I have been social media stalking The Baker's Grove for a while now. Eventually, enough was enough and I made that drive to Shrewsbury to check them out. During my first visit, they had a pop up from Mirah's Sweet Shoppe. During my second visit, there was a pop up from J. Bakes. Out the gate, I love that they give other local small businesses an opportunity to shine and generate revenue. If you follow The Baker's Grove on social media, you see that they post pictures of these beautiful pastries and pastry cakes weekly. If that's not enough to get you in your car and over to their bakery, I don't know what is. Not only are the pastries beautiful, they are delicious! They make a coconut cream doughnut that I am currently addicted to. Their key lime tart is delicious. One thing I will say is that if you get anything chocolate of theirs, make sure you're a true chocolate lover. I got a slice of the s'mores tart for myself and a slice of chocolate cake for my mom and one thing we agreed on is that both treats were very, very rich. On top of all this deliciousness, the service is usually friendly and efficient. Even with a line, they get you in and out swiftly. I recently stopped in here after many months of wanting to visit and I was impressed with the almost sold out display case at close to 1pm on a Saturday afternoon! That spoke volumes to the quality and the success they are having!!! I was hoping to try the chocolate cake but the chocolate cake was actually sold out so I opted for the S'mores tart and the Ube cheesecake. Let's dive into the details: the crust on both of these desserts are delicious and seemingly identical but they shine differently as they pair with the other ingredients in their recipe. The S'mores tart was rich in chocolate, with a toasted marshmallow topping. The cheesecake was big enough to share and also had some beautiful elements such as the toasted coconut, and the creamy whipped topping. Their service was fast and the line moved quickly. I loved the big display window giving a visual to the hard work happening in their kitchen too, a nice personal touch indeed! This is a really cozy, hidden gem bakery in NJ. Service is great and it's really fun to see the baking behind the glass window. There is a good variety and with unique flavors and items. The chocolate chip cookie is good but not extraordinary. The chocolate cake is dense, rich, and moist with a decadent dark chocolate ganache. It tasted like they probably used some liquor in the cake or maybe some special chocolate which gave it a really delicious, elevated flavor. Slices are big so great for sharing. Have been waiting over a year to come to this bakery. Follow them on social media and they always look so amazing. Finally made it and when we walked in they had about 5 things available. It was BARE! They had regular hot coffee (horrible). We got blueberry pie & key lime pie. Both were just ok. The ambiance is cute. Service was ok. My new favorite bakery, hands down!! My daughter and I visited early on a Saturday to find a wide variety of delicious looking pastries and sweets on display. The ham and cheese croissant was PERFECT! Just the right amount of filling. Another favorite was the banana bread muffin with strawberry cream cheese frosting - just incredible. I wasn't underwhelmed by any of our goodies, all were absolutely divine. My only regret is not getting more. I'm kind of addicted to this place. Scratch the "kind of". It's not a surprise they've become as popular and celebrated as they are. I don't know a single bakery in a 30 mile radius that offers items like they do, and with a lot of consistency. Mind blowing (regular) favorites include - coconut cream donut, savory brioches, any of the quiches. I've tried a number of their products and rarely been disappointed. I've never left with the number of things I actually wanted to buy, They also do special popups in collaboration with other local businesses and I've discovered so many gems. read more

Immaculate vibes and impressive pastries! The outdoor space is perfect for a fall date as there's a bunch of seating and landscaping is so cute. The interior decor of the bakery is also super cottagecore and cozy. Everything in the case looked good, but I ended up getting a Boston cream brioche and quiche slice. It was around $14 for both so it's not cheap but I think it matches the quality you get. Maybe it was the time of day but I do wish the pastures were labeled and had prices shown. She was friendly so that wasn't a problem, but I had to ask the employee what each pastry was. The Boston cream brioche was fantastic. The chocolate ganache on top was soft and the custard was silky and rich. I'm still dreaming about that custard. The quiche was also amazing-- creamy and flavorful. read more

