    My mom and I.
    Mel C.

My mother has severe dementia. Since she was diagnosed in 2018 she has been in 5 different facilities around the Los Angeles area and let me say that one would be worse than the other previous one. It was scary at times thinking I would never find a good one until I found Simi Valley Care Center and moved her here. I finally do not have to worry about my mom 24-7 with the type of care she is receiving. From the front desk to the nurses to the aids they are all very caring for my mom. It's been the first time in years that I do not feel all alone in dealing with this life debilitating horrible disease that has taken my sweet mom from me. Thank you Simi Valley Care Center for caring for my sweet mom and for some peace of mind.

I was very nervous as I have heard terrible things about nursing homes but i can ensure you, these nurses and staff - they care. Sharpnum who is an LVN, Val who is a head nurse, Nancy, Melissa, Stephanie and Sophie who all took such amazing care of my dad AND were so amazing every time i visited. I don't know what I would have done with out these ladies. They care about their parents and everyone was sad to see my dad go and I will miss them. If you need to find a place for your loved one, I would highly recommend this place & thank you to the staff! Dana at the front desk always was so helpful on the phone and had a smile on greeting me everyday!

I brought my mother here after knee…read moresurgery expecting a safe, supportive environment focused on rehabilitation and recovery. Instead, I checked her out because I did not feel comfortable leaving her in their care. From our experience, the environment did not feel focused on helping my mother regain her independence. We were told she would not have a walker readily available and that staff would not assist her with getting up to use the bathroom. The apparent solution was to keep her in diapers. For a patient recovering from knee surgery who needs appropriate assistance with mobility and basic hygiene, this was completely unacceptable to me. We were also presented with a consent form regarding giving my mother sleeping medication at night. That raised another serious concern for our family, particularly when combined with everything else we were witnessing. What disturbed me most, however, was not limited to my mother's care. While I was there, other patients were asking ME to get them water because they said staff would not provide it. When I brought this to a staff member's attention, I was essentially told not to worry about it because they didn't need water. That moment told me everything I needed to know. These are human beings--many of them elderly, recovering, vulnerable, and dependent on the people working there for their most basic needs. Seeing patients asking a complete stranger for WATER was heartbreaking. I cannot speak to what happens here every day or to every patient's experience. I can only describe what I personally witnessed during my mother's stay, and what I saw was enough for me to remove her from the facility. The entire experience left me deeply concerned about the level of attention being given to patients' basic needs, dignity, mobility, and rehabilitation. It also left me questioning whether the priorities of this facility are truly centered around patient recovery. If you have a parent or loved one being sent here after surgery, I strongly recommend that you visit the facility yourself, ask detailed questions about mobility assistance, bathroom assistance, medications, hydration, staffing, and rehabilitation, and advocate for your loved one. I am grateful that I was there and able to advocate for my mother. What worries me most are the patients who may not have family members present to do the same.

I am only 57 and I was told that hip replacement usually happens in older adults. Any way I could tell as soon as I got there that I was going to be taken care of. From nursing to social services to OT and PT... everyone just seems to care about each patient... individually. Shout out to ABNER from OT, ANNABELL from PT, both have helped me with strengthening muscles and range of motion. They made sure to give me a plan to take with upon discharge. I am so grateful. Nurses CHRISTIAN and ELLE were always going above and beyond. CNA's Maria, Maria and Vanessa helped with all the tasks I needed assistance with... lol Kitchen staff delivered creamer and hot water in the morning (for my instant coffee delivered by Uber Eats) BEFORE BREAKFAST !! So cool I am well on the road to recovery. And a special shout out to JOSE, mi amigo!! Always has a solution and made sure my exit plan was solid. https://fb.watch/GPJLzYQNKa/

They made me instantly feel welcomed and comfortable, and throughout my stay I grew even more appreciative for the compassion and skill level of the staff. Their approach is very holistic and expands far beyond just the 12 steps. We learned meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, acupuncture, among many other things. The therapists are the best I've ever spoken with. I had 2 assigned to me including a trauma therapist who helped me work through issues I had never really spoken about with anyone before, helping connect my childhood trauma with my substance abuse issues, and giving me the tools to deal with it. The house is very spacious and comfortable with a giant pool and hot tub, and we had time to relax and match movies and hang out. I laughed a lot with the other clients and had more fun than I ever would have imagined in rehab and made new friends that I've continued to stay friends with after leaving. Beyond just getting clean, the Villa gave me the breakthroughs and tools I needed to stay sober and taught me how to enjoy life, laugh, and have fun without needing alcohol and for that I'm forever grateful. Review for Veronica,…read more It is a joy to have you in my home and taking care of me. You truly have a heart like Jesus, as He said, 'I have come to be a servant of all and show you the Father's love through my actions.' Your daily actions, such as always entering my home with a sweet greeting and a smile. No matter what may have occurred on your drive to work you never let it change your kindness and compassion towards me. Your daily respect for my autonomy and personal choices have been a great relief and blessing to me. Last year, 2025, was enormously difficult for me physically, emotionally and mentally. I was badly injured by a caregiver who really didn't want to be with me. She wanted to run my life instead of letting me make my own decisions. Everything was a struggle. I am still dealing with the pain and suffering from her carelessness almost a year later. You, however, are the complete opposite of that caregiver. You show genuine care, compassion and empathy to me. At the same time you keep a close watch on me for my episodes, for any unusual reactions, for changes in my body or mind that may indicate something physically is about to happen or something that is happening without my knowledge. Your daily care of me is exceptional. Everything from reading my body signs or noticing that I am in the middle of a call, task or just not ready. Yet, you come back or tell me it's getting late for something we have scheduled. This may be as simple as my breakfast or as important as helping me to get ready for my doctor appointments, my bloodwork or therapy. You encourage me to try many things that can help my health, mood or my outlook for the day. Such as, helping me relearn my Spanish while I help you with English, or walking around the house with my gait belt and walker. You keep me on top of my goals. These can be as basic as making my bed every time I get up (in the morning and after my nap). In fact, this helped me create and continue this habit. Another goal of mine is building my strength and stamina enough to walk around outside my home. This has not happened yet, as I have been primarily bed bound since February 19, 2025. You encourage my stretching in bed to keep my body as limber as possible. This helps reduce injury in case of a fall. My personal Internist, Dr. Fondren of Newport Beach certainly appreciates your encouragement and reminders to help me to regain the strength I have lost since February 2025. (when a different caregiver injured me). Once I have regained a little more endurance, then I can start physical therapy. Finally, my family has been at peace with you being my main caregiver and I love how well you and Gabbi work together caring for me. Just knowing how dependable you both are, how you communicate with each other changes, concerns and even my meal planning and cooking. My sister and my son (they both call me almost every day) are amazed that I finally have a team like you and Gabbi. Thank you Veronica for everything and I look forward to 2026 being a great year with continued great care!
