Went here for the first time based on reputation and reviews and came away disappointed. Apparently bread isn't their thing; cookies are. They offer a very wide assortment of colorful cookies and cupcakes all displayed very nicely so it looks kind of festive when you walk in. Specifically, I was looking for fresh baked cinnamon raisin bread but all they carry is rye and one or two loaves of white bread. They offered a wide assortment of biscotti as well, from anisette to pistachio. The biggest annoyance however was the counter help....young girls with an "I don't really want to be working here" attitude. So if you ask a question, you'll feel like your bothering them. One of them wasn't very bright and made no sense when she answered my question, but then went on to disagree with me and even provoke an argument but I refused to respond, took my cookies and left...don't think I'll go back now that I think of it, unless I'm looking for abuse. We were excited to try out this place after we saw it one day on the way to the beach... and after we tried it once, we knew we would make many trips back and bring more people to fall in love with it like we did. We have tried cupcakes, brownies, truffles, cookies, macaroons, crumb cake and more and every single item was consistently fantastic. Their breads are good. This is a satellite bakery to the one in Belmar. The baking is actually done there. Unless you honestly in the morning, you get whatever they have left. I would like to visit the one in Belmar. Road trip. :) read more

I have been going to Simona's Bakery since day one and I would never go anywhere else. Everything is always fresh and you can tell that everything is made with top of the line ingredients. The icing is not that hard sugary icing that you get from shop-rite or some other bakery's. I've gotten a wine bottle cake for my husband's 60th birthday, a diaper bag cake for a baby shower and a cupcake tower for my wedding. Simona's bakery made everything the way I asked - they looked great and tasted great! My favorite is the cheese cake - it's a must - I have never tasted a better cheese cake! This place smells like heaven when you walk in! They have at least 5 cases of cupcakes, breads, cookies, pastries and cakes. They had every cookie you could ask for - including the lace cookies, which are my fave. I hear they make custom cakes and wedding cakes. read more

kind of a sucker for bakeries... a quick walk at the beach on a chilly day made Simona's even more inviting and it was open a bit later than we might have expected. got some chocolate filled cookies and they were great- cookies were crisp but not too sweet and the chocolate filling was tasty but not overly sweet. Also got some hammentaschen... outer dough was good and the fillings were very nice and fresh (raspberry, apricot, lechvar). there were loads of cakes, cupcakes, danish, biscotti, almond flour cookies with nuts all over them, pies, crumb cakes, etc. I was trying to not be a piggy. would definitely visit again and try some other items. I wanted to get a really dessert for a dinner at my mom' s and she totally loves chocolate cake. So I asked the friendly girl behind the counter for the best chocolate cake they had. Super awesome and not too sweet and top notch ingredients. Plus--tasted sooo good and not cheap like if you bought one on sale or something. Beautifully decorated and impressive. We LOVED it!! Minus--you don't really notice from the road that this small building is a bakery they need more signage or something. Also the price I think was kind of high $30 but I did ask them for the best. We ordered a custom ship cake for my dad's 85th birthday and it was incredible! People in the restaurant were peeking into our private party to take photos and ask where it was from. Then we cut it - and it was delicious!! We thought it might taste just okay because all the work was in the artistry but it was scrumptious. They paid complete attention to every detail we asked for. It wasn't cheap but well worth the price for a special occasion. Some minor customer service glitches could be better (made & waited for appt but was met by someone other than Simona, meeting took place standing at register w/ customers waiting). So it has been 4 weeks today and I am even more angry than I was on my wedding celebration day as there has been no resolution to the disaster Simona's supplied us with. I have been to this bakery several times with no issues. We decided to hire them to make our cupcake tower cake for our reception. We showed pictures of what we wanted. We were told they could do it. When we showed up, we were horrified at what we saw. When we called Simonas to ask what happened, not only was the girl on the phone rude, she was blaming me for the disaster. I asked to speak to someone else and she told me she was the owner. WHAT?? I could not believe the owner would talk to someone the way she was talking to an extremely upset bride. They sent over some person to aggravate me even more and wound up having throw him out. I will never again in my life visit nor recommend Simona's ever again. My family and I just ordered a birthday cake for my sons 18th birthday and was extremely disappointed in not only the service upon ordering but also the final product. I left it up to the bakery to use their discretion when decorating with balloons and making it birthday like. That was a mistake clearly because not only did they spell my sons name wrong but they also made the decorations all one color. When attempting to speak to someone about it a few weeks after they were not only disrespectful but also not accommodating. They told me I could come back again in the future and receive 20% off my next order but I will never be going back there not even for a cookie. The young staff was not only rude and disrespectful but the manager(s) never even came out to speak to me. I would not recommend this bakery for any future baked goods. read more

