Food and service were both great. Portions were just right. We are outdoor and it was nice and breezy.

Tuna burger is fire, really enjoyed the meal. The chips appetizer was really good too!

The oysters were great. The lobster was nice and fresh as well! Nice classy atmosphere- perfect for a date night.

We celebrated a law school graduation dinner and all enjoyed the food. Too many good options and not enough shareable appetizers. We had the potato chips with cheese - supposedly blue and a few others - it tasted fine but was very unattractive as it used bagged potato chips and should have used house fried chips and real blue cheese crumbles not a thick gloopy sauce. It also needed some parsley or chopped scallions for color and a few drops of Tabasco on top would really help zip it up a bit. The bacon wrapped grilled shrimp with chili sauce tasted good but it was weird with the rice as an appetizer and it needed much less sauce per plate and more shredded veg. The ragu bolognese special had tremendous depth of flavor with ground pork and pieces of pot roast in it. The flavors were rich and bright. Beware of any steak specials as the come out covered with sauteed mushrooms in a veal reduction sauce and our server did not even mention it. The pork mignons on the Brussels sprout, apple and potato pancake was delicious again with great grilled flavor on the meat. The veal parmesan chop was very tasty with a nice thin breading and a tasty garlic olive oil pasta but the meat was full of cartilage and should have been trimmed better before breading. The wedge salad had way too much dressing poured on it - like 1/2 a cup! The lamb shank was enormous and tender And the pot roast was also very flavorful and tender. read more

The beer selection here is pretty good. There is a focus on craft beers and local beers brewed in New York State. We had a tapas style meal here. We shared tuna tartar lettuce tacos, bacon wrapped shrimp, a portobello mushroom burger, and a charcuterie board. The items had a great balance of flavors. My favorite was the tuna tartar lettuce tacos which came with a whipped wasabi butter. It was a light dish, yet I felt it had one of the widest ranges of flavors. The food was delicious and I honestly found the service to be fantastic, as we got there around 5:15 before the dinner rush. Unfortunately, I ordered the lobster tail, and to my surprise it was a lobster cut in half. I was able to scoop 3 pieces out of the tail, absolutely nothing out of the actual body, and 2 more pieces out of the claw. I received 5 bites of lobster for $30 There was also no salad or soup added as a side to the entree. I had 5 pieces of lobster, some scoops of delicious mashed potatoes, a few bites of broccoli, and left the restaurant feeling hungry. I am a fairly light eater and don't tend to finish my meals when eating out, but this time I finished my dish before my husband and was left unsatisfied. My husband gave me some of his dish to compensate, but I definitely don't recommend the lobster dish for dinner. read more

We tried to eat here today and before we could even ask for a table, three different white women informed me and my nonwhite friend we weren't "following the rules" somehow. We first "cut" through the dining area, then we needed to "wait our turn" to ask for a table even though the white couple behind us was just walking by and not asking for a table, and then when we asked to be seated near the music they needed to balance their count. When white people worry about cancel culture, just remember all the ways you cut other people out and then get upset if they call your racism out. Somehow I'd rather not spend $100 on a subpar dining experience. You all need to teach your hosts and servers how to be welcoming to nonwhite guests or we can easily take our business elsewhere. The first time I came here was for one of my graduation dinners. I had never tried Simeon's before, but it seemed like a nice little restaurant and my parents liked the prices compared to the other classy restaurants that we were considering for graduation weekend. They didn't have any restrictions for graduation weekend like many restaurants do nor did they require a contract or deposit. The prices are reasonable for a higher end restaurant and in comparison to the other nice restaurants in the Ithaca area. It is located on a corner in the Commons and has dark maroon awning. The decor inside is a bit old fashioned and bronze moldings. The decorations are not much to rave about, but the food is. Our table was to the left when we entered and on a platform, so we could oversee the rest of the restaurant. We started with a 2009 Standing Stone Vineyards Chardonnay, which was very tasty and very inexpensive (relatively speaking)! It was a very pleasant surprise and paired beautifully with the seafood that I will later describe. My mom, brother, and I went first and had to wait for my other brother and dad to arrive. The waitress was very polite and allowed us to sit even though the whole party wasn't there. She was very friendly and described all of the specials for the day. We ended up ordering before my dad and brother arrived and ordered almost all of the specials, and I'm so glad we did. All of the dishes we ordered were seafood dishes, and they were oh-my-god-amazing: - mediterranean salmon with israel couscous and artichokes - lobster stuffed salmon with haricot verts and bismati rice - pan seared sea bass with mashed potatoes and haricot verts - shrimp campanelle with a white wine garlic sauce - clams, shrimps, and seabass in a white wine clam sauce and housemade fettucine All of the seafood was cooked perfectly and was extremely flavorful. They were plated beautifully, and I highly recommend Simeone's for your graduation celebratory dinners (just a note: if you plan on making reservations for grad weekend, call in January or early February because good time slots fill up fast)! I am ecstatic that we decided to take a chance on this place for my graduation dinner because it was an extremely memorable one. read more

