Every time I've come here I am not greeted and the staff seem annoyed that I'm there. I've had the macrons, oatmeal cookies, cupcakes, etc. I went in today and the chubby lady looked at me like I interrupted her browsing on her phone. Then she proceeded to go around to the counter. I asked her what was inside the jelly donut and her response was "jelly" yet I knew it was jelly. I asked what type of jelly, she said she didn't know maybe blackberry or raspberry. I have an allergy to strawberry's and peanuts so I must ask certain questions. I left without purchasing anything. On another occasion, I asked about which items contained peanut, and the young lady didn't confidently know. I've decided I no longer want to give them any more of my hard earned money. The items are not bad, but not the best either and at times not fresh. This place is too pricey for such rude interactions, maybe because I don't fit the description of the type of customer they want to serve. It's ok, I will gladly go somewhere else. read more

Unfortunately when I had a situation regarding Nicole, the owner Claire(of 24yrs) was not willing to hear my concerns without becoming defensive, would not allow me to finish explaining the issues and spoke over me abruptly. I have ordered custom cakes and cookies for holiday and special occasions for years and gone in for every day dessert needs for three generations since you were located in Ocean Grove. I am extremely disappointed by The Macaroon Shop order service. When I called the store to order three dozen of their large sugar cookies with red and white sprinkles and was told I had to pay an extra $10 fee for ordering. I completely understand that cost has increased and I am okay with paying more but to pay a special $10 fee for ordering the regular large sugar cookies with specific sprinkle colors. That I ordered many times over the years with specific sprinkle color without paying this fee. I am extremely disappointed with your customer service and order service. I find it funny that no one seems to mention that this place is overpriced! Brownies that are not that great $4.95 each? Cupcakes that are not even gourmet and very small are $3.25each? It's a terrible feeling knowing that you got totally ripped off. I'm also in the food industry and there is no need to over charge like that. Sure prices have gone up but they are still making a significant good profit margin especially by over charging on their baked goods. Very cute old school 1970s bakery. Young lady helping us was very sweet. WE bought 6 macaroons. Peach, raspberry,vanilla(2), pistachio and dark chocolate. I had the pistachio and dark chocolate, which were the best macaroons I've ever tasted. The cookie was slightly crisp on the outside then deliciously chewy as you bite. The fillings were also superb. My husband had the fruit flavored ones. He was less enthusiastic, saying the filling flavors tasted artificial. No worries... I'll be back for the chocolate and pistachio. read more

Very happy I tried this place while visiting nearby Bradley Beach. Went late in the day but there was ample selection. Everything in the case was labeled with a description and price, very helpful. The workers were friendly and answered questions. I particularly enjoyed the key lime tart, although I hate to admit it's better than the one I make. You know the goods are fresh when you eat the leftovers on day two and they are just as good as day one. Will come back some morning and try the breakfast items. read more

Stopped for a treat on our way home from shopping. My brother had talked the place up on our drive over. I was astonished to get out of the car to see such an icon appear before me! Entering the building the smell of fresh baked treats permeated the air and I was awed by the beauty of the perfectly arranged baked goods! They even had gluten-free options!! We ordered a slice of carrot cake, almond macaroons, gluten-free Whoopi pie, gluten-free almond horn and a whole dozen chocolate chip cookies. Only the crumbs made it home in the bags and our happy tummies were FULL of the delicious treats! Can't wait to go back the next time I'm here visiting from Texas!! read more

I have been purchasing baked goods at this bakery for many years. I don't know how anyone can give the staff a bad review. I have always been promptly and happily served by all staff, regardless of whether they recognize or know me. The owner is a wonderful person who always works extremely hard to please customers. Now for the best part the products...This is hands-down the greatest bakery of all. I have purchased products here for family and friends from NJ, Delaware, Florida, and California who have all raved about them. My friend from Delaware requires gluten-free items and says the gluten-free whoopie pies are the best gluten free desert she has ever had. Don't even try to match their almond ands coconut macaroons. No one has macaroons half as good as theirs. The glazed crumb cake is a perfect mixture of crisp, sweet crumbs and soft, delicious cake. The cookies are out of this world. The cakes...I save the best for last. Their buttercream icing is absolutely unequaled among great bakeries. It is the perfect balance of creamy and sweet. The cakes are all fresh, beautiful and of course delicious. There are numerous cakes available daily and many ordering options. I have had many over the years and they are always fantastic. This particular trip was in celebration of my daughter's birthday, and everyone in the car got to pick out their own special treat. I have been shopping at the Macaroon Shop for years. Their macaroons and coconut custard pie are excellent. However I opted for a carrot cake this Easter and boy was that a mistake. There was just as much frosting in the inner layer and top as there was cake. And it was not even cream cheese frosting. None of my family wanted to eat it. I took it back, and complained, but the girl asked the baker and he said that is how the cake is made; if I wanted less frosting I should have requested it that way. How rude! How was I supposed to know it was made with so much frosting! I took pictures of the cake, and others agree with me. I even looked up carrot cakes online, and no pictures had that much frosting inside. I left my name and number, but no one called me back. Last cake I will buy there. read more

What can I say, arrived today 7/31/20 - Friday afternoon. Entered the store and ALL of the employees were wearing their face masks, only covering their mouths and nothing else. I asked them all to completely cover their faces (noses & mouths) and they all looked at me as though I had 5 eyes. Remember that they are dealing with food and they are breathing out of their noses onto the products that you are purchasing. Remember on the front door states " no face mask - no service. Honestly very disappointed with my last experience here. My family and I have been buying cakes and pastries here for years and have always been more than satisfied everything is always delicious. My most recent time her as usual the pastries were amazing. My issue was with the girls working, they were so rude and not welcoming at all. We walked in at 430 on a sunday..they close at 6 so it wasnt like we interrupted their cleaning or that they were about to close the door.
