In my 2-year-old 2023 Dodge Promaster Ram, the speakers were underperforming so I reached out to Discount Car Stereo in Simi Valley. Talked to Don he sold me $300, Pioneer speakers he said would outperform my factory stock speakers. While he was installing the speakers I told him I wanted to keep the stock speakers. He replied the speakers had been destroyed by the guy when removing them. (Red flag #1) Fast forward one-year, 2025. The right-side speakers DON'T WORK...NO SOUND, NOTHING! (Red flag #2) I call DON and we sent an appointment for noon apt 12/9/25. Upon arrival he tells me the Pioneer speakers he sold me have no warrantee. (Red flag #3) Tries to sell me on the fact that I may need to buy more speakers. (Red flag #4) Says I also may have a faulty (2-year-old Factory) car stereo. (Red flag #5) Wants to reschedule todays 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock. (Red flag #6) RED FLAG #7 he don't want you watching his guys while they're 'F' ing up your car! I WISH I COULD RATE NEGATIVE STARZ!!! This guy charged $480 to change 4 speakers in my car with kenwood, and another $500 for an amp. When I got my car back, it wasn't working right and making weird noises and I couldn't control the volume and I couldn't see out the back camera . I took it to Best Buy where I found out, he didn't sell me kenwood speakers, it's Chinese brand I've never heard of. And Best Buy was completely shocked at the work he did, so now I have to spend another $400 to fix this and do it the right way. Best Buy also said that the amp he gave me will blow out all my speakers and I shouldn't play the music loud. read more

I went in to get a new switch for the electric door locks. An older fellow came over and didn't even look at the car or any part of the existing, working alarm system. As he turned on his heel and walked away, all he said was "we don't fix things, we sell you whole new alarm." Not a way to bring in customers. There's another business just a building east who was eager to help me, and looked at the car. The guy gave me ideas and a reasonable quote. I'm going back there. read more

We drive a 2011 Chevrolet HHR and our auto radio started to lose signal in mid April. I took the car to Simi Valley Car Stereo who diagnosed the problem as a bad antenna and I agreed to replace it with a new antenna that they recommend for $297.87. When the installation was complete they told me the two left speakers were bad and they needed to be replaced. This was news to me as I thought they were fine when I drove in so I told the owner that I would think about it. He said he would give me a great deal. I returned two days later to see what the great discount would be and ask how two speakers can blow at the same time. He told me that when one goes it can take the other. He then offered me two new speakers for $189.90. and I accepted. With a new antenna and two new speakers, I was surprised at the amount of static especially on the AM band. I also heard a swishing sound every time I turned the wheel. I returned to the shop and and they worked for half a day to find the problem before giving up and telling me it is a problem with the car itself and I should take it to a dealer. They charged me $200.00 for the labor and the diagnosis. I took the car to a Chevrolet dealer and they told me the car shouldn't have the amplified antenna as it picks up auto electronic noises. That cost $185.00. So I returned to the Stereo Shop and explained the situation of the wrong antenna being installed and he told me that I signed a receipt that says "All sales final - no refunds". We are left with a noisy radio and an empty wallet with no recourse. Bottom line is they sold us and installed the wrong kind of antenna for our car. The left speakers were working great before they installed the new antenna. And, the radio still is pretty much static. We have spent a bit under $1000 and our radio still is not working properly. This company will not reimburse us and will not admit wrong doing. read more

If you live in Simi Valley or near by Don't go to Simi Valley Car Stereo please I went there recommended by my mechanic and first I was thinking I went to the right place I explain to Don ( owner/ manager ) that it sound it like my subwoofer was bad , he told me he can fix it but it will take some time but he'll have it ready before 5 pm And it will be $ 300.00 dollars I agreed He call me one and half hrs later told me he had good news and that I was going to be happy I'm thinking I did come to the right place as I was on my way to get my car . When I got there he show me the good news it was just a rear speaker that was bad again I'm thinking i like place ( wrong ) When we went back in side I thank him and I ask him since it was only that one speaker how much is going to be he tells me $ 300.00 dollars. I try to tell him that it was too much but no it was 300 dollars he told me. I went back a couple days later and talk to him again I ask him if he thinks that it was fair he told me yes cuz he said he spent 2 hrs working on my car he charges $ 125.00 an hr ....and that he work 2 hrs on my car that's not true he call me 90 minutes after I drop off the car telling me my car was ready . I told him if he can live with that he can keep my $ 300.00 but he'll never see another penny I was going to have him put in a new system in my car but now I'm going to another place here in Simi Valley . DO NOT do business with these ppl. Ordered speakers 4 months ago I paid in full. Speakers were never ordered ask for a refund was refused and told they would reorder them. Guy was very rude and started blaming me for the speakers not getting ordered. Lack of accountability and worst customer service. I'm surprised they are still in business.
