The goat curry was equally impressive, packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. Every dish I tried was delicious and full of authentic taste. Here's what we ordered: - Samosas (Two thumbs up - nice spices with the perfect amount of kick) - Kale Pakora (I haven't seen this kale-only fritter before at other places that we've been; a new favorite. recommended app!) - Bagara Baingan (Eggplant in creamy tomato-based sauce; it's rich and flavorful, despite it being vegan. This will be a repeat order for me.) - Saag Panner (My partner's go-to intro dish when trying a new Indian spot; this SP was partner-approved) The dine-in experience had a cool, chill vibe and nice decor inside. With the lighting and music playing in the background, you kind of forget that you are in a strip mall. You're just immersed in this nice Indian dining experience with friendly staff and delicious food. On the weekends, there's a brunch buffet. That's a must-do on our list. The Service here is not just poor, it is NON-EXISTENT! Expect to sit a good solid 25 minutes before anyone steps up and at that point they are in a big rush to take your full order. How about opening our wine bottles first? Or asking if we have any questions. This is a BYOB and when it is this painful to get a bottle opened, you resort to bringing your own corkscrew as I did last night - problem solved ( with the exception of not being able to get wine glasses for another 15 minutes or so.) It seems the only person who hustles here, is the guy that works the front end and appears to be the owner. He should not have to do double and triple duty because the wait staff is awful. The once great food has changed as well. This was hands down the best Vindaloo I ever had, but this time there was NO spice at all! And the portion was reduced as well, I counted 3 pieces of Lamb and one measley sliced in half potato. And, it was a Saturday night and 3/4 empty, which speaks volumes. In that time, 5-6 people came to pick up their to-go orders, so the place is very popular! While we were viewing the menu we munched on what I believe is called papadum with 3 different sauces. My favorites were the minty one and the mango - delicious! To start, we ordered the Hara Bhara Kabob which were spinach and goat cheese patties. I absolutely loved these! Additionally, we tried the butter chicken lollipops. The lollipops themselves were so crispy and crunchy and the sauce - I really wanted to drink it (lol) it was soooo good! My husband really wanted the lamb vindaloo that he saw when he looked at the menu online and although it was not on the in restaurant menu, they still made it for him! I ordered the chicken tikka masala. Additionally we got the garlic naan which was MASSIVE and so aromatic! Both of us enjoyed our meals, expect the spice level on the lamb vindaloo was a bit much for my husband and he likes spicy. He struggled through eating it but kept on because the flavors were too good! When we ate our leftovers the next day, they were just as good!!!! Heating up the leftover naan filled my house with the best scent and everything tasted just as good as when we ate it freshly made at the restaurant. This time we cooled down the vindaloo with some yogurt which was perfect - flavors all still there just a bit more mild and we were able to savor them more without the struggle haha When I made my reservation, I informed them it was my husband's birthday and although we were full and did not get to dessert, they brought him out a dessert platter with their popular desserts and a candle. So, so kind! The platter had the carrot pudding - gajar ka halwa, gulab jamun and shakori rasmalai which was a sweet, spongy cottage cheese dessert which I've never had but was amazing! That was a sophisticated quiet lounge space with chill modern music and dark lighting and a host that was professional and effective. the food was incredible. however despite the sign in the window now, this isn't tashan. Gone is the calm and conducive atmosphere and now it's brightly lit, vibrating at times with loud Indian music and not the same. My last 45 minutes spent there had a host or manager basically yelling into the phone in the dining area 10 feet from me so loudly that the kindly waiter volunteered an apology because they were catering the next day. i actually had said nothing but that's how loud this guy was on the phone. i was the only diner. on a saturday night. All of these while mildly unpleasant details aren't why i'm not returning. it was the food. tashan's chicken tikka marsala had huge succulent cubes of chicken and quite a few immersed in a creamy incredible sauce. Now? Half the portion with six or seven stringy chunks of chicken in bland sauce. the enormous saddle size Naan of Tashan? Now it's the same size but this bread was lukewarm, flat, thin and bland. Samosas? Also not very tasty and were doughy. And the mango lassi with a thin cardboard straw took forever to suck out of the cup as it was medicine thick but was ok i guess. it saddens me to know an eatery that was so top notch is gone. Cook recently left - host returned to India. all good things come to an end.
