls I was told the person who organizes them is not available, and to call back later. I called again last Friday, and was told the same thing. I explained my frustration, that I kept hearing the same thing, and had not been given any clear answers. The woman on the phone offered to take my name and phone number, asked how many students I have, and said someone would call me back soon. I explained I have 9 students on the autism spectrum, two paraprofessionals, and five parents willing to chaperone. I felt hopeful that the plan might finally fall in place. I did not receive any calls over the weekend, and called again today. I was bluntly told there is no more availability for field trips. I am very disappointed with the lack of communication. I discourage any teachers in the area from planning any future field trips to this farm. read more

I feel like they picked all the good apples to sell and left the crappy ones for the problem who would $20 a bag. And it want even worth the "experience" as the rows are so narrow you can't even walk through the orchard and it's so step that you fall down the hill. read more

Is there a way to give this place ZERO stars? Silverman's is the worst kind of tourist trap - the kind where you feel like they should pay you. But instead, they expect you to pay them... a lot. The NYC-types think they are getting a country experience with the kids but at Silverman's you are crammed in with more New Jerseyans and Manhattanites than a Saturday night in Times Square. The prices are an insult. The pies, far from homemade, are shipped in on trucks. The locals won't touch the place with a 10 foot pole, opting for more authentic places to get pumpkins and cut christmas trees like Sherwoods and Maple Row. The herds of clueless city Silverman customers also draw the ire of local residents for their garish clothing and snarling of local traffic. C'mon folks - this isn't fashion week, how about a pair of Bean boots and a flannel shirt? In short, if you are bereft of ideas for weekend relaxing and choose to take your country destinations out of the New York Times, well..., no..., even then you could do better by just driving your car north and flipping a coin at every fork in the road. For those poor suckers who end up at Silverman's, fight your way through a gauntlet of Jersey elbows, buy a tiny $15 bag of apples for your toddler (required) and dream about that peaceful weekend you were looking forward to. read more

This place is a total rip off!!! I have been going here for years and have noticed an incline in price every year as the place actually gets worse. I will give a full breakdown of my experience I recently had and why i feel the way I do. 1) The petting zoo, this is an absolute embarrassment. The charge to now enter this showing of sheep, 1 cow, and chickens is 5$ each. 5 dollars you may think is not much, but to see a bunch of basic farm animals for 15 minutes, I think it is. This used to be about 2 dollars each if I remember less than 5 years ago. 2) The apple picking and tractor ride. at most of these farms, you go out on a ride, pick your apples, then come back and pay for what you picked. Here, they make you purchase a bag beforehand just to go up to the orchard. If you have 2 people you must spend 15 dollars on a bag. 3 people and you have to spend over 20 for a bag. I went with 2 children and need to spend over 20 dollars just to take them on a ride? we didn't even really want apples, maybe like 5 at most. Being forced to buy a certain amount of apples seems just wrong. 3) The country store with apples, donuts, and pies. I have had most of the items they offer throughout the years and they are quite tasty. The taste is not the issue, the thing wrong with this is that a pie is $15! You mean to tell me the place actually making the pies themselves charge about 3 times more than if you go get one at a local supermarket. Yes, I understand the product is fresh yada yada but 15 dollars for a pie that in my opinion is just good, is way too much. The pumpkins are also a rip off, these things grow like weeds and are basically thrown away for 90% of the year but they manage to charge an arm and a leg. The only thing that makes this a 2 star experience over 1 star, is that the children were very happy. They went and frolicked around and had a grand ole time. Unfortunately, there are other things that need to be considered. An hour at a farm should not be a 50 dollar experience, it's just wrong and Silvermans will get away with this until people finally stop going. Pick your own! Growing up in Connecticut, I can remember how apple picking was a staple event of the fall season. It's an excuse to get outdoors while the weather is still nice and literally enjoy the fruits of your labor after the fact. I was a little put off by the $15 per peck price (you must pre-purchase peck or bushel bags), as I didn't recall it being so expensive. But, Silverman's runs a tight ship. They take you up to the orchards on a tractor and debrief you on picking etiquette and the season's ripest. Tractors run about every 15 minutes. There were peaches for picking as well in mid September. Pies, cider doughnuts, apple dumplings, kettle corn and various jams, dressings and other delicious fall treats can also be found at the market at the bottom. There's a petting zoo for kids as well. It's a great fall outing in Fairfield County for families and anybody looking to get into that fall spirit. read more

Total tourist trap. Such a disappointment after driving so long to get there. First, anyone over the age of THREE must purchase a tiny bag as an entrance fee to the orchards to pick your apples, for $18. Seriously??? The lines to participate in this travesty are insanely long. The worst part was, that most of the apples we picked were inedible because they had WORMS in them. I discovered this after we returned home, when we wanted to eat some of the delicious fresh apples we had paid an insane price for. So, most of the $36 worth of apples we picked went straight into the trash. Insult to injury. The petting zoo is an additional cost per person ($5 for children and $6 per adult). I'll never return. I'll give my money to a REAL orchard with a better selection of apples, that aren't worm-food. read more

