I would even go as far as to say, not only do they put the agenda first, they are ONLY INTERESTED IN THEIR AGENDA. I was extremely disappointed in the office experience, and the supervisor thereof. My experience felt like no matter how many times, or in different ways I tried to communicate, nobody was interested, or listened with an ear to assist. My friend has been in this facility for almost a year. She doesnt get physcial therapy anymore so now she is not able to walk. The staff doesnt change her depends for hours. Last night she said they woke her up at 2:35 AM to chg her and get a sample of her private part per the doctors request. She had no knowledge of this so she fought them. (She is 91 and weighs 60 pounds). A male nurse held her down while the female nurse took the sample. Why wake her up at 2:35 AM. This place is horrible to my elder friend. I live out of state from her but sad she has to defending herself. Please consider another place to get rehab. read more

My father stayed at the Simi Valley Care Center for twenty months. He was always well cared for and known personally. In caring for my father, the center also cared for me - keeping me informed and aware, and checking in with me every visit I came to sit with my father. After celebrating my grandpa being on the mend they sent him here for "rehab", I went to visit him and it smells like a porta potty and after one short week here with terrible food, him falling on the floor with a care taker present, he ended up in the ER fighting for his life. I can't get into all the details for personal reasons but they did not adequately take care of my father and I am heart broken. My mom stayed here in 2023. The facility was filthy, 2 to a room, no screens on windows or air conditioning , they made 4 mistakes on her medication (because my mom found them), she feels they were listening to all her calls, she reported dirty moldy bathroom and feces left in toilet and the woman came in a SLAMMED an out of order sign on the window. She feels they also let her sit in her urine for way too long. They tried to make her take a shower without oxygen which she was completely dependent on. She said she needed a CPAP and with attitude shoved it at her and didn't set it up and it sat there unopened. My mom fell on the floor and couldn't get up and she said they were laughing at her. She truly felt they were trying to kill her in there or at least keep her sick enough to stay in there . My mom grabbed her cell phone to call 911 to come help her and it was only once fire department was coming in that they tried to help her up. My mom went to local hospital and then went home. She is still with us and AT HOME and will never go back that place. Someone needs to investigate this place. DO NOT SEND your loved ones here! This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. Oh, and my mom said that during COVID the front desk was charging visitors $5 each to come in. read more

My mother has severe dementia. Since she was diagnosed in 2018 she has been in 5 different facilities around the Los Angeles area and let me say that one would be worse than the other previous one. It was scary at times thinking I would never find a good one until I found Simi Valley Care Center and moved her here. I finally do not have to worry about my mom 24-7 with the type of care she is receiving. From the front desk to the nurses to the aids they are all very caring for my mom. It's been the first time in years that I do not feel all alone in dealing with this life debilitating horrible disease that has taken my sweet mom from me. The office worker was uninformed and stated Mom owed money which was not true. They forgot she had AARP. The worker threatened to have me investigated. Hired attorney to shut her up. My monther-in-law was released from Simi Adventist to this care facility to finish recovering until she was strong enough to return home. She is oxygen dependent and diabetic. From day 1 of arrival, it has been a nightmare. The hospital told them they needed to have a CPAP for her and upon arrival, no one could figure out how to set up or work the CPAP which was just the start of our problems. We have had different family members come to check on her throughout the days of her stay and so glad we did because she would be dead if we did not. In the mornings she has been found with her CPAP taken off for wake up, but then her oxygen tubing is not put on her let alone attached to the oxygen tank/machine and her oxygen levels in the low 70s with her shaking and incoherent. When trying to find a nurse, they are not around or saying it is not their job and to find her CNA on duty. Several times we'd visit and see patients with their meals, but she had not received her food yet even though meal time had started an hour ago and had to find someone to bring her her meal. If you have a loved one that has to be taken to this facility, be prepared to do their job for them, especially if they are medicare/medical, as this seems to be the ones who will get the least amount of attention or care. If you do not check in several times daily, you may find your loved neglected, or worse, dead. Also, this isn't just happening to us. She had a roommate who's daughter had to take her mom out of this facility for neglect too. Please check in on your family member if you have them in this facility. read more

