Updated Review: My friend and I wanted to catch up, so we went to one of my favorite spots, Simone's. I always enjoy the experience here, and this visit was no different. I wanted to share a quick update because they've added a new twist to how they present their food. I ordered my usual, hot wings and fries, and as always, everything tasted great. The hot wings at Simone's are a staple! That said, I'm not completely sold on the new plating style. I preferred the old presentation, where the fries were served separately and the sauce came in a little saucer. The new setup looks nice, but with the wings now sitting on top of the fries, it might not be everyone's preference. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, the food remains solid, the vibe is unmatched, and the atmosphere really comes alive in the evening when the DJs start spinning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Still one of my favorite bars in the city.

We stool for a bit but my phone stamp is 12:07. KITCHEN CLOSED, not open until 1. Change your damn website or keep it open ladies.

Reason you have 3.7 This is the kind of bull about Pilsen. If your kitchen isn't open until 1. THEN TAKE IT OFF YOUR WEBSITE... can't have people who walked several blocks and then walk in an hour and 10 minutes before your kitchen is supposed to close and say the kitchen is closed .

A friend invited me to Simone's for a Bad Bunny inspired brunch. We got there around 1pm. The place was packed, mostly with girls around their twenties and early thirties who obviously came to listen to some Bad Bunny music while enjoying bottomless mimosas. My friend and I had both gone straight from the gym and were starving. I ordered the breakfast croissant sandwich and she opted for the chilaquiles with chicken. It took over an hour for our food to arrive, which is why I am docking them down one star. Yes, they were busy but an hour is pushing it. I will say, the service was spot on and accommodating. The manager went up to us and apologized for the wait, having our food be on the house. Once the food came, we devoured it. I honestly do not remember much about the flavor of the food because I was starving and had been drinking by that point, so I would say it was solid. They also gave us vodka shots and drinks on the house to compensate for the long wait, which was really nice of them. The guy next to us bought us each a mimosa as well. Of course, we had to order the new drink they were offering, "Bad Bunny." It consists of 21 seed Valencia Orange Tequila, orange liqueur, carrot juice, fresh like, habanero sauce, shredded carrot, and tajin. My friend absolutely loved it. I personally was not a huge fan of it, only because I don't like anything orange flavored. If you like orange flavored drinks, you would love it! The vibe was spot on, with a huge Bad Bunny head being available for photo ops. We decided to skip the photo ops and dance a bit before calling it a day. We found out that they're known for having drag brunches and are definitely interested in checking those out! It was a great vibe and the prices weren't bad at all. We are definitely going to try and make it to one of the drag shows in the summer!

Drinks were fantastic! I got a mango cocktail and loved it with the spicy rim and lime. The food was alright- got a Caesar wrap that lacked in flavor, but the quinoa pizza and appetizers we got were pretty good. Service was great, our waitress was very kind and attentive. Would visit again next time we're in the area.

I would first like to put out I'm a very picky eater.. but wow. I've never had an eggs benedict like Simone's. Our waitress was all smiles and very friendly, and I hate to be THAT person-- but a couple who came in after us got their food first!! like the waitress was walking towards us with a hole tray of food and BOOM- table right behind us. buuttt, when we finished our meal and the waitress cleared our table, we got a small cup of complimentary ice cream!

The food is always spot on. Their burgers are FRESH beef patties and the sweet potato fries are what I really come for. This time we tried the 3 different empanadas and they were truly delicious, especially the paired sauces. The staff is nice and pretty attentive. Good recommendations when asked. The decor is out of this world, super funky and retro vibes, but also the use of old materials to make things new is so creative. Be mindful that this is a bar, so it's pretty calm during the day, but at night it gets more festive (Sunday karaoke, other themed nights, louder music.).

Came here for lunch with a friend, we were the first customers of the day at 12:30, so our server was great, very attentive and super friendly! They have an extensive menu, lots of burgers, pizzas and also lots of vegetarian options. My BLT was ok. Ingredients were all fresh, but the bacon was super fatty, so kind of overpowered the taste of the sandwich. I had also asked for cheese and it wasn't on there. Ambiance wise, the music was too loud. Cool vibe, but hard to chat with the music as loud as it was.