I've been waiting for Simona's to open, but due to a busy few weeks forgot to check it out. Saturday I was down in that area so I stopped in to sample the goods. Parking was a bit confusing, but that isn't Simona's fault. It's just the nature of the beast because of the location. Any parking problems are forgotten once you walk in the door. Everywhere I looked there was something delicious waiting to be bought. I decided to try their brownies since I was overwhelmed by all the wonderful cookies, breads and pastries. I bought four, one plain, one Oreo, one peanut butter and one German chocolate. To die for. My favorite was the German chocolate. My least favorite, however wonderful, was the Oreo. It was too sweet for me, but kids would love it. They were all far superior to most brownies I've had from bakeries. I can't wait to go back to try some of the cookies. They looked awesome. For anyone wanting gluten-free, they have an entire section of gluten-free goods. read more

Guilty Pleasures' Katie Lee should be ashamed of herself. Even though when I visited this bakery that was highlighted on Food Network's Guilty Pleasure, did not have the featured Blueberry Compote cupcake available, I sampled 6 others. All but the Cannoli cupcake tasted fake. Now I know what Florian on Cupcake Wars means when he says the filling and icing taste fake. The cake itself was moist & tasty. With so many other cupcake places out there, I won't spend the price for these cupcakes again. The lime & banana flavors were especially disappointing. While there I purchased an eclair as well, the custard filling was great, the fake chocolate on top was displeasing. Definitely not worth the trip. read more

They change them every day but they had pumpkin, strawberry, raspberry, pb&j, caramel and more. They were awesome and also fairly priced which is rare with those. My first time there was this morning. I went in to get a rye bread and was told it's not ready, this was 7:45 a.m. I was told it just came out of the oven, and could not be sliced because it was too hot. I took it anyway and said I would slice it at home by hand. About an hour later I sliced it and it was doughy in the center, not baked through. I asked for a few pieces of crumb cake, and was told it's not ready, it's still in the oven!!! The bakery opens its doors at 7 a.m. I'm there at 7:45 and nothing fresh is ready, I guess the only things on the shelves were from yesterday or the day before. I can't see how this bakery was favorably reviewed on Food Network, perhaps Food Network should go back and review it again, because I'm not going back. read more

Terrible service. Simona makes beautiful cakes but she needs to train her employees to take orders better. The cake I ordered for my mother's bday came out nice but the colors and design was not what i asked for. The girl that was taking my order had no clue about design and size options. But I was told I can not speak to Simona because she is too busy. And they were extremely rude to my husband when he went there to order simple 8 inch cake that would resemble our wedding cake that Simona previously made. Very disappointed since I did liked Simona's cakes but it is no reason for that kind of treatment and I will never go back there. read more

I took my kid here and I understand that the bathroom is for employees and some sick people come on here and troll bc they don't understand that the bathroom is for employees only. I've been going to this bakery since it opened back in May 2012. It is my go to place for breakfast items, birthday cakes and special treats for holidays and special occasions. When you first walk in, you are immediately met with warm smiles from the girls behind the counter and a powerful aroma of what smells like cake baking in the back kitchen or cookies, or maybe both! There is an endless selection of cookies, pastries, cakes, danish, bread and cupcakes, (which were recently featured on the Food Network !!). If you can't find something here to accommodate your cravings and sweet tooth, then you have a problem because there is something here for everyone. For breakfast, my go to is their crumb bun which is made fresh everyday, and if you get there at the right time in the morning, it's still warm from the oven. If you're in the mood for a breakfast pastry, then I recommend you try a lemon crumb danish. It is light, delicious and just the right amount of sweet to start off my day. Their crumb rings are awesome too! I have brought them on long car rides and they always make the trip and they are great to bring to someone's house for dinner or for dessert! The apple crumb ring is always a crowd pleaser! The butter cookies that are perpetually being baked and put out for sale are delicious and by far my favorite! I love the raspberry filled ones with all of the festive sprinkles. If you're looking for a delicious and unforgettable dessert, they have about 20-25 different cupcake flavors available to choose from and drool over. My personal favorites include: Chocolate Mousse and Raspberry, Blueberry White Chocolate, Blueberry Cobbler and Key Lime Pie. These beautiful cupcakes taste just as good as they look and their debut on the Food Network was a spot on depiction of what they are; big, beautiful and just incredibly indulgent. I can promise you they are like nothing else around. Simona's bakery is not a satellite bakery and is indeed an independent establishment that I am so lucky I found a few years back!!