I just went to visit a friend here and can't imagine how this can be allowed, patients are forced to lay in there feces for hours, really cleaned only twice a week and if you ring for help 30-45 min. I was going to give 1 star, but gave 2 as staff are doing the best they can despite being understaffed. I would never recommend this place. My 89 year old dad fell and after almost a week in hospital was not ready to go home so he was discharged here. The moment you walk in the smell is awful. There are patients in wheelchairs all over that you need to weave through. After a week my dad tested positive for Covid and was out in a room with 2 others for isolation. One person yelled helped during all waking hours and tapped his fingers on something. Was glad when isolation over and went back to a 2 person room. My dad was never going to regain strength to walk as only allowed to get up with staff. One day my brother went go visit only to discover my dad was moved to a different room without any notification. Back to room with man who yells for help. My brother pushed call button for him and it was 30 minutes before anyone came. The food is awful. My dad requested no chicken or fish and there was always a slip of paper on tray with this circled in red. Still on numerous occasions he was given chicken. Thank goodness not an allergy. Then he would be given a sandwich. After 2 months we began looking for other options and found a very nice board and care. In the short time he's been there he has improved so much and is receiving much better care. Please think twice before putting a loved one in this facility. read more

My sister, Joy,. lived with this caring staff for 3 years. We live in Portland, Oregon. We were kept in the loop with frequent phone updates on her status, conference calls with multiple staff, and duo video calls with Joy. She was completely bed bound and had dementia, but was always positive about living there, unlike her last residence. Staff would stick their head in door and say "Hi Joy". She was on Medi-cal, but received the same level of care as medicare or private pay residents. I received multiple calls from staff to express their condolences after she passed April 7th. Don't allow your parent to go here! My Mom spent almost an hour in the bathroom waiting for help after pulling the emergency cords. If you need assistance to the restroom, they take at least 20 minutes to help you, by the time they come she's already had an accident! My mom is a fall risk and ends up taking herself to the bathroom. Yesterday she fell and they didn't even docu it, even after taking X-rays! I visited her Saturday (2 days ago) brought her a beautiful plant with flowers and this morning they were gone! Stay away and take your loved one elsewhere. read more

I had a family member admitted to this facility recently. There are no words on Gods green earth that I can describe the lack of treatment that was received. As a family member, I cannot put into words how I was treated by the administration staff. It was appalling. In addition, Scott is a complete phony. Friendly enough when your family member is admitted, then you are treated like an enemy when you have your family member discharged. Do not send your loved ones here, My father Harold James Griffith, a great Dad and Grandfather was neglecte. He was fed slop for food. I had to bring him food because he wasn't able to eat the nasty puréed food that had a grosse smell. For being a vietnam veteran he's was treated so bad that his health steadily declined over the course of two years until he passed away on 1/31/22. His legs atrophied because of neglect due to no reabilitive activit just because he didn't have insurance that was good enough. Terrible place to spent the last years of your life. read more

My best friends mom was sent here after having to go on a trach. She was put in a room with two other trach patients, that were no longer responsive. She was. She contacted MRSA and was never moved and then we were told the other women already had it! In other words she contacted it from them. Most of the nurses are very kind, but she was abused(severe bruising on arms and legs) after trying to get out of her bed. She was in the wrong to try to get out, but she wanted out of there and I don't blame her! The worst part is that when she had MRSA no one let me know till 20 minutes into my visit! I had checked in and no one warned me! I kissed her and was holding her hand only to have two women come in and question who I was and did I know she had a resistant contagious disease? Um no! No safety kit set up in room and no signs on door! So fortunately I did not catch anything but the carelessness of all this is why these illnesses are running rampant thru care centers! In my opinion Do Not leave your loved one here unless you can go daily and be a strong advocate! We have filed an abuse case, but nothing will change. If you are looking for a place you can feel good about leaving your family member, STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. If there were a zero star rating, that us what I'd be giving. My 83 year old father in law was checked in here today to rehabilitate after a car accident. We are working to get him transferred as soon as possible. - Smells like urine and feces - staff didn't even read his chart to see he is there with a broken back, and they let him get up to go to the restroom when their doctor specifically said he shouldn't get up and walk before their physical therapist assessed him. If letting him walk wasn't bad enough, they didn't even bother to put on his back brace. - he is on a strict diabetic diet, especially with his sugar spiking over 300 from the recent accident stress, and they served a bologna sandwich and a brownie for dinner - staff were completely disengaged being more concerned about the Dodgers playoff game than understanding their patient's needs - family members have had to tell them what he's there for, when they are the health "professionals" who are expected to provide expert care. We are so terribly upset that we had to leave him at this awful place. Hopefully insurance will provide another option. read more