I've been before for brunch which I thought was average/above average, but finally came for dinner and was quite disappointed. We had the clam chowder, broiled lobster, and the special asiago-crusted seabass. The food itself was not bad, the seabass was cooked well, the sides and soup were good as well. Would not recommend the lobster, it was bland and served with a side of plain butter. The bigger issue was that they changed the food we ordered without asking. I have a nut allergy and I appreciate it when restaurants are cautious about it but I had a big issue about them changing the seabass, which was ordered by my partner without asking/telling us. They served it without the panko crust because of my allergy despite it not being what I ordered. However, they never asked if we wanted that way and it was still served with pesto (which has nuts in it?) so I wasn't able to have it anyway... I've never been in this situation before, and we were a bit too confused about what happened and only realized after we had the food. read more

After drink order was complete we were told only cold food available! Why not tell us this before. Only hot item is soup and u guessed it, out of that too. Salad and appetizers only! A waitress who could've cared less- not there problem. Shrimp cocktail with 3 pieces of shrimp - $250 later. Way over priced, Salad Ok! Drinks good but not for a 45 min wait for cold food! Preface: the food I had was good and our waitress was amazing. There are two reasons for this low rating: 1. My parents' entrees were too salty. I tried their food to verify (I like salty food). Indeed, their dishes were salty to a fault. 2. No one at the restaurant explained the prix fixe structure, and we were charged an extra $60 for non-alcoholic drinks we didn't order. This was frustrating because we weren't told that this was included in the special (also not specified on the menu) - most restaurants I've been to don't include non-alcoholic beverages in prix fixe. We expressed discontent about the unfair charge, and the owner came out to talk to us. The owner was clearly having an attitude problem and treated us quite rudely. He didn't give us the time of day and only took off $20 from the $60 charge after trying to argue against us. This is a disgrace to the hospitality industry. Suffice to say, I will never eat here again on principle. read more

We were a party of 2 with a baby. We waited over 45 min to be seated, and I noticed parties of 2 that were after us being seated before us. People who had finished their meals and paid were sitting around with nothing on their tables the ENTIRE time we were waiting. I noticed the owner walking around but he never did anything about this. Pretty frustrating. Given he was taking laps, you would think he would be either checking in with guests or making sure things were running smoothly. Once we were seated it took a while for our order to be taken, and another while for food to come out. By the time our food came out we had been there for almost 2 hours, and they had also forgotten to bring out our appetizer. Overall very disappointing. My friend from Korea were visiting Ithaca. We were debating about the place to go eat and found this place. This place was beyond awesome. I ordered braised pork shoulder. At first, i saw the review and i was hesitant about it. However, i just want to judge for myself!! And i absolutely loved it. It had grilled apple and spaetzle which went well with braised pork shoulder. It was very unique taste and I loved it. Oyster appetizer was very fresh and mussels were very tasty. Coffee and desert's taste were fantastic. Service was awesome as well. The waiter was very kind and friendly. If i ever have a chance to go back to Ithaca, i will definitely re-visit this place. read more

