After moving my car from the two-hour parking in the garage, I noticed a small store connected to the hospital garage building. Upon entering the little coffee and tea shop, I found it to be modern, bright, and clean. The service was excellent, with everyone inside was cheerful, smiling, and greeting customers with a positive, upbeat attitude. It was a refreshing change to leave the hospital and step outside to enjoy some fresh air and smiles. I visited both days to grab a yogurt with fruit and an Arnold Palmer to take back to the room. They actually remembered me and my order from the day before so that was cool! Everything was delicious, and the fruit was fresh. The lemonade mixed with tropical tea was perfect and not too sweet. They also serve breakfast sandwiches and breakfast bowls, but since my father is being discharged today, I didn't have the chance to try the breakfast bowl. How do I love thee? For many reasons. First, it's close to me which is always a plus. I love the employees. As a former service employee I can tell you that the employees are well- trained and generally happy. This means they are likely treated fairly and well-compensated. The reason I believe this is Simones employees are consistent and don't turn over all the time like Cafe Ficelle(I won't go there again). Simones also has great coffee. Not only do I regularly order my lattes from here with my own commuter cup (a small discount with a big environmental impact), but I also purchase my bags of espresso for use at home. This cafe is near the hospital so it's convenient if you happen to be visiting a sick person. There are adorable handmade toys, stuffies, mugs, tshirtsand other merchandise. I love the fresh, healthy California breakfast items. I usually order the wrap with eggs, feta, spinach, red pepper and aoili sauce. The bagels are good too. Upon entering I am always consistently greeted with a smile, and in the fall when I was navigating the fall menu, I appreciated the help with my questions about the offerings as well as the recommendations in adjusting the drink for my liking. My favorite right now is the Cinna Dulce Latte! Creamy and delicious! Both shops have a beautiful esthetic. I love the open feeling of the one off Main Street. It feels very bright and inviting. Another wonderful offering they have is a boutique style gift shop. They have a wide selection of different items for anyone on your list. They have an array of coffee and tea flavors, milk substitutes, syrups, and more! Service was quick. Placed my order and a few minutes, my matcha latte (with oatmilk and hazelnut syrup) is ready to go. It's got that bitter matcha flavor, meaning that they use real matcha and not that stuff that comes too sweet. It is a cute meet area and will definitely bring back my foodies with me aka family and friends. The young lady at the register was friendly, but the young man who made our drinks seemed irritated to even be there. When our lattes were ready, he just set them on the counter and muttered "your coffee" without any acknowledgment or courtesy. It was my first time visiting. I had stopped by after leaving the hospital, hoping for a good experience. When I couldn't find straws, I went back to the counter to ask but he was busy doing something else. Without turning around or saying a word, he grabbed an unwrapped straw and tossed it on the counter. No eye contact, no basic courtesy. The one off kimball is closed temporarily due to a fire but the location near the hospital is still open and thriving! The mocha is average, but otherwise I haven't like anything else I have ordered. And this is one of the pricier coffee houses - so if I'm gonna pay upwards of $10 for a drink, I want to actually like it. I haven't ordered food here before, but I've been told that their food is better than their drinks. So if I go back, that's something I'll have to try. They also offer pastries from local shops as well as made to order breakfast sandwiches. Prices are comparable to big brand coffee chains, but the quality is definitely higher. Service is excellent every time I've been here and the tables are usually clean and tidy. On my last visit, I had their salmon lox on croissant with avocado as well as a large matcha latte. The food was fresh and the drink had a good matcha flavor. I've also had their hot teas and coffees, which were all good as well. They have all kinds of milk substitutes for vegans and lactose intolerant folk. Looks like the perfect place to come and study considering it's fairly quiet and peaceful. I ordered an iced matcha with oatmilk and a spinach feta bowl. The eggs were cooked fluffy and airy. Simone's is consistently good with a wide selection of drinks and tons of savory and sweet food options. I usually order an americano but today I went with a caramel macchiato. So smooth, decadent, and YUM. I also added a blueberry muffin and a ciabatta sandwich with ham/pepper Jack and a side salad with spinach arugula and lemon dill dressing. Sandwich and pastry were delicious. I've also tried their bagel sandwiches (with the jalapeño cheddar bagel of course!), spinach feta wrap (SO GOOD and healthy, especially if you add avocado), and their veggie wrap (packed with a great assortment of veggies and I love that there are chickpeas and hummus too). The avocado toast is decent, it would be amazing if there were an option with arugula, red pepper flakes, and lemon juice (maybe I can build my own?). I've tried the oatmeal once and wished it had a bit more fruit in it but was still nice to eat. It's decorated beautifully with velvet seating, marble tables, gold fixtures, and has ample natural lighting. Staff is friendly and even when it's busy with a line out the door, they move quickly and I'm in and out and onto my next errand. They are closed on Sunday's!! I found this place while searching for a local coffee shop which I am always in search of local shops to support them. There is parking but at times it can be hard since its outside the hospital. The place inside is beautiful and have plenty of seats. They also have some food and good coffee. One thing about this place is how expensive it was when menu prices did not reflect that. There was a long line behind me so I was not planning to ask them about why its about triple the price that they have on the menu Vs. what I am being charged at that time. We are visiting from Ashland, OR and staying in a VRBO rental with a Keurig coffee maker which I hate. I tried many of the coffee places in Ventura. Many did not have size choices or milk choices. Simones fits the bill. 3 size choices and nonfat milk. They also have bagels with lots of choices to "sandwich" them including hummus instead of cream cheese. And they have muffins, shakes and more.