Silverman's farm is a great place to spend a fall day with the family! First of all, this place is bigger than I expected. When I saw the parking lot, which reminded me of a small Great Adventure parking lot, I was scared. There were at least 10 police/attendants running this parking lot. I had been expecting a little farm with an old lady selling tickets for apple picking. However, Silverman's farm, as big and as crowded as it is, runs like a well oiled machine! It was actually an operations management marvel. How did they get thousands of people in and out and happy, and there was never a line anywhere!?!? Pretty amazing, I must say. They must hire some great people and have some very solid procedures in place!!! Now, for the fun stuff!!! Apple picking was awesome. You take a tractor ride to the top of the hill with a bag (and from my research, I think that Silverman's is cheaper than most). The people are all so nice, there are plenty of beautiful apples to pick. One of the attendants found a tree so that my 16 month old could pick his own apples right from the tree, and he took a picture for us! they recommended apples for eating and baking, and were spot on. The petting zoo was nice! It did not smell at all. I don't know how they did that!?!?!? The sheep were very vocal with their BAHH's, and my son loved it!!! We bought lots of stuff at the shop too, and so far, it's all been amazing!!! Apple cider (hot and cold), kettle corn, pumpkin and cherry pies, mustard, CT maple syrup, apple cider donuts, an American flag cutting board, steak sauce, and more. I would definitely recommend Silverman's farm! And....it's only an hour from NYC. And the drive was very nice, with the leaves beginning to change! read more

Back when I was a wee toddler, my nursery school took us to Silverman's Farm. I remember going to their petting zoo (which, back then, was awesome), and getting to watch the Cider Press. We lived down the road from here, so once my parents realized I was old enough to appreciate the place they would bring me back every year. It wasn't autumn unless you got to go to Silverman's and get apple cider! Unfortunately when I went back with my little cousin years ago, it appears to have gotten pricier to feed the animals (which you can't get close to) and all the prices in general. Okay, inflation, I understand. Plus things aren't as clean as they used to be, and a lot of the animals look sad. What I don't understand is why the cider press is not there anymore. That was the best part of the experience, and was really the only thing saving this place. I know they are still busy and still have their loyal throngs of customers, but I now find myself going further into Easton and beyond to find places to get my apples and apple cider. read more

If it weren't for my kids love of animals I am not sure I'd go here. The petting farm is usually where we spend our time when going here. I personally think it's a rip off and can't believe they make you pay for children under the age of 2. They can barely walk never mind feed the animals. I've also found most employee's to be less than friendly. Some days they seem nice and then the next time we go the same exact person is stand offish and rude. I have been to Silverman's farm in the past to purchase a pie or to their petting zoo, however, this year I decided to try them for apple picking. After waiting in a line your required to purchase a bag for each person taking the tractor ride to the orchard. So there were 3 of us: myself, husband and son so we had to purchase three bags! I really only wanted 1 bag, but was forced to buy the others. Even two bags would have been reasonable - but three bags is way too many apples/peaches for us!! Sure enough most of them went bad - even with us giving them away! The experience itself of picking the apples/peaches was nice. My son played in the corn kernals for a bit. But, with that comes a heck of a lot of people and long lines to get on the hay cart and roped off areas for you to apple pick. I went to Silverman's for the first time this fall and will be making it a yearly tradition. First, allow me to make one thing clear- try the cinnamon apple donuts. Buy twice the amount you would normally get. Trust me, I speak from experience and can save you from making the same mistake I did! Ok, now that that's taken care of I can go back to my review... The petting zoo is one of the more pleasant ones I've been to. Most people are probably not concerned with the size of the enclosures but I found the majority of them to look ok. A little muddy, yes, but not cramped. There are fences between you and most of the shorter animals, but you can feed them through the links. There are a lot of larger animals, too, including an Emu, a large ox (careful, he has a foot-long tongue!) and llamas. It's a lot of fun. There are also washing stations with soap at the exit. The farm is great to visit any time but it's especially fun in the fall. You can take a wagon up into the fields to pick apples (I think peaches were also in season), they have a huge selection of pumpkins of all different shapes and colors and if you can guess the weight within a certain amount I believe you get a discount or get it free, I can't remember. In the weekends leading up to Halloween they have a sort of little fair with kettle corn and different vendors at the site. There's also a store with produce and various products prepared by the farm. I hear their pies are ridiculous! read more

I've been here plenty of times. My most recent trip was to go apple picking. Had to be the best time I've had there. There was an abundant amount of apples and they were delicious. The bags were a bit expensive, but you have to understand you're supporting a local farm that properly grows their products. I also got a Christmas tree from here before. I wouldn't recommend this farm for trees though. Pretty expensive and not a huge selection. If you're going there for apple or pumpkin picking, it's a great choice! read more

PESTICIDES I drove by Silverman's Farm early one day this past week (11/5) and Silverman's was dousing their crops in a think mist of pesticides. The tractor was making it's sweep down by the road and had I thought quicker I would have closed my vents. The chemicals wafted in and left a terrible taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively) and terrible stench in the car for miles to come. Clearly I will no longer visit this farm but I have to worry about the people who live in the vicinity. read more