However the first Dr. She was set up with here was a joke! DR. FLORA and his minion DR. CHEMA. should be relieved of all medical privileges because they are here for nothing but a paycheck. Even SIMI HOSPITAL thinks these two are a joke! It's a running joke around the nurses station... "why don't you try calling Dr. Flora!".... his own staff has zero respect for him becasue he's lazy and only cares about $. I let him once for 5 seconds and then spoke with him NEVER, after I fired him and moved to the only other Dr. The center has. Lucky for us he's competent and shows up! read more

I have a relative at the facility complaining about the care they are receiving here. The facility is very short handed so when asked for help it could take up to an hour to get help. Some of the physical therapists are very rude with no compassion. It breaks my heart that we can not visit our family member and help out. Because we can't, they need to hire more nice employees to care for our loved ones. I wish my family member didn't have to be there but we are left with no choice at this time. Please read: Today my niece and sister-in-law showed up at this facility to check out the place for a family member who is in need of nursing care. We had made an appointment a couple of Days ago with Stacey. After signing in and waiting 10-15 minuets, we were informed that Stacey will not be able to make our appointment; however a nice lady volunteered to show us around. This is what we saw and experienced. Completely smelly, cluttered, hallways blocked to a point that with all the residents it has caused a fire hazard and escape problem. In addition to the above the entire place truly appeared that it was not updated since the mid seventies. Please read the review before mine; it is truly unclean and I can understand how residents can get infected from the facility. I have not been this disgusted in a long time. No way I would take a loved one to this place; furthermore, I am questioning where these people have gotten the 5 star ratings from. God help all who are currently stuck in there. read more

My young boyfriend suffered a stroke several weeks ago and after 6 weeks of the BEST care at Los Robles Hospital, was discharged. After touring several skilled nursing rehabilitation centers, I chose Simi Valley Care Center. I was very apprehensive at first, not being through this sort of situation before. He has now been there for three weeks and I (we) are so pleased with the care and facility, I wanted to write this review to help others. Our experience here has been wonderful. The CNAs, nurses, all the therapists, housekeeping, etc. are caring, passionate about what they do and definitely knowledgeable. It was imperative, in our situation, that therapies (physical, speech and occupational) start immediately - and they did!! The therapists are fantastic, showed up every day - even on Sundays - and were always pushing for improvement! There is a beauty salon at the facility, open once a week, a patio to sit in the sunshine, activities, and games and, I was able to bring my lab to visit! Once a month there is a dinner with live entertainment for the patients and their family and friends, put together by the staff with love and attention to every patient's dietary needs. It takes a special person to work at a facility like this, caring for others with compassion and respect. There are always going to be complaints, as our loved ones are very special to us and leaving them under the care of strangers is scary. In my (our) experience, Simi Valley Care Center is peace of mind. Of course, nothing substitutes daily visits by family members :) I hope my review will help others when and if it ever becomes necessary to make such an important decision. read more

My roommate and I would call the food mystery food. The whole,time I have been here I had diarrera. The food smells bad and is uneadable. Any cookie, cake, or muffin is not cooked in the middle. My grandma was here last month, and the adjustment was really hard on her at first. We don't have much family, and all she has is me. But the staff were super friendly and accommodating of all her needs. They were supportive and encouraging. It helped me sleep at night knowing I didn't have to worry about her. My aunt has been there now for over 6 mos. very unimpressed. Came in to see her one day and blood all over her hand somehow her fingernail was ripped off. No the she could not have done this she was in a coma at that time. Just recently I got a call stating her foot was broken and nobody seems to know how? Really!!! I'm sure it happened when they were taking her to the shower but no one is taking responsibility. Came in 2 days ago and she was sweaty I asked them to check her blood sugar sure enough it way low 40. This place is not a place to bring any long term care. Very incompetent staff. read more