The vibe is speakeasy-ish; the entrance is off the street in an alleyway but the interior is very nice, low light, and would be fun for a date night! The staff were attentive and very friendly. My friend got some shots, which were surprisingly good given they were kind of sweet, and I ordered the "mystic lamp" cocktail ($16) which was VERY memorable to me as someone that loves floral drinks -- it was very floral, slightly fruity, and had a lovely chunk of lychee it came with which was delicious! The drink was decent sized too; I've been charged a lot more for much less drink at other speakeasies (those of which I don't plan to visit again any time soon haha). In my opinion, this spot has the perfect combo of great drinks, nice ambiance, cool speakeasy-vibes, but also cheerfulness given the tiki-theme inside. Would definitely rec a visit to anyone visiting Chicago who likes cool bars!

I was excited for the experience having heard how busy it gets, blah blah. These positive reviewers need to seek out other tiki bars. After you negotiate the alley entrance and go down dangerously dark stairs, you are met with crazy boring decor. I kept thinking there had to be more right? The whole point of a tiki bar is to strike a mood, but hanging a very few polynesian masks on the wall, putting up a grass facade over the bar and dressing the servers in vaguely polynesian outfits is sad. I've seen private tiki bars at people's homes that are more exciting. Add to this a comparably boring music selection played far too loud over boomy lo-fi speakers and you'll wonder what's going on here. So what about the food and drink? Completely uninspired for anyone who's had more than a mai tai before in their life. About a dozen extremely common drink choices is all you get!! No specials, that's it. When I asked if this was the whole cocktail menu, the server said it was but they have a full bar so you can get anything you want. Well, I could get that service at just about any bar in the world, so big deal. Maybe it would be better if you sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender. One could also go taste their rum selections and other cocktails in the Bamboo Room, but I hate that kind of elitist nonsense. That's never been what tiki bars were about. The drinks we sampled were okay at best. Even the namesake 3 Dots and A Dash cocktail was lackluster and used cheap cherries for the dots instead of classic Luxardos. (If you know, you know) The appetizers were okay, but way overpriced. 5 tiny spring rolls for $18. Come on guys, enough already. I'd rather go to the bar at the Polynesian Hotel at Disney than return here. This place is a hard pass.

That said, this place just completely disappointed. The food was just not good. I had the burger sliders and for $9 a piece you expect them to be something special. They were not. Overcooked with a little sauce and two pickles slapped on the bun with a tiny little dab of fake cheese - it was like a bad and way more expensive version of McDonald's. The onion rings were the frozen crumbly kind not the fresh beer battered kind and so that's a big "no!" for me. The dipping sauce was okay. Service was friendly and I think the guy was new but it wasn't good enough for a place like that at the top of the building. There were two servers so I'm guessing one was training maybe. They didn't make it to my table to check to see if everything was okay while I was eating and it even took them a while to notice that I was done eating. It's was slow so I don't think they were stressing with too many tables. That kind of place should knock your socks off - but it was on the low end of mediocre. I wouldn't go there again for food. People were standing right behind me to order drinks; I didn't feel overly crowded by any means but some who aren't used to that kind of bar/clubby vibe might feel that way. The music was a little loud to be heard over all the folks there, but I wasn't talking to anyone so it didn't bother me (was just sitting and reading a book). The bartender was really nice and attentive despite the fact that the place was so packed. I had a drink called the "Gentle Fish" which the bartender rec'd as a sweeter/more floral drink. Admittedly it was a little strong, but the flavor was nice! It was different from most other drinks I've had, and I enjoyed it. Was strong enough I definitely did not need another though. Of note, this place is downstairs under "The Hoxton" hotel, there's no entrance directly to the bar from the sidewalk/street (you have to enter the hotel lobby, then follow the signs toward the back and go down the elevator and/or stairs). There is a person who checks your ID when you enter and seats you if seats are available. The bathrooms were very clean. Not sure about parking but street parking is definitely very limited; I imagine a paid lot would probably be the easiest thing or taking the train from wherever you're staying if you can (which is what I did).