Thanking God this place exists AND thanking God I don't live near it because I'd be there ALL! THE!! TIME!!! First off, their coffee alone was standout. For decaf, it was bold & rich & I love that. Second, sooooo many choices but I went with a classic (because if you can't get THAT right, then you've failed entirely) and for something you don't usually find. So the Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie & the Monkey Bread Muffin it was. BOTH held their own but OMG that buttery, decadent Monkey Bread was BEYOND!! Bits of laminated dough with nuts and pastry cream. HEAVEN!! Lastly, the service was patient. I had so many questions because there wasn't a label in sight (that's TRULY my ONLY gripe) but the young man was very kind and I appreciate that. Friends have been telling me about Baker's Grove and I finally had a chance to try it, last Saturday. I purchased a Boston creme brioche and a savory brioche with mushroom and fontina cheese. My personal favorite was the savory brioche with mushroom and fontina cheese. I was disappointed that the selection of pastries was not plentiful. I did however see through their glass window that the bakers were busy making more pastries. I came around 11:30 am and they close at 2:00 pm on Saturdays, so I'm not sure if the bakers are filling private orders. The aromas were clean, slightly sweet, yeasty aromas that somehow smelled warm like you were inhaling a blanket on a cold winter day. Oh my! The place looks like a dream. There is a rack filled with bread which many customers when over to squeezing them to see which one is the freshest and which one they will purchase. None, it turns out because those were pre-ordered and are waiting for the people who called it in, to come and pick it up. I was shocked and disappointed that the bread was not kept in the back for sanitary reasons. The lady at the cashier stated the few loaves of bread at the showcase are available. Excellent brioche but the service was just adequate. The cashier was not the friendliest and it was not busy when we went. They have two long bar tables with stools and several outside tables to enjoy your food. This store is located in The Grove West. They have ample parking that they share with other stores within the strip mall. One of my favorite bakers somewhat local to my area! When we first encountered them we were coming back every weekend to grab and try out all their goodies. I love the look of the bakery and how they conduct their business. I love how you can expect different baked goods every so often but also expect to have your favorite staples. I love how they also support small businesses and invite them as pop-ups within their site to showcase their services and products! One of my favorites from them is their key lime tart! I always take one home after a visit. Everything they have is a no fail zone. If you're a dessert person this place is for you. In this age of " hard to find bakeries" the Grove was a pleasant surprise. Not a huge selection of baked goods but everything looked terrific. I shared a brownie with my wife - very good. Not inexpensive but you get what you pay for - a valid reason to accompany my wife on her next shopping trip. Definitely a place for a special treat or dessert. read more

We would love to support a local business. However, it is an overhyped and overpriced bakery. Drove there on Saturday (20-mile trip) for a special occasion and called in advance. Upon arrival, we walked in and it was very chaotic, only two people behind the counter, and no labeling or pricing whatsoever, not even a menu overhead. While we had to ask about each baked good, the line became long. We purchased a coconut cream puff, a chocolate and almond croissant, tiramisu, a miniature mango cheesecake, and a chocolate chip cookie. When we tried the cookie first it was immediately clear that it wasn't exactly worth the hype that this place gets. The other pastries were mediocre at best. The filling was less than flavorful to the point the dough tasted better. The croissants were overbaked and not flaky. The mango cheesecake had almost half an inch of crust all around, and the most flavorful part of that was the whipped frosting on top. We had better croissants and cookies at our local Wegmans, which is a little disappointing. Overall, the place had a good ambience, and the pastries were well made, but their filling was completely flavorless and mediocre at best. read more

My friend and I got a "sampling" of pastries for our breakfast, and we cut everything up so that we could do a little "taste test" of it all, and it was fabulous! First off, the interior of this place is so cute and well-decorated, so the experience was already off to a good start for me, but then all of the pastries were presented so perfectly that how could you not want to try all of them?!? The Strawberries & Cream Danish was probably my favorite of all the things we tried, but their OG Danish was also very tasty. They had the perfect consistency and weren't "chewy" to bite, as some danishes are. They have a good variety of gluten free options, too. The gluten free s'mores cookie wasn't my favorite, but it's nice to know that these options are available for those who have intolerances or sensitivities.
