GREREAT stop in for brunch today. It was a quick walk from our hotel. 665 Washington Rd~Ms Liza was the sweetest. I ordered the "Avocadonator" Image this: eggs, cheese, bacon seasoned tomatoes and avocado this amazing omelette came together perfectly 100%!! I coupled it with grits, white toast and hot tea. The decor is simple Greek cafe style with framed pictures of Pittsburgh and Greece. The menu has all the classic diner options plus a few more modern options and seasonal specials. The focus is breakfast but there are also sandwiches and salads. I really enjoyed my omelette. It was stuffed with lemony avocado, bacon, cheese, tomato and caramelized onions. Simone's is a charming breakfast diner spot in Mount Lebanon. We came here twice during our brief stay. The staff were personable, helpful and on top of things. Their menu was fantastic when it came to accommodating a variety of dietary preferences. From avocado toast, chocolate chip pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, benedicts, fresh squeezed orange juice and more - there was something for everyone. Our second time here - we came with my nieces and the staff couldn't have been more helpful when it came to getting them set up with highchairs and making sure that their food came out promptly. My wife and I had breakfast here recently and I found it to be pretty average. For my meal I had the yo yo breakfast burrito. It was filled with scrambled eggs, potato, black beans, salsa, and cheese. The flavors were just not there. You got a ton of potato in every bite, but not much else. There were almost no black beans in the burrito as well. The whole burrito was drizzled with sour cream, which looked cool, but got messy when trying to actually eat it. Oh no, I set the bar way too high. First experience was hands down 5 stars. This past weekend, Flop with a capital F. The menu is great. Many items to choose from. This time, my once Instagram famous photo of the guacamole bacon omelette titled "holy guacamole this is the best omelette I ever had" was disgusting and I couldn't even eat it. Potatoes, completely undercooked. Couldn't even eat them, they were raw. My first experience, perfectly crisp and seasoned. What happened? Omelette, runny and drenched in oil. Hardly any bacon, barely any avocado. It gets better. So I send it back (last time I did this was 5 years ago; I was FAMISHED and couldn't eat this meal) With a nice little "ya what do you need" from a waitress that wasn't even ours..... They somehow remade my dish... and managed to make the wrong omelette. 1- sign to stop eating meat again 2- what the hell happened to the Simone's I've been talking up for two months? Nice little place for breakfast or lunch opened recently in the spot that KousKous Express use to be. A lot of tables were packed in and all were in use except one when I arrived for an early lunch. A few people had to wait at the door for a table to clear. My waiter pointed to a table but took awhile to get me a menu. I was walking to the menu's hanging by the door when I finally received a menu. My water was refilled by another waitress and food was delivered by another person so the staff works together but service was disjointed and unfriendly. For my lunch I decided to go with the Combo that is two not so fluffy stacks of regular cakes and two eggs with bacon. The pancakes were just OK and my eggs and bacon were good. I brought my kids here for brunch, we were seated and ordered quickly which was really nice. Menu looks really good. We were over charged so check your check, it was my fault. We had to sit seperately since there was 5 and it wasn't until we got to the car and were discussing the food that i realized we were charged $30 for crepes. Beware it's $10 a crepe, yes that's $10 for 1 crepe with toppings. $2 for 4 slices of strawberries on the crepe. So when you are charged for 3 instead of 2 it matters but again my fault for not checking. It took over 45 min my kids side of bacon and when i asked about it my daughter (sitting at the table behind me) informed me the waitress roller her eyes when i politley asked. Bacon came after the check, almost raw. I have been in the service industry, i am very patient and understand how kitchens work. I was never unkind or rude, i tipped 20% bc that's what you do but i won't be back. Very expensive, our check was over $115 for one adult and 4 kids and then to wait and be over charged in just not into it. Glad we finally made it to try out Simones for the first time-I took my dad with me to try it out since he lives close by in Castle Shannon. We went for the Yelp event! I tried their special which was the pumpkin pancakes with cream cheese icing. I requested to add chocolate chips which they did which was nice of them. It is an up charge which makes sense. They are very filling and delicious! Definitely recommend. I added a side of Turkey sausage. It was good but a little pricy for just two small patties. My dad got the Greek omelet and he said he enjoyed it. They have a nice selection on the menu and nice brunch and lunch items to choose from. The space inside is kinda tight but cutely decorated. I was excited to try a new breakfast place this weekend. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed. The set up of this restaurant is terrible. The tables are packed so close together that you can barely walk through. There is also no room by the door to wait to be seated. When we first entered, I saw 4 open tables and thought we would be seated fairly soon. I was wrong. We stood there for at least 15 minutes while those 4 tables remained open. Not sure of their seating system here. Once seated, we noticed our silverware was filthy. I'm not just talking about some water spots. There was crusty food stuck all over the forks and a sticky syrup all over the knives. I usually don't like making extra requests but there was no way I was eating off of this silverware so I asked for a new set. The new silverware was just as dirty as the first. Also, when our food arrived, the bottom of my plate was covered in a brown substance (see photo)...not sure what that was?? We ordered the crepes, avocado toast, and yo yo burrito. The crepes were good, the avocado toast with eggs was flavorless and over priced, and the burrito was okay. Overall the food was mediocre for the price. After finishing up, we wanted to pay our bill and leave quickly as we noticed a huge line out the door. Our waitress took another 20 minutes to bring us our check and take our credit card. In that time many people left and went elsewhere. The only good thing was their fresh squeezed orange juice. I will say, this was delicious! Overall, this was a let down. I came in today 2/27/19 at 11:45 AM and walked out at 12:45 without eating a single bite. I had to take my order to go because they used up my entire lunch break. To top it off, I paid $3.50 for a side of bacon that I never even received. My food was not steaming hot when it arrived, so who knows what the delay was. Manager gave me a 10% discount but what's the point when I paid practically $4 for a side of air? Also not a fan of the toast they put their Eggs Benedict on and the homefries were meh. This is unfortunate because I work across the street, but I will not be returning. Very disappointed. Two stars because management was nice and tried to correct issue, but there were more issues afterwards (i.e. no bacon) so I really cannot recommend this establishment in good faith. read more