It was no wonder when we arrived that there was a line out the door. We waited around 45 minutes, and the bouncer was a really nice fellow who kept track of the numbers and people at the door. Upon entering, we were immersed in a dimly lit retro-style lounge. It was quite loud inside and packed as we walked to our seats. The server was great at taking our orders and offering suggestions. Imagine my shock when we didn't even make it past the bouncer because he was so rude, AS OTHER RECENT REVIEWS HAVE MENTIONED AS WELL! We had dinner nearby and walked to Bisous after, and saw there was a line of 5 or 6 people outside. We expected this as we knew Bisous is a first come, first serve bar. We were curious what the wait time would look like, so we approached the front door to ask a host or employee inside (we assumed there'd be a desk with an employee working it who could give us a wait time). We had no problem waiting, just wanted to see how long they estimated it would be! Before we could even fully open the door, the bouncer swung the door open from the other side and hit me with the door. I stumbled back a few steps and he looked at us and said, and I quote, "What do you want?". I laughed at first because I thought he was joking and putting on a tough guy act. He was not. We quickly explained we just wanted to see what the wait time was, and he said "don't you see there's a line outside?" We said yes, and explained we just wanted to know a rough estimated wait time. He just blankly stared at us while ushering us out. Both my boyfriend and I have worked in customer-service roles for a very, very long time. This encounter was not only extremely rude and unprofessional, but he also hit me hard enough with the door to send me stumbling back, and then said nothing about it and continued to address us in a tone that was nothing less than annoyed and irritated. We didn't end up going inside because that encounter left such a bad taste in our mouths. I don't believe in spending my money at establishments that don't treat their customers with the bare minimum respect they deserve! Bummed we didn't get to experience it, as I'm sure it was lovely inside and I can only hope the rest of the employees were much more kind and accommodating, or at least able to answer a simple question. Watching them craft each drink is part of the experience. I've even hosted a birthday gathering here in their private side room, where we enjoyed charcuterie boards alongside our cocktails. If you're just stopping in for drinks, though, I'd recommend grabbing dinner beforehand, as the food offerings are fairly limited. More often than not though, you'll find me sitting right at the bar. When security asked what was in it, she said "chips," and they allowed her in without inspecting the bag. That felt concerning from a safety standpoint. 4. The manager, Calvin, was very dismissive and cold when I tried to have a conversation with him about the events surrounding my sister's dismissal. He continued to insist she was over served and suggested she wait outside in the "nice weather." It was 30° and snowing. Figuring this conversation was going no where, I began chatting with one of the hostesses. I was asking for her recommendations where my group should go next in the area. During this convo I used an adjective that rhymes with duck and the manager, who was listening in, told me I had to leave because he claimed I was "swearing at his staff." No one was swearing at anybody? 5. Added this one last minute, after reading the owner's response to a previous review from another member of my group. I question the validity of his reply to save face. I personally went down to the women's restroom moments before I left, and waited in line with two female staff members who did not mention any closure. Additionally, we were told that The Pearl Club was closed to the public and reserved exclusively for our event. We were on one of the morning trolleys and there were two afternoon trolleys that were scheduled for 4pm and 6pm. Why would the bathrooms be closed to prepare for the public around 3/30pm when there was still multiple trolleys scheduled for the afternoon? It's unfortunate because the space itself is cute and intimate, and the hostesses and wait staff we interacted with were kind. However, the management response and overall experience make it unlikely I would return. I understand bars get busy during St. Patrick's Day weekend, but basic safety, communication, and professionalism should still apply.

We had a prepaid reservation, which made everything very smooth from start to finish. Each drink was paired with a food and they went very well together. They were also very inventive and creative so if you like to have fun with your food and Marvel and the creativity of the bar staff and the chefs this is a great place to go if you're looking for something different. They also offer add-ons for your reservation so we got the truffle explosion dumpling soup dumpling and I wish I had 50 of them. We would like to go back and try a different experience next time we go there, but I highly recommend it as a first time in Chicago experience or if you live around the area or if you're just looking for a good time.

The bird-themed cocktail menu brings both creativity and drama, with presentations that feel almost theatrical. What really elevates the experience is how the hosts narrate the inspiration behind each drink, making it feel more like a storytelling session than just a night out. The mixologists deserve serious credit for their thoughtful experimentation with global flavors--balancing complementary and contrasting notes, surprising textures, and sensory touches that feel nostalgic and adventurous at the same time. The food holds its own too. Don't miss the giant onion ring or the Chip n Dip--both are as fun as they are delicious. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but the cocktail tasting experience makes it worthwhile. A perfect late-night spot for great conversations and drinks that ooze personality.

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.