Bummed Tried this place in the Fall of 2017 and was looking forward to it. The room is great, the menu inventive but the service was horrible. That human being masquerading as our waiter should not be interacting with other human beings for a living. The food was good, but not over the top enough to compensate for the poor service. HEADLINE: OWNER THROWS TANTRUM OVER CUSTOMER COMPLAINT! Customer complains house red came with excessive sulphite sediments and asks not to be charged for it. Manager comes out and says "sediments are normal, and she herself saw the bottle just being opened, but, fine, she'll take it off the bill." Family continues to eat. OWNER then comes out, *slaps* check on table (family having just started to eat main courses!), and angrily lectures customer that sediments in wine are normal and expected and if customer wants wine to be decanted, then don't order house (at, ahem, a "cheap" $15/glass). Customer expected better from a place that says to take pride in its hospitality and wine connoisseurship (as OWNER made sure to remind customer during his diatribe). OWNER walks away in a huff while family remains flabbergasted at the incident, food barely touched. OWNER leaves restaurant glaring at customer. Waitress approaches, takes check away, saying we can stay as long as we want. Awkward! Family is confused, lunch is ruined, college-bound child is mortified, and Simeon's remains true to its fame as the snottiest restaurant of the region. Simeon's clearly doesn't need this customer, and customer and his family certainly don't need Simeon's clumsy leadership and sludgy, overpriced house wine. Well, no way for me to tell. We arrived at 8:30 pm and were referred by a very friendly waitress to the hostess. She told us that the restaurant was " ready to close", which surprised us, given that their posted hours end at 09:30 pm. After leaving and walking back Autora st, we were pleased to see a couple being just seated at Simeon's. Where we profiled by the hostess? Did she think that we would not be able to afford their food? Ah, so many questions. I guess we'll never know the answer since I will never spend a single dime at this place. It's very unfortunate that Simeon's customer service is SO POOR. We (my family and I) bought a $100 gift card to spend at what is considered an amazing restaurant and made reservations accordingly in advance. We have been trying to contact them OVER 2 WEEKS to explain that we can not make the reservation and need to change it. EACH time someone tells us that they will be returning the call. NO ONE seems to be able to help us and what is worse is that they say we can not have our money back!! That would be fine if they would be more helpful. Went to this restaurant last night and made a reservation. Was put in the very back room/part of the restaurant. It has a totally different feel in the back as it is not as nice (does not have the same ambiance as the main room). This was disappointing as there were tables available in the main room and didn't want to have to pay the price of the menu dishes for a pizzeria type setting in the back. Waitress took forever to check on us and give us our bill too. We felt like we were forgotten in the back. I only recommend coming here if you can sit outside or in the main room. read more

There were many different options for different tastes. Unfortunately, I felt like the flavor of my food for the ambience, menu and prices should have more delightful to my tastebuds. My burger was a bit like a hockey puck and not even that size and I ordered it medium upon her recommendation. She said their burgers were delicious. Nope. My husbands salmon portion was on the smaller size. My son was happy w his steak, potatoes and carrots. My Napa Chardonnay was very smooth w a buttery flavor. We haven't been back to Simeon's since before the accident and WELCOME BACK. One of the most elegant and beautiful restaurants in Ithaca, NY right now. After coming and going for 20 years now, they've really upped the ante here with a complete menu. We are in town for a conference and this place is pretty much across the street from my hotel. I had the steamed mussels and the kettle chips with cheese fondue. My server was quick friendly and kept checking in on me to make sure I had everything that I needed. The food was very tasty. Definitely want to go back. A true gem read more