Enjoyed Simone's for breakfast this past Sunday and it was pretty good. The place itself is really cute and cozy, and the waitress was very nice! The service was quick and was non-stop on the coffee refills. The meal was good however the ham in the omelette was very salty, some people like salty ham , so that's just a matter of preference. The bread was sooo amazing, they call it white bread however has a slight sourdough taste which I really enjoyed. The only issue I really had with the establishment is they charge a 4% credit card fee, which is against most credit card vendor agreements and is just tacky to me. I really wish they would let you know before hand, and if 4% is killing their bottom line than they need to just raise the prices, because honestly they were pretty good. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu! read more

Was excited to try this restaurant due to the location and outside tables. I had read the mixed reviews so I felt I was prepared. We came early and we're the first table on a Saturday. Our waitress was fabulous and we were served coffee and our orders were taken right away. Nice selection of menu items. It took 30 minutes to get our order so not sure if the kitchen was not ready. I had the French toast- was good and was served hot. I asked for crispy bacon and I did get that, but is was only mildly warm. My husband had eggs over easy-one was, one was not, potatoes that unfortunately were cold and sausage. We did not complain since our waitress was working hard, but did notice people that came after us were done before we were served. I will try again, in the future, but not be the first in. read more

So I read the reviews and thought it's way too close to my house not to try. As soon as I sat down I looked at the silverware and it was clean. A friend and I tried the place Sunday morning before church. Service and food was great! I had the 'combo'. The pancakes were delicious without syrup, nice and fluffy lightly sprinkled with powder sugar. Maybe 10 tables inside and 3 tables outside. The food was delicious and quick. We stopped in here for Sunday brunch and were not disappointed. The place was pretty packed, but we were able to snag a table. Warning: it is close quarters, so we didn't have much elbow room. My overpriced avocado toast was good, but a bit too much lemon juice on it. Over-easy eggs were perfect. Bread wasn't super yummy but felt very healthy, so that's good I guess. Sides of sausage links (not really breakfast sausage in my opinion) and overcooked crumbly bacon were just ok. But the turkey sausage was so good that it was hard to believe it was made from turkey! We were able to get in an out relatively fast, which meant my STARVING daughter was able to get her food quickly. Overall, I'd give this place three and a half stars if I could.
