Updated Review: My friend and I wanted to catch up, so we went to one of my favorite spots, Simone's. I always enjoy the experience here, and this visit was no different. I wanted to share a quick update because they've added a new twist to how they present their food. I ordered my usual, hot wings and fries, and as always, everything tasted great. The hot wings at Simone's are a staple! That said, I'm not completely sold on the new plating style. I preferred the old presentation, where the fries were served separately and the sauce came in a little saucer. The new setup looks nice, but with the wings now sitting on top of the fries, it might not be everyone's preference. Overall, the food remains solid, the vibe is unmatched, and the atmosphere really comes alive in the evening when the DJs start spinning. Still one of my favorite bars in the city. read more

We went to Simone's to celebrate my birthday, and while the atmosphere was great and the staff was initially helpful, the way they handled a major issue left us really disappointed. I accidentally dropped my phone into an exposed drain in the women's bathroom. At the time, the venue reassured me they would cover the cost of a new phone, so I went ahead and purchased one. However, after retrieving my old phone (which was damaged and unusable, sewage water was still in the phone case and the smell was disgusting), they changed their stance and refused to reimburse me--despite their initial promise. I lost not only a functioning phone but also a sentimental polaroid photo that can't be replaced. While we appreciated the staff's attentiveness earlier in the night, the way this situation was handled was extremely frustrating. If a business makes a commitment to a customer, they should follow through, especially in a case like this. If you visit, just be mindful--because if something happens, their word may not mean much. read more

Bouncer (old white dude) was extremely racist directly towards me. Needed his help with a guy being creepy at the bar towards a friend of mine and he started saying "hare krishna hare krishna" and started saying racist stuff about Muslims, I guess because I'm south Asian. A friend invited me to Simone's for a Bad Bunny inspired brunch. We got there around 1pm. The place was packed, mostly with girls around their twenties and early thirties who obviously came to listen to some Bad Bunny music while enjoying bottomless mimosas. My friend and I had both gone straight from the gym and were starving. I ordered the breakfast croissant sandwich and she opted for the chilaquiles with chicken. It took over an hour for our food to arrive, which is why I am docking them down one star. Yes, they were busy but an hour is pushing it. I will say, the service was spot on and accommodating. The manager went up to us and apologized for the wait, having our food be on the house. Once the food came, we devoured it. I honestly do not remember much about the flavor of the food because I was starving and had been drinking by that point, so I would say it was solid. They also gave us vodka shots and drinks on the house to compensate for the long wait, which was really nice of them. The guy next to us bought us each a mimosa as well. Of course, we had to order the new drink they were offering, "Bad Bunny." It consists of 21 seed Valencia Orange Tequila, orange liqueur, carrot juice, fresh like, habanero sauce, shredded carrot, and tajin. My friend absolutely loved it. I personally was not a huge fan of it, only because I don't like anything orange flavored. If you like orange flavored drinks, you would love it! The vibe was spot on, with a huge Bad Bunny head being available for photo ops. We decided to skip the photo ops and dance a bit before calling it a day. We found out that they're known for having drag brunches and are definitely interested in checking those out! It was a great vibe and the prices weren't bad at all. My sister and I met an old friend at Simone's for a drink one Friday night. It was the first time any of us had been there. We arrived around 8:30pm and it wasn't very crowded. We sat in a booth not from the entrance so we could see our friend when he arrived. The waitress came to greet us shortly after we arrived and told us how to access the menu. I opted for the Pilsen Punch and my sister ordered the Jampack. She loved her drink, but I ended up sending mine back because it tasted like something you'd gulp if you were drowning in the ocean! It was so gross. My sister and friend both tasted it and they didn't like it either. I ended up ordering a margarita instead which I didn't care for either but I sucked it up. My friend had a couple of drinks too, but I honestly can't recall what he ordered. He liked his drinks too. My sister ordered some chicken tenders and tater tots too and we all shared. She thought the tots could have been crispier, but overall we were happy with the food. The atmosphere was chill and the crowd seemed to be a mix of neighborhood folks, yuppies and twenty-somethings. Early in the evening the atmosphere felt more like "Cheers" (80s sitcom), but later it became more of a club atmosphere. People started dancing in the back of the bar and the music was so loud that you literally had to yell to the person sitting next to you in order to be heard. It was kind of annoying and ultimately we ended up leaving because of it. The bill was only $55 for the three of us which is pretty reasonable for a night out in Chicago. Our server was training a new waitress so the service wasn't top notch because they seemed to be short staffed, but they seemed to be doing the best they could. Came in monday around 4pm, place wasn't busy at all so food & drinks came out fast! The service was great, our server (the check said Addie on it) was amazing and so sweet to my partner and I. We had the margerita pizza, fried ravioli, tempura vegetables, the cocaine bear cocktail, and the bloody monday mojito - which came in a light up cup that you get to keep!!! I love little souvenirs. Lots of specials and deals on Mondays, and prices are good. My partner also got the tomato bisque which comes with a big crisp for dipping and has a nice presentation. Nestled on the edge of Pilsen and University Village, Simone's is a go-to place for locals that want that divey bar experience with good drinks and sandwiches to fill up on. I met two friends here after work for some catching up and was recommended to check out Simone's. The bar/restaurant oozes with personality inside with its retro feel and hefty selection of spirits at the bar. I really did love how back-in-time you felt being inside as you admired the different throwback art surrounding you. I started off with their Portobello Fries ($8) which comes with both wasabi aioli and soy sauce to dip. The mushroom spears themselves weren't anything special and definitely needed the dipping sauces to kick them up a notch. It was overall a good starter for my dinner that came after: Grilled Salmon Burger ($11) with spinach and tomatoes and served with shoe-string fries. The salmon was a bit dry for my taste and the fries didn't do much for me. Overall it was still a passable sandwich. Service here was very friendly despite the food being just okay. The real focus here should be the affordable beers they have on draft. Next time I come, I'll stick with drinks and head elsewhere for food. read more

Came for some World Cup games recently and can't say enough good things about Simone's. It's a very expansive bar that i feel like you could live a lot of lives at. There's ample booths by the entrance and more tucked away in the back to accommodate varying party sizes. There's usually a daily special and I love the drinks they've come up with to celebrate the tournament. I wasn't fortunate enough to attend a college that regularly served beer out of a boot like my friends did so I appreciated the learning experience. We came here for Halloween last night. My husband bought the tickets and paid for the cover online, and the place was pretty packed when we arrived around 10 p.m. The 3 bartenders were doing the best they could to accommodate to everyone. I was lucky to be seated at the bar, my husband didn't end up getting a seat, and he insisted on standing the whole time. The food here is decent and came out quick, but we've had better. The buffalo wings were delicious. However, the pizza is just okay -- we ordered the traditional with Italian sausage, green peppers and mushroom. It was great atmosphere. At one point, the dance floor music stopped playing and the lights went out in that part of the place, and thankfully, they fixed it within minutes. Right before the costume contest, they informed us that the police came in saying everyone should have their mask on correctly unless they're actively eating or drinking. This place is so cool. The ambiance is really fun. I love the design. They have pinball machines for decoration at each of the tables. It's just the table top and it's hung on the wall.
